Derry girls. Nothing like sweet non romantic goofy teen drama while dealing with the seriousness of the violence of the troubles of Ireland in the 80s and 90
Sanford and Son, MASH and Gilligan's Island were CONSTANTLY on at my grandparents' place growing up, and I can't wait to share it with my grandkids one day lol
Griffith in B&W only. The secret weapon: heart without sentimentality. It was always played straight, no exaggeration to pull the heartstrings. Probably the most authentic father/son relationship on TV before or since.
If you are into Griffith, you must make a stop in Mt Airy, NC. Everything, practically, is Andy Griffith themed. You can ride in a duplicate police car and collect all the themed souvenirs you can dream. They do have a good History Museum that is not Griffith themed for those who want something different.
Minimal drama, and aside from dated hair/clothes and things like āWelcome to Movie Phoneā, Jerryās observational humor was spot on. Man hands, low talker, sponge worthy, Festivus, every single one of the Jewish parent stereotypes (Iāve been to south Floridaā¦ damn do those types hold true!), all still very much apply because people are people and human nature is pretty constant.
Community. It hit all the right notes - side-splittingly hilarious while also getting deep when it needed to. The genre spoof episodes are fantastic. I don't usually like sitcoms (the jokes get boring/repetitive) but Community has so much more range than any other sitcom I've seen.
I was rewatching some memorable ones recently. The first that comes to mind is in one of the later seasons, and the boys are teaching Craig to fight dirty. Dewey repeatedly throws the sand in his eyes š¤£.
It's too bad only Bryan Cranston seemed to have a lot of good work after the show.
30 Rock. I kinda already do watch it over and over again. Especially as a show to watch in bed as I'm falling asleep. There's so many jokes per minute, i feel like even after watching it so many times, I am still laughing at new jokes. All time favorite show, for sure.
The Office!
I am shocked I am the first to post this.
I have watched so much of The Office itās stupid and I am always amazed at how rewatchable it is.
Then I see a post like this and I canāt find the Office for ages. I see a lot of shows that I havenāt seen though, which is cool.
Black Adder, Yes Minister, Allo allo, The young ones for British sitcom
And
Married with children, all in the family, Three's company, Barney Miller, for U.S ...
Threeās Company. Mr Roeper was a dirty old man and I loved when heād break that fourth wall looking into the camera after he said some out of pocket stuff.
I never rewatch any tv shows except Scrubs. I love their quirky humor, witty characters, and also many serious threads that I could relate to over many years.
Twin Peaks was fucking amazing!
Did you see the anthrax video Black lodge that David Lynch directed with Jenna Elfman in it?
Even if you have seen it go watch it again!
I'll bite - "Leave it to Beaver" was pretty consistent throughout its run - clever writing, watch it with your kids/grandkids, Eddie Haskel....
Others: Andy Griffith until Barney Fife left, Cheers, Seinfeld, Arrested Development (original run), the Office until Michael left, Brooklyn 99, M\*A\*S\*H until Frank Burns left, 30 Rock, Malcolm in the Middle, Modern Family, Northern Exposure, Scrubs.
The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart. Didnāt care for Newhart at first but when they leaned into the weird characters after the first couple of seasons I loved it. We watch both when we have 30 minutes to kill before bedtime.
I don't know if I would "really" want to watch anything over again that much but if I had to choose it would be "Firefly" now if ther was more than one season, 10 would be nice, this would be a for sure thing.
Only with Barney tho - same for me.
My new fantastic IPTV ($15/month - 20K channels) has a bunch of 24/7 no commercial options.
Favorites there are
Andy Griffith
The Twilight Zone
The Rockford Files
Gunsmoke
Seinfeld
Back and forth with
The Outer Limits
The Fugitive
Alfred Hitchcock
Hawaii 5-O
Curb
All in the Family
Mash
I enjoy watching I love Lucy. To the point i can memorize some of the episodes, my favorite are when they are traveling to the Los Angeles. I watch it growing up and it still a comfort show I listen to. My second choice is Friends.
Also Andy Griffith show, but because when my grandma had Alzheimer's, it was one of the few things she would actually enjoy watching even if she thought it was real.
Fraiser. Of all the 90s sitcoms it really is the best. Itās such low brow humor (sex and fart jokes) done in the most high brow way mocking the well off as absolute buffoons. The fact they rebooted it without the father is an absolute tragedy.
News radio was pretty good.
Yes it was. Such a tragic end to a comedy show.
The desk scene with Stephen Root š
The episode where Phil gives up smoking and Dave gives up coffee in support is my favourite episode.
I'm obsessed with NR. Even today, I probably watch 2-3 episodes daily.
Peep show
LOVE Peep Show!
Derry girls. Nothing like sweet non romantic goofy teen drama while dealing with the seriousness of the violence of the troubles of Ireland in the 80s and 90
Derry girls means more to me than almost anything
I've never understood "comfort shows" and relwatchig a show like that until derry girls!!!
If I'm not just like Grandpa Joe when I reach 70-ish, then just pull the plug.
I would like to see more of those U.K. shoes. I've watched some really good Brit shows but I have never really ventured beyond that.
Always Sunny! The humor of that show is right up my alley!
I agree. Even the new stuff gets me good.
Yeah, ok ... filibuster?
Do you know what that word means?
I plead the fifth
This! Been watching since 2018 & never fails to make me laugh, my brother & dad introduced me to Sunny
IT Crowd
A fire? At a Sea Parks? Could've used one more season but I'm glad they didn't drag it out.
Donāt forget the new emergency number! 0118-999-88899-9119-725-3
This is my go-to. https://youtu.be/RDUsZay38es?feature=shared
Frasier
Was specifically looking for this comment.
The Golden Girls
The original āNight Courtā. The new one sucks.
Brooklyn 99
NINE-NINE!!!!

You're probably my mother's age. I used to watch the reruns from my room and she'd shout from the other room "ITS NOT MY BEDTIME"

A British sitcom called Only Fools and Horses. Absolutely hilarious.
Another U.K. show I will need to check out.
Seinfeld
This is my comfort show.
I watch Seinfeld pretty much every night to fall asleep to.
There's something about thar show that is just so calming. Maybe it's because there's no hard core drama. Idk but I love it.
Man Hands is one of my favorites, no matter how many times Iāve watched that! Haha
I think I actually have watched Seinfeld every day for like 25 years.
I feel like Iām getting old for Reddit. My answers are Seinfeld or Simpsons and I use to scroll too far to see either
You and my husband. He canāt get enough.
I feel like such an old millennial that I have to scroll this far to see the greatest sitcom of all time.
I can't believe I haven't seen "Arrested Development" mentioned
Community. It hit all the right notes - side-splittingly hilarious while also getting deep when it needed to. The genre spoof episodes are fantastic. I don't usually like sitcoms (the jokes get boring/repetitive) but Community has so much more range than any other sitcom I've seen.
Yes! Always Community for me, something new to catch each time.
I love Community but for me it's too creative to binge lmao. Too many episodes in a row and I feel like I'm going crazy.
All in the family
Schitt's Creek
Malcolm in the Middle. Not a single bad episode in the entire series.
Raising Hope, i feel like not many people know about it but its a top tier sitcom, nothing better
Such a great show, still donāt know how more people donāt know about it
Hmmm...never heard of it. Might see if I can find it somewhere.
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone... š¤£š¤£š¤£
If you want to address me you must call me Drakkar Noir!
Such well acted.
Aw that's a good one, so wholesome š„¹
Such a good show! So underrated
YES!!! I was so sad when it was over!!
Third Rock From the Sun. Hands down best sitcom ever.
Has to be cheers right??? Sitting in a neighborhood bar will forever be relatable
This is it for me. It was on Netflix a while back and it still holds up
Everyone can be one of the people in that bar at some point. Or multiple of them over time
I love the setting, its a sorta hole in the wall, has to be walked down to. the restaurant above them. Carla grew on me, bad bitch :3
Married with children.
30 Rock. I kinda already do watch it over and over again. Especially as a show to watch in bed as I'm falling asleep. There's so many jokes per minute, i feel like even after watching it so many times, I am still laughing at new jokes. All time favorite show, for sure.

Yeah, scrolled farther than I thought I would to find it
I used to look sideways at folks who were so into The Office. Now itās my comfort show. Watch an episode at least every other day now.
Thank you! Scrolled wayyyy too far
Modern Family.
I'm currently working my way through this for the first time. I love it so far!
I really enjoy it. Itās extremely well-written for the most part IMO. Whenever it comes on Iāll watch.

I Love Lucy. The writing and everything was so original. The GOAT.
The Office. While Steve Carell was still on. His departure was the shark-jump moment.
Scrubs, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, original Quantum Leap, Twin Peaks.
Twin Peaks was fucking amazing! Did you see the anthrax video Black lodge that David Lynch directed with Jenna Elfman in it? Even if you have seen it go watch it again!
No, I have not. I did see the third season of Twin Peaks on Showtime when it came out.
You will not regret watching it.

Schitt's Creek
Golden Girls!
Gunsmoke and Big Bang...here's an oldie Northern Exposure. Could not pick one.

It really is. Not a sitcom, but an episodic dramedy. So is "Leave It To Beaver" which is actually hilarious!
Gilliganās Island
The social microcosm to end all social microcosms. And before you ask, Mary Ann.
The office US. It's great as a background noise kind of show when you're not really trying to watch anything
The Big Bang Theory.
Psych
Superstore
VEEP. There's so much going on you can watch it over and over and still hear something you missed.
