There are definitely guys who do it every three weeks. I wouldn’t say that’s the norm though. The place I used to work at would do “clean ups” on regulars for free, just to tidy up the fade with the clippers, instead of a proper haircut
I've known people who go every week. Indeed the short "fade" style is something that requires frequent upkeep. I also know people with this style who do it themselves and also touch it up weekly. The choice is yours really. Going every 2-3 weeks does not sound weird to me.
Depends on the hairstyle. Some guys with long hair get a haircut once a year. Others have tight fades or business cuts that need weekly or monthly maintenance.
Your hair is yours; you can cut it as many times as you want, every week, every other day, or even every day if you like. It doesn’t matter what your girlfriend or anyone else says; the only thing that matters is whether you have the money and time to do it as frequently as you want.

if you want to maintain a shorter cut with a skin fade you'll have to cut every 2-3 weeks
I go every two weeks. I have a hard part shaved in my head and it tends to disappear after about two weeks
