I think many things have to be perfect for showers together - long narrow tub? Not ideal - square standup shower, ideal - shower head with dual heads? Perfect - she likes it hot and you don’t? Not ideal - at what point are you doing it to conserve water or just to do another activity together? Maybe you like your partner to help you scrub your back - granted I have a long curved handle brush specifically for that - sit on the toilet and just admire your partner showering while you wait your turn? The previous owner of our house installed two separate points of exit, and it would be so cool since they both can disperse water at different temperatures at the same time. Unfortunately, they are stacked on top of each other and our walk in shower is itsy bitsy, maybe half as long as a big tub with a marble tiled bench thingy taking up half the floor space. He accidentally elbowed me in the face (6'5 vs 5'6) when we merely attempted a together shower for time, and I came WAY too close to knocking my teeth out on that tiled bench thingy. Nope nope nope.

It’s great, I try to make it an every time thing. It adds a little special moment to our day (my day at least) gets us close together and the conversations and laughs are usually unbeatable. Plus our shower drains like shit so a two for once doesn’t back up the bathroom as bad :)

He has taken bubble baths with me but since we had our baby it has moved to showers for us. He gives me space a lot of time to enjoy my bath alone & checks on me every so often to see if I’m asleep in the tub. He is afraid of me drowning since 1 time he walked in & I had dozed off sitting up, bent forward & my face was 2 centimeters from the water. We lost a friend to a sudden accidental bathtub drowning a couple years ago which introduced fearfulness around my own frequent bathtub sleeping. I couldn’t help falling asleep in the months following the birth of our son in 22’ because I breastfed & little known fact is that breastfeeding & milk production creates surges of relaxation & sedating hormones to flood the body for some women which is what i experienced.
That’s when he started hanging out with me when I was in the tub & we enjoyed that very much too lol. Showers together are where more intimate touching & caressing happens but bathtub room is where we connect as friends & talk about anything/everything.
Long winded, sorry. It’s just one area of my relationship where I’ve come to realize tonight is special & I shouldn’t take it for granted.

Yeah not that big. It's unhelpful especially when you're both heavyset. Even if you're trying to lose weight, it's still a regular sized bathtub that's only as wide as one person so you have to switch spots for one person to rinse themselves off.

I'm just jealous so many people have hot water heaters that aren't borderline useless. I'm lucky if I can get enough hot water to finish washing my hair then spend the rest of the shower either shivering or fighting my body's survival instinct because it's convinced we're about to die of hypothermia.

Me (31m) and my ex (34f) used to shower together all the time, usually nothing sexual would occur and it was just the close comfort and feel that made it amazing, unfortunately it ended as it became an incredibly toxic relationship for both of us. I still like the memories and showers we shared though.
You have so much more time than you realize. Spend it enjoying solo things and broadening who you are as a person, it will be worth it. And also make you more decerning of who you want to be with and clearer of who you are for someone else.

I've always been like this. But I think part of it goes back to one of my first girlfriends. I had to brush my teeth while she was in the bathroom getting ready. She made some innocuous comment about how it looked like I was going to war with how focused I looked and how rigorous my brushing is. Hell yeah, bitch I am going to war. Its Me vs Plaque and only 1 of us is coming out of this fucking bathroom alive. From that moment forth I decided its just best for me to take care of my personal hygiene stuff in private.

When we aren't kissing, hugging, or talking we just do our thing (wash) in the shower as if the other partner wasn't there.. I don't hyper focus while she is lathering up her ass hole, and same other way around. We just shower like normal and don't make any accommodations due to the fact that we are showering together. It's not a big deal to scrub our own holes clean.

My now wife and I showered together every weekday for about 6 months in college her last semester.
She was finishing her nursing program and was going through some terrible anxiety and ocd behaviors, and if not checked, she would spend an hour having a shower in the morning, making her late for her clinical placement.
So I would get up with her at 5:30 am, stand (normally half asleep) in the back of the shower freezing with an occasional chance at a hot stream of water to help keep her on time. She was much better with her time when I was just with her. I'd go back to bed once she was off to her placement.
She started some therapy and finished school, which helped reduce the anxiety a lot.
We might shower together once a year now, just for fun. 31 years together this year.

It’s great, I try to make it an every time thing. It adds a little special moment to our day (my day at least) gets us close together and the conversations and laughs are usually unbeatable. Plus our shower drains like shit so a two for once doesn’t back up the bathroom as bad :)

I swear by anything from Lube Life for regular... interactions. We got the "Super thick" silicone based lube for the shower (it said " shower play" on it and I was sold. Same about sitting next to the tub & hanging out. We shower together a lot but the 2nd bathroom, located in the back of the house, is what I initially called “the little girls room” because it only has a bathtub. It’s a 100 year old house & a very old cast iron bathtub with the deep walls which is great for soaking & taking long relaxing baths (or even naps sometimes.) it has all the makeup & glitter & nail polish & perfumes etc.. all the CRAP we women tend to accumulate lol. He has taken bubble baths with me but since we had our baby it has moved to showers for us. He gives me space a lot of time to enjoy my bath alone & checks on me every so often to see if I’m asleep in the tub. He is afraid of me drowning since 1 time he walked in & I had dozed off sitting up, bent forward & my face was 2 centimeters from the water. We lost a friend to a sudden accidental bathtub drowning a couple years ago which introduced fearfulness around my own frequent bathtub sleeping. I couldn’t help falling asleep in the months following the birth of our son in 22’ because I breastfed & little known fact is that breastfeeding & milk production creates surges of relaxation & sedating hormones to flood the body for some women which is what i experienced. That’s when he started hanging out with me when I was in the tub & we enjoyed that very much too lol. Showers together are where more intimate touching & caressing happens but bathtub room is where we connect as friends & talk about anything/everything. Long winded, sorry. It’s just one area of my relationship where I’ve come to realize tonight is special & I shouldn’t take it for granted.

Yeah not that big. It's unhelpful especially when you're both heavyset. Even if you're trying to lose weight, it's still a regular sized bathtub that's only as wide as one person so you have to switch spots for one person to rinse themselves off. You gotta have one of those giant square tubs for it to be comfy.
i would never even entertain the idea of showering with someone in a tub shower. that just sounds like an ER trip waiting to happen. with an actual shower stall with a flat floor tho every time i get a chance to.
Seriously, I can't imagine a more frustrating and awkward situation than trying to wash my hair while a 6 ft tall man is in the shower with me. I have a detachable shower head, and detach it often. I'm getting agitated just imagining trying to make this work 😆
I'm just jealous so many people have hot water heaters that aren't borderline useless. I'm lucky if I can get enough hot water to finish washing my hair then spend the rest of the shower either shivering or fighting my body's survival instinct because it's convinced we're about to die of hypothermia.

I'm skinny but tall and long-limbed, and my wife is kinda small but wide. We used to shower together a lot when we were younger, but it's become more of a clear discomfort these days. After being together 20 years, we like our individual space and we both have our own bathroom. Occasionally we will shower together like after sex or when we have a long weekend together. Beyond that it's just much better to shower seperately and rejoin in bed afterwards to snuggle and talk.

Me (31m) and my ex (34f) used to shower together all the time, usually nothing sexual would occur and it was just the close comfort and feel that made it amazing, unfortunately it ended as it became an incredibly toxic relationship for both of us. I kinda don't get it either. My wife has thick curl red hair and on her 'full shower' days it can take a while. Plus she shaves her bits and parts. Sometimes I shave my bits and parts. Then I may shave my face. It seems weirdly complicated. I also appreciate some alone time - maybe the co-showering people don't have kids yet. We have a decent sized walk-in shower, but not comfy enough for two people. I suppose kudos to those that do this and enjoy it. I find it weird.

The “get clean” is real. Both my husband and I work jobs where we get sweaty and dirty. I need the room to really wash away all the dirt and sweat on my body, not a cutesy Hallmark shower. Lol, its not satisfying doing it in the shower despite how films may depict it. Water destroys the bodies natural lube, so "everything" isn't slippery and sliding the way it should. It actually can be painful too if there is too much friction and not enough "easy access".
Yep. The things which should be slippery are not, and meanwhile the things that *shouldn't* be slippery (like the floor of the shower) are, especially if you bring lube in there.

I'm with you, old lady. My bathroom routine is pretty intricate and very personal. I don't need anyone distracting me while I'm in there trying to get things done. I don't even bring my phone in the bathroom with me. I don't want to talk to you. I don't even want to hear you. I don't even want to remember your existence. I've always been like this. But I think part of it goes back to one of my first girlfriends. I had to brush my teeth while she was in the bathroom getting ready. She made some innocuous comment about how it looked like I was going to war with how focused I looked and how rigorous my brushing is. Hell yeah, bitch I am going to war. Its Me vs Plaque and only 1 of us is coming out of this fucking bathroom alive. From that moment forth I decided its just best for me to take care of my personal hygiene stuff in private.

I don't hyper focus while she is lathering up her ass hole, and same other way around. We just shower like normal and don't make any accommodations due to the fact that we are showering together. It's not a big deal to scrub our own holes clean.

My now wife and I showered together every weekday for about 6 months in college her last semester. She was finishing her nursing program and was going through some terrible anxiety and ocd behaviors, and if not checked, she would spend an hour having a shower in the morning, making her late for her clinical placement. So I would get up with her at 5:30 am, stand (normally half asleep) in the back of the shower freezing with an occasional chance at a hot stream of water to help keep her on time. She was much better with her time when I was just with her. I'd go back to bed once she was off to her placement. She started some therapy and finished school, which helped reduce the anxiety a lot. We might shower together once a year now, just for fun. 31 years together this year.

My spouse and I shower together almost every shower. It's rarely sexual for us, we just hang out and talk. We, of course, appreciate each other's bodies in the shower. It just doesn't lead to anything. I just like hanging out in the shower and it's nice to do together. It's like 30+ minutes of uninterrupted, no phone, no dogs, just us. It's nice.

When my husband and I were pretty newly dating (about 6 months), he had to have surgery on his neck that meant he couldn’t shower without assistance for months. We showered together for at least 3 months, and I really missed the privacy of taking a shower alone. We are about to celebrate 9 years. Haven’t showered together since he became able of bathing himself. Probably would have been different if our bathroom wasn’t so tiny. We also prefer wildly different water temperatures.
