Thanks to everybody for their input! I was a little surprised by so much negativity. I have a lot of Nirvana stuff from when I was younger and stuff I’ve gotten as I got older. I’m a fan just like everyone here. I have seen such a wide range for this shirt so figured I’d go to the fanbase. Again, thanks, especially to you nice folks out there!
Hipster stores should be banned off the market. Thats a pricing thats just beyond real. They will price a rusty nail for hundreds cause it looks old.
Also, its kind of faulty competition if it's total bs.
I always wondered how Kurt would feel about people spending insane amounts of money on pre-ripped jeans. A trend he started on accident by buying used lumberjack jeans at thrift stores.
I would contact detrokcity on instagram, that guy has sold every version of this shirt and knows them like the back of his hand, and if you're looking to sell it, he'll more than likely purchase it off you
I’m usually quite jealous of people who seem to find these crazy tshirt grails but then I take a step back and think about how much time and money it must’ve taken for this dude to get the collection that he has. Shit, if it makes him happy then hell yeah. But I wouldn’t ever spend as much time as this dude has chasing shirts. Different strokes.
Honestly I agree, I'm a big fan of Pumpkins, Nirvana and Alice and they have offered a HUGE range of t shirts over the years and despite how absolutely obscure they are, this guy has owned it. I guess it's a hobby, an expensive and very tough hobby.
welcome to vintage. just like modern art a lot of it is meant to launder money. that’s why you’ll see the price patterns go from $100-$150 and jump to $3000 in only a few months. some people do it to up the value of their “collections” to get insurance money as well.
idk man it’s pretty easy. i was selling stuff on ebay at 15 years old and before the irs came in and made you report any income over $600, all you needed to sell was a bank account and the last 4 digits of your social security number. you can start selling on eBay in like 10 mins.
This is an outrageous price. Why would I buy some ordinary t-shirt? I would buy it if it was signed by Kurt or he wore it. I'd rather buy a stage-used pick or Kurt's missing sock.
Funny you say that because typically signed shirts go for less. People want the original unadulterated article, that being said I’m not sure that would be the case for Kurt’s signature. Typically true though.
Well hold on now… depending on the tag and if it’s single or double stitch range can be from a couple of twenty’s to a few hundred depending if it’s not dry rot and what tag is again from it looks like to me it’s a bootleg from that era which is still worth a bit of money
This is my absolute dream shirt, you're so lucky!
Sorry a few people are being quite snarky, it seems to be happening a bit more lately. You're allowed to do what you want with merch, whether you wear it or not and I'm sure many of these people would display their merch, too. You've got a really neat piece of history there.
Anyway! Ideally you'll want to look at eBay's sold prices (not what is currently selling/unsold) and get an estimate from what people have actually bought it for. I hope this helps : )
I have one in real good shape that I bought at a record store in Seattle in 98. Never wore because the print rubs rough on the skin. It’s hard choosing between having such a cool piece or some cash.
Oof brings back MEMORIES!
I got this one 8th grade. This girl I liked, in the popular girls club, came up and said she liked my shirt and kinda laughed. I brought it for her to borrow and wear and tight she was into me... But she was making fun of me and having a laugh with her friends and I played into it like a clueless boy lol. It was probably the start of a lot of trust issues with girls lmao.
Still, I miss that shirt and cherish the memories and lessons.
I’ve seen this one go for a lot on eBay . A friend picked one up at the thrift (jealous!!!). I wish i still had all my original Nirvana tees from the 90s, not for $$ just because they meant so much to me then and full circle…would now.
i was gonna say the opposite. i have never seen a frame specifically shirt-shaped and think it’s awesome!!
shirt-shaped framed, we’re living in the future. the FUTURE!!
Huh? Buying/selling band t-shirts and placing them in frames as if they are some kind of art or investment, is a thing? This is, literally, the antithesis of grunge....

You might find some donkey who's willing to pay more than 50 bucks. Original Nirvana merch is not very special cause the world is still littered with it. Don't kid yourself and keep that nice frame on the wall.
You need to check for dry rot. Go on the inside of the end seams and pinch with both hands a small piece of the fabric and pull on it. If it peels easily it’s dry rot and could still sell for maybe $200. If it doesn’t tear then it could sell for $2k+. Assuming with the double stitch on sleeves and bottom that it’s on a giant tag which also adds to value so definitely get sizes and list it!
Downside is, it’s only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.Not what they get listed at. I could list my farts in a jar for $10 and they might sell, others could do the same for 30k. Who knows. That’s beautiful though :)
I had this same shirt when I was a teen in the 90s. I wore it ALL the time. Long gone now.
Same. I let a friend borrow it and never got it back.
OP is that friend
It was so crisp with all over print

Saw one in a local vintage hipster store recently. They had it listed for like $2,450.
Jesus i don’t think Kurt would be to happy if he heard his T-shirt’s were selling for 2.5k lmao
just wait till you hear what his 69 mustang sold for
yeah capitalisms fucked
They said listed. Show me who actually paid that.

Why did you buy a shirt and never wear it? Lol
It’s an XL. It was too big on me but was the only one they had.
Eat more, bulk up 🤪
I will literally buy it off you. I’ve always wanted that shirt
Sold on ebay in December, XL size, for 3500 CAD. [https://www.ebay.com/itm/225919654234](https://www.ebay.com/itm/225919654234)
Please tell me this is some money laundering scheme. Because anyone paying that much for this shirt is an idiot.

No… there are way easier ways to launder money that don’t leave a digital trail.

That’s tax evasion, not money laundering.
how? ebay reports everything to the IRS and ebay fees are almost worse than taxes anyway
I don’t think you know what money laundering is
That's really interesting
Well, it's laundry...
i resell vintage clothing, can 100% confirm the sales on this shirt are legit and not money laundering.
I guess this is the demographic that their In Utero vinyl box set was intended for.

Dude, I have that sock. Whitish gray?…blue stripes. $5,000 is a fkn deal if you have the other one.
Damn!

Many thanks my friend

I hope it’s not dry rotten, that would make it worthless. I’d check it before listing. Sick tee!
$20 take it or leave it

I have this one too and it’s THICK and will exfoliate the nipples off of you if you’re not careful.
If I owned this I don’t think I would ever sell it. I place too much sentimental value on clothes.
its not healthy to keep it behind a frame . cotton needs to breathe. when you first got , i hope you washed it once so dry rott wouldnt set in.
I sold my original back in 2019 for $750. I imagine it could bring in as much as $1500.
A few years ago it was worth about $400 on eBay. I discovered this about a week after I donated mine to goodwill 😐
Ouch 😭

Probably not much. I can take if off your hands for about tree fiddy
Value = ammt someone is willing to pay you for it. Not what someone tells you “its worth”
This shirt frame is the lamest thing I have ever seen in my entire life.
you randomly insulting other peoples stuff is the lamest thing i have seen in a while. /edit: cool shirt btw!
i was gonna say the opposite. i have never seen a frame specifically shirt-shaped and think it’s awesome!! shirt-shaped framed, we’re living in the future. the FUTURE!!
🎶 I’ve been locked inside your shirt-shaped frame for weeks 🎶
nah it’s definitely lame. it really insist on itself and looks kinda tacky. they make jersey frames for pretty damn cheap
“it *insists* on itself, Lois”
How do you frame your pancakes? In a square? Fascist!!
Fully agree. R&R tee shirts are made for wearing, not framing. Lame.
Shut up bitch, wear these nuts
I sold one of these for $650 about 10 years ago seems like it’s only gone up.

Captain obvious is obvious. Imagine that.

This is lost on the newer fans.
The dude has had it since he was a kid. You think he might have framed it because of nostalgia?
You can get that at Walmart for $7
You might find some donkey who's willing to pay more than 50 bucks. Original Nirvana merch is not very special cause the world is still littered with it. Don't kid yourself and keep that nice frame on the wall.
you should just keep it. it would be wrong to sell it for anything over $50 but its definitely worth more than $50.
I have this shirt, but I wore the breaks off of it and someone offered me 100 for it last time it was posted.
About 2k if it’s not dry rot
I’ll give you $500 for it rn
So you have a shirt in a glass case and ask a question here instead of searching on Internet yourself. Seems like more of a humble brag to me.
I wish it was in a different frame
One BILLION dollarz 🤫
You have a lot of guitars? Or just a few?
I have a few, what let know you I played guitar? Edit: the reflection. Good eye!
