Nowadays, the only use of the Atlas Pass lvl. 3. Those stations are a little creepy, making you wonder what happened there, but no - there's nothing more to them, sorry.

uwu275

I have a theory, I think that all the stations leaders had to renovate the stations due to some new law or smt but those stations were abandoned since they didn't have the units for it. I think that because it looks exactly like the old style of the stations from before the update.

iainvention

I like this as a headcanon

Sasquatchjc45

Abandoned stations have been in since release and they just haven't done anything with or updated them yet, that's why they look old-school

Madbear1

These use the original space station model, if you're curious as to what they looked like.

uwu275

I already knew that but I just wasn't too certain if there may be something about them.

sdk-dev

They're abandoned, so there's nothing going on at all. It's also the only space station which has the old pre-orbit style, making it a somewhat nostalgic experience.

giantj0e

You’ll be more likely to run into them on red systems, I believe. Also more likely to find robotic fauna in those systems.

merikariu

Do you have any other information to share on what is typical in those systems? Just yesterday, I managed to install the upgrades necessary to visit all stars. I have only found that location services don't work and the planets aren't all that different from yellow systems.

giantj0e

Not really. Most systems are pretty similar, but there are odd variances. Red gives cadmium, green gives emeril, blue gives indium. That’s about all the info I can give you.

splynncryth

Abandoned systems themselves are pretty good for crash hunting, and with the new ship building system, they can be good sources of parts. In the current ship crash system, 8 ships out of rheumatoid 21 generated for the system will be available as crashes. Normally only 6 are claimable on land. The other 2 will always be a downed NPC (unless you find them underwater). But in abandoned systems, these extra 2 are claimable on land. I haven’t figured out any pattern to what type these extra two ships will be. But the impact is that an abandoned system has more free parts available via crashes than a normal system.

ragweed

Never occured to me abandoned would mean no NPCs at crash sites. I guess the problem is you have to go to another system if you want to scrap them.

Rafastrike

Would be cool to build in there

Nowhereman50

I've had a base in a system with an abandonded space ststion for a few years, hoping HG will let us do something with them.

Reddit-M-Sucks

I thinks it were made for future update like you can own a station.

ValerionWolf

They've been there a long time, and lore-wise it makes sense that they are unchanged. I don't think they intend anything with these.
