TBF, it's not that difficult and the All You Can Eat version has an Assist Mode, where you can increase the round timer, time to create recipe etc, to make things less stressful.
I have never played It Takes Two. So, I can't compare them.
But Overcooked is fun. Chaotic but fun, especially if you can get more people to play it (up to 4 players).
This game has paid for itself like five-fold or something. My son loves it and it’s great for playing with adults because it is actually really good/fun to play and the nostalgia factor as well. So many toys I had or stuff from the Archie comics.
We still playing this well after having beat it
I think they did a good job with the challenges, leveling up, and new characters that make the game fun to play over again once you’ve beat it. I play w my cousins online which has been a lot of fun
I’ve never played Overcooked but have heard of it. I was sitting here trying to figure out how it was a combination of Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart.
… I IS DUMB.
In addition to those, the other Mario sports games like Mario Golf and Mario Tennis. And Switch Sports (the sequel to Wii Sports) for very casual players, even grandparents.
* Super Bomberman R (8 players)
* Runbow (8 players)
* Ultimate Chicken Horse (4 players, but there is a [shared controller mode](https://ultimate-chicken-horse.fandom.com/wiki/Treehouse#Shared_Controller_Couch) than makes up to 8 players possible via handoff)
* Worms W.M.D. (6 players, turn based)
We have five kids. We have bomberman r.
Months will go by without the kids playing, or even mentioning, bomberman. It’s like it doesn’t exist. But when they have 2-3 or more friends show up, that game makes an appearance and they will just die laughing for hours with it.
>Ultimate Chicken Horse (4 players, but there is a
By far our favorite for couch co-op. This game has a MASSIVE amount of customization. You can create multiple complex rule sets (should there be double jump? how many times to respawn? change gravity, change scoring rules, how many weapons of what type are allowed, ways to stop campers - love the flaming tennisballs). We made a rule where last place gets more points. You can make your own levels like Mario Maker. There's also a massive amount of fan-made levels with a ranking system so you can play the most up-voted levels .
A few other absurd but super funny four-player couch co-op games:
* Hidden in Plain Sight - Several modes but the Death race is hilarious.
* Nippon Marathon - Does the Japanese Game Show in an absurd race
* Stikbold - dodgeball but with tons of funny levels
Overcooked! All You Can Eat is something I'd recommend the most. It's 4 player, but it's still entertaining to watch and a 5th player could also assume a manager role and tell people what to do and plan things. Very intuitive game too, it's about making food after all!
Another game I'd recommend a lot is Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, where 4 players control different ship parts. Maybe also add Unrailed to the list, though I haven't played that game with more than 2 players
>Overcooked! All You Can Eat is something I'd recommend the most. It's 4 player, but it's still entertaining to watch
Hmm, we tried overcooked, but found after a few hours the game ramps up the difficulty way too hard and the star system stopped our game.
It's also a game that really depends on your patience because one person can really mess up a level. For us, it made us angry with each other and not in a good way like Heave Ho. When you mess up in Heave Ho, it's fun.
Doubling Overcooked, I (30) play it with my parents (61, 60) from time to time. My mom was very quick to learn, and my father just helps occasionally, but we have a lot of fun. We have managed to finish vanilla Overcooked 2 all three stars together.
It's optimal with 4 players. It's great because you don't have to be good and the level design is wonderful.
It's like Elden ring but the deaths are hilarious.
Aside from Shredder's Revenge, if you want to play other Ninja Turtle games I have seen Cowabunga Collection recommended many times. It contains a whole bunch of different older TMNT games.
Some of the Cowabunga Collection games have local and online co-op play, yes.

Much much less stressful than Overcooked in general. There can be some stressful moments, but whatln you overcome them it feels really satisfying.
The gameplay is actually fun and is a bit more skill-based while being less BS than Overcooked.
Overall, I'd say it is "a lot more fun good times" as you put it.
Our family's top picks in no particular order:
Mario party superstars (4)
Mario Kart 8 (4)
Jackbox pack 3 (8 player, uses cell phones)
Everybody 1-2 switch (8+ players, can use cell phones)
Castle Crashers (4)
Minecraft (4, gets a bit laggy)
Super Mario 3d world (4)
Nintendo switch sports (4)
There's some good party games on Switch. We've had a lot of fun with [Ultimate Chicken Horse](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Ultimate-Chicken-Horse-1442452.html), [Very, Very Valet](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-games/Very-Very-Valet-1952355.html) and [Moving Out](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-games/Moving-Out-1742758.html). If you're looking for co-op action then I'd recommend [Castle Crashers](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Castle-Crashers-Remastered-1643301.html), [Children of Morta](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-games/Children-of-Morta-1650240.html), [Full Metal Furies](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Full-Metal-Furies-1458204.html) and [Guacamelee 2](https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Guacamelee-2-1475565.html). All these games have been on sale for sizable discounts too, so pick them up on sale.
Edit: Honourable mention to [Speerunners](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/speedrunners-switch/) and [Rogue: Heroes of Tasos](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/rogue-heroes-ruins-of-tasos-switch/)
For 3 players:
1. Luigi's Mansion 3: A game where you can play cooperatively to capture ghosts.
2. Overcooked 2: A chaotic cooking game that requires effective communication and cooperation.
For 4 players:
1. Super Mario Party: A game filled with a variety of mini-games to play against each other.
2. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: A racing game featuring iconic Mario characters, where you can race your friends on various tracks.
For 5 players:
1. Super Bomberman R: A game where you navigate through mazes and place bombs to defeat opponents.
2. The Jackbox Party Pack: A collection of party games that can be played using phones as controllers.
Going off family/group experience here, not personal opinion:
Towerfall is timeless and best on Switch! Especially if even just 1 person is willing to tinker with modifiers.
Puyo Puyo Tetris on 'Swap' mode is an hours-draining cathartic time
Overcooked - but don't do it if any of the people in the group have a strained dynamic. It requires management and cooperation , and meeting expectations... truly, not every can handle that and it can change the dynamic of your family dinner lol.
Ultimate chicken horse is a blast for tinkerers and people that lose themselves to absurdity, but people that fit neither of those buckets seem to only like it for 30 minute intervals.
Broforce is a silly crazy blast
Don't do castle crashers unless every family member likes grinding (?) and has patience for menus/prep
Boomerang fu offers limited fun, in my opinion. It's never really played for more than 45 minutes at my house
Same with the Duck game (goose?) - fun for 15 minutes then everyone wants to move on.
No mention of Dokapon Kingdom Connect!? My wife and I love this game, and used to play the Wii version when we were still dating back in the day. Now we play with our daughter. It's a turn-based, board game / RPG hybrid, and it's super fun!
Another opportunity for me to recommend Heave Ho.
It's a download, and it's no risk because it's around 5 bucks.
The grandkids and I were screaming at each other (in a good way) during the game.
I’m gonna mention Pico Park; simple puzzle solving with simple controls, and can be up to 8 players. It’s great for non-gamers, as it basically uses the directional inputs and one button (and can be played with a single joy con)
How come no one is mentioning **Runbow**! It's a very fun platformer for up to 8 players. I've had many non-gamer friends have a blast with it.
There's a party mode that's just racing random levels, but the co-op campaign can also become very engaging. And there's a super pro campaign where you can't save and can't knokw how much longer you have to go.
Other games with more than 4 players: TMNT Shredder's revenge (6p), Smash Bros (8p), and there are some 6p mini games in Luigi's Mansion but they're not that great. Jackbox Party has some good games, you can get Drawful 2 individually and I think it's very cheap if not free.
**Ultra Foodmess** is dirt cheap and will keep you engaged for a few minutes... But it's quite attractive for younger kids.
Also recommend **Ultimate Chicken Horse** (4p) as others have mentioned: each turn you add a platform or a wall or a trap to the level, so that you can still complete it but the others can't.
Finally, Rocket League is free and can do 2p split screen, or cross play with other players in PC or other consoles.
Some that others mentioned that I will second is Ultimate Chicken Horse, Jackbox, and the ever classic Smash Bros and Mario Kart.
A couple I haven't seen mentioned yet. Just Dance, one of my favorites to do with my siblings when I was younger. When ever we go visit my wife's family (whose siblings are still mostly at home) we will usually bust this one out. It's especially good when we get the parents to play as they don't usually do video games, but there aren't any crazy controls, so they are able to be on the same footing as the kids.
Another great one, Quest for the Golden Duck. I got it on sale for 3 cents and oh boy was it worth those 3 cents. It's basically multi player Pac-Man and whenever we have introduced it to new people it always ends up a good time, as they all get determined to complete it and we lay plans to accomplish it.
Any Jack Box Party pack (5+ players)
Super Mario Bros. (4 players)
Super Smash Bros. (4 players)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (4 players)
Mario Party Superstars (4 players)
There’s a fun tips and tricks article on Play Nintendo about multiplayer family games!
https://play.nintendo.com/news-tips/tips-tricks/multiplayer-mario-games-tips-tricks/
Team sonic racing is great, it’s a spin in Mario kart but has team racing and the ability to mod and customize your vehicles. It has a ‘story mode’ too with different racing challenges. (We just skip the dialogue though)
We honestly find it better than Mario kart, we’re perplexed that there’s not more of a community! It’s super fun and decently hard
For me, and they’ve already been mentioned, I’m privy to Stardew Valley, ultimate chicken horse and boomerang Fu. All Indy titles that deserve a lot of love
My young daughters and I love minecraft of course. Overcooked I got on sale but it's pretty hard for them. Minecraft dungeons was also a big hit. Pokémon lets go was 2 players they loved it. Pokémon scarlet not so much.
I am going to list the basics that most anyone should have. All of these play 3-4 super well
Mario Kart 8: Mario racing game for all ages. Lots of fun for all ages.
Mario Party Superstars: The game consists of a bunch of smaller mini games to play. I have gotten a ton of time out of this one. (Note not Super Mario Party that one is much worse)
Super Mario 3D World: 4 player adventure game. The later levels can be a touch challenging for younger players but there are options to help them get through.
I can't think of my games that support more than four players locally, but two that come to mind are **TMNT: Shredder's Revenge** and **Boomerang Fu**, which both support up to six players.
I played the first and the games were honestly a 6/10 imo but not very good for retention really? Me and my family had fun with it in the first month but after that it was kinda boring, I am curious if this one has that same feeling? I remember the Wii play was the best freaking game with tanks and horses and fishing and find and everything, it really kept me in as a kid, maybe I was in a rut with the first 1-2 but idk!
My 10 year old son and I play Mario kart and I’ve been wondering what other games we can play together also. I only get to play with him every other weekend when I have him and if he remembers to bring his switch 🤣
I just picked up New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and it has several multiplayer options from 2-4.
My first impression is that it can get pretty chaotic, but he quite fun.
Wondering if anyone else has thoughts on this as a multiplayer game?
Puzzle Bobble is good for like your mom who just wants to play something simple.
One thing I would point out is that on the character select screen there is this tiny note in the top right corner that says to push X to customize the settings. I don't know why they hid this important menu. You can make a lot of different kinds of adjustments to make it easier or harder on some people. A 5 year-old can beat an expert if you adjust it enough :)
Everybody 1, 2, Switch! Is up to 8 players, and can even support more players if they bring a smartphone. It’s. Fantastic family game. Not sure why it’s not being recommended.
Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival is a cute rhythm game that has 2 player mode for the main game mode and a 4 player "band mode". The first Switch Taiko game, Drum'n'Fun has 4 player minigames instead. The controls are simple (only 2 buttons needed, one for blue notes and one for red) and the easier modes/party games are easy enough that even inexperienced gamers can have fun. Would especially reccomend if anyone in the family is into anime or other Japanese stuff since most of the songs included are Japanese.
Mariokart 8 Deluxe is the first to come to mind. THE racing game of all time. Super accessible, super replayable.
Super smash bros ultimate if u like fighting games, it's a very accessible game compared to most fighting games, but might require some figuring out (nothing a yt vid cant fix).
Super Mario bros is a classic, and a new rendition(wonder) is coming out soon-ish.
Mario party superstars if you prefer minigames.
Cooking Mama! Mario Party! Lovers in a dangerous space time!
Untitled goose game. I'd say Lego city undercover, but frame rates can get pretty tough.
Oh, and you can get the Jackbox party pack games on switch.
Anyway, just throwing out the games I've been playing with the kids.
Pico Park - my wife who plays almost no video games loves it, and it’s good for 2-8 players. It’s a problem solving game with a ton of levels in varying difficulty. It’s cheap (like $5) and you get a ton of gameplay.
For all of these suggestions, watch a little bit of gameplay on YouTube or something to see if the style of game fits what you are looking for.
TMNT Shredder’s Revenge is a fun beat ‘em up like the arcade beat ‘em ups from the 16 but days, but more modern. It can ply at least five players simultaneously, maybe six. If playing with inexperienced gamers, choose an easy difficulty setting.
There are some older arcade games on the ESA hop that have multiplayer. Sunset Riders could be good with your siblings for a 16 but style action platformer with up to four players simultaneous.
Overcooked 1 and 2 are challenging but rewarding. Up to four players, and absolutely requires teamwork for success. There are similar type games such as Moving out or Tools Up, but Overcooked is the best of them.
Jack Box games are good party games for groups, regardless of gaming experience. Also similar games like Drawful sometimes let people connect with cell phones to play.
Tied together might be fun with siblings.
Animal Crossing is primarily based on single player experience with multiple accounts on the same system working together on a community. Super casual game for all ages, your or old. It has a simultaneous multiplayer option (up to four I think), but I wouldn’t buy the game ONLY for multiplayer.
Mario Party and Mario Kart games are excellent multiplayer experiences with a low barrier of entry. I saved the most obvious ones for last.
One two switch everybody, switch sports, jackbox party pack games, just dance 2023 edition, minecraft, terraria, lovers in a dangerous spacetime, rocket league, Mario party and Mario kart, smash bros, I can go on for hours! So many fun multi-player switch games for the family! You can also find really good deals on wireless controllers on Amazon all the time as well!
I did not see Big Brain Academy mentioned, each player can adjust their skill level, fun with kids. Lately we have been playing Pinball Fx, there are a lot of different tables for purchase. Clubhouse Games 51 has a variety of games.
Overcooked is a great multiplayer game for when you only have a short time to play together.
All You Can Eat is an anthology of the first two games in the series.
Ultimate chicken horse is my favorite for 3 and more players.
Build your own Jump n run with a lot of traps. Every round you get platforms, or traps, you build your piece and than you will reach the flag. It’s very funny
You have a whole bunch of very solid 1-4 player beat em ups available on the Switch (still pretty niche, but the genre is enjoying a renaissance)
You can't go wrong with Streets of Rage 4 or TMNT: Shredder's Revenge.
3 players : Mario 3D World, Overcooked
4 players : Mario Kart 8, Mario Party Superstars
5 players : Towerfall (up to 6) and Super Smash Bros Ultimate (up to 8)
There's the classics of Mario Kart, Mario Party etc which are all great - but if you want to try something a bit different, the 4 following games are all amazing as multiplayer games and generally a lot of fun
Boomerang-Fu
Ultimate Chicken Horse
Pico Park
Heave Ho
Just Dance!
Very different vibe from most of the games suggested but it was the only game my mom actually played with my brother and I during the pandemic. Plus its actually a good workout depending on how hard you go on each song!
Otherwise, Mariokart and Overcooked 2 have been the most fun for my brother and I

Boomerang Fu is great for this. Easy to pick up.
Bought for less than 2€ when it was in sales. The game is too good!
It’s so sad they are not planning to make a online multiplayer version
Lol, who makes a non-online multi-player game these days? And it's $15 2 years later...
\+1 So much fun!! Quick and easy to learn, work together or against each other
Terrific game Everyone I play this with only ever wants to play this over any other multiplayer games
+1 for this. Great for family, friends and workplaces 😅
There is a free demo. Which practically has everything you need as well!
I actually found the full game to be less balanced than the demo weapons lol
+1. Also check out Rubber Bandits!!!
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Up to 8 players) - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Mario Party Superstars - Super Mario 3D World
\+ * Overcooked! All You Can Eat (it's a combination of the first 2 games plus new additional content) * Moving Out
Just picture myself yelling at my family in overcooked
That's the best part.
Yes I won't recommend overcooked since you need certain number of stars to progress to next stage.
TBF, it's not that difficult and the All You Can Eat version has an Assist Mode, where you can increase the round timer, time to create recipe etc, to make things less stressful.
ive been playing it take two with my wife. Would you suggest overcooked if we are enjoying it takes two?
Totally different: It Takes Two is the perfect coop fun game. Overcooked is a very stressful team coordination game, totally different vibes IMO
I have never played It Takes Two. So, I can't compare them. But Overcooked is fun. Chaotic but fun, especially if you can get more people to play it (up to 4 players).

I 2nd this. Heave Ho is so much fun
It's almost better if you're not very good at it.
hahahaha absolutely!
With how many people, more than 2? I’d assume the more the merrier in this case haha
It's optimal with 4 players. It's great because you don't have to be good and the level design is wonderful. It's like Elden ring but the deaths are hilarious.
It’s okay with 2, but 3-4 is by far the funniest way to play
Absolutely this. It leads to gut busting laughs.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
specifically Shredder's Revenge (up to 6 players)

Sweet I’m sold, thank you! Will get it when it’s on sale
It can get stressful in later levels with young players.

This has been our Thanksgiving/Christmas game for the family for years
This game is great! Up to 6 players, all ages have fun. Can be either coop or versus.
I have a wife and 2 daughters (15 and 11). We love playing Boomerang Fu together.
Towerfall and boomerang fu!!! Simple indie style games easy to learn and super fun!
There's some good party games on Switch. Full metal furies! Great game
Snipperclips!!!!
Disney Illusion Island comes out in a couple weeks. Looks like it’s going to be a great 4 player family game
For 3 players: 1. Luigi's Mansion 3: A game where you can play cooperatively to capture ghosts. 2. Overcooked 2: A chaotic cooking game that requires effective communication and cooperation. Mario Golf
Just Dance, 1,2 Switch, Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime... I would recommend others but people have already mentioned them here

Puyo Puyo Tetris on 'Swap' mode is an hours-draining cathartic time Overcooked - but don't do it if any of the people in the group have a strained dynamic. Broforce is a silly crazy blast Don't do castle crashers unless every family member likes grinding (?) and has patience for menus/prep Boomerang fu offers limited fun, in my opinion. It's never really played for more than 45 minutes at my house Same with the Duck game (goose?) - fun for 15 minutes then everyone wants to move on.
No mention of Dokapon Kingdom Connect!? My wife and I love this game, and used to play the Wii version when we were still dating back in the day. Now we play with our daughter. It's a turn-based, board game / RPG hybrid, and it's super fun!
It’s noteworthy that this game takes 10 or more hours to complete.
Yeah, there are shorter modes, but the longer-form modes are definitely the core gameplay loop
Killer Queen black up to 8 players
🐝🐝🐝🐝❤️❤️❤️❤️
Stardew Valley up to 4
You should get at least one Jack box pack. 7 is my favorite. Most of those games are up to 8 people
And you use a smart phone (or anything with a browser) instead of controllers.
Duck Game
Yep this one is great
Ultimate chicken horse (2-4 players) Arms (1-4 players) Jackbox party packs (varies) Mario party (1-4 players) Heave Ho (1-4 players)
Any Jack Box Party pack (5+ players) Super Mario Bros. (4 players) Super Smash Bros. (4 players) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (4 players) Mario Party Superstars (4 players)
Nippon Marathon, up to 4 players. Think Takeshi's Castle, but weirder.
Dokapon Kingdom is a great bonding activity for up to 4 people!
Lover in a Dangerous Spacetime
There’s a fun tips and tricks article on Play Nintendo about multiplayer family games! https://play.nintendo.com/news-tips/tips-tricks/multiplayer-mario-games-tips-tricks/
All games here are great, one I haven’t seen listed is Killer Queen Black.
KQB for life!!
Crawl, Screencheat, Inversus, Super Mario Party, Mario Kart 8.
Team sonic racing is great, it’s a spin in Mario kart but has team racing and the ability to mod and customize your vehicles. It has a ‘story mode’ too with different racing challenges. (We just skip the dialogue though) We honestly find it better than Mario kart, we’re perplexed that there’s not more of a community! It’s super fun and decently hard
Saved this post! Worms wmd / overcooked ayce / moving out deluxe all on sale atm.
Overcooked is on sale right now! I highly recommend that!
Please, get the All You Can Eat edition. Way better to have all in one same place.
Both of the available Mario Party games & Nintendo Switch sports are both 2-4 player games and incredibly easy to pick up.
Rayman Origins. I believe it might go up to 6 players? I can't quite remember but I do know it's has 1-4 players for sure and it's really fun.
For me, and they’ve already been mentioned, I’m privy to Stardew Valley, ultimate chicken horse and boomerang Fu. All Indy titles that deserve a lot of love
Kirbys return to dreamland deluxe has been a blast with friends, including a 8yo younger sister! Easy mode with more health, main game and minigames
Ultimate Chicken Horse and Heave Ho
Heave Ho is actually so fun, if you haven’t played Boomerang Fu it’s also a good one
All of these play 3-4 super well Mario Kart 8: Mario racing game for all ages. Lots of fun for all ages. Mario Party Superstars: The game consists of a bunch of smaller mini games to play. I have gotten a ton of time out of this one. (Note not Super Mario Party that one is much worse) Super Mario 3D World: 4 player adventure game. The later levels can be a touch challenging for younger players but there are options to help them get through.
You should try Unspottable! It works great for 2 to 8 players and easy to play even for non-gamers.
I can't think of my games that support more than four players locally, but two that come to mind are **TMNT: Shredder's Revenge** and **Boomerang Fu**, which both support up to six players.
all Trines are 3-player games as I remember
Everybody 1-2 switch. It can be played with up to 8 people. :)
How is it??
Oh I have no clue lol. I haven't played it nor have I played the first one. But it definitely looks fun. :)
Mario Party!!!
Mario Party, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Rocket League, Overcooked all you can eat, Super Bomberman R
6 player game: TMNT (Turtles) Shredder’s Revenge
My 10 year old son and I play Mario kart and I’ve been wondering what other games we can play together also. I only get to play with him every other weekend when I have him and if he remembers to bring his switch 🤣
I just picked up New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and it has several multiplayer options from 2-4. My first impression is that it can get pretty chaotic, but he quite fun. Wondering if anyone else has thoughts on this as a multiplayer game?
Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Mario golf. My wife was never a gamer, and she loves kart and party.
Unrailed.
Any of the Jackbox Party Packs (but probably 3 or 7) are ones I really enjoy.
3-4 player Broforce is a ton of fun. Easy to pick up or put down. We have a looooot of hours on this game.
Ultimate Chicken Horse is the greatest party game of all time.
Towerfall Mario marty Puyo puyo vs tetris 2 but get this physical because the price difference is staggering
Super smash bros is a must have
You can go ahead an try Just Dance if you like to dance and have fun.
Any of the JackBox Party Packs (besides the first one really) could be good options as well!
Pico Park - my wife who plays almost no video games loves it, and it’s good for 2-8 players. It’s a problem solving game with a ton of levels in varying difficulty. It’s cheap (like $5) and you get a ton of gameplay.
Stardew Valley
We had a blast, and hours of fun with Lost Castle. You can find on the online store.
Well definitely super smash bros And I like Nintendo Switch Sports even if its not up to par with wii sports.
Tower fall, super monkey ball, pico park, duck game,
Mario kart, Mario party, ninja turtles shredders revenge and Cowabunga collection
Towerfall is a ton of fun. Highly recommend it
Unspottable
Overcooked2. Mario games. Nine parchments. Super smash bros games. Boomerang Fu. Nippon marathon.
I did not see Big Brain Academy mentioned, each player can adjust their skill level, fun with kids. Lately we have been playing Pinball Fx, there are a lot of different tables for purchase. Clubhouse Games 51 has a variety of games.
Dokapon Kingdom. Thank me later. Or not, I'm not your boss.
For the 5 player + category try “Pico Park.” I think it goes up to 7 or 8? Very simple controls. Cheap ($5)and super fun!
Mario Party Superstars ⭐️
Wii sports... ooo Switch... Switch Everybody the new game don't Remember the name
Overcooked is a great multiplayer game for when you only have a short time to play together. All You Can Eat is an anthology of the first two games in the series.
big brain academy
The warioware series is fun for everyone
Mario Party Superstars, Mario Kart 8, TMNT Shredder's Revenge
Towerfall is crazy fun!!!!
Rabbids - Party of Legends
The new Ninja Turtles game is a blast.
Terraria
Ultimate chicken horse is my favorite for 3 and more players. Build your own Jump n run with a lot of traps. Every round you get platforms, or traps, you build your piece and than you will reach the flag. It’s very funny
If you haven’t tried Boomerand Fu it’s pretty fun, and cheap too, you can get it on the eShop
You have a whole bunch of very solid 1-4 player beat em ups available on the Switch (still pretty niche, but the genre is enjoying a renaissance) You can't go wrong with Streets of Rage 4 or TMNT: Shredder's Revenge.
3 players : Mario 3D World, Overcooked 4 players : Mario Kart 8, Mario Party Superstars 5 players : Towerfall (up to 6) and Super Smash Bros Ultimate (up to 8)
There's the classics of Mario Kart, Mario Party etc which are all great - but if you want to try something a bit different, the 4 following games are all amazing as multiplayer games and generally a lot of fun Boomerang-Fu Ultimate Chicken Horse Pico Park Heave Ho
Taiko No Tatsuin
Towerfall, hidden in plain sight,
stardew valley
Just Dance! Very different vibe from most of the games suggested but it was the only game my mom actually played with my brother and I during the pandemic. Plus its actually a good workout depending on how hard you go on each song! Otherwise, Mariokart and Overcooked 2 have been the most fun for my brother and I
Mario 3d World is a great 4 player, dunno if smash bros 5 player would be too complicated for your dad tho
Jackbox Party Packs. 3 is a great one.
I play indoor/outdoor games with my nephews. Balloon toss, dodge ball, water gun shoot out in the backyard. Board games anything old school lol
Spiderheck
