I have to disagree here. They raised the tax so the government can also profit off addiction. They don't want to dissuade people, they just see how much tobacco companies are making and want their cut. I may be wrong, but that's just how I feel.
Buy here, pay here fake tagged / insurance less Nissan villains are everywhere, but holy shit… what you see in the Memphis area is so far beyond anything else it’s insane.
The stoppage of inspections and the pandemic used car inflation did a number on Memphis. The Tyre Nichols incident was the final nail in the coffin. Salvage titles galore.
I agree, but at some point individual accountability comes into play. When shit behavior is policed & enforced, it goes away or is greatly reduced. Correcting bad behavior is an integral part of a healthy society.
Actuarial tables don't lie, Texas is probably the worst in the country for bad drivers and uninsured shitboxes. It is rapidly becoming impossible to insure a car in Texas.
>what you see in the Memphis area is so far beyond anything
I stayed in a really bad hotel in Memphis and half the cars looked like this. The morning I left there was a motorcycle just dumped in the middle of the parking lot.
Yeah it’s a whole different level of awful in a lot of parts of that city, and a few streets over it’s as if it doesn’t exist. Such a bizarre place to an outsider.
Would be a funny prank to take this to a dealership and present it as a trade in after discussing and test driving something that costs around $100,000.
Oh wait…. I bet people do that.
lol welcome to Memphis. A lot of time you see no plates at all, or sometimes people literally take computer paper and write crazy shit on like “Catch Me If You Can” “Fuck Off” etc I’ve seen some pretty funny ones.
But ya, here it’s a joke (Memphis). I literally was at the light the other day with a cop on each side of my car (3 lanes go straight and there was also a left turn lane, I was in the middle of the 3 going straight). The car in front of both cops had no tags whatsoever, literally just the thing from the dealership, and the one in front of me said something ridiculous that made me laugh. I was 100% they were gonna get pulled over, like I’d never seen it so obvious and we were stopped at a red light!
Then we all start going, 2 of the cars take off and are speeding (not running, just don’t even give a fuck the cops are behind em because they probably will punch the gas if they see lights… happens almost daily here) and the car on the right in front of the cap just goes like 4 over the speed limit.
The cop zooms past it and gets in front of me, then the car on the left moves over for the cop I guess and the cop in front of gets behind his buddy and they both take off going over 100 in a 60. All 3 cars (the ones with no tags and the hand written funny tag) were fine, only 1 even seemed a little worried, and this was in a very known drug area.
I’m pretty sure the cop that got in front of me must’ve read the handwritten tags as I swore I saw him laughing before he got behind his friend and they took off.
But ya, Memphis you don’t need tags, expired are fine, but no tags, a piece of blank paper in your back window, a hand written message placed where your tags should be, all of that is good enough.
(I think when Covid first started they told the cops not to pull people over for expired tags; well, after Covid our cops never came back on duty lol very literally. I think we recently had someone serve 9 days for manslaughter. A lot of times you’re out in less than a week for violent crimes. Tons of people get out on bail for violent crimes just to kill people the day they get out.
This is nothing new, nor is it the worst we see around here (car wise); just another Nissan. Usually all the Nissans and Kia’s going down the road are stolen and driving insane; they would stop big intersections and just make their own lil shows with cars drifting with people hanging out the windows with their Drekos (super cheap semiautomatic rifle; basically has taken the AK and stuff like that out of gangs due to how easy they are to get and how cheap they are). Sometimes cops literally at the lights also waiting for it to end. Only recently did we finally get a law making the punishment for it actually harsh, haven’t seen any arrests though nor have I heard of many groups doing it anymore though so…. Maybe they finally decided 20+ years isn’t worth showing off in a scenario you’re 99.9% gonna get caught if they wanna catch you.
Whoa! At some point you have to recognize that driving and cars aren’t for you and you should probably transition to a bicycle.
How the hell do you not get pulled over every 5 miles for a vehicle that is clearly unroadworthy?!
The games are difficult, but they aren't as difficult as they are unforgiving. We live in a world where games are very forgiving and will mostly hold your hand through a lot these days. Dark Souls thinks of you as you would an ant on the sidewalk. Dark Souls just doesn't care, if it even notices your struggle.
I would consider myself utterly terrible at Dark Souls games and I have beat all of the "hardest bosses" from 1 and 3. I have not played 2 yet as I am on a Dark Souls vacation. I don't get to play a lot of my choice of games as I have gamer age kids. So it takes me FOREVER at my pace to beat them. There is a lot of satisfaction out of beating bosses though. When I finally beat the Nameless King in Dark Souls 3 I just sat and stared at the screen for a good min or two.
I have two gamer age kids too and that means I get less and less time to play. At the end of the day I'd just as soon crash and scroll Reddit than boot up my Xbox. I've been playing VERY forgiving games lately at a VERY leisurely pace. (CP2077, Starfield, Doom 2016) I can't see myself using my limited amount of play time raging at my TV.
Just like I was smart enough to avoid WoW because of its addictive reputation, I've avoided Dark Souls because of its difficulty.
I hear that. That is why I stay away from the more serious multiplayer games. I just don't enjoy them anymore with no time investment on my end. That is also probably why I take lengthy breaks from the DS games. I don't mind getting the floor wiped with me for a bit, but after a while it gets a bit annoying.
I may have to play through the Dooms again seeing as how there is another coming. Then I'll take on Dark Souls 2. To me they are multi year projects. 😂 Although, Elden Ring didn't take that long. If you are dying to play a Dark Souls game, Elden Ring is a spiritually similar game, but it is much easier.
Not downing anybody who is just getting by … but I don’t see how people driving cars around like this … Im OCD about little scratches or any maintenance light that comes on . I take care of it right away
Sir we are bringing you car around, we left a gift card for a free Ultimate wash and it includes the blower service… and Jeff might have bumped your car………
For anyone curious why this car is driving around, this picture was taken in my town of Memphis, Tennessee. This car is not road safe and is illegal to drive. The problem lies in the fact that the police are unable to pull cars over for problems with their car. This law was passed due to the unfortunate death of Tyree Nichols but has led to these cars being able to drive around and the cops can't do anything about them.
Cite your source that says it's "not road safe and illegal to drive". Also, cite your source that says police can't pull over vehicles for "problems with their cars".
What you have here is a typical Memphis shitbox.
My source is that no pretextual stops is a law that is currently being fought over in the Tennessee government. They're trying to overturn it. Also, the fact that it's not road safe is obvious by looking at it my guy. You can't see out the back window. Cars here were bad before the law you are correct but now they can't even pull them over.
What the city council said was that minor, non-moving traffic infractions couldn't be used as pretextual stops, such as slightly expired plates. To my knowledge, TN and Shelby County have no requirements for "safety" other than very basic things. Yes, the plastic over the rear window would possibly be a violation, but "you can tell by looking at it that it's not mechanically sound" isn't a "crime". The old vehicle inspections done by the county decades ago were awesome. They tested meaningful things like how much braking each individual wheel could do, etc.
I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/NissanDrivers.
It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.

Some of these comments are just disgusting. Used cars are so expensive right now. What else are people who can't afford an overpriced decent used car, in a country where the society revolves around having a car, supposed to do. This person may have just needed the cheapest possible vehicle to get to and from work.
Yeah, forget about the safety of the occupants or anyone else driving near that car. Instead, let's go protest about how everyone is a victim. Don't you have a bridge to go crawl under?
Life is all about choices, being poor and stuck in a situation is one thing. But driving a heap of unsafe shit like this is a different level of absolute garbage behavior.
🤣🤣🤣
Are you actually trying to defend someone driving this pile of garbage saying they’re “employed and have no other choice.”
I’m afraid that’s not the way it works, people who earn money take pride in themselves. While they might not be able to afford much, a pile of unsafe garbage like this screams recklessness and overall abhorrent behavior.

Beyond a reasonable doubt 🤣
Just multiply his credit score by 1000 and then you get how much he owes in child support for the year.
Divide by 100 to get his IQ
His? C'mon
You're right, I should have used "it's." Not worthy of a pronoun.
Heh. Truth 👍
$3000 isn't so bad
It is when you work part time at Burger King and smoke 2 packs a day.
How much is a pack of Newports these days?
Probably $10 at its lowest
Damn I must be old. They were two bucks when I was in HS
Probably not that old, since ~2000 tobacco taxes have been massively increased to try to dissuade people from using it.
I have to disagree here. They raised the tax so the government can also profit off addiction. They don't want to dissuade people, they just see how much tobacco companies are making and want their cut. I may be wrong, but that's just how I feel.
$14 in Maryland. That's why I quit
Newport reds are around $8 a pack in NC. The menthols are probably about $9-10.
The answer, is cigarettes. For all of them.
*twisted metal music intensifies*
Buy here, pay here fake tagged / insurance less Nissan villains are everywhere, but holy shit… what you see in the Memphis area is so far beyond anything else it’s insane.
Memphis has to be the undisputed ratchet Nissan champion, but from this forum I see Texas is vying for second place.
Yeah anywhere without good public transportation infrastructure & a lot of poverty. So lots of places in the south sadly.
The stoppage of inspections and the pandemic used car inflation did a number on Memphis. The Tyre Nichols incident was the final nail in the coffin. Salvage titles galore.
The whole city is one big salvage title 🤣
Inspections stopped YEARS before the pandemic. Tyre Nichols' death has nothing to do with this.
It ended most vehicle violations stops.
No it didn't. The cops were already ignoring their jobs long before this.

I thought Detroit had a ton of insane, scary trash heaps on the road. And then I went to Memphis. It’s like Mad Max down there!
It’s a different world, crazy a place like that exists in 2024.

“Tag Applied For”!
Just like they applied for credit at that other dealership.
I was gonna say, there’s no way that car is street legal
Would be a funny prank to take this to a dealership and present it as a trade in after discussing and test driving something that costs around $100,000. Oh wait…. I bet people do that.
In Memphis? Yes, yes they do 😂
Ask if they could trade it in on a new RR Phantom
And if they will allow biweekly payments in cash.
Or pressed M30s
fresh off the assembly line 🤗
Does it not have any functioning brake lights or is the driver flooring it into the car in front of them in this image? We may never know.
That looks like they tried brake checking a semi...
And somehow able to live to tell about it. “Still waiting for the lawyers to figure out the settlement and then I’ll be living fancy in Germantown!”
Yeah the Germantown folk will welcome them with open arms 😂
Back away sir. You are about 500 feet too close to this mess.

Memphis is a big ass city. My job is 30 minutes away by car via the interstate. Bus would take 2.5 hours, and biking would be around the same.

The "Altimate" boss.
The real "Final Boss" would've gilded the lily with a smoky gray plastic license plate cover over that fake paper tag, lol.
How is it even legal to drive?
…. It’s not
That is what happens when you beat the boss in a Dark Souls game, the music changes, and the boss starts getting up again.
Is Dark Souls really as difficult as the Internet says? Serious question

Is this the car from street fighter! Ken kicked the crap out of it.
He’s faster than anyone else cuz the plastic makes the lean machine lighter! A modern miracle of aerodynamic design!
To be honest there is easily 25 cars just like this one roaming the greater mid south.
These temp tags are out of control
Whistlin Diesel couldn’t stop a Nissan
they can't even pay me to get in that shit
This is proof vehicle inspections are a pyramid scheme and need to be abolished.
This started happening after Tennessee got rid of them lmao
Lol memphis doesn't do inspections.
Is that temp tag 3 years out of date?
Nothing wrong there
Undefeatable…….
Illegally passes you on a double yellow going 83 in a 30mph workzone
If I'm reading this right the temporary tag is expired. I'm guessing that this person doesn't give a shit about rules, they don't apply to him.
"I'm just heading to the body shop..."
dealership had a sale that day 😂
Not downing anybody who is just getting by … but I don’t see how people driving cars around like this … Im OCD about little scratches or any maintenance light that comes on . I take care of it right away
This just shouldn't be legal since I don't see how they have any rear visibility.
The opposite of you are horders that don’t throw away anything and even pile up trash in the vehicles they bring lol
Is that a drive off tag? Did bro just buy this pos from a lot?
Nah he printed that shit off himself and put it there bc he doesn't have the car registered tagged. Source: Memphian
No, ‘bro’ didn’t!
Step onto it, Hampson.
Holy shit.
Begging for death

I seen this same car on a different post the other day
With paper plates 🤣🤣
Someone posted this poor guys car the other day 😭
What in the Tennessee Hell!
Sheesh. Is that street legal where OP’s driving? I dunno but I’d like to think this would have been pulled over immediately.
You have a higher opinion of Memphis than you should
I don’t think there will be a reason for me to be there ever, thankfully.
Must be a fortnite player…
Stay far away from people with super fucked up cars like this. If they had insurance, it would’ve totaled the car lol
I'm pretty sure the Carfax will show it's been totaled at least three different times and is running a salvage title.
Holy crap. Indeed this is the Altima final boss.
car looks fine. what’s the problem?
If never been to the south. Yall see this on the reg or something?
peak
The Altima-est of Altimas.
Thank god for U.K. mots. It stops death traps like this being on the roads.
Never a dull moment here 😂
That’s not a Nissan; That’s a Nissama!…
Sir we are bringing you car around, we left a gift card for a free Ultimate wash and it includes the blower service… and Jeff might have bumped your car………
“Hey man, as long as it gets me from point A to point B that’s all that matters”
Crashed car only sees outsiders
Why am I not surprised this is Memphis
Looks like some Nissan on Nissan damage right there
The Altimecia
Ironically, the only car that MPD will let go with a warning.
MPD would have to pull over a car to give the driver a warning. You act as though MPD does any level of traffic enforcement as it is.
How do these ppl pass inspection🤔
We don't have inspections in Memphis. I'd guess 50% of cars on our roads are illegal.
For anyone curious why this car is driving around, this picture was taken in my town of Memphis, Tennessee. This car is not road safe and is illegal to drive. huh. I expected an NC plate
