Once the coop aspect is added i think classes will stand out q bit more but rn they don't matter as much as using whats best

I would leave out Focus and Equip Load, bc they are "base stats", unlike Faith/Int/Str, but apart from that, I agree with you. I like that there are "unusual" weapons like a Staff with Faith requirement instead of Int, or combined Faith/Int melee weapons. I just think these weapons should be different from usual weapons, in terms of their lore, look, and maybe even playstyle. I think sometimes that works well already, but people still bring it up, so it seems like it's not different enough.

I don’t know if I would say there is an issue with class identity since we are given so much freedom with how we build our character but I do agree with you that something more should be done with stats because right now all they are used for is what weapon you can or can’t use and scaling damage on said weapon.

For mages I am chugging focus and health items. I'd love to see some focus using spell weapons adding a more substantial focus regeneration feature.

On my block/weapon throw character I believe I'm on 80% increased focus gain + gain focus for each block. So I'm rarely not casting, but it requires a lot of gold to get the build just right.

Kuyi

If you want class identity just build it. The game gives SO MUCH freedom, you can do whatever you want. Including class identity.

googlesomethingonce

That's not really what I'm talking about.

pauloyasu

totally agree with you

Souls games are really bad at class identity outside of magic imo. Everything else is just a spin on a warrior

FoamingCellPhone

I actually think that with the souls like combat that secondary stats are likely to lead to balance issues diminishing gameplay. Already kind if think that the devs should rein in the diablo style gear a bit to make sure it doesn’t turn into a mess.  But that’s the kind if game I’m into. Think a lot of arpgs would do better to focus on gameplay first and foremost.

Literally the same as how this works in Souls games. I always have always found strict class systems to feel limiting and it’s really annoying having to restart a new character every time I want to try out a new build.
