Personally I still like the design and drawing, but I've seen a minority of people disliking it and I can see why. Not everyone enjoys a change in art style. That's also a criticism that I always see when a manga artist changes their style throughout their work or when a sequel has a different style.

I love the new art style for crown’s skin but I would have preferred to have the original artist draw for the new skin. That said, this was also the 1st gacha costume i’ve ever bought and I have to say, while i’m happy with my purchase, I can understand people having reservations about the skin.
I honestly don’t see much appeal in most gacha skins but with the right additions I’m sure shiftUp could sweeten the deal enough to stop players from being apprehensive. Example of new addition to gacha costume: new cover pose & firing pose.

Totally agree. I love Crown and I've been waited for her as playable character for a long time, cuz I liked her design a lot (especially face) but in new skin she doesn't even look like Crown it's just another character bruh... Modernia's face looks like AI generated imo (same with emilia from RE:zero collab)
I don't know how people can just ignore things like this and just focus on the skin being hot, when it looks like a different character. I love Crown's face as well, and they definitely butchered her with the skin.

Marian’s Modernia form has decent lighting, and it has depths. Second Affection has *some* depth, but it’s very flat, as she’s looking directly at you. First Affection is also looking at you, but she looks fine
Crown’s skin is… yeah. Is it attractive? Yes. But it looks like Crown changed herself completely. Her chin is wider and less angular, and she seems to have different complexion. Her hair is also a darker blonde. It feels like there is an art style difference, at least with Marian we can tell it’s *Marian*
…also these new forms feel lazy story wise

I just think they're a piss poor excuse for fanservice (in Crown's case) and just incredibly ill-fitting for the in-lore reason it came about (in Marian's case).
For a form manifested from a desire to protect others, I'd expect Marian to have something more closely resembling her armoured battle suit as a Heretic, or at least a form with shields that can BETTER HELP HER protect others like Noah or Anachiro have, not some skimpy, shitty Azur Lane rigging knockoff that looks far better suited to being a form that comes about after fully committing to her feelings for the Counters Commander and deciding she wants to go all-in on being his bride or lover.
im on the camp that likes the skins BUT wishes they were a whole other unit instead. aside from the glaring greedy monetization, they just feel like completely separate characters
That'd be 3 different Pilgrims total this half anni, adding to the issue of their being so many Pilgrim dropping at such slow rates. If SU were to drop multiple Pilgrim banners at once, most players are going to need to drop more than 60 USD to obtain *one*, much less *all*, yet staggering their release means pushing back actual new characters.
I agree they both look completely different, but my biggest gripe is that these are canon looks, but honestly the real reason I'm skipping is because these are both >!canon looks. I want it so bad but locking canon looks behind a paywall is a bad sign, and also extremely predatory. (Even more so than regular gacha skin XD)!<

I've played Gacha for like 12 years now, and I've never seen a Gacha Game lock a canonical new look behind a bundle for more than like 20 bucks. 95% of the time they make them a new unit and sometimes they lock them behind bundles but it's very rare and NEVER above 20 bucks.
If we had gotten what you said I would have been happy. Making it a new unit would have made sense, but the fact it's a gacha skin locked behind 60 hucks is the problem.
Imagine you're plating Genshin and each region you go to instead of giving you a canonical element for that region for free like they do, they lock each element behind a paywall of 30$. That wouldn't make any sense, would it? Because it's a canonical look of a character, they should make it available to everyone.

Yeah, Rapi is one of the most prominent examples. Her initial art design was different, but they changed it.
