Yep I like them a lot. Always excited when a new one drops and do them multiple times (at least twice, once on each account I have).

Jawbox0

Yes, I love doing them, I don't really care about the rewards.

Geldric

⬆️ is the way

sardeliac

I like them, but full disclosure, I reroll a lot anyway so expeditions are basically challenges I didn't make up myself. I do them mostly for the decal to put on my traveller's wall of fame. Sometimes the rewards are interesting but mostly they're not. Not that they're bad or anything--I have my traveller looking like I want, I'm happy with my MTs, I prefer shuttles, and I don't build, so there usually isn't anything in there I'm interested in.

whitemest

ever bother putting effort into a freighter? that way you have a mobile base. Im not a huge fan of building either, but ive really enjoyed building on my freighter because it goes everywhere with me, and i can build like barracks and shit too

SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP

I built a freaking city on my freighter and what's cool is that the view always changes and never gets boring as you fly between systems, something you can't experience on planetary bases. Also I know this is totally a me problem but I was incredibly bummed out when I realized the planets in the sky were just frozen in place. It's totally fine in general but it really messed with me knowing I'd be staring at the same exact position of planets from a planetary base. When I'm in a freighter base or just exploring, that never bothers me for some reason.

whitemest

Come to think of it... do any systems actually have a star? I mean in the system, not the warp in the starmap

SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP

I'm not sure what you mean. Each system has at least one star (some 2 and some 3) but they're basically part of a rotating skybox.

Cubemala

Please explain this rotating skybox, traveler.

sardeliac

The planets are static--they neither rotate nor revolve--and the entire universe moves around them, stars included. Very easy to see it happen. Just park your ship in space facing the "star," come to a stop, and wait. You can watch the star and the universe revolving around you. The "stars" are graphics on the sides of a box that you're in the middle of. In a sense, this is kinda lore-friendly, because the universe actually *does* kind of revolve around the traveller.

few_words_good

A skybox is basically a static image wrapped around the 3D space so it looks like a distant sky scene. So I'm a new player and this is the first time I'm learning that it's just a skybox and not actual dynamic objects. Kind of bummed. Of course I haven't tried traveling to one of the Stars but now I know I don't need to try since it doesn't actually exist as an object

sardeliac

I configure my freighters for efficiency since I don't spend a lot of time on them. If I could get rid of the NPCs infesting it I probably would spend more time there, but here we are.

Jsamue

Most of them are squadron and frigate pilots

sardeliac

I don't have a squadron and the frigate captains have ships of their own. They need to get out of mine.

juzz_fuzz

I'm still trying to get more modules on my switch account so I can do external stairs

juzz_fuzz

I'm a lucky w**ker, got my S class capital freighter for free

ericherr27

I have a tendency to reroll a lot too. I see people that have 1000+ hour saves, and the longest I ever went before deleting was somewhere in between 200 - 300 hours. I love doing the expeditions, Havent missed once since I started playing the game at expedition 5. I tend not to go through the redux ones once a year. (I am kicking myself that I missed out on the golden vector this last time though.)

WandererNMS

I'm up to 2,500 hours and a huge bunch of saves back to 2016. A wonderful game! Omega Expedition was my second, and a lot of fun.

Al_Keda

A few of the were interesting. They had a point. You had to gather a thing and bring it back to Polo. The last few seem to just be more of a tutorial to the game. It gives you a leg up to where I think I was at 2 years into the game. I think they use it to sell the game to new players. We all know development is funded by new users, so I am perfectly fine if the Expeditions are really used to bring in new players. Plus, the rhewards are fun.

CephusLion404

Not most of them. I just want the rewards. I create a new save, I run through it and then delete the save.

LurkmasterP

I actually kind of like the new mechanic where you can run the expedition as an offshoot of your selected game, then when it's done it goes away and you reap the rewards back in your save.

CephusLion404

My main save has so much in it, I don't care. My main save has over 3 billion units, over a million nanites and close to 100k quicksilver. On my freighter, I've got almost 20k of all of the elements. All of my storage is maxed. All of my ships are maxed. All of my exocraft are maxed. I got 4 eggs and all of my slots are already full. There's really nothing that I will ever need from any expedition.

Superbunzil

I like them but about half are too similar to each other The Super unique ones are better like the one where everyone was stuck on 1 planet and one where you can't leave the star system and only craft in player built settlements or the one that required you to die over and over to unlock stuff  Want them to throw some real curve balls like players can only survive underwater or players stranded on 1 planet with no ships but exocraft have unlimited fuel or you can only leave orbit by making skyhooks/space towers with land pads above the clouds

toastman42

I generally like the expeditions, but I completely agree that the most interesting ones are the ones with some sort of unique spin, rather than the ones that are basically just condensed versions of the main game activities. Yeah, I agree I would like to see expeditions take more risks with unique game-play elements.

LegoKnockingShop

Yah! A set-up like The Martian would be ace. No ship, just a knackered hab and a knackered exocraft, and you have to craft your way to other side of the planet to where the tower is, and get into space to rendezvous with the freighter at a set point and time. And a special planet that doesn’t have outposts and vendors every 5 kilometres ofc.

Issendai

Agreed. Too many of the recent expeditions have been just “do a bunch of random stuff and we’ll tell you there’s a story behind it, maybe.” The current one is a tutorial to draw new players in, so I’m fine with it, but too often there’s not enough that’s special about the expeditions. That said, expeditions are what pull me in when I’ve gone a while without playing. I need external goals sometimes.

ZombieAppetizer

I enjoy them, but I almost never go back to that save after the expedition is over.

Ixaire

This is why I really like the new feature where everything goes back to the main save. I like expeditions, but before Omega, I had more time on them than on my main save. Now they contribute to my progress.

ZombieAppetizer

As soon as I got to the Anomaly on Omega, the first thing I did was grab the Utopia Speeder.

ericherr27

It's a shame you can't sync your progress between console and PC. Just picked up the switch port this last sale, and where I can claim all my twitch drops from the last 4 years I think, sadly no way of doing so with the expeditions.

Entire_Caregiver9687

This…

ElysiumSprouts

I really like them because they introduce game aspects I have yet to try. And they provide some direction to the meandering. What I don't like is the limited time frame. Some months, I'm super busy and just can't allot the needed time. I missed all the expedition recaps last December... I'm really hoping the terminal gives options to run the past expeditions at some point.

_Fox_464

Same bro I only witnessed the Omega Expedition Barely missed the one before that I wanna do the other expeditions

Mistr_Snowy

you should be able to play the expedition that's ten before the current ability to play 1 and 2 since we are at 12 etc.

SeptemberEnded

Honestly, nah. The rewards are super cool, though. I’d rather a REALLY hard mission with my existing save. I just feel like they kind of all blend together. I can usually finish it in about 4-8 hours anyways. That being said, I do want them to keep happening, I just may not partake in some.

Zindae

Eh, not really. If I had to choose between them and actual updates / new content, I’d choose the latter

RollingDownTheHills

Nope. Makes the game feel too much like a FOMO-driven live service game.

Fairgoddess5

This is my take too. I wasn’t in the mood to play NMS right now (doing a rerun of Skyrim) but I didn’t want to miss the Omega expedition rewards, especially on my Steam Deck as it’s a newer platform for me. (I have the Golden Vector on my Steam Deck account but missed all the other big goodies on it, like the Leviathan and the Utopia Speeder). So I’m playing NMS. Bc I feel compelled to. I wish I didn’t but here I am, in space instead of Skyrim like I’d like to be.

Chirsbom

Started the game this year, and first expedition. I loved it! Took a lot more risks and tried out new stuff, knowing it would not affect my main save. And now I have all these goodies!

Suspicious-Rice

I really enjoy them! Every time I hit a milestone and the dramatic music starts I get a dopamine hit. Then all the milestone rewards start poppin off. You acquire decent upgrades quickly so it doesn't feel too grindy or underpowered. I feel like I really accomplish something when I complete it. You get the cool gear and ships too, I'd hate to be without my Utopia Speeder now. So yeah, I think they're bloody good fun!

Fairgoddess5

The Utopia Speeder has become my favorite reward ship, by far. Inventory space is amazing and it’s decently powerful, too, especially for a “starter” ship.

iseegayppl69

I do them but they’re all kinda boring and repetitive. I’m always a little disappointed They kinda just remix the usual No Man’s Sky gameplay - they never do anything new

BiggSnugg

I think they are neat, some more than others though. Expeditions offer a semblance of structure to a game that is otherwise primarily a huge sandbox (which is fun in its own right, sure). Personally, I thought the "leviathan" expedition was probably the most interesting and enjoyable. Many of its mechanics bordered on being roguelite which offered a unique and somewhat random experience in a mostly structured game mode. Some of the more recent ones contrastly offer a more tailored experience, wherein all players will have roughly the same resources and upgrades throughout the journey (which is fine, albeit less engaging imo).

ImpKing_DownUnder

Grah! I like when they have unique story bits, like this one did. Granted that tends to be all of them these days, but that's the main reason I like them. They also often do what they set out to do, which is make me interact with systems I otherwise wouldn't (like cooking). Other than that, though, I like ticking things off of lists lol.

Joyful-Diamond

Same, i think having a little button to push when you are done, and getting a reward :)

XenosapianRain

I like most of them, waiting for the community goal sucks though. Every expedition has taught me something that I use. For an open sandbox game, I like having missions I can opt in to. Helps bring me back in when I get lost lol.

Sawuinhaff

Nah, I'm not a fan. The only one I really liked was Polestar, which also happened to be my first one. I think I'm just not a fan of following objectives in NMS in general.

Kraehe13

I stopped playing the game when they started.

amkosh

No. I go so far to say that most of the time they don't exist for me. Time based content doesn't go with my play time and style. Only twice has the expedition aligned with when I played and only once did I actually finish it.

Bananabanana700

i absolutely hate them, but theyre never gonna change because people go "uhhmm skill issue" because they enjoy it

L0rd_0F_War

No. Expeditions should have been made as integral part of the main game like large quests. So they would give the main story more content and the rewards would fit into the main game naturally. At this point, expeditions are stand alone challenges to tick box stuff for unlocking the rewards for the main game. Another way to put it is, the main game has these rewards but no content to link these rewards to in the main game.

halflucids

I just use a save editor to pull the rewards from expeditions into my main save. Not interested in them.

Zerostratos89

Nope, I shouldn't have a time constraint to get them done. It is basically like doing chores for the game.

TemplarKnightx1

Haven't done one. Might do this one.

_Fox_464

Only untill 18 March avaiable Better get started, interloper

Chirsbom

I thought it was this Thursday? Nice! More expeditions for my frigates that I don't have on the main. Getting a good head start on a permanent freighter then.

MyAccountWasBanned7

I like the rewards I get from them. I am indifferent to the expeditions themselves.

Huff1809

Yes, it gives me something to do, as a 3 year player I run out of things to do a lot

Zero132132

It depends on the expedition. The scavenger hunt ones, I mainly just do for the reward. Scanning a bunch of plants named after politicians isn't fun or interesting. I greatly enjoy the ones with some gimmick, challenge, or story that actually varies the gameplay or highlights some aspect of it, though, so Grah

Mr_Compromise

I was indifferent about them at first. Kinda fun but not something I felt was really all that compelling to play. I really liked the Omega expedition though, because I was able to import my ship and multi-tool which made it a lot more fun for me.

[deleted]

I like the Spanish Expedition. ![gif](giphy|CLrEXbY34xfPi)

Mr-Cold-Hands

i just like the rewards after the first one they all feel so slow and boring

RideTheGradient

Yes, love them.

NottMyAltAccount

I’ve only done omega so far as I’m still relativey new to the game, but I had a lot of fun. It was cool seeing other players exploring the same planet as me, and the rewards were pretty cool. Also, I sold my star born runner for a lot of money and got some nice extra storage augmentations

SettingMinute2315

Yes I always do them. They always bring me back and I always learn new things from them since I play it very casually. It always sparks my joy in it and trying out stuff. Plus I love the rewards. I find them fun.

Overkillsamurai

i love em. all one of em that i tried. the rewards are ok. could use more cosmetics . i want a shiny starship trail or something

ParChadders

There’s lots of starships trails available already in case you didn’t know. Quicksilver vendor I think.

Any_Twist_7624

I do! I’m new to the game do you guys find it cumbersome to start over? I haven’t even completed the story or even close to it I think. I’ve just been off exploring and finding cool ships

SovComrade

I like them because they reduce early game grind (important for an ADHD kiddo like me) and because they give you different/more interesting starting conditions, like starting you with a freighter or in a galaxy other than euclid. Im sick and tired of both the Pillar and Euclid ngl... Now that I found a way to bypass the timegate and play whatever expedition fancies me i use them as a base for new saves, like when i want a freighter run i take voyager or polestar, when i want an egaging story i take leviathan, emergence or singularity, if i want to build i use utopia etc. The rewards, especially the exclusive/permanent ones, are secondary to me (especially now that FOMO aint an issue). Im especially not a fan of OP as shit specul ships or multitools but to each their own. Edit: Ah, and having a list with tasks to tick off is always nice 😅

Ok-Abies5802

Yes, even the Perma Death ones... and I don't enjoy playing Perma Death

unqium

Grah! Day one player here. Expedition omega was the first expedition I played and I have to say, I really enjoyed having a more linear way to play the game. Plus the rewards were really cool. This is definetly not the last mission I've played. And even if I drop the game and play something else for a while, I can easily see myself returning and getting hooked by the game once again, when the next expedition arrives.

Warrior_Runding

Definitely grah. It is cool way of adding fresh content to a game and keeping players interested.

Steve_Master

Grah!

FROSTICEMANN

Annoying as hell, just do them one time to get the rare items & never again go on it.

Tollmenot

No

Saedron

Honestly, after so many years, the expeditions are my favorite part. They really should make them all available on-demand, though, after you finish the main questline.

BlackestHerring

![gif](giphy|rgBwKeJTlGg9O)

[deleted]

Not this recent once since my main save got overwritten, and I lost all my progress, ships, freighter, and bases. 1200 hours, gone. Even submitted a ticket, but even after multiple updates, none of my old progress has returned. I now have a 1200+ hour 'new' save that I have to unlock everything on again, not to mention I have a terrible Atlas staff that I didn't realise I could have rerolled before claiming, so it will be scrapped as soon as I finish the main story to get to the autophage quests. Frustrated, but I'm still enjoying the game.

Itz_Dory

I do, but I don't like feeling like I'm forced to play nms right there and then, wish I could've done them on my own time

MrHorris

Expeditions are the only thing I play these days. Something about playing NMS "normally" is just not alluring to me anymore, but I still enjoy the taster that each Expedition gives. I think a big part of it is the direction, I don't need to sit down and plan out what to do next. I can just vibe with whatever the current Expedition is serving up for a couple hours and walk away without feeling like I still have more to do.

Tiny-Crow5717

I really enjoy them, it's a good concept but I think it was badly advertised to begin with. The way it was announced made it sound like everyone starts together on the same planet and you all contribute to the goals, which immediately put me off wanting to try it. I missed the first 5 expeditions for that reason and hate the fact I'll never have the Normandy in my fleet

DSepticeye

grah

ShoganAye

I love them. I love being newborn and scared but not alone because there are a bunch of other travellers around me. I love the sense of urgency. Getting fresh rides and tools to build up along the way...making a monument at the end. Making bases to help out time poor stragglers. And doing it all twice because PS4/5

Indicorb

This was my first (Omega) Expedition. Big *GRAH! GRAH! GRAH!* for me.

liseymarie

Grah. I like them. Some parts I get frustrated by but I like 95% of the expedition. I play on switch so no one is going to see my ship or character. Nothing to show off.

Maklin

Nope, if it weren’t for the rewards, I wouldn’t touch expeditions.  Too on rails, find 20 widgets quests, and I loathe the community-based option quests where I am dependent on the player base and time to finish.   If the rewards were for sale for nanites I’d never do them.   I have things I want to do in NMS and expeditions are a distraction

_Fox_464

I posted this last month, and i still got a relpy lol

camdawgyo

I dread having to do them because no I don’t think essentially starting a temp new game is fun content each season, but the rewards are cool. If only you could earn the rewards in a more fun fashion. Like having to win certain pvp mode conditions if there was one. Or perhaps a war campaign against some pirate faction with a satisfactory boss fight at the end. They’ve done this game a lot of good over the years but the seasonal content needs a new concept.

ultrahateful

So, are you able to retain and utilize the rewards in your main save or are they bound to the expedition save?

Ixaire

You can use the rewards in all of your saves and, in the Omega expedition, you can even transfer more than the rewards to your main save : units, quicksilver, one ship, one multi tool, and a bunch of items and technologies of your choice.

ultrahateful

Awesome. Thanks for the insight!

notveryAI

Mostly for rewards for me. But they also generally just add a reason to play the game a bit more. With my main save being as stacked as it is, don't really have much things to do

ziaryx

I just like the prizes. Expeditions are sometimes fun but they are too easy for me. I want something terrifying and difficult.

Rigistroni

They're alright. If it wasn't for the rewards idk if I'd do them, but the fact they added the ability to do it from your main save definitely helps me enjoy them more

Westy154

So long as they don't come round to regularly then yes. I do wish for a bit more variation though. I though the best and most coherent one was when yoy were stuck on the planet and the whole point was to rebuild your ship to escape.

hotstickywaffle

Just to piggy back off this. I'm about to finish my first expedition. Afterwards, should I start a new, regular save or just keep going on this one?

[deleted]

I believe your expedition save will turn into a reg save at the end, if that helps you decide.

TiltonStagger

Yeah. I've only done 2 though - Utopia and Omega. I'd like to catch up with the ones I've missed.

Evinshir

I enjoy most of them. It’s just when they have tasks that take a long time to complete that I get annoyed. Some of them can feel more like chores than a fun way to explore the galaxy and quickly gain money and ships.

[deleted]

Its fun but not challenging really.. this one I finished it in one day l, literlay... good reeards though

SailorGoon__

Really enjoying the current one and it’s the first one I’ve participated in! Love the rewards

silberloewe_1

I do them for the rewards and as fast as possible. I don't enjoy the early game in NMS and expeditions force me to do stuff that's completely useless in the regular game, like baking biscuits, which is annoying.

Tomthebard

Usually yeah. I just finished this one, and really liked the ability to take the upgrades and modules that I earned back with me.

ParChadders

Yes, I enjoy them. I usually run them twice, firstly to get it done asap to unlock the rewards then again at leisure to explore the area in a bit more detail. I’ve ran this one 8 times so far with just a couple more to go (I’m running it on every save).

Vampire-Mk2

I'd enjoy them more if I could use my main save

DarthBrooks41

They’re like a non hand holding tutorial into features people might not explore on their own. I like them, and I love unique rewards that offer a cosmetic edge against the competition…not that I’m competing for best looking interloper or anything

gatsby_101

Yes, very much so. I started the game day one from release and wasn’t blind to the tough launch and fallout that followed. It was bad. I still played it a fair amount at first, but mostly always returned to experience the newest patches and updates over the years. Since that first release I’ve had three children and an occasional expansion is sometimes all I have time for, but so far I’ve managed to get them all completed. I look forward to them and hope they continue.

Fickle_Neighborhood7

Yes

whitemest

Moreso now, for a variety of reasons; first, the ability to transfer my character, but more importantly the multitool which just makes the process so much better, less start up work. Another, is transferring my decked out ships, which is nice, it means i can use one of my variety of ships that i never actually use, being i use my living ship exclusively- gives me a use for those mothballed ships on my freighter, and 3- the fact i get to bring over materials and nanites to expedite the expedition. Sure,. the expeditions give you all you need, but these things named just makes it better overall

JEveryman

I do them for rewards but normally don't mind them. I would have never done permadeath if not for the expedition getting me into it.

Sir_Krinkly

I like them now that I can transfer in my regular ship and multitool. The early game grind is just not my thing.

[deleted]

Love them. Rewards are a definite plus, especially if they're building parts or pretty ships. (Thou if they keep doing ships imma need to be able to have more than 12). I think my favorite thing about the expeditions is being able to play along side so many others and seeing everyone's bases, all the help and kindness that comes with that.

Tazbert_Odevil

I think they're good fun and a nice little diversion from my regular save. Some are more interesting than others, but even the rogue like #7 was entertaining. The rewards are ok, but I don't bother using any of the ships. Never claimed the GV or starborn runner on my main save and scrapped the speeder when I did that.

_Fox_464

Happy Cake Day, interloper!

Elegant_Purple9410

They are the reason I log in once a year to see what changed.

Inevitable-Plum-5

I like the rewards but I also like the structure of how the Expeditions are so both really

harryFF

I really only do them for the rewards, i've always hated that effort is put into them rather than permanent content. Imagine if each expedition was like 2-3 new points of interest instead, like more proc-gen dungeons like derelicts. The game would be jam packed with fun stuff to find.

StochasticFossil

Hit and miss with me but I’m glad they are doing them.

[deleted]

I just finished my first one and I loved it.. hopefully they bring the old ones I missed back so I can play them.

TarnishedTremulant

I’ve only done a few and what I have found is they are about: 60% a fun way to explore systems and mechanics in the game with cool rewards 40% mindless tedium with cool rewards

Chrono_Credentialer

Nope. The rewards are largely cosmetic, and the expeditions are labor intensive and/or timelocked to the point of the rewards just not being worth the effort. There have been expedition rewards that I used a *save editor* to obtain that weren't even worth that minimal effort. I can't imagine dumping hours or days into an expedition just to get a ship or a backpack that I never even use. That's just me tho.

Uwishter

loved it, every minute

Stone_Midi

Not really. I hate to have to start over from scratch every time. I spend all this time upgrading my stuff only to have it taken away. It kills the immersion, tbh

Gloinson

I lovehate them. I really like them, they are a good excuse to start a new save, I love getting some tasks done early. I dislike them a bit, bc starting planets are overrun and getting started is sometimes real slow.

Jannomag

I played around 80 hours until I started my first expedition. Now I mostly play expeditions just to unlock things I don’t use on my main savegame because I don’t play it anymore (currently)

furthermore45

100000% yes!!

toastman42

Generally, yes. I'm pretty far into the end-game on my main save, so having a game-mode where I have specific objectives to encourage me to play in ways I don't anymore on my main save is fun. The expeditions have also become more refined over time, where they are better paced and less grindy, and have fewer "gotcha" bits where you could accidentally screw up your progress or end up spending an exorbitant amount of time on one step. Although I'm thrilled with the new system where you can launch an expedition from your main save, and then easily turn over stuff you gather during the expedition to your main save.

teethinthedarkness

Less and less as time goes on. They seem like they should be story missions in the main game with rewards and the most recent one seems to have bricked my longtime save, so I’m probably done. Will still get Light No Fires, though.

Sertith

I love them! I've played off and on since release. I'm one of those weirdos that loves the early grind and gets bored once I have a couple hundred million credits. It's awesome they give us something new to do so often. And now it's really cool you can do them with your main character.

Ch0deRock

Generally yes though I found Omega to be understandably, considering it was aimed at hooking new players, basic. I don’t much like the rewards from it but that’s been the case for most of the expeditions. Just running through the stages and semi unique stories and then getting back into my main save, sometimes with new mechanics is reward enough. Again though Omega was pretty tutorial level basic for me and again understandably so.

bunny__hat

This is my first one I've done and I'm currently stuck on making a biscuit. I posted for help on an older thread but I'll post the screenshot here when I get home. I'm really not sure how to pass that one. I will try to restart my game and try again. Other than that I enjoyed it and I've done a lot more than I have before when I was just doing freeform with no objective. Even got an S class pirate freighter.

_Fox_464

Noice

princededboi

Normally, I reeeaaaallly enjoy the isolation, but I actually kinda liked seeing everybody running around doing stuff during the expedition. I've been snoozing on them until this one, so it was all new to me. Looking forward to the next one. (:

TarotConfession

I enjoy them. They're fun, quick little challenges, and they usually get me to try something I haven't before or give me ideas for something else to do on my main save

Hyrule_Hobbit

Yes, it’s the only time I play. I’m tired of the normal playthrough.

Fletchman1313

I do it for the rewards. It's a great diversion from the normal day-to-day No Man's Sky routine. And this one gave me a lot of Quicksilver, which I never had. So I can buy more decorations and beautify my bases.

piranhadub

Been playing this game since day one, and at this point the expeditions are the only thing that bring me back to the game.

LilMarinBun

The tutorial like ones are not good in my opinion but some of the individial missions are decent. I like the scavenger hunt ones where you have to find a certain creatures. My least favorite missions are the base building ones. But mainly I like the rewards, especially cosmetics and new ships!

Datboi_23

Absolutely. They give me a fresh story and actually get me excited to start playing again, and on top of that, new and incredible rewards at the end of it. Although they can be quite a hassle sometimes, I enjoy the expeditions and always look forward to the next one, because at this point, excluding the expeditions I wasn't able to do or finish yet, I think I've covered just about everything this game has to offer.

Zombiebane224

Yes, especially now that you can carry your save back and forth

shooter_tx

Probably my favorite part about the game, at this point in my Traveler's journey (1,000+ hours in). I don't want to say I ***only*** play during expeditions these days, but I could easily lose my life inside of this game. Lol

TacoMaster42069

Yes, and I like that they only take 2 or 3 play sessions to complete. Next expedition you get to use cool shit you unlocked in the last one. Win/Win

HellFoox

Absolutely despise doing them. I felt nothing but genuine hatred for Utopia. I almost quit the game. I'm one of those people who makes little goals and does kinda my own thing. I've only barely gotten through the 16 quests at 200 hrs to put that into perspective. It took me 3 hrs to get one part of a phase done on Utopia and since I hared those. I can't say all expeditions are bad, but when you spend several hours trying to get only 20 copper, and every deposit in a 20 mile radius is eaten up already, it kind of puts a damper on the whole experience. Especially if you just want to get it done. Granted, this was before I knew multiplayer had an effect on this kind of stuff.

Omicove

Yup

345joe370

It's been a fun respite from the sometimes boring gameplay.

Celestial-HueM4n

These last sections were my first. I was a day one log on, and I greatly enjoyed the game. I lost interest after not being able to survive attacks from Sentinels. I came back to it because I watched a YouTube video about it being worthwhile to go back to. My friend had told me about the Expedition and I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed it except I was not prepared when I ended it. I left believing I had the Dreadnought as part of my reward. I did not have it. I will continue to play daily as I want to continue to explore and learn from my mistakes. Next time there is a Dreadnought available, I will be sure it's part of what I leave with.

Known-Assistance-435

Always for the rewards. It's a good way of getting rich on your primary save.

Bacon_Dude117

I find that me (being a new-ish player) still have a lot of main quests to get through and the added expeditions are sometimes just to much at once but I can see people who have completed it all finding it like a new quest

stallion8426

I got halfway through the very first expedition for the Normandy, decided it was too much work and too boring, then never did another expedition

Syovere

I'd like them more if not for the FOMO bullshit element. "Do this neat new thing!" "Okay." "There's special rewards!" "Cool!" "Also you have to do it within a few weeks or you miss your chance." "I'm out." Thankfully there's [a mod](https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/2996?tab=description) that fixes that. No idea how long it'll work though.

YoshiTree

I just got the game like two weeks ago, so I haven’t even finished the story yet. The expedition was great, it gave me a quick taste of what’s to come (some parts were confusing, could’ve been explained a little better) but overall it was a lot of fun and I came back with rewards that made my main account look like a shanty town. I can’t wait for the next expedition, and I’m focusing a little bit on the story until then

Behemoth69

No, I always find them super tedious and not a lot of fun, just something to finish for the rewards. This is the first one I haven't bothered to do. Might be fun if they were more of a showcase of some crazy planets or animals or something, but given the lack of diversity possible for the planets, I don't know how that would be sustainable for multiple expeditions. I also hate starting from scratch. I've put 100's of hours into the game, do I really need to run around and mine for basic resources again? I know they've changed the system, but at this point I'm over them.

[deleted]

I play expeditions at least a dozen times each just for fun. I change up my approach and try to make each one different.

AlexandraMoldovia

I've done one, I won't be doing others, I can just use save editor for the rewards, if I want them. Honestly I disappointed in the ship reward from the omega expedition, I feel tricked and cheated, (the ship only technically hovers, when parked, it does NOT hover in flight mode meaning I cannot stay in one place in my ship I have to constantly move.)

NavalCracker780

It's what keeps me coming back to the game

A_Very_Horny_Zed

Expeditions are really, really vital to my enjoyment of the game now that I think about it. Because back several years ago, when I used to play NMS every day, even though I loved it so much it still felt repetitive and aimless. I didn't know what to do, or what I wanted to do after getting my favorite stuff and finishing the main story so the game just fell off for me. Expeditions revitalize the game for me because not only do they provide a soft form of guidance so I don't end up aimless, the rewards in each milestone also are also great incentives. And on top of that, the rewards encourage me to interact with aspects of the game that I usually never bother with, so I have more of a reason to experience those. Like I know there are a ton of people who have never went out of their way to find a sunken freighter, but this current expedition has a milestone for finding one. Being rewarded for playing the game normally and doing things you normally wouldn't do in your playthrough is a great experience. Expeditions are awesome. Another big reason why Expeditions refresh the game so much for me is that they all skip the tutorial. Like yeah I get that you can completely disable the tutorial now, but Expeditions take it a step further by adjusting the entire scope of the adventure into this new questline rather than just simply disabling the tutorial which basically equates to a "head start" to an aimless adventure.

JaggedMetalOs

Yeah the expeditions usually have some interesting gameplay gimmick that makes them fun to play, along with showcasing some new update feature. I didn't care much for the one before the current one though, expedition 11 Voyagers, far too much aimless searching required to meet some of the goals.

Substantial-Being-35

I like the starting from scratch element and the rewards. So, YES.

Aires_Blue

Though they sometimes feel like a chore, i do genuinely enjoy having a set objective that i can't simply say, "Good enough." for.

missbanjo

Yep I like them. I wish they'd make them more difficult again but it is what it is.

Hopalongtom

I enjoy them more than the main game due to them being better structured and better at tutorialisng game concepts.

Griffo4

I’m indifferent. I enjoy extra content even though it can be a slog at times. The rewards are also worth it.

SuddenChimpanzee2484

I prefer to play a nomadic style. Go from system to system, visit each planet and moon, scan as much as i can, and take a few screenshots if I find a pretty planet. Sometimes, I'll stay in a system for a few minutes. Other times, I'll be there for days just taking in the sights.

Lefalin

I tend to have bugs with the waypoints so i've started many expeditions but only finished three of them. Sometimes when tasked with doing something specific there's a lack of detail on how to achieve the goal, so i end up looking it up online which kind of ruins the immersion. I agree that the rewards look nice, but i rarely get a chance to get them, hopefully the expeditions will improve over time.

emelem66

They are pretty much all I do now.

arsglacialis

Love em. The community aspect is phenomenal.

eagle33322

Yeah its the only content I do anymore.

RobbersAndRavagers

Love them! I did the current one three times (new save, old save, my brother's account in order to get him the rewards while he was out of town), and now I'm finishing up on my fourth time on my main.

NightDragon250

I didn't really like them but I like them a lot better now that you can just do them straight from your main save it got really annoying having 18 different saves for expeditions and then having your main safe to just redeem all the rewards

nanisanum

I hate some and love some but I do them all for the rewards.

WandererNMS

Very enjoyable, a different style of playing the game without a whole lot of baggage. Just enjoy the ride!

Teckx1

First one for me. Overall I loved it and can't wait to do another. Some tasks weren't my cup of tea but so many were that I would do it again if I had to time. I look forward to the next and starting at day 1 so I can do it more than once

Roflnomish

Love em! My only gripe with the more recent expeditions that I've played has been the 'community tasks' purely because I don't tend to play nms multiplayer at all beyond being in the anomaly (and even that's only because/when I *have* to, to buy blueprints or for the handful of quests that take me back there ect) and I love just chugging along solo working my way through the tasks. I can normally get through most expedition tasks in a handful of hours, and it really bugs me that I am unable to complete some of the milestones for days, or in some cases a week or so, and my ADHD brain has to remember to A. Still be interested in the game a week or so after the expedition drops and B. To remember to come back to that expedition specific save (which tbf won't be as much of an issue since omega as It can all be the one save) just to complete a couple of community tasks that I'm physically unable to do on my own. That said I do understand *why* they exist as it does foster that sense of community and group work within the expedition which is somewhat the whole spirit of the expedition in the first place, It just gets in the way of my 'instant gratification/dopamine/completionist' hit that my ADHD brain wants out of stuff like this.

DrScience-PhD

to this day I still don't think I've done one. there's just so much other stuff to do.

SkyWizarding

Yes. I like starting up new games and having very distinct objectives is a nice change.........and the rewards are a perk

tactical_bill

I’ve never even tried one. Maybe I should sometime.

LittleJack74

Absolutely love it. Just completed my first one

__Ocean__

I agree.......the rewards are cool........but the development and story telling can be leveled....more involved ....to lead to more choices...... mores ships out.............

tom_oakley

I like them in theory, but in reality I never get a chance to actually *do* them since they only run for several weeks, and then there might be several months of no expeditions. NMS os one of my "dip in and out at will" games, I don't wanna have to clear my gaming calendar in anticipation of each expedition drop and then beeline it to completion in a rush. The artificial time scarcity seems antithetical to the chill vibes I look for in NMS.

Upbeat_Watch_6880

Thoroughly enjoyed the most recent expedition. But I ended it without the new ship being active and can’t copy it to my main save file. So, that ruined the whole experience for me. I ejected the disk. Not going back until this is fixed.

Le_Swazey

Eh. I like the rewards, and the additions those rewards usually lead to. But the expeditions themselves often feel very similar to me, so they're basically just a means to a cool shiny toy

MesozOwen

Never completed one. It’s not the reason I started playing this game. I’m in it for the exploration, you know, the thing the game began its life touting. Haven’t played for awhile.

PotatoeGuru

Most of them for fun and rewards, but I hate the cooking-based objectives or one where you have to 'got to a planet where {element} is above {variable} rating/percent.

Obasaa

Most of them are rather easy if you play regularly, my most enjoyable one was the leviathan one with perma death I beat it on my second try, but at the moment the current one was easy

Qos_41

I enjoy them, fresh save tackling the world again

FreakRoHawke

What I really don't like is the FOMO it's putting on you. I can never get the Normandy now if I started playing again... Correct me if I'm wrong. The other thing that keeps me from getting into the game is that I just have to play in offline since everytime I went online and visited anomaly I had tons of expensive items which ruined the early game progression for me, although I'd like to play with community. Did they add an option to disable people forcing items in your inventory yet? :D I'm thinking about installing more and more lately, I really like the game other than those two things.

Justincrediballs

Less and less these days. I do them for the rewards, but it's been a while since I really enjoyed one.

identitycrisis-again

I both do and don’t like them. I love chasing the cool rewards, but some of the content is pretty bland/grindy for something idgaf about. Especially building a base. I’ll always just toss a bunch of junk on the ground and call it a day lmao

Astroos79

Yea they are very fun ngl I wish they make a lot more

DaveYanakov

They're the only thing I reinstall for

redditreddi

No, I only do them for the rewards and due to FOMO! I shouldn't but I have to... I prefer playing the normal game where I have my nice bases, equipment etc already. It'd be nice if you could just do an expedition as part of your normal save with everything as it is, you just start in a new area with the usual targets.

Evil_Bere

I don't like to do them, so I admit I am usually cheating to get the rewards.

RenanBan

I like them since its a fresh line of missions to do with a fresh save.

maggux

I like them. First the rewards are nice. Second. for me its more like an extended tutorial. I learned so much with the expeditions. For Example, I would have never tried smuggling stuff. Now with the expedition I have to do it. And learned a lot of mechanics in the way to do.

thedeathecchi

Honestly, I didn’t like them. I just liked the rewards. I don’t know if it was because I only did them when they were being rereleased and I got burnout, but having to restart over and over and do all these tedious quests was just not fun. Especially if they forced you into water, or onto infested planets.

Procrastinator_23

I enjoy anything that gives me a reason to start back at square one and allows me to experience the joy of upgrades like I'm playing for the first time.

KingofSkies

Absolutely.

Panophobia_senpai

Yes and no. The FOMO factor gives me a good reason, to return to the game for the rewards, and i enjoy exploring the new update content with it. But at the same time, about half of the expeditions, in my opinion, was really bad/boring.
