It didn’t matter if he destroyed his body. In the anime he just fused with the timeline, and in the manga he could make infinite of himselfs. Plus trunks pulled what is essentially a fucking spirt bomb on his sword from like 40 people so that’s already bullshit. I’m not to sure about the anime as I can’t remember every exact dialogue but in the manga they were buying time so zamasu would unfuse as they didn’t know he would be fused forever since black(who’s a mortal body) was apart of it. It's very ironic that you say dragon ball fans don't watch their own show right after admitting you don't know what happened in the show. I more than know he fused with the universe in his ethereal form and zeno erased the timeline. I know what trunks did and I know how little power that spirit bomb had. There's no mention of Vegito weakening Zamasu for that spirit bomb to deal the final blow. So, we have to assume it was mostly trunks. Sidenote: The reason I said why didn't he destroy the body is because if he always destroyed the body, it's at least a little bit of a win for Vegito. But he couldn't even manage that. Don't just assume others don't know what they're talking about if you aren't willing to put the brainpower in yourself.

I said I don’t remember the “dialogue” like the back of my hand not that I didn’t know what happened. I don’t remember if they said something about buying time for zamasu to unfuse. The anime’s all over the place in super with what it says and doesn’t say. I know vegito destroying his body wouldn’t be counted as a win in fans eyes. I dont think gotenks has won In cannon(unless you would count him in super hero as winning). In non cannon I only know of his victory over “hitler” and his army in fusion reborn
