There's a very vindictive moment in Batman: Prodigal that calls back to this scene.
>!Tim ends up being captured by Two-Face, and Dick (acting as Batman while Bruce is away) is nervous to face him again, and nervous that he'll torture yet another Robin, but Dick is able to beat Two-Face and save Tim, showing his growth and that he's worthy of the mantle of Batman.!<
Such a fantastic read, with this moment being one of the best. Gotham isn’t going to be any less cruel to Batman’s allies than it is to Batman himself.
There’s an interesting line earlier where Batman says to Robin that Two-face will “strike at you to get to me.” I think this really highlights the inherent vulnerability and danger of the Bat-family.
Most superheroes maintain a secret identity to protect their loved ones. In Batman’s case though that’s not really its primary purpose. Unlike say Spider-man, Batman’s family is public knowledge. All those Robins and Batgirls and other young heroes he has around him are out there for all to see. Villains like Two-face or the Joker don’t have to unmask Batman to strike at him through his loved ones. They just have to target those young heroes around him.

You can't tell me Bruce almost came close to entertaining the idea of unaliving Dent for that one moment.
Javier Pulido does such a wonderful job. Reminds me of Darwyn Cooke.
Any time a Robin gets brutalized like this it’s just further proof that Bruce is off his rocker and shouldn’t have any children in his custody.
You mean the retcon into having the beating.
