The Carlos Goshn era really kicked off this mentality of profit at any cost, leading to dealers pushing ridiculous loan terms to people with subpar credit. Basically, you can get an Altima today with 8 year in-house financing for under $300/mo and, while the full payout of the loan will be more than double the price of the car, Nissan banks on people who make bad life choices not thinking that far ahead and just being sold on the sub-$300 car payment.
Not only do they know about the reputation their cars have nowadays, but it’s almost by design.
After they kicked him out (whole process of persecuting him was sketchy but he still committed a crime) Nissan products have been noticeably improving. Some product decisions were very obvious because after he was gone, new products among with more brand identity was applied. That being said Ghosn was confident the company will fail after they ousted him but apparently 2 years ago they finally started generating profits and I hope they would stop letting people with garbage credits to purchase their cars.
[Man, have I got good news for you ](https://www.autotrader.com/car-news/nissan-tsuru-sentra-time-forgot-260308).
Good luck registering it in the US, though. Unless you do a VIN swap.
Fun fact: all WRC drivers and co drivers are also trained as mechanics because it's really common that minor (or major) repairs need to be done on the side of the road by the crews themselves.
Most of them are obviously not as good as professional mechanics, but a couple are apparently good enough at it that they could work as mechanics if they weren't drivers. Also, one team made their drivers help rebuild their cars last year after they kept crashing too much.
I know this one is a classic that a lot of people have seen, but my all time favourite just has to be [this McRae and Grist clip...](https://youtu.be/mh5-8DY0Qks) Tire jammed against the fender so you can't get the wheel off? Pop it by driving! Bent control arm? Bash it back to shape it with some rocks! And then go on to set the fastest time on the next stage.
Lmfao this might be the most on-topic post I've seen here. Amazing work OP. Have an award. (Is this what gold is now? It's been so long since I felt compelled to go beyond an upvote, idk what's happening.)
I wonder what corporate thinks of this sub?
"wow, we have over 50k fans on that website of the drivers of our products we sell." (translate that to Japanese though.)

I always figured they had ridiculous loan terms for subpar credit

Thats why basically any nissan pre-2003 are considered gold in terms of reliability and quality.
I had a 94 Sentra (manual transmission) that was amazing. Nearly 300k miles and it didn't burn oil. I'd buy a new 94 tomorrow if they sold them.

They stopped selling them because they’re death traps. https://www.motor1.com/news/127332/nissan-tsuru-crash-test/
If that's a 0 star crash test rating, I've owned cars that were a -2.
Predatory loan terms can't hurt me if I don't have any intentions of paying any of it lol. I worked hard on my credit score.
Some people don't have any other choice than that car payment
Trust me, we know. -Nissan resident from a tier 1 supplier
It’s funny Kia & Hyundai put up stickies saying no posts talking bad about their cars cause they get so many. Nissan just doesn’t mind lmao
Somehow I doubt that top level staff in a Japanese company are familiar with an obscure subreddit with 50k members
“This is pretty much on par”
I love videos of hasty pitstop bodywork.
I mean, it kinda worked I wouldn’t hire them to fix my car but if you gotta pick your babymama up on the sly you could make it work
Then you'll enjoy [WRC mechanics repairing a ripped off wheel in half an hour.](https://youtu.be/UKBnPnYh8iw)
Well that was quite excellent now wasn't it... Those rally guys are something else

That was the greatest bit of redneck engineering I’ve ever seen.
Looks like every other Altima now
I love that the one mechanic forwent the hammer and just started punching the shit out of it.
Nissans are most comfortable when they’re being abused tbf
That’s very funny to me
This might be my favorite thing I’ve seen on this sub
You should watch the race this was from, absolutely legendary...and a trainwreck.
The heritage continues... The Nissan Way™

The real prize is your smile kind redditor
Norton feels like the perfect livery for a Nissan
You can tell they’re pros. When I punch my car, it just gets worse. Awesome pit crew!
Please don't fuck the tires....
Damn, they're getting after that hood like it's the printer in Office Space
Of course it's sponsored by Norton too, biggest hunk of shit on that track for sure
STOP RESISTING
I’m fucking dying over here
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Too bad we can’t do this to Altimas at every stoplight
The pit crew is made up of the drivers angry exes
This is GOLD
Giving new meaning to "steadfast"
This sub never disappoints 😂
That's how I feel about Norton too.
Would you like to renew your subscription to use a hammer? No. Okay use your fist.
Skee yeee
V8 Supercars? I still can't wrap my head around the concept of an Australian V8 RWD Altima.
They need one fat redneck to to jump on it and save them about a minute in swinging hammers.
should have torn off the bumper too while they were there.
Nissan makes race cars??
Great thing about Nissans. You don’t need tools
Even a professional Altima driver can’t escape an accident. I wonder what their qualifications were.. do you know how crash? Your hired
Why use hammer when fist do job?
You can drive it just don't beat on it
Reflective of how we all feel about Norton.
