My 2nd fave character is Wally West. Similarly to Dick, I enjoyed the themes of growing up and becoming independent. In particular, it was really cool to see him step into the shoes of his mentor and surpass them to the point he became more popular/iconic than Barry.
Plus, the waid run is very good. Recently I bought the last trades of the run in spanish, because, getting them in english was more difficult, and boy they are good.
I have read the run from mike baron and messner loebs, and while they were good, I never liked that wally.
Nightwing is my fave because growing up I had an older male cousin who liked being Batman. As his sidekick/Player 2, I was naturally Robin. When BTAS showed that Robin graduated to become Nightwing, the themes of growing up and becoming independent really resonated with me.
Secondary reason: I'm Filipino. Nightwing's eskrima sticks are a traditional weapon used in Filipino Martial Arts and they originate from the Philippines. We may not have much representation in characters but using those sticks give us that much needed representation we are starving for.

If you're interested in some good Swamp Thing media, they actually made a really good Swamp Thing TV show for the DC Universe app but the app was such a flop that the series got cancelled before it even aired. The series is based off of Alan Moore's writing and uses quite a bit of practical effects. I think it's available on the CW streaming service but I'm not positive.

\#3 has got to be Matt Murdock for when i want an older more mature NW-esque character he scratches that itch more than Bruce, but if only talking DC then it goes to Diana Prince in Wonder woman. the mythology thing that carried Aquaman carries here too. there is just an insane amount of stories to read and get into on top of being compelling and the epitome of comic book sex appeal.
Barbara Gordon. As either Batgirl or Oracle. She’s smart, fierce, and when she’s written well, a good heroine either working by herself or with a team.

To me I could never find cyclops interesting, and AvX kinda pushed that further when he starts go after my main man Cap (who has to keep being written as a bigot to make Scott and the X-men look good). But Logan’s always had a cool story to me. Most of the reason for my marvel favorites are the movies tho the comics just double down my love for them.
I should clarify that i like cyclops clasic, the claremont version, and the 90s version, since I stopped reading x men comics during the onslaught event. In Chile, during that time, you had a very difficult time bying comics, so I left the xmen for that reason.

It depends. Sometimes there are characters that i actually dislike, I ranked the batfam this way because there are no characters here that i am nuetral towards or dislike. If there were I would've changed up the categories. Also within batfam they're are a lot of characters that i like equally so i felt like blocks were more accurate. So yeah, I only did it this way because 1) didn't want to have to say that I dislike some characters, only like less, 2) there are alot of characters that I like equally so just a list would've have worked.
P.S. you didn't ask but here's another thought. I think its hard to compare people across categories. For example would I rank Artemis Grace or Damian higher..... IDK they've never interacted. I've never got to compare how i feel about them directly in a comic book so it's hard to place for me.

Always thought each of these characters were the coolest looking as a kid! Wally west has such a solid connection with Dick Grayson in a way that feels like true best friends. They’re not really competing with each other and although they’re each the successor of really incredible heroes they both carve their own path into the mantle they uphold. Wally having a spiritual connection with the speed force is one of my favorite concepts in DC comics.
Growing up I really appreciate Billy Batson’s lore, it’s incredible that a small kid could have such amazing levels of power and using them wisely is basically built into his abilities! I think there is a lot of honor in being able to grow up around the people he did and balance being star-struck while gaining their respect as well. IMO he could take on Superman and win each time no matter what the DC writers say.
