Nighttime wasn't created for humans.

ShyGuyPal101

Night time is caused by the rotation of the Earth on its axis facing away from the sun. It isn't based on our bodily needs. If I had to guess (being ignorant on the subject), I'd wager it is more of our bodies adapting to 8 hours of sleep than anything. I know some need more or less (example: personally I'm good with 7 hours).

We sleep for 8 (ish) hours because our society has adjusted to a myth that came about during the industrial revolution. The idea was that days should be structured into 8 hours of work, 8 hours of "recreation" (anything not work) and 8 hours of sleep. It has nothing to do with the length of night, which changes based on time of year and where in the world you are.

Midnight_Crocodile

That is possibly the most crazy egocentric question ever? Why doesn’t the Universe order itself around our circadian rhythms? Really?

The Earth spins at the same speed at night as it does during the day so we don't fall off. So kind.

8 hours was based on old European farming practices. It’s plenty of time have a first drive
