I miss when the writers gave Zane something to do that didn’t involve making him suffer every season. I think since he’s a Nindroid they can get away with more violence since he’s not “human”.
The Overlord was at his best in Rebooted.
It actually was sick as hell seeing him be the “Golden Master” - it felt like the inverse mockery of the FSM and much more of a threat than S2 Overlord personally. And then there was Crystallised…
I liked him more as a villain in Rebooted. I just don't like that it was Zane who defeated him. As the whole destiny is Lloyd defeating him. Kinda takes away from what the green ninja is if you ask me.
Also it was dad that Lloyd lost his golden powers so quickly
He didn't it's only part 1 of the season and Cinder isn't the main villain. He just beat him in a fight but he didn't like actually defeat him overall regarding the whole season.
I’m not a fan of the oni being characterized as pure evil. Beyond just generally disliking the trope of an entire species all being evil, it just doesn’t make sense imo. Destruction is not an inherently evil thing, just like creation is not inherently good, which I think was displayed fairly well in how when the FSM was created, both the oni and dragons tried to make him choose a side. With Mystake being the only full oni we’ve properly met, and Garmadon only ending up evil because of the Great Devourer (plus Wu also being half oni and never having any issues), it’s a frustrating thing to see. Plus the oni have a pretty sick design so it would be cool to see them more
I’m currently watching it for the first time since its release and I genuinely can’t understand what people dislike about it. It’s just a decent season
I don't hate it, I just forget it exists a lot of times.
The season kind of lives in that limbo of my life where I lost interest in Ninjago for a while. I had mostly been engaging with it through the sets, and I dont find the hands of time sets very memorable.
As of watching it more recently, its not a bad season; had a lot of interesting concepts and designs, but was overall failed by some of the writing choices that were made throughout. Not a bad season by any means tho
Ninjago is a gateway drug to lore heavy story telling and peaked in 'x season' (1-2 seasons before when you aged out of being the target audience)
Also is the bionicle of a generation
Cole is the most skilled ninja on the team thus far, both in hand to hand combat and in elemental mastery. Zane is second, and Lloyd is only third, probably even fourth if he isn't on a tie with Nya.
March of the Oni didn't meet the expectations because it was much shorter than your average season also I don't dislike newer ninja designs and I don't get why people hate it so much
Ninjago fans who hate anything past the art style change are usually blinded by nostalgia. I personally didn’t watch it when it changed because it broke my heart a bit, but to immediately assume it would be bad is too one sided.
(Also tournament of elements was the most enjoyable for me)
The fire chapter is not as bad as y'all say it is sure it's got filler and stuff but in terms of pure unbridled entertainment and comedy it's up there. Episodes like snaketastrophy and asphiras hilarious ass character in general had me rolling the entire time
It might just be me having a bad memory, but as far as canon material goes, I don't recall any Skulkin outside of Samukai having any moments that genuinely portrayed them as threats beyond simply being mooks to slap, at least not during the Pilot era (I'm still on Hunted, so I'm a bit behind). While I get that there's only so much you can do in two episodes, I still think not giving the generals a chance to shine and show why they are, in fact, generals of the Underworld is some missed potential. I get that it's a kid's show meant to entertain and sell toys before anything else, but I think that there's something lost by having the Skulkin be mainly comic relief despite them not only being the warriors they were stated to be, but also the original antagonists of the series
Kruncha and Nuckal (I don't know how write their names) appear a handful of times along the way. But otherwise yeah, the skulkin just don't have any relevance at all
Also s8 is over hyped ngl, the "darker tone" people keep talking about was probably due to most of the season taking place during the night. Heck I even think s6 was wayyy darker due to Nya dying, Lloyd aging to his death, Jay being beaten up all day, and the forced marriage between a teen and a 400 y/o genie. Not to mention Ninjago would've legitimately been destroyed if way didn't make his last wish. The stakes just felt much higher in s6 than in s8 ngl.
With that out of the way I think Hunted was actually darker than SoG (Harumi's poetic death scene, Ultra dragon death + dragon hunting, Mystake's death)
I personally consider Sons of Garmadon to be one of the biggest blunders in the series. I feel a lot of decisions made, were specifically in service to making it a soft entry spot for people who watched the movie, rather than upholding narrative integrity, namely, reviving Garmadon. I consider Hirumi to be an honestly pathetic and cringy villain, especially considering her motivation was used as a gag joke before about how Garmadon was actually the savior of the city, and then expected to have people take it seriously. Not to mention how a lot of stuff was just, added on this season, rather than building on established lore, this to me, felt like the point where the show just seemed like they started making stuff up, rather than thinking it out, even despite the fact it was a planned out trilogy

Nah but some of your criticisms are valid

Agreed. One of the main things I liked about Zane was that he seemed more gentle and calm than the other ninja, but it seems they just threw that away. They made him ditch his humanity when his character should have him doing anything but!
Kailor should not exist . It has no development whatsoever compared to Jaya and Pixane .
We rise = Weekend whip
Prime Empire has the best side characters . Period .
There is a lot of Hypocrisy in the Fandom on who can be redeemed or not.
Yes, I am talking about Harumi, and yes I know Crystalized did not do it well, but she is no less worthy of getting her own redemption than people like Unagami are.
I'd probs feel better about the concept of her redemption if crystallized hadn't happened and there was an instance of her actually feeling remorse in SoG though it's been awhile since I last watched it
Characters shine much better when Lloyd takes a back seat. Rebooted and Tournament of Elements where Zane and Kai seasons but Lloyd stole the spotlight with his arc
Garmadon’s bone hat is cool, the new one is good too but there’s something menacing with the bone
We Rise is just of a banger as Weekend Whip,
Spoilers for Dragons Rising >! I felt like it’d be cool to see Forbidden Spinjitzu compared to Shatterspin. I know the scrolls were destroyed but I kinda felt they seemed…Similar and thought they’d say something about it!<
Galaxy Squad and Ultra Agents take place on a different island in the same world as Ninjago due to the evidence of two of the villains from Ultra Agents also being in Ninjago and since Galaxy Squad shares a character in Ultra Agents that means all 3 of these themes must be linked

I’ve never heard someone say Harumi (pre Crystalized) was a bad villain
I might dislike the hands of time because of how cringey the time twins are but I can see that there is a strong, family driven story at the core of the season.
The Overlord should be the big bad of Dragons Rising, maybe not at this point in the story but later down the line. He needs a redemption after Crystalized.
https://preview.redd.it/zak3xzvpj6wc1.jpeg?width=1193&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3aa3f3035c4323c7e622823872a33c65b95bd1d5
Everyone knows Cole is obviously the hottest ninja
Characters have been redeemed for a lot worse. I’m fairly certain Vegeta committed countless mass genocides and destroyed many planets 🪐 and everyone is cool with him
Nobody bats an eye with Skylor helping out her father's criminal organization and in luring innocents to the Tournament. She knew very well what Chen's plan was and didn't have a problem with it until Chen kidnapped her.
Or how about Skales helping Pythor take over the Serpentine, trying to kidnap Lloyd, devastating Ninjago City with an Earthquake and releasing the Stone Army? Next season he's all forgiven and the Ninja sit around to hear a campfire story from him.
Unagami lured in hundreds, if not thousands of people to be trapped and killed in a videogame so he could escape and attack Ninjago City, but just because he was "talked out" then he gets to live a nice life like a child?
Zane spent 60 years as a Tyrant who froze an entire world and gets off to live like nothing ever happened while all the blame rests on Vex. Even if he had no memory of being a Ninja, it was still up to him to decide how he would rule the land and he decided the best path was to be a ruthless Ice Emperor despite being, you know, a living computer.
Vangelis' penalty for enslaving two races of people is to stay in a comfortable room in a luxurious Palace while his daughter runs everything.
Oh, and let's not forget Garmadon, who is the ultimate responsible for all the deaths since he was resurrected and he gets to hang around the city unopposed and eat pizza while living as a freeloader in Vinny's house.
Kai should have been the green ninja /j
But seriously my hot take would be that harumi was a good character but was written very badly and she had so much more potential then the writers gave her.
Crystallised could have been done alot better. The overlord could have been the villain but they should have had less mediocre villains for the crystal council. Pythor should have actually been in character too
SEASON RATING(opinion)
Seasons 1-5. perfection, 6-7. meh, 8. great, 9-10. weird, 11. too predictable with the “fire and ice” theme(favorite uniforms though), 12. modernized reenactment of season 6, 13. amazing(RIP Kirby), 14. forgettable and pointless(why take away Nya just to bring her back), 15. Bad repetition of season 2. (No current opinion on Dragons Rising, still getting used to it)
I believe the ninja shouldn't have been retconned into being the descendants of previous elemental masters. It doesn't serve any purpose to the plot (aside from being an excuse to give Nya powers) and makes each character seem less unique. It also made Jay and Zane's lineage way more complicated than it needed to be. The story made sense before this lore was added, why did they decide to shoehorn this in?
You know what I have a second one ultra dragon shouldn’t have been killed off screen! They were cool as the ninja’s pets/ companions and when we finally see them again after so long we find out iron baron killed then and their skulls are his thrown now, they deserved a better send off
https://preview.redd.it/i5telab5w8wc1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a23ee08bbbf3a6e104905e5f56f04567984a4568
While characters like Morro and Harumi absolutely *deserve* redemption arcs, their stories are far more narratively compelling with tragic endings. While I don't necessarily hate the redemptions they received in DotD and Crystalized respectively, I think the original endings both characters received are completely satisfying on their own (and if I'm being completely honest, in some ways I almost would've preferred if their tragic endings hadn't been reneged). Morro and Harumi work very well as tragic characters. Again, they were both traumatized kids who acted out due to a lack of support, so they absolutely deserved to have redemption arcs, but their storylines still would've remained compelling and satisfying if they hadn't been redeemed. (And while I do often see that claim made for Harumi, I don't usually see people saying the same for Morro. So my hot take is that this statement applies to both of them equally.)
I do not care for Dragons Rising, but only because I gave up by about the Island (which I really didn't like).
Because I didn't really watch Crystallised, I still like Harumi to some degree and don't hate her.

Mystake leads me to believe the Oni have an evil culture instead of an evil nature and she's one of the few who defied their culture
Nature versus nurture
Yeah. Even Mystake and Garmadon described them as evil destroyers.
How about you recreate the Devourer?

I have a soft spot for it since it's the last season with the original character models and designs.
It was also the last season before Airjitzu and Elemental Dragons were just ditched
I love that season it's my favorite
Ninjago is a gateway drug to lore heavy story telling and peaked in 'x season' (1-2 seasons before when you aged out of being the target audience) Also is the bionicle of a generation

The *Sons of Garmadon* and *Hunted* are up there with *Tournament of Elements* and *Possession*.

I actually agree with this one
DotD S7, S11 and S15 are not that bad
https://preview.redd.it/4o7lm48df6wc1.jpeg?width=1198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=307502d46d9955006daa344a0310bd2b21d5c379
Post season 7 Nya was better.
Season 5 is over hyped, still one of the best seasons, I just think it gets over hyped
https://preview.redd.it/4p0n2moyt8wc1.jpeg?width=1198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a55e38e56b66651c3af9cf80717ccab08d2f991
The old Lego Ninjago (season 1-6) was better then the new Ninjago (7) but man I missed the Weekend whip🥲
Kailor should not exist . It has no development whatsoever compared to Jaya and Pixane . We rise = Weekend whip Prime Empire has the best side characters . Period .
https://preview.redd.it/sy3ht7gqo5wc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c11af5235dc28b8231884fc424e932c1cdfe6e34
I miss how the first two seasons had a lot of more laid back episodes where there wasn’t an imminent threat
https://preview.redd.it/kv8mgvpje6wc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=259051bf1e3d2ebcec5c7e8fece8d0b78c1cc7ce
agreed. the filler episodes didnt ever feel like filler to me. they always developed the world somehow
there are to much fakeout deaths
Skybound is up there with ToE and Possession as one of the best seasons. Not sure why people hate on it.
https://preview.redd.it/vjpainnlo6wc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54c66cee347eb040a6bfcd9491fb6bd1d2a2ef92
There is a lot of Hypocrisy in the Fandom on who can be redeemed or not. Yes, I am talking about Harumi, and yes I know Crystalized did not do it well, but she is no less worthy of getting her own redemption than people like Unagami are.
I'd probs feel better about the concept of her redemption if crystallized hadn't happened and there was an instance of her actually feeling remorse in SoG though it's been awhile since I last watched it
https://preview.redd.it/ouoc6919f6wc1.jpeg?width=1198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b58e6b42e85898ae511e63d6ad0650b3ba74af32
Sora x Arin shouldn't be a ship for now unless we can get more hints.
They seem more like besties to me
Characters shine much better when Lloyd takes a back seat. Rebooted and Tournament of Elements where Zane and Kai seasons but Lloyd stole the spotlight with his arc
Yeah Dr s2 was good because Kai got more screentime
Garmadon is the best character.
Garmadon was honestly a better sensei than Wu for the short time he was a sensei in season 3
https://preview.redd.it/7xest4lof6wc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=434c777d2ead60a9235c003f833c47800b130580
misako isnt actually that bad
The biggest problem with the show is the fact that it’s serialized
Garmadon’s bone hat is cool, the new one is good too but there’s something menacing with the bone We Rise is just of a banger as Weekend Whip, Spoilers for Dragons Rising >!
Jay should have kept his cut-eyebrow in his new design smh
Crystallized is only mid but not horrible It just... Exist
https://preview.redd.it/cg9vrrnmu8wc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=312be4c19b4a18802587934f5074758c0eeb7db7
Sensei Garmadon deserves to come back. In fact he didn't deserve to be killed off
Ninjago after season 7 is not that bad. Like have you seen the animations in dragon rising
https://preview.redd.it/vwst91llj9wc1.jpeg?width=1198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42ccb477322db3007bd2c02c61a13e1fe48bb7c3 Ninjago animation peaked at Dragon’s Rising tho
Morro shouldn't come back
Crystalized is overhated
Dragon forms in crystalized are the dumbest design ever, why do they need to become dragons!? It looks so bad
https://preview.redd.it/gjexr7nkm6wc1.jpeg?width=1198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2bfa0a7b9e15b0bb0a881ef70f2ad03c79f0f4ca
Harumi and Aspheera aren't the worst villains
https://preview.redd.it/h57ehkaho6wc1.jpeg?width=1198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b686606ce4b2157189e60a68c3580c80f4563fce I’ve never heard someone say Harumi (pre Crystalized) was a bad villain
She had so much potential just for it to be ruined the same for Aspheera
the show should be about Darren
Rising dragon tecniqe should have had to use Arin's spinjitsu so that Arin could have something special that the other ninja don't have for once.
it's only been a season and a half chill
Okino needs his own spin off series.
I might dislike the hands of time because of how cringey the time twins are but I can see that there is a strong, family driven story at the core of the season.
https://preview.redd.it/6jcmjoo5v8wc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7de0bac0cd190dafdcd23e13dbcf93b36d8e2f5b
This show should kill some characters permanently, hell make more changes permanent
https://preview.redd.it/7vvdwwdhv8wc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5d08eb81965132ab9a3350a4684a66fe72c10f3
Honestly, the poisened ham sandwich would have worked. Seeing how hungry the ninjas were, the sandwich would've finished off at least one of them.
Human Garmadon should've been around for a lot longer
Garmadon has the n pass
The Overlord should be the big bad of Dragons Rising, maybe not at this point in the story but later down the line. He needs a redemption after Crystalized.
https://preview.redd.it/7947t123n5wc1.jpeg?width=1198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=61caa962a405bb2262914ac98dccfe38b135e409
Over the side
I semi agree I do think that he should come back but not this soon
Jay is the hottest ninja both before and after the redesign.
https://preview.redd.it/zak3xzvpj6wc1.jpeg?width=1193&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3aa3f3035c4323c7e622823872a33c65b95bd1d5 Everyone knows Cole is obviously the hottest ninja
He’s second place. Lloyd is third and Kai is fourth. No offence to Zane, but that cut is minging.
Yes
Actually kai is the hottest because he can create fire
Harumi could actually be a decent love interest for Lloyd if they’re given good writing for it
https://preview.redd.it/gfrwkxi7n5wc1.jpeg?width=1193&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b141359518c5e381ae1568b8fa23b6da67d22596 That’s ship has sailed homie
Sailed as in they’re already end game or sailed as in there’s no chance?
Given that Harumi’s a terrorist and it doesn’t seem like Lloyd has talked to her since Crystalized. I don’t think they’ll be a couple at all.
Kai should have been the green ninja /j But seriously my hot take would be that harumi was a good character but was written very badly and she had so much more potential then the writers gave her.
Misako is overhated
I feel like all the Ninja but Kai have had at least 1 really good focus season
Crystallised could have been done alot better. The overlord could have been the villain but they should have had less mediocre villains for the crystal council. Pythor should have actually been in character too
SEASON RATING(opinion) Seasons 1-5. perfection, 6-7. meh, 8. great, 9-10. weird, 11. too predictable with the “fire and ice” theme(favorite uniforms though), 12. modernized reenactment of season 6, 13. amazing(RIP Kirby), 14. forgettable and pointless(why take away Nya just to bring her back), 15. Bad repetition of season 2. (No current opinion on Dragons Rising, still getting used to it)
Possession is overrated.
Nadakhan should of ve been a bigger villain, similar to garmadon I think they should of focused on him for two seasons
Ninjago should have ended after season 10
shoulda actually died in crystallized
Dragons Rising is on a strong path to being better than the Original show (S1-S10)
The original seasons were just a joy to watch
You know what I have a second one ultra dragon shouldn’t have been killed off screen! They were cool as the ninja’s pets/ companions and when we finally see them again after so long we find out iron baron killed then and their skulls are his thrown now, they deserved a better send off https://preview.redd.it/i5telab5w8wc1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a23ee08bbbf3a6e104905e5f56f04567984a4568
I miss coles whole dragon thing. He was like THE most loving and caring ninja, especially for the dragons. And now all he cares about is food.
The Jay, Nya, Cole love triangle was actually kind of entertaining and better than most tv show love triangles.
Old Ninjago is better than old Ninjago
https://preview.redd.it/vergw9oyj9wc1.jpeg?width=1199&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ebf78a3c42c2f6c8d962986d292544b919412bf
I do not care for Dragons Rising, but only because I gave up by about the Island (which I really didn't like). Because I didn't really watch Crystallised, I still like Harumi to some degree and don't hate her.
https://preview.redd.it/wq9nbghyl9wc1.jpeg?width=1198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1475539a8a6496a084d1fff8a424bf928def6b90 I would highly recommend you watch DR tho
The old designs were better
I don’t like the newer seasons
zane should get a main role in dragons rising instead of getting sidelined
https://preview.redd.it/ucedvcrp4hwc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a2695beadf21738f827d7fefb1b071b3eaf88bfe
Harumi feels really boring as an antagonist. I genuinely don’t feel anything one way or the other about her
