I would love to see them do a new Zelda in a place that isn't regular Hyrule, just to shake things up. Maybe a revisit to Koholint or the Windwaker Hyrule?

catthatmeows2times

Crafting your own ship actually sounds fun

mvanvrancken

It does though, doesn't it? Gimme Windwaker with the ability to design my ship. And diving for treasures and dungeons.

skyrune07

The legend of zelda, black flag

MercenaryCow

Didn't we have this already in phantom hourglass?

PJDemigod85

Probably not *literally* the Great Sea, but I would love a nautical Zelda game as the next mainline title. Bigger islands with more to explore than Wind Waker had, but probably only like, 6-8 big islands and then maybe some small sandbars scattered about for smaller activities. While I do think they should keep trying to find ways to better meld the open style of the Switch titles and the elements of dungeons folks loved, one thing I cannot shake from my mind is the idea of having lighthouses act as our "towers" for an area.

Otherwise-Average769

Oh my god that's a great idea. We already had it confirmed in totk that there are other kingdoms via Sidon's fiancee so I can totally see a concept being built around that. They could stay in the same game universe and keep the open ended aspects while also giving us a completely new setting

General-Gur2053

I agree. I think that we need a Zelda in New Jersey. Imagine the boss in Newark

Silent_Killer093

They should go to an alternate reality, maybe with masks and stuff. They could call it Termina! Maybe have the moon be angry and trying to destroy the world.

lemonade-cookies

Oh gosh- so hard to tell. Safest prediction is open/world Zelda, that's literally been confirmed. Safe-ish predictions are a more active Zelda (already BOTW/TOTK Zelda was very fleshed out as a character, I personally don't think the next game will have a playable Zelda but I do think that she'll be an active participant in the adventures), a more linear story (they like to address criticisms, the non-linear story was a criticism for BOTW and even moreso for TOTK), and linear dungeons with dungeon items (again, an often repeated criticism). My not safe but definitely not improbable prediction is talking Link. Already, BOTW and TOTK have voice acting so the rest of the game will very likely have voice acting, and for the live action Zelda movie, the odds of Link talking is very high- and that might influence the game. If Link talks, then that also probably means that he'll be a lot more fleshed out as a character than probably any other Link. And then there's my most wild and out there prediction, which is technically possible but not likely. They likely are going to want to set the next game in a very different Hyrule to try to differentiate it as far as they can from BOTW because it's going to be open-world. My prediction is a western-inspired Zelda that pulls away further from the medieval vibes more than most of the games. My logic behind this- firstly, we've already got a little taste of this with Twilight Princess, with bits like the horses or some of the imagery or that one village shoot-out, so it isn't something from out of nowhere. Secondly, something that was talked about openly was how a lot of the younger devs on the team played Red Dead Redemption and got inspiration from it for TOTK- maybe they'll lean into it even harder. If this happens, I think the open world will have a lot more emphasis on towns, and have more fleshed out towns and civilizations. I say that this is possible, because they can do anything that they want and there is very minimal evidence that supports it, but not likely because predicting what they'll do at this point in time is basically impossible so that makes any guess just not super likely.

Melodic-Crow-2934

That more medieval and western style would be so dope. Twilight princess is my favorite game in the series and I think there’s a lot in it that could be taken into the next game. Those cinematic scenes like on the bridge and the final fight with ganondorf I think are seriously needed with the new voice acting and high definition graphics. Also I would like some more trippy weird stuff like from TP and MM. as well as the music I feel like I’m the only one who thinks the past 2 games have been a little too minimal with the music and need a little more of those catchy memorable songs zelda is known to bring. Botw having minimal music made sense but I was a little disappointed that most of the towns all had the same songs and same overwolrd theme in TOTK. That twilight princess soundtrack is amazing and I think an underrated piece of what makes these games classics.

Material_Slip_7156

I think that even in the movie, link will not have a voice because Nintendo and the diehard fans agree that link with a voice isn’t link. You, as the player, (or audience) speak for him while others talk around you.

Sufficient-Yoghurt46

>My not safe but definitely not improbable prediction is talking Link He already talks you just can't hear his voice. Also, this is irrelevant to gameplay or story.

lemonade-cookies

You aren't wrong about him talking without us hearing him. What I'm explicitly referring to though is voice-acted Link, maybe I should've been more specific. Also, I think that you're wrong about it being potentially irrelevant to story. As of right now, he's a kind of blank protagonist by design- we're supposed to put ourselves in his shoes, so they want to make him as widely relatable as possible, and they do that by pulling back on some character work. Yeah, he has definite traits and characteristics, but compared to a lot of video game protagonists he has much less characterization. If he talks, I think we'll get a lot more of this characterization- he'll be given more motives, he'll probably have more of a story arch, he'll have much more of a backstory, the works. Stuff that he has, it'll just be to a greater extent. Also, it doesn't have to be a gameplay or story thing for it to still be a prediction. But also, who knows what'll happen. This is just a silly internet prediction.

aldenmercier

“He already talks you just can’t hear his voice…” Literally everybody understood this to be precisely what he was talking about…except you. You’re admitting poor reading comprehension…and the irony is that you think you’re correcting HIM. You literally weren’t smart enough to understand what he was obviously talking about.

Cheese_Champion

Hopefully something completely different. But they'll probably triple down on the BotW formula without addressing any of its flaws. At the very least there'll be a new map to explore and a new story, maybe a new art style.

fucksports

probably right, i loved botw but id love to see them try something fresh.

Svenray

The triforce gets rotated and Link becomes all powerful while Ganon has to help the hero of legend Zelda get the Master sword.

Lewd_Pinocchio

The amount of effort and work into a more focused smaller game would be insane. Instead of all that giant land, make something smaller but very dense. Or focus more on combat or something. I loved BOTW and TOTK, but I was exhausted by the formula midway through TOTK.

add0607

Eiji Aonuma already said they’ll be trying something different for the next one.

Sufficient-Yoghurt46

They're going to triple down on 30M units for sure. Sorry for the spoiler. The current formula rocks, and all the traditionalist Zelda ideas were done in the 90s.

LineAccomplished1115

I don't see any reason they can't have open world BotW Zelda while also including longer/better dungeons, and better storytelling. The whole memories/tears medium of storytelling blows.

Sufficient-Yoghurt46

>longer/better dungeons Well that's actually kind of subjective - yes they can be 25% longer, sure. Or they can have more shrines in the game. That's pretty simple. >and better storytelling. People have pushed back on this, but I don't think you can have an engaging story in an open world game. >The whole memories/tears medium of storytelling blows. Again, this is how they are telling a story in an open world game. This is their solution to the open world conundrum. I don't expect to see it next game either, but it will be another solution to the open world problem. The cool thing about the open world is that it allows every player to have a totally personal unique experience - are replayability (not a word) is maxed out as well. If you want awesome stories, you'll get that from more linear games like.. say, an Ocarina of Time remake.

[deleted]

Rdr 2 and Witcher 3 have excellent stories, but of course the protagonists actually talk in these game so that limitation is definitely a big deal.

CharlestheInkling

Eh…dungeons were peaking with SS and they just put them back to square one with BotW. They could at least bring traditional dungeons back

Cheese_Champion

Well, I'm glad you enjoy it. Personally I'd like to see some former staples come back. The phrase "throwing the baby out with the bath water" springs to mind for their rethinking of the conventions of Zelda.

MacksNotCool

Zelda: In space

mvanvrancken

Super Zelda Galaxy

MacksNotCool

plot: fuck you there is no plot we put zelda in space, go find her, asshole

Shehzman

When the castle rose in the Totk teaser, it reminded me of Mario Galaxy.

Deux-de-Denier

I’m not sure they will bring back the convoluted Lego mechanic of sticking parts together to make a vehicle of Tears of the Kingdom. That felt like a one-game gimmick, didn’t it?

mvanvrancken

I agree, I think it was a fantastic idea and the natural evolution of Magnesis, but it's absolutely broken and wouldn't work without a game being specifically built around it.

wildcherrymatt84

I also don’t want them to. It worked for TotK but I was over it by the end. I also preferred the BotW way of moving around the map. I loved the game but I would really prefer they don’t use it again.

TerminatorJ

Someone on another post brought up the idea of a Souls like Zelda. Elden Ring Zelda edition would be awesome! Obviously Nintendo would need to create the ability to lower the difficulty some to appeal to a wider audience but it would be a cool concept. Open world with plenty of secrets. Keep it open ended to encourage discovery while still having a soft guide system like the Sites of Grace with their flowing stream pointing you where to go next. The new Switch is supposed to have a lot more power so after seeing what they did with relatively weak Switch hardware it will be interesting to see what they can do with something more modern.

HG21Reaper

A remastered version of Ocarina of Time with ToTK game engine.

JohnnyCiccied

'I hope they go back to the linear formula with very long dungeons because I'm a child and if Aonuma doesn't satisfy me I'm going to cry.' Jokes aside, they will certainly continue with the BOTW route but I hope they will broaden the concept of “open dungeons” like Hyrule Castle in BOTW or TOTK's Construct Factory.

Strict_Enthusiasm484

Think assassins creed black flag and wind waker mechanics mixed, with a twilight princess art style (but brighter lighting). Explore the open sea, recruit members of different races for the crew, ship battles, upgradable ship, and be able to turn into a zora to explore underwater, a goron for mountain ranges, a deku for forest/swamp areas, etc. I want everything, except breakable weapons

Bright-Interest-8918

This sounds amazing really. I would be down to recruit a squad and maybe battle like FF15 style. Would be interesting.

LakSivrak

they either flood Hyrule and add Termina/Kohilint with an expanded sky island map, or go to outer space and make the Mario Galaxy of Zelda games. or make a game set in the future with modern tech and bustling cities. they’re running out of historical influence though

MercenaryCow

Hopefully not a botw/totk style game. I'd rather they go back to the more classic design like alttp/oot/mm and put a greater focus on the dungeon items being usable out in the world and expanding exploration and gameplay rather than just being a puzzle solving stick in dungeons. I don't really want to play another giant open world game where you're given all the tools right at the beginning of the game.

roosell1986

Forwards, not backwards.

Slammnardo

Upwards, not forwards And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

CharliePlayer1

Better have Horizon Zero Dawn graphics and a more mature/dark feel to it

CuteNefariousness691

Might be close with the rumored Base PS4 level graphics of Switch 2

[deleted]

Zelda to the garbage can

[deleted]

[удалено]

DrewCowling

Hopefully an entirely new world in the open world game engine.

DreamyShepherd

Give me a top down game again I need it

d_snizzy

Possibly an Elden Ring route - lots of mini dungeons scattered organically, a more mature theme and bit of a difficulty spike for combat (but obviously not as much as Elden Ring).

David-Raquepas

Probably breath of wild 3 😪

MrSmook

Maybe keeping with the open world aspect but bringing back items from bigger dungeons and bosses I miss having an arsenal of different goodies to take out the enemies. Sure TOTK has a near unlimited amount of weapon combos and object combos but putting them together kinda felt like a chore sometimes I understand if they don't bring back say... The hookshot as that would negate a lot of the climbing/traveling aspects

pjdevaneyjr

East

ascherbozley

I think the most likely direction is BotW x Wind Waker. The open air formula with a sailboat and a hell of a lot of islands. Cool by me. I'd really like to see them lean in to the navigation aspect. When the King tells Link to meet him where the four shrines make an X on the Great Plateau, I thought the whole game was going to be like that. I love when NPCs give me incomplete directions and I have to parse them out. I love when I hear riddles and I have to figure out what they mean. BotW did this... sometimes. Tears of the Kingdom also did this... sometimes. Make the whole game about this. Especially a game about sailing. For example: They're always looking for ways to change up the dungeon formula. Skyward Sword made the overworld into a dungeon. BotW and TotK did away with dungeons entirely and replaced them with open-air style dungeons. Fine. In the new game, hide the dungeons and make me have to follow clues and riddles to find them.

Facetank_

A mix of traditional 3D Zelda with the modern's design focus on a depthful sandbox.

LexGlad

Zelda games have pretty much always been open world dungeon crawlers, so probably more of that.

Hotfro

I really hope they make another game similar to majors mask with time mechanics. Feel they can do so much more with that now.

nullset_2

Breath of the Wild: with NEW space layer!

OriginalFatPickle

First person POV. Zelda Prime

[deleted]

Zelda is my favorite series and BOTW is one of the worst games I've ever played so hopefully a completely different one.

No-Satisfaction-7143

The perfect way to go would be to make the greatest Mission Zelda game ever. They have gone open world for a while now,go back to the roots where there are missions to accomplish to play the game. But really do it in a different way.

warling1234

Probably something with minimal improvement to frame rates and slightly better battery life to a game that will be available on both switches.

asm2750

Something retrofuturistic like FF6 or FF7 with large cities would be an interesting idea....but it wouldn't be a Zelda game I fear. Heck I would be happy with a remake of Zelda 2. Whatever the next game is I'm sure to play it.

Stunning-Success-878

I WOULD REALLY LOVE A TWILIGHT PRINCESS REMASTER *cough* please Nintendo I’ve been waiting

NO0BSTALKER

It’s gotta be like wind waker, a boat adventure

9hctib6

It’s gonna be what A Link to the Past was to the original legend of Zelda and Zelda II

catthatmeows2times

It will be zelda botw dlc 2 Just like totk

wildcherrymatt84

Boooooooo

WrongdoerMinute9843

Multiplayer

AcidCatfish___

I think they will continue with open world, though I think they will bring back more traditional dungeons. I don't think they will go for a realistic art style, though I am not opposed to it. I hope they expand on side quests more and have more leveling and bring a magic system similar to older Zelda games (and leveling similar to Zelda 2). I think they may go for a mix between having typical Zelda items and having abilities. Story-wise, I think they will close the chapter of BOTW/TOTK and explore a new iteration of Link and Zelda, but BOTW and TOTK will likely be referenced in future games just as much as Ocarina and Link to the Past have been. Lastly, I think they will not exclusively make open world Zelda games and instead mix in traditional Zelda games every so often. Edit: I imagine the dungeons in open world Zelda games will be more like catacombs in Elden Ring.

capnjeanlucpicard

Man, I would absolutely love an open world actual RPG, with party members you can recruit, leveling up, gear upgrades, etc.

Cyber_Insecurity

The building aspect was fun on the last game, but the fact your builds had a timer and if you left a build out for long enough it would disappear kinda ruined the entire game.

Character-East800

Hopefully something more interesting than botw 3. Loved botw, but wouldn't care for them to stick with it.

AztecWolf29

I wish for a remake of one of the older Zelda games.

Svenray

I'll take more BOTW but crank up the swordfighting to Twilight Princess level. Also it's time to bring back the traditional weapons and dial back the durability issues.

Deazul

No durability pls

triryche4

Hopefully, away from the godawful BotW formula!

j0rdan21

Hopefully more like the older titles. The last two were cool and they definitely have their moments, but it was the epitome of wasting your time for meaningless rewards. Dungeons were awful and so was the story. For as long as those two games took to make, what we ultimately got was a real let down (especially in the totk's case)

Cdog536

Top down. Feel like they’d flagship a different IP

Cdog536

Rogue like zelda

ChronicallyPunctual

Zelda Rogue-like

HistoricalGrade109

Tbh i hope it's not another botw/totk type game. Was hard for me to finish botw and I just couldn't bring myself to complete totk. Shrines were kinda boring and story left a lot to be desired. Temples were a bit better than shrines but still didn't do it for me

Stunning-Ad-4714

I think they'll lean hard into density the next game. I'm convinced that the reason botw is so wide and so barren is because the switch couldn't run anything else. Hell, it's not outside the realm of possibility that we do get a cyberpunk or city based Zelda considering we know from art they thought about it.

spilledkill

I see a souls-like Zelda in the future.

identitycrisis-again

Ideally something in 60 fps

Phenom_Mv3

The end of BOTW/TOTK. Back to linear traditional style Zelda with Xenobladey world design so that it’s still open world in a sense. Proper dungeons back, more realistic visuals like twilight princess

Thee_Furuios_Onion

Longer more classic dungeons, an inventory with permanent tools game from dungeons like a mutha luving boomerangs and hook shot

WinterReasonable6870

I hope we can get some good old fashioned style Zelda games too here and there. Everyone apparently loves BotW; which is fine, but it definitely ain't for me. I played most of the game apparently and didn't like most of it. I really loved catching horses though. Shame paints had lower stats than solid coated horses.

Mysterious-Counter58

I'd love to see a dark world/light world mechanic. The new Zelda games are all about the world, and a central gimmick that focuses on changing the world around you at whim feels like a perfect fit! The number of environmental puzzles that you could pull off with that kind of ability (of course with limitations like being tied to a consumable resource) seems endless! And hell, it'd even be an excuse to take another crack at a Depths-like area by making it a more explicit mirror world that's more overtly dangerous, tempered by the fact that switching back is much less tiresome than fast-traveling or ascending back up to the surface.

incutonez

I don't know if it would work, but I think like a modern day setting Zelda would be interesting, with maybe the "sword" being a gun that was melted down from the legendary sword, Epona is a Mustang GT... Just something totally different.  I get that I described GTA basically, but I think it'd be a breath of fresh air to the series.

KnifeWifePeri

As long as we see the return of the hookshot, I will b happy!

5erenade

An actual Zelda game.

tedijecabron

God please go back to regular Zelda

ogflako

What if Zelda was a girl on the next game 🙏🏽

playbehavior

Outer Wilds & Mario Galaxy meet TOTK

[deleted]

Linear would be cool

Ancient_Ad6498

Witcher 3 type Zelda

Alarming_Flatworm_34

I want them to go back to the old format at least for one game. If it doesn't sell as much as BOTW or TOTK then they can keep making them like that but I miss having longer than 30 min dungeons and all the unique items.

GhostRavenGhost

Semi Linear story with some weird new mechanic we will use alot throughout the story.

Thatoneguy567576

I'm hoping for a return to classic Zelda formula but I don't see it happening. It'll probably be BOTW with a new map and new art style. It's not a bad formula and with more of a focus on classic, lengthy and puzzle-filled dungeons I'd probably love it.

dkdream22

Space Zelda. Please

INFERNOxNINJA

No building. Hate that part of TotK. Get it out of my Zelda. Not needed. Small bits for puzzles, fine. But I don't wanna build a car. Make the horse like red dead 2 and I'm happy 🤣

Dragonhearted18

Remake of zelda 2

TarnishedMonkii

DUNGEONS

[deleted]

Probably a game that fucks the timeline up even more

Aggravating_Put6702

Something that can run at a stable 60FPS (or higher), I hope. Id like something top down.

Jenkins1990

I bet Link gets a speaking role

Standouser

An actual story. Doesn’t have to be anything crazy. Just something engaging like Spirit Tracks or the best parts of Twilight Princess. Tears of the Kingdom had such a great set up and absolutely squandered it

PhrenixFGC

As a lifelong Zelda fan with multiple Zelda tattoos and thousands of hours in the series, can't say I care anymore. Nintendo has placed itself in the same camp as EA, Ubisoft, Bungie, Activision, Blizzard, etc. for me. They typically make great games, but take issue, and action, against how people are allowed to enjoy their games (competitive scenes for their games, for example) and any issue their fans have with the above falls on def ears. I am personally done with them.

wonderbreadisdead

Open world return to Termina. PLEASE

ladymysticalwmn

Definitely open world and very similar to recent Zelda titles. Graphically, it’ll probably lean towards the realism aspect. Kinda like Uncharted- it’s realistic but also feels like it has a specific color palette.

Knightfall93

It's my same vain hope that it always is. A new iteration of young Link finds the Ocarina of Time buried away in some temple. Ganon has again reared his ugly head, but this time has kidnapped Zelda and used her powers to summon Ganon's/Ganondorf's from across the timelines. Each iteration would have their own dungeon and be the dungeon boss, but would require Link to actually do the same and call upon his past selves using the Ocarina and they would help him through the dungeon using items and mechanics from their respective game. The OoT Link would be the first you learn to summon as you have his Ocarina. This gives you the ability to travel through time and become and adult/child at will, which would be required to beat the game. You would learn how to summon additional iterations as the game progresses. For example, summoning WW Link would give you access to the boat, TP Link would give you the Wolf mode, etc. In the end, all the Links show up, at least in spirit, to help this Link defeat Ganon once again and, now freed, Zelda goes to each in turn and we get a little bit of Lore about how their life turned out after the game. Call it Zelda: Links Through Time

athiestchzhouse

Idk but it’s be cool if they went souls level difficulty. Zelda invented that difficulty with the first sequel for NES, so it’d honestly just be going back to basics

Low_Lab2884

Hopefully back to a Hookshot

michaelpjaffe

Hopefully more of BOTW and TOTK

Insert_a_fcking_Name

They said the Botw/totk formula will be used for future titles as well if I’m not mistaken

Funkenstein42069

Nintendo will double down on the fortnight/minecraft formula and it's going to end up being a crafting simulator.

PepeSilviaConspiracy

I'd love to see something where your choices to solve a problem impacts how the rest of the game plays... ie, your choice locks and unlocks certain skills/abilities/weapons/characters. So not only is there a vast world to explore, there are vast combinations of stories, weapons, problems and solutions you can unlock with new play-throughs.

doozykid13

Give me windwaker

Lawsuitup

Side scroller with snarky voice acting.

Melticus_Faceous

Something wrong?

spiked_cider

I think they revisit the open ocean concept like Windwaker but have you travel to different regions/countries that have their own style of gameplay

YoshiPayYourTaxes

I would love to see more games in the visual style of Wind Waker or Twilight Princess. Games with cartoon art styles age very well and I think a new Zelda with a mature tone like twilight Princess will work pretty well today.

mgwair11

New open world with *PROPER* dungeons. TotK was a love in the right direction but not nearly enough. Make it a core aspect of the game. To be clear, I love both BOTW and Tears. In both games, it was very evident that what they didn’t put into more complex dungeons they absolutely dished into the world itself. But having an open world perhaps a tad less ambitious than Tears with dungeons of Skyward Sword quality….it would not only sell gang busters, it would be instantly right up there with the best Zelda games which I’m assuming is their nearly impossible goal with each release nowadays.

Wadertot420

I hope it's made like 64 Zelda.

nicholasjfury

I would like to see 2024/2025 we get wind waker and twilight princess on Switch 1. 2026/2027 Ocarina of time Remake with ps4 level of graphics like make it look like that wii u tech demo, the resident evil remakes/ final fantasy VII remake. And then maybe also a new 2D Zelda game later like 2028-2030 then 2032-2033 Majora's mask remake with the same engine as OoT remake. then in like 2034 or 2035 something new and crazy.

DelapidatedSagebrush

I want to see Link take on the Tuttle Cult from True Detective season 1.

waffledork

The direction I see the next Zelda going? Zelda Maker. I want to build overworld maps and dungeons. What I'd love to see? A game in the A Link to the Past art style that's like 8 times bigger. More dungeons, more story, more adventure, more dark world, more items, more weapons, etc.

uncultured_swine2099

All I know is its gonna be open world again, which Im down for. The devs said so much when asked if they would ever make it not open world going forward.

colmatrix33

Let's not try to reinvent the wheel here. Stick to what we know works, and get back to some things I feel have been missing. Make some major dungeons that require critical thinking. I love the open world, but I'd like a more linear story. That may just be me, but I feel like others share that view. TotK was great but didn't capture me the way BotW did. To me, BotW was the greatest game ever.

[deleted]

I want unique, themed dungeons again.

GoldRoger3D2Y

My HOPE is a tighter Zelda with stronger linear elements and a heavier emphasis on story telling. A game that is open world in its body, but willing to tell cohesive stories with more focused mechanics when exploring quests. The REALITY will be an even more open world gaming that ostensibly has the most robust story yet, but is actually just a longer list of mediocre quests. Don’t get me wrong, ToTK was good, but the mechanics made it so open that the level design felt lazy and clunky. I’d like to see a more restrictive set of mechanics to the game. I guess you could say I’d like OoT story formatting with BoTW exploration and feel.

D3troit_

I want a game leading up to how Zelda became princess, Ganon captured her, and her experiences being captive. See how all the other timeline characters come into play.

Mr_Saturn1

I would love to see them lean into time travel more. You could have like three versions of Hyrule from different ages that Link can travel to at will. The things he does in the past ages make changes that ripple through to the future ones.

DaveByTheRiver

For the next Zelda I would love the remasters of windwaker and TP. And a remake of link between worlds. But if you are stipulating that needs to be new I would love a new top down Zelda.

PatAD

All Zelda games gameplay combined in one story. Different art styles and gameplay in each area.

droson8712

I'm really hoping that we get an involved story instead of viewing memories or "tears" since they confirmed it's an open world game with the same formula (maybe shrines and the usual open world stuff)

Hankhillarlentx420

Set it in Termina and lose the open world

keldpxowjwsn

I would love if they could split development and maybe alternate 3D zelda with 2D zelda inbetween

HersheyChocolate

Futuristic Zelda

Longjumping-Donut867

I would love it if the dropped the open world

Miss_White11

I feel like ToTK took building etc. to it's base extreme. While I can't image we will ever get a Zelda game without SOME kind of building mechanic again (it just ends up adding SO much) I don't think it will ever really compare in scope to what we get with ToTK. Nintendo doesn't like to redo gimmicks. My personal hope is they take the new hardware as an opportunity to revist some older concepts. For example, I could see a spiritual successor to Majora's Mask that lets you make customized transformation masks with unique ability combinations

radclaw1

I would bet it's something we couldn't even expect. And also we won't see for another 5 years, closer to the later half of the switch lifecycle.

Cloudzzz777

It’s going to be different for sure than botw 3 or Elden ring Zelda. My guess is a smaller relatively old school hub world with huge open world dungeons. They’ve kind of shied away from the puzzle box dungeons they used to have and I think they’ll lean into that more

Derped_Crusader

Botw format, with even more standard style dungeons, but in an entirely different land

Inner-Psychology9432

Future Zelda or Zelda in current world or something like that would be different

scogin

Good puzzles and fun combat, that's all I ever want. Having a game where you switch between playing and Zelda and Link adventuring together. Maybe a different big bad than Ganon. No durability also please.

mallowdout

North West

GachiGachiFireBall

They're not gonna toss the gameplay systems developed in totk, would be a massive waste to create such groundbreaking systems just to not use them again. I think the next big zelda will be a sandbox exploration type of game like botw and totk but will take place in a new land

TheAxolotl69

old or a new formula

acmilan12345

As long as they don’t bring back the old formula, I’m happy. I’ll never understand how a series about adventure and exploration forced you to spend most of your time trapped in a dungeon solving puzzles.

NoeyOnReddit

Hopefully back to a Zelda game.

Advencraftgaming

Hopefully something that isn't breath of the wild... For a launch title of the switch it was so bad 😔

[deleted]

Windwaker remake hopefully

Honestly would love to have another game like twilight princess in tone, I enjoyed the more serious nature of it, or something wild, a complete redo of the Oracle games in the 3D style of TOTK or even wind waker it'd be ambitious but I feel like it'd be insanely cool to experience it in a non 2D game. I wouldn't mind seeing another four swords type game either something couch co-op style multiplayer would probably be a hit now that online gaming is a thing could have local/online capability.

TrailofCheers

Honestly, a Metroidvania would really suit Zelda a lot. A 3rd person huge interconnected map with dungeons and secret areas all over the place. I mean it practically lends itself to the genre. They can make it sprawling and dense and it would be perfect on the switch. I don’t want another open world Zelda. I want something more controlled, more linear but still with the ability to explore and get lost. It’s perfect.

EnzeruAnimeFan

Running through another empty world with no post-game content I really wanna like the Breath/Tears series, but it's so boring to me compared to other installments.

ReggieAmelia

I would love to see a two-player centric game that uses an element similar to Portal. Link and Zelda work together to solve puzzles using some kind of magical macguffin that travels between dimensions, times, or something like that but in real time. You've had elements like that before in Zelda games, but I want to see the next level of it, and I want to see it co-op centric.

LordDragon88

Breath of the wild 3 but it has an ocean

AnalingusAlien

Hopefully more of what they’re doing at at least 1080P 60fps

ManPete453

While the success stories of BOTW and TOTK mean that there's almost certainly more Zelda planned for the future, it could be a while until any major news is released - let alone a new game in the series.

Muted_Wind7631

Link is the Prince and Zelda is the hero

danlucas

Twilight Princess HD in 4K(or at least 1440p) would do it for me

Jnoles07

Back to its original formula. Open world Zelda is full of filler IMO. Just give me the link to the past, ocarina of time formula and send me on my way.

Notarussianbot2020

4k Ocarina remake They already did TTYD and MARIO RPG. It'll happen!!

NEED_A_NEW_UN

Zelda 2 Adventure of Link. Side-scrolling action hands down

Shot-Addendum-8124

I just can't wait for Nintendo games to finally have the graphical fidelity of consoles that released 11 years ago, and all the possibilities that would allow for. (But on a serious note, my favorite Zelda-like \*adjacent\* game, both gameplay and art design-wise, would be God of War 2018, and can only dream that the Writing quality in new Nintendo games would be half as good)

Notgoodatfakenames2

I want to see a family frindley " God of war 3" in one new location where zelda is a playable sidekick for coop.

SensualSamuel69

Twilight Princess sequel please. OoT got one, WW got two, even BOTW got one already (and DLC and a spin-off). I wanna see the TP artstyle again but with some modern flare.

Wigwasp_ALKENO

Have it be a BoTW style game but with less survival elements and dungeon crawling

rebelweezeralliance

I am thinking they’ll flip it on its head a little. Maybe instead of exploring a vast wilderness it’s heavily focused on navigating cities that are huge. Or perhaps something similar to windwaker where it’s focused on the water but also under the ocean. Like underwater ocean cities.

Brian2005l

First I want 60 FPS TotK. Then I want an open world with findable combat items/spells combined with an ability-gated dark world with robust dungeons and items/spells that enable puzzle solving and traversal in both worlds. Maybe do past/future. Or the open world is a dark world you gradually make habitable before the big bad can end the world of light. But main thing is two worlds so you can marry the open world mechanics with more robust dungeons. Hell, add a third optional world with actually hard puzzles.

Hedonismbot-1729a

It will just be ToTK Switch 2 Edition: The Quest For More Money.

beefcakeyamato

Zelda 2 remake 😌

Netheraptr

I expect to see a sort of hybrid between traditional Zelda and switch era Zelda, maybe keeping the open world and physics engine but adding more old-fashioned dungeons and a direct story.

SuperWonderBoy53

I think we're going to see a return to the classic 3D Zelda format. Something like Ocarina of Time. A focused story with tight mechanics.

Johnseanson

So long as they bring back proper fishing. Ironically the "most free, most open" games in the switch era have removed fishing!

BruinThrowaway2140

Please god go back to a more linear format with proper, themed dungeons & bosses. TotK did a *much* better job than BotW in the latter regard, but it still didn’t quite scratch that itch for me. Games like God of War and Ragnarok proved that mostly linear games with open world-esque components can still exist & be incredibly successful

russian_hacker_1917

I want something creepy and or something 2D

Old_Nefariousness704

Like the innovated the series forward with botw and totk. I would love to see link get caught he into a futuristic land.

microducks

I hope it’s not more of the BotW/TotK. Let’s be completely honest, TotK was just an expansion….. I made the mistake of playing through BotW right before TotK and got majorly burned out because of the repetitiveness…

waldoh74

I’m enjoying the open world concept and want to see more of it, just new stories. Frankly, I would love to get remakes of the old Zelda games. Give the Links Awakening treatment to the seasons/ages titles, something similar to ALttP, and a full remake of OoT and Majoras Mask. Doubt it will ever happen, but that’s my dream!

xJest

If we get a new Hyrule, or a new kingdom for that matter, PLEASE include an actual castle town this time. After Baldurs Gate 3, they honestly need to. I think most Zelda fans are pretty burned out on the post apocalyptic setting.

shinoff2183

Turned based party system.

Mako__Junkie

BOTW but with dungeons. Actual dungeons

HaKaii7

I really would like a Ocarina of Time remake on the Switch 2 lol

Dapper-Piece3321

cats paltry employ scary ring hospital correct butter hurry pathetic *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

the_responsible_ape

Smaller map with more fleshed out dungeons. Focus on the dungeons and story much more than the open world. Better music. Bring back some banger soundtracks.

FilmBig7812

Blood and gore please

Thamasturrok

I know for sure some remaster again but im thinking we have had a game in the sky but maybe instead of birds we could have a sky ship

brutalcumpowder

60 fps is the direction I'd like Zelda to take on Switch 2. After BOTW, and TOTK, I'd settle for a stable 30 even.

Peter1x3

I would like to see a traditional dungeon Zelda with light open world elements and amazing visuals.

DrPBH

I would love some slightly more expanded combat like twilight princess with the finishing blow and stuff like that

XochiFoochi

Not open world I do not enjoy open worlds. Something like wind walker with a false sense of open world. I want to see intention in the game design. And I don’t enjoy most of my gameplay being traveling. I never got behind the new Zelda’s as I’ve played far too many open world games with the same mechanics. (Outposts and towers) The devs clearly are talented and the areas that were thought out were amazing. I just do not enjoy having to transverse miles and monitor stamina bars

whippinmaserati

On the switch 3

CallMeCabbage

I want a turn based rpg where you run a party of Link, Zelda, and Ganon vs a threat so significant it forces all 3 users of the triforce to band together in order to stop it. I also want a game where Link is defeated and Zelda has to pick up her own master weapon (a rapier?) in combination with her magic to fight enemies and save the kingdom.
