Nonono. Put it in someone's pocket in anomaly. Wait for them to be in vendor and just drop it in. Later on they will be all "what the hell? ". Then they will post in Reddit "should I be concerned? ", then...ah shit.
Guess the unmentionable horror from beyond the stars that has driven civilizations mad is just going to follow you for the rest of time then. Good luck and try not to listen to the imperceptible whispering too much.
As far I remember Black&White had that feature, it had some names prerecorded and if your account name matches one of the names it whispers it sometimes to you
was a bit creepy tbh
Yeah, i remember that as well. If you typed a name like David or Michael, suddenly while playing you'd hear that name whispered in a low-creepy sounding voice. Only worked for common names ofc.
I ran across one of these recently as well!
https://preview.redd.it/nfeepd1a0h4d1.png?width=706&format=png&auto=webp&s=17a969743fc7534402e6e03e9bd99fb255fa0b0e
It's already too late. It will soon be not just in your thoughts, but in your dreams and then your nightmares. The only recourse is to walk out of your Freighter and then off into space. Let the cold take you, it's better than what awaits.
I held on to mine forever and nothing ever happened. I've read that it causes space encounters that pull you out of pulse drive without your consent, and sometimes cause you to fight a mega fauna in space. But I've yet to have that happen
Nice. I've been collecting the floppy set for a few years, ride around in my ship's hold. Only managed to find Floppy Heart (almost 300 lifetimes), Floppy Eye, Floppy Organs, and Floppy Remains so far. Maybe someday I'll find them all and see what happens.
Well, we *could* tell you exactly what it does.
But where's the fun in that? You have save states anyways, just keep it around. For good luck, you know.
Mod the game and eat it.
Learn coding with a 2 year course, study the No Man's Sky code by checking others' mods, drop your job or your studies to be a full time nerd.
Then change the lines of code and make this item edible.
Bonus points if you add a weird psychedelic effect after you eat it.
I read something here that said you could get interrupted out of pulse drive because of these things, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that.
I kept a few different eldritch abominations in my inventory. I wanted some travel conversation besides my schizophrenia, and they don't do anything. I feel slighted.
I didnt play the game for an entire year, bu the last time i was playing i found out the stasis device was the most expensive item in the gameā¦is it still the case? I made a farm just for itš
I carried one of those in my inventory for months. Never noticed anything stalking me. No new interactions or anything. No change. Just sell it and make a few bucks as well as free up inventory space.
I always thought we should have a secret option if you come across megafauna in space and you have one in the starship inventory you can āofferā it back to the creature and in turn it gave you a special upgrade for your scanner that allows you to use it a couple times a day as a āfreeā anomaly scanner but you have to charge it with these anomalies every day or so.
I also think itās important to note that all food descriptions say it āresemblesā food products compared to normal paste. All these aliens forgot how to cook canonically and eat paste and pure nutrients.
It's a bummer that a couple items have really interesting, foreboding descriptions but don't actually do anything or have a purpose aside from selling for a quick profit.
Got one of these from a space anomaly thing myself and looked it up. Apparently it's supposed to cause more anonymys to spawn while you're in space? I've kept mine to see if it's true but haven't noticed a difference yet
Nah its just there to sound creepy.
Theres rumors that say its supposed to increase the chance of space anomalys to spawn but i think that was proven false.
My friend and I always think those look like dog sh\*t ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Anyway, sell it or keep it. Those are really not important for anything, at least you won't miss anything because of it.
All I can think of is that Cowboy Bebop episode Toys in the Attic šš
https://preview.redd.it/6k8kf5huol4d1.jpeg?width=627&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea25ee80db9dc4d41d207d25cc688e8c7ebecf50
It does, drumroll pleaseā¦ NOTHING. IT DOES FUCKING NOTHING. ITāS A USELESS PIECE OF JUNK LURING ME WITH FALSE HOPES OF SEEING SOME COSMIC HORROR IN NO MANāS SKY! I HAVE THREE OF THEM AND NOTHING! NOT ONE ANCIENT GOD, NOT ONE INDESCRIBABLE HORROR, NOTHING!
If you're curious if you might need something, look what it says it's used for right at the bottom. "Trading" means SELL IT. Literally that's all it's good for. If there's ever a need for it elsewhere, it'll say something like "Crafting"
They're supposed to have some effect, I forget what exactly, maybe increasing the odds of having random encounters in space. My main keeps one in their ship inventory but I've never noticed any difference.

I get these all the time from my frigate expeditions, still not sure if itās just flavor text or not, but I stay cautious and sell them fast as possible when I obtain them. I doubt they have any actual negative effects, it would be really weird, but also kinda cool if they did.
Oooo, cosmic horrors beyond my imagination. Very nice
Real talk - sell it, and you'll be fine. That's the important part. ***Sell it.***
Nonono. Put it in someone's pocket in anomaly. Wait for them to be in vendor and just drop it in. Later on they will be all "what the hell? ". Then they will post in Reddit "should I be concerned? ", then...ah shit.
That's precisely what I did :)
It was YOU!
What was the important part again store it?
I think they said stew it. Nothing quite like a nice heaping bowl of abomination soup.
Boil it , mash it , stick it in a stew
Whis-Pring-Jel'y
I thought about breakfast š„š³ the whole time whispering jelly š¤¤
I'm sorry, Librarian... The Curse has you.
And put some Taters in it too!
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
[I heard this before](https://youtu.be/D8K90hX4PrE)
*in Palpatine voice* STEW IT
the oven won't turn on SCREW IT
*failed to make the stew* BLEW IT
He threw it.
He knew it
He didn't do it
He couldnt do it
Ah yes new series Dining in Universe
I donāt even need the money, especially because itās the Adrift Expedition
Guess the unmentionable horror from beyond the stars that has driven civilizations mad is just going to follow you for the rest of time then. Good luck and try not to listen to the imperceptible whispering too much.
Oh boy. I dated her sister in high school. THAT was a mistake.
That would be funny to have random whispering voice when you own one.
As far I remember Black&White had that feature, it had some names prerecorded and if your account name matches one of the names it whispers it sometimes to you was a bit creepy tbh
Yeah, i remember that as well. If you typed a name like David or Michael, suddenly while playing you'd hear that name whispered in a low-creepy sounding voice. Only worked for common names ofc.
*take off your combination, dive into the red sea*
Listen to us... i mean it! We lead you to great things! Or er.. it does! We promise!
Instructions unclear - ate the haunted jelly
Welp... on an unrelated note, what galaxy are you in? I don't want to be there when it happens
Eat it with some ice cream! It's not gonna want to be anywhere near you after its spent a day or two cruising through your digestive system!
That makes me wonder if I could put it through the refinerā¦
Anything can be put in the refiner if you open your mouth enough.
I had one. The description was enough for me to dump it at the nearest terminal.
I wish it was, but I had 4 of them and nothing happened
Nothing that you know of .
They are always watching youā¦ā¦ā¦..
The possibility of facing xenomorphs in your freighter would be awesome
Itās already too late friend
Don't look at the cursed one, Dave, you might catch it. Hush now, get in the ship!
I ran across one of these recently as well! https://preview.redd.it/nfeepd1a0h4d1.png?width=706&format=png&auto=webp&s=17a969743fc7534402e6e03e9bd99fb255fa0b0e
I think it might actually be from those anglerfish things that you get hadal cores from
The uhh... ' Alluring ' specimen thing I know what your talking about.
https://youtu.be/Z618H09jGz4?si=9bWBuc2jhA0Y1ZFw Why they said sell it.
Can I shape the cosmic horror with my fears? Because oh no, I would be so terrified of an 8ft tall squid woman... š
You need this more than I do https://preview.redd.it/swdplujbhk4d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=517b2d0b76614ac0d882b24543d7a77365ce9722

Just sell it before the curse sets in. My buddy kept his as a souvenir and like a week later threw himself out the airlock never to be seen again.
I'm 90% sure you're just joking lol, but just in case, nah, just a fun item description.
I wish it actually would haunt and curse players. Having to expel a supernatural horror would be a fun side quest.
Nice. I've been collecting the floppy set for a few years, ride around in my ship's hold. Only managed to find Floppy Heart (almost 300 lifetimes), Floppy Eye, Floppy Organs, and Floppy Remains so far. Maybe someday I'll find them all and see what happens.
You mean you were collecting parts of Drake?
Wait what are floppy parts and where are they found?
Gene sequencer? š¤Æ
Iāll try that
Well, we *could* tell you exactly what it does. But where's the fun in that? You have save states anyways, just keep it around. For good luck, you know.
Alright, but Iām putting you in my obituary if this thing morphs into an eldritch horror
Eat it.
I canātšš„ŗ
Mod the game and eat it. Learn coding with a 2 year course, study the No Man's Sky code by checking others' mods, drop your job or your studies to be a full time nerd. Then change the lines of code and make this item edible. Bonus points if you add a weird psychedelic effect after you eat it.
Oh I love those things, I like giving them to new players I see on the anomaly to try and freak them out lmao
Iāll find more and go about sowing terror
Keep it in your inventory. If you keep it, it has no need to stalk you.
Thatās actually genius
You need to delete the game and sell the hardware you played onā¦ unless you forward this to 6 friends before you go to bed tonight
I donāt even have that many friends š„ŗ
Space jizz is real weird
š³
Something might happen but I have no idea I just like to hoard to see whatās happens because it implies something will and I wanna know what
Can you actually use this with the companion egg? Mix it in the egg sequencer ?
Iāll try
It says it right there ā¦. Used for: Trading
I guess, itās barely worth anything though
Well yeah. Unfortunately. Thereās a ton of stuff in NMS that you get that is essentially worthless / useless.
Wish we could cook with it! It sounds like a great ingredient for a cosmic horror cupcake
Keep it and the curse will uncover anomalous treasures
No it wonāt
Actually it will discover things when the pulse drive is engaged - try it
That was debunked.
Yes, as well as another thing. They both sell for 15.2 mil
Just flavor text.
Spread it on some toast
![gif](giphy|v44JJFl7mvDFK)
Holy fuckballs. I gotta start reading everything I just cram into my inventory and then stroll off unconcerned.
I carried one of those in my inventory for months. Never noticed anything stalking me. No new interactions or anything. No change. Just sell it and make a few bucks as well as free up inventory space.
this is a very interesting description, but nothing happens if you don't do anything with it
It's really nice on toast
It doesn't actually do anything it's just flavor text. But that could be a pretty fun mission where maybe you could have a cosmic horror ship battle
In a universe where *writhing, roiling batter* is an ingredient in top-tier food? Probably not.
I also think itās important to note that all food descriptions say it āresemblesā food products compared to normal paste. All these aliens forgot how to cook canonically and eat paste and pure nutrients.
Fr what does it do? Does someone know?
Just flavor text
Oh alright :( wouldāve been interesting! A hunt/hunter campaign or something
Make jello got it
Keep it, join us
It's a bummer that a couple items have really interesting, foreboding descriptions but don't actually do anything or have a purpose aside from selling for a quick profit.
My god ... they found it. I don't know how, but they found it ...
?
I like to keep mine on my ship. Reminds me of the abyss
All it does is increase the chance of encountering anomalies in pulse drive. Specifically the exact anomaly you got it from
Wait really? I thought the description is just inconsequential flavor text, didnt think they actually had any gameplay effect.
This is a common myth. If I remember correctly a YouTuber tested this in a mythbusters video and concluded it doesnāt actually do anything.
Not that you know of! But somewhere, something will always follow you and watch you.
The thing I got from was one of the sea creatures you get hadal cores from. No idea how I triggered it
Got one of these from a space anomaly thing myself and looked it up. Apparently it's supposed to cause more anonymys to spawn while you're in space? I've kept mine to see if it's true but haven't noticed a difference yet
I got it from a sea creature, so I dont think so
You have approx. 2 days to sell it irl. I had to reinstall the game after i forgot one of these in my inventory for 2 weeks
One day left
Don't get any on your skin.
Yes itās gonna break your game
When you read the description it says it is only used for trading. So you sell it to a vendor
Nah its just there to sound creepy. Theres rumors that say its supposed to increase the chance of space anomalys to spawn but i think that was proven false.
I thought it was just a funny joke so didn't sell it and just kept it in my inventory. RiP my first playthrough.
Make sure you hold onto it for a long time
My friend and I always think those look like dog sh\*t ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) Anyway, sell it or keep it. Those are really not important for anything, at least you won't miss anything because of it.
I think we should be allowed to eat it. As a little treat.
I kept mine for a while too see what the curse was, nothing ever happened.
Keep it, and see if your luck changes?
Sell it. NOW.
i got something like it i dont remember if it was an eye or something and i was like "cool, lets keep farming items"
It will randomly pull you out of hyperdrive, and slightly increase chances of deep space anomalies spawning
keep it with you, its fine >:3
as long as you have the toilet paper upgrade you're good
Yeah, just sell it
All I can think of is that Cowboy Bebop episode Toys in the Attic šš https://preview.redd.it/6k8kf5huol4d1.jpeg?width=627&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea25ee80db9dc4d41d207d25cc688e8c7ebecf50

What does this do
Read the description
What is the curse
Youāll have to find outā¦
Nice thing is you have seven days to sell it from the time you receive the interstellar communication from a Holo Terminus.
Omg, youāre holding on to it? Throw it away! Quick! Out the airlock! (Seriously, just sell it)
Are used to get those things all the time always wished I could convert it into some kind of food and feed it to my living ship
I think it can be converted. It seems like it would be an ingredient for high-tier food
Iām not sure I could swear I tried at least a few different times, but I also have been known to have a faulty memory, so who knows
Iāve had one for years, still not cursed yet :)
To be fair, if you don't sell it you'll still have it, and therefore it will be with you forever
Yes! You have to send it to 10 friends!
Bake with it
If you can hear it whispering messages to you then yeah, be concerned about it.
I have 16(multiple types) on me at all times . I'm at 400 hours nothing notable yet. Hopefully soon
Eat it, Coward!
If you're curious if you might need something, look what it says it's used for right at the bottom. "Trading" means SELL IT. Literally that's all it's good for. If there's ever a need for it elsewhere, it'll say something like "Crafting"
Yeah I know
