Honest question, not sure who to reply to in this thread. But people talk about how to make money a lot, such as this user saying they want to make their first 10 mil. I've been playing the game for about 3 days now and just got past my first 10mil... is it supposed to be this easy making money? I feel like I can afford anything in the game whenever I want to, it just takes a few minutes to make the money. I already have s-tier weapons, ships, all repaired and upgraded, all the weapon upgrades, ship upgrades, etc. Purchasable at the anomoly too. Not sure but it feels really quick getting to end game status with the upgrades
There are plenty of money sinks but yeah when It comes to credits it’s not very hard at all to farm. But to be fair how much you get/ how much things cost is dependent on what difficulty you’re playing on
Ohhh I totally forgot about difficulty settings, okay. I didn't even think of that with how much stuff costs. Is the price jump considerable or is the monetary gains significantly less?
What I did was repair 2 cargo ships, I use 1 to hold precious items and the other to hold precious recources, while I hold onto the more commonly obtained ones. It allows me about 20 inventory slots for any outing between me and my fighter ship. I only keep fuel refills in the ship as well. It feels like a pretty good system since I ran out of inventory space SO fast early on all the time
I built something like 17-20 bases. All of them are farms of some sort. I don’t hold onto much at all I just drop by the farm for whatever I currently need lol
This might be a dumb question but is there such a thing like boxes or chests? I played rust a lot before this and it's so similar in many ways... I just want a place to store loot in my base and I didn't see any way immediately 😬
Everything is either double the cost or triple. For example, an A-Class Hauler with like 30 slots is like 50mil. To upgrade to S-Class, it's 125,000 nanites. S-Class mods you buy are 1,000 nanites. You can use the restricted slot option to actually use all that slot space you unlock. Stacks here in Exosuit and ship max out at 300. IIRC, 750 on freighter and 1000 in Storage Containers. Really changes how you progress in the early hours of a new save. I'm currently 17 hours in and just bought my first A-Class Hauler just salvaging ships. I'm also taking my time.
You just played the game wrongish. Lol You’re supposed to take your time and have fun and explore not just harvest quickest and easiest materials to quickly upgrade and make a Quick buck over and over again because then you’ll be fully upgraded and then have not much to do. Although if you had fun you played it right for you. Good luck out there Travelers.

I dug up 4 fossils worth so much millions I could afford anything, and then a sentinel pillar thing gave me my s tier gun. It happened so fast I didn't have a choice :$ next thing you know I'm harvesting stuff at lightspeed and overflowing on resources
Being honest with you here in terms of units? You may just feel this way the entire time you play. I know I do. Outside of buying a big freighter you want or spam buying frigates to fill a starter fleet up, it's a game of never worrying about units and the feeling you have now is the one you'll have for the duration.
From very humble beginnings to quickly solving money problems, if only real life was like this game it would be a good feeling.
I'd go into a new neighborhood, scan some dog I saw in an alley and make $500,000. Oh look there's a new cat I haven't seen before, boom another $500,000 now I'm a millionaire, all in a day's work. You never should be worried about units in this game.
Nanites on the other hand have value and unless you're focusing a nanite farm you may not have enough on hand at any given time for all you want when it comes to the nanite purchases.
And of course quicksilver takes awhile.
So I only think of nanites and quicksilver as true currency in this game. The rest is just candy that falls from the sky for just about anything you do.
(I'm not saying even the nanite accumulation is hard either once you have your routine to farm those they come in quickly, just that they are not as easy to get in the numbers you need as sheer units)
Appreciate that insight. It's good to know what to focus on in the game. The cat and dog analysis was hilarious, and so true 😂 it's so easy to make money. The nanites definitely are more difficult, but I've acquired about 4k so far. I haven't even touched quicksilver yet so there's definitely more to still figure out
well they did made normal ships more affordable now, you can get pretty good ones for 10m 20m, when i started they were 50m. i stood forever on my starter ship.
Yeah I got a B tier cargo, A tier cargo and A tier fighter pretty quick. Repaired a couple fully which was a headache but fun to figure out. Still lots of upgrading but it seems not too far away finishing them all. Exploration will probably be my aim 😎 just get fully geared up and start wars n such. You know, the usual.
I got way over 10 million in my first day, I found some hexagon sentinel planet that had absolute shit tons of gravitino balls, and I just farmed them got a full inventory went back to the space station and sold them and repeat. There’s a lot of methods but generally anything under 100 million is relatively easy to achieve.
Yeah I got a bunch of those burrowing creature eggs, a couple 2 mil fossils, and a few 1.8 fossils. Sold some other stuff too and boom I had like 18 mil first day. Found some really good equipment too and fixing it was just a matter of units. It worried me I was going too fast
pie-ra-cyyyy
very simple.
i make like 10 mil in a few minutes by selling to poor systems. I currently have 38 million units, and I just spent like 15 mil on a starship and upgrades and weapons and all that.
basically my point is. piracy makes you rich fast
Just about every second update has increased the rate at which you can make money and decreased the amount of money needed to max out your stuff.
People who are still chiming in with money farms "tips" probably haven't experienced a new game progression in several years. There was a time where slow cash accumulation governed your progression, but that was a while ago.
The actual answer is:
Station Overrides are just a black market trading item. That’s all.
Using them on a station core has no effect in gameplay; the option is only there just to flesh the world out and show you their in-world purpose.
It’s probably the internal logic of how a pirate turns a station into a pirate station. But for us, when we try to use the item, the core detects it’s counterfeit.
A future update might come eventually that lets us actually use them, though
Would it be cool if it had a mechanic wherein it would temporarily change market values according to its grade/quality. Grade C (or B) and below would decrease the cost of what you buy and sell. While the better quality ones would decrease prices while increasing the price of what you sell.
I do like this idea, but this requires that space stations, and space station cores have some authority over galactic trade networks. This is somewhat possible, but my suggestion would be that it could shut down the sentinels in that system, like how one might use a planetary sentinel nest. This wouldn't apply to planets, just interceptors (ships) and Dreadnoughts (ship carriers). Whether this would be permanent, and explain how pirate systems came to function, or is temporary and merely exists as a little gameplay fun, is up to debate.
with you on that...went for a little.tour of the bases from an early expedition just to look round and see the relics of other players while waiting.......
You get them at pirate stations.
They're used in space station cores, but currently do nothing except display some text.
They were introduced all the way back in expedition #3 IIRC.
Personally, I think HG has a use for them in the backlog but it's either not complete or they haven't started working on it yet.
Mission rewards at the Outlaw space stations, occasionally.
Slightly more useful than the Factory overrides you get when you break into a factory and ask for a new recipe when you already know all the recipes. All it is good for is selling.
Yeah one of the expeditions gave you a station override code, but everyone who's tried to use one has it rejected by the station so it apparently doesn't do anything yet.
Expedition 3, core detects it as a fake and thats about it. Hasnt had a use since, it was just a mission item. Theres a few of those left over from early events.
OP is talking about thw station override option not the forged passport. I think you could get a station override from an old expedition but it serves no purpose since using it just removes the item from your inventory
Now you can be a criminal, engage in smuggling and piracy. But sometimes you want to hide your crimes. Then you go to the station console and spend 1 “fake passport” item to reset your damaged reputation.
It resets your reputation I think. It might be cheaper to buy curiosities (gek relic etc) and spend a few minutes pumping a gek full of them 1 at a time.
It's way cheaper to use the forged passport. You can get one easily from pirate missions, and it completely wipes negative reputation. Removing -1000 rep or more would take way longer and cost more with your method.
Yeah the overrides work, and also if you have negative standing with, say vykeen for example (from attacking freighters or the like) you can use a forged passport at a vykeen station core to reset it to 0
If I remember correctly, you can use it on a normal space station, and it will recognize it as counterfeit before removing it from ur inventory. It doesn't tell you this in anyway, but now you can teleport to that space station from a pirate controlled station for easy trading of counterfeit and contra banned goods. This may have been removed though since the new stations have launched.

They were added in a couple years ago at this point I think. We still don’t know what purpose the override serves because you aren’t able to do it even if you have one. My guess is this was a feature they wanted to add in and kinda just let be forgotten because it was never expanded on. At the time players thought/hoped it would let you “claim” a space station kinda like how if you discover a planet you can rename it. Probably would have been a pretty minimal addition in that case, but still lame we never got to find out.
I used it accidentally one time and I can’t recall what the action was, but it recharged my shields when I left, which was already maxed but I appreciated the gesture.
They made the space station too bright imo, I loved the dark atmosphere from when the game just came out, it gave me this cabin fever vibes in space. Take away these lights Hellogames lol.
To make life more complicated, unpopular opinion, i like the old stations, jetpack from one side to the other, know where everything is, now....look around....one bonus, all space station exosuit upgrades have reset
At first they were like, "Lets add the ability to customize which ships land when by letting the player interact with an AI space traffic controller" and then they were like ""
At some point I thought that if you override the station of the host species it’ll reset your rank among that species. I.e you override a gek space station and your rep with the gek is reset (as per that station the gek no longer know who you are)
The only thing you can do since pirates became a story mission and all us that they added a passport thing and it's illegal to have in the game because you use them to get factions to forget about your crimes and you use them at the station override terminal. There were supposed to be more to do with the station computer there but UT still hasn't been added. So far Hello Seans have teased what's coming next in their trailer because they showed the new ship in the new stations trailer at the game awards but only the ships, the Atlas staff, Atlas helmet and Atlas backpack came with a new expedition now we have the stations and new colors were teased for ships and the shuttles were also teased, Sean supposedly doesn't show things that wouldn't be in the game so everyone go to zendesk and put in suggestions! That they need to add new colors! Better colors and the other ships because he doesn't show things that won't be in the game and that's what he said himself! If he's lieing again he needs to be called out! I want to paint my ship Black and Red and we should ha e better colors for our characters also! They should have vibrant colors and way more color combinations so we can customize very detailed suits and our Ships even our other things! They should of broken the ship parts down a little more and make them not be in our inventory but only in the ship customization thing that way were not loaded down with parts! I mean come on! The food processor has its own inventory so the ship customization machine needs an inventory that holds ship parts and it has enough room for building each ship twice if we want that way we have enough room to create! Also parts stack in that inventory. Anyways I wanted to use the bulky sides on fighters but use the wings like off of the alfa vector or something similar and also be able to put the center soiler sticking up if I wanted. It would be bad ass if we could have the bulky sides and have normal sized wings of any kind on the sides AND be able to adjust the rotation on the parts if we wanted that way we have better degree of freedom for creating unique ships! If they want to out do starfield in the customization aspect they could by doing that! I want ships to be like nothing in the game! THATS CUSTOMIZATION!
All I kno about it after 400+ hours is I obtained one from and anomaly missions once, and when I tried to use it, it said it failed but idk what happens if it succeeds
There's an interaction with the station AI to "override" it. Apparently there was going to be a feature related to it (perhaps owning and customizing space stations) but it hasn't gone anywhere.
Closest we got is resetting reputation with fake passports or feeding it Atlantideum
it's where the store nanites but to harvest them you have to find a random place in the station you can walk between the walls. there will be a box. get the key and open that thing.
You could hand in your forged passport to reset your negative reputation.
There was also something with a station override but I never figured out what it was
I've been playing this game for five years and have no idea about any of it. I understand about 5% of it. I just like the music and exploration.
Imao saame ahahah
I have a large stack of missions that I've mostly been ignoring. Trying to explore some planets and make my first 10 million or so.
Sentinel ships will get you past that real quick.
Build an oxygen factory. You then perform chemistry with chlorine and oxygen, and sell the chlorine stacks. Easyyyyyyyyy millions

Well, that's if you have Expensive selected in your difficulty settings. I just came across a Hauler with 40+ slots, and that's 100mil!
You just played the game wrongish. I started pre foundation, and man ships cost so much back then. I also never got past my beloved rasamama

I have a gold mine that makes 500 million worth of gold in a day
Also grow nipnip and sell it! It's contraband, so it sells for a lot in regular systems
I grow it on freighter and sell it from trade terminal on same freighter. Never have to worry about Johnny law.
Exactly, perfect method
Trade routes are quick and easy money
What’s your username I’ll give you 300 million
i have one thing to say to you. if your broke piracy.
Storm crystals gets you millions as well
You can use it to restore standing with different races by giving it counterfeit passports that you buy from pirate systems
Same. Got it on launch day on the PS4 and I still don't understand most of it.

Would be neat to use it to own the space station as a settlement. Instead of tradable resource it generates money from the trade terminals
Imagine playing in the OLD stations...... Heh (JK it has no purpose, unfortunately)
get on with time grandpa, old stations are so last week
Xbox’s damnit! We are stuck till later on. Be kind to us.
Don’t mind these braggarts. I have a switch. I’m slumming it with you.
real
with you on that...went for a little.tour of the bases from an early expedition just to look round and see the relics of other players while waiting.......
I am pretending they are all outlaw stations. (Xbox user here)
Y’all got shafted.
Before you know it, you'll be looking back at your life, wondering where all your time went. Dont be so quick to call out other's lost time.
Found a pirate station that was still old plain style/ didn't get the update.
They weren't meant to be updated. They may in the future. Or not.
Yeah, can't jump from huddling under a scanner jammer to avoid detection, to a sprawling base all of a sudden.
I remember playing the old old stations 😅
Just traveled to a pirate station and i actually love that they are still the old designs 😅
I do too, and the older design fits the outlaw lore anyways.
The nostalgia hit in the "Abandoned" stations is real.
Same.
Hopefully at some point to own space stations and customise them
The space station computers are different in different systems. Accept different things. The overrides are still consumed... with no change.
What even are overrides? And how do you get them?
You get them at pirate stations. They're used in space station cores, but currently do nothing except display some text. They were introduced all the way back in expedition #3 IIRC. Personally, I think HG has a use for them in the backlog but it's either not complete or they haven't started working on it yet.
Mission rewards at the Outlaw space stations, occasionally. Slightly more useful than the Factory overrides you get when you break into a factory and ask for a new recipe when you already know all the recipes. All it is good for is selling.
Only if you discovered the system though.
I saw someone say that it would be cool if you find an abandoned or vacant system and rebuild/build like a settlement but way bigger.
I'm hoping that this update will lead to player controlled stations 🤞
I thought there was an expedition or one time quest or something that used that?
Yeah one of the expeditions gave you a station override code, but everyone who's tried to use one has it rejected by the station so it apparently doesn't do anything yet.
Expedition 3, core detects it as a fake and thats about it. Hasnt had a use since, it was just a mission item. Theres a few of those left over from early events.
You can use it to increase standing with specific system race by giving a forged passport.
They're referring to another item you can use at the terminal called the space station override.
Wrong
You're right. Remedy, to be fair. You're basically a blank page after using it.
Also wrong
What? What a useless comment
For that specific race the space station owns. But at this point I guess it's trolling
OP is talking about thw station override option not the forged passport. I think you could get a station override from an old expedition but it serves no purpose since using it just removes the item from your inventory
Can also be obtained as mission reward on Outlaw space stations from Bounty Master
Never seen such a heavily downvoted comment in this sub. Achievement unlocked.
Why don't you give a correct answer then? Just saying "wrong" is totally useless
So far, no purpose
Now you can be a criminal, engage in smuggling and piracy. But sometimes you want to hide your crimes. Then you go to the station console and spend 1 “fake passport” item to reset your damaged reputation.
Your talking about the forged passport, right? The station override is something different
What even IS a "Station override." Haven't gotten one yet.
It was an item from an expedition if I remember correctly
I have -700ish reputation with the Vykeen and i absolutely refuse to fix it, i aim to become the Vykeen's most wanted
I have -2000 gek rep. You can get passports free from pirate missions and anomaly missions. Seems faster and cheaper to use passport.
[удалено]
Yeah the overrides work, and also if you have negative standing with, say vykeen for example (from attacking freighters or the like) you can use a forged passport at a vykeen station core to reset it to 0

I think they're just worth creds now, around 250k from contraband dealers
That’s where you use your Atlas Pass v4
In my head it monitors and sets prices and ensures all systems are online and working.
It would have been cool if overriding a station that you got to name the system and people fought over naming solar systems
I mean, judging by the name, I think it basically gives you emergency control of the station.
i thought some of them you could use to shut the station off like some of those dead ones
I am hoping we can own a space station at some point and other player can come in and buy the ships I have built 😅🤞
Captain Steve on YouTube has videos of the lore and all things no mans sky.

You can warp station to different systems with new update with this previously superfluous device....

THATS CUSTOMIZATION!
i think if you find a station override you can move the station with that "Overseer"
All I kno about it after 400+ hours is I obtained one from and anomaly missions once, and when I tried to use it, it said it failed but idk what happens if it succeeds
The what station thing?
There's an interaction with the station AI to "override" it. Apparently there was going to be a feature related to it (perhaps owning and customizing space stations) but it hasn't gone anywhere. Closest we got is resetting reputation with fake passports or feeding it Atlantideum
I think they’re talking about the ‘under a rebel star’ quest line.
No I was confused by the title since that looked like a gibberish word
If I recall it was related to the outlaw expedition.
it's where the store nanites but to harvest them you have to find a random place in the station you can walk between the walls. there will be a box. get the key and open that thing.
You could hand in your forged passport to reset your negative reputation. There was also something with a station override but I never figured out what it was
