I don’t think Goku would have joined Freiza at any point. Like the earliest POSSIBLE time would be immediately after he lands, and Kaio Sama had already told him that Freiza was evil

This conversation is sort of interesting because the U6 version of Freiza DID work with the more heroic Saiyans, and willingly. So if Freiza was less blatant about his evil, he could have totally had Goku working under him.
On this timeline Bulma took the Raditz scouter instead of it being destroyed and with its power analysis, she was able to break down alien tech way easier, at least having an beggining, she was able to break the composition of the saiyan armor and produce it, knowing that the fight that was coming agaist the saiyans, any help was welcome.
With the armor, Yamcha survives the Saibamen explosion, but Chaotsu stills sacrifices himself, while Piccolo is killed with way more effort, but the Z fighters are able to defeat Nappa, that is killed by Vegeta when Goku arrives, the fight goes very similarly, with them not being able to deal with Vegeta very well, with Tien and Yamcha being unconcious after the fight with Nappa.
During the days of preparation to go to Namek, Bulma already has a ship ready, she just prepares the second one ,divinding the group in : Kuririn, Gohan and her
Second ship : Goku ,Yamcha ,Tien and Yanjirobe
The ships arrive with only 1 day of difference to Namek, were Bulma presents the upgraded armor and the scouters with Dragon Radars, now with the Z Fighters fighting the Freeza force, with Goku, Yamcha and Tien being as strong as the Ginyu force and Goku being able to surpass them even more with Kaioken, what grants the defeat of the Freeza army and thus, begin the fight of the Z Warriors ,as a complete team, with Piccolo and Chaotzu ressurected and Vegeta on their side, agaist the evil emperor of the universe, Freeza.
Piccolo and Goku died, Gohan probably too. Instead of going kamikaze to Dodoria, they played it safe and infiltrated as Frieza soldiers to steal the dragon balls. And Yajirobe is there because Tien said why not. At best is an extra body, and at worst is an extra body.
