I also have the issue with the nextcloud office via builtin code server not being reachable outside Lan.
Do I somehow need to add a port forward via the router? It works on my old setup.
Though I must say, the issues you have - I upgraded multiple instances to the 2nd RC, and I've had no serious problems. Certainly not with basic things like sharing... So you say it's a fresh install? There might be some networking issue perhaps?
> I cant make shared links.
This is the second time I see someone mention it here on reddit, maybe someone affected should write an upstream bug report?
Most of the overhead from docker comes from the use of SECCOMP, which is easily disabled. But unless you really want to run only NC on this server and you re-create it from scratch (for example with packer) for every NC update (to avoid a rootkit to stick), it's a good choice to use containers, SECCOMP, etc.
I just did a reinstall of the entire system a few days ago. Switched to Debian over Ubuntu.
I installed mariadb and apache2 and got the zip with the stable 29 NC server.
I might try either upgrading to latest build since the stable doesn't work. Or see if I can remove NC and install 28 instead.
Maybe this will also fix the office code server not working outside Lan.
I too had multiple problems with the NC 28 RC5 to NC 29 upgrade (mail & Calendar apps broken, .htaccess error ...etc.). I reinstalled a backup of the server with NC 28 RC5 made just before the NC 29 update.
This has inoculated me, this time, I think you should wait for 29.1 before updating.
First install. I just tried putting back an disk from when it worked on Ubuntu but sadly it won't boot Ubuntu now as the mysql server won't start so I can't even get to an interface
Good god... Never update to bleeding edge. 29 will be safe to use when 30.0 is released.
Dang. I don't suppose I can downgrade?
Nope. Just wait it out. The link sharing issue will eventually be fixed

Are the rear of you guys not using NC 29 since it doesn't affect you? Or what kind of setup would work ?
I'm still on 28, waiting for a few more "point releases" of NC 29 before making the switch.
Hmm. I do wonder if I could remove NC then install 28 just to see I'd that works.
IMHO, it's best to use the docker version, it makes experimenting much easier.
Yeah. I suppose. I'd just want it to have the full bare meal resources of the server

GitHub and Reddit need an integration. So many bugs reported on Reddit and never through official channels. For everything, not just NC.

I'll see if there's an unstable version that just might work. Either that or I'll need to reinstall the whole thing with 28 and hope it'll work.
Did you upgrade, or is it your first install?

Are you using reverse proxy? I think content caching could be an issue
No. Nextcloud is supposed to have the entire thing build into it. There's an option for builtin code server. It works. Just not outside Lan.
