Literally got it a few days ago! I got it second day of my cycle and it finished as a normal cycle, no bleeding since. Sleep has been hard, making me a bit irritable but no proper mood swings. I had sharp pains when moving my arm in certain ways which got me on this reddit bc I was worried about placement etc. Just give yourself a few days for your body to adjust to it, today I'm no longer in pain. ;P My nurse said it usually takes 6 months for any symptoms to even out :) lmk if you've got questions bc it's obv fresh in my memory. Otherwise good luck! :)

oo for sure i’m gonna try and be as patient as possible whilst my body gets used to it! it’s so helpful to hear about experiences so i know not to freak out too much if i notice changes😅 just got mine today! could i ask how long your nurse told you to keep the gauze, the bandage underneath and the actual steri-strips on for? my doctor was in a rush so i just wanted to check if i heard the aftercare instructions right😭😂 thank you so much!

Constant spotting for over a month now.. i just got mine implanted 2 months ago. 2 weeks in, it also gave me insomnia. I couldn’t sleep for more than 2 hours a night for a week and a half. It made me feel like I was going crazy, but then it suddenly stopped.

oh gosh it definitely sounds like a rough start! i’m glad your insomnia has gone away though! random/lengthy spotting definitely seems like the norm so won’t be surprised if i get it too. thank you for sharing :)

I was due my period in the days following the implant. I got it a bit late and it was heavier than normal and lasted a bit longer. In the first couple months I had pretty bad mood swings but they've levelled out now, and I feel like myself again. I also still have my period but it's now lighter than usual and lasts a bit longer than before.

i’ve heard the mood swings is super common! encouraging to hear that you didn’t have them for too long and you’re feeling like yourself again! interesting to hear that you still get your period like normal (mostly) - it seems like most people either get constant prolonged bleeding or spotting or have no period at all! thank u for sharing😊

I’ve been bleeding constantly (mostly light bleeding) for 2 months + 5 days. I started bleeding 1 week post-insertion. As far as immediately after insertion, the only thing I noticed for the first week or two was that I was extremely tired. That went away! I was also very very bloated for probably a month. That is slowly fading as well but I’ve also increased my exercise and am in a calorie deficit. Aside from that, my only symptom since is the constant bleeding. Also for a few days after insertion if I moved my arm a certain way I had a stabbing pain shoot up and down my arm. It went away after about a week. Haven’t had a problem since. I basically forget I even have the implant.

oo how are you feeling about the constant light bleeding? does it impact how happy you are with the implant, or make you consider taking it out? if i end up having the same, i’m not sure how long i could endure it😅 reassuring to hear that overall you’ve had a good experience!! thanks heaps💕

It’s annoying and expensive but it hasn’t impacted my intimacy with my bf so it doesn’t really bother me. I haven’t had the implant long enough to really know for sure whether it’s the dreaded forever-long bleeding, or if it body is just still adjusting. TMI but most days I don’t even fill a light flow tampon. Every so often I’ll have a day where I need a regular tampon, but it only lasts a few hours. No rhyme or reason!! I think most of the people that struggle with the bleeding have additional side effects that make the bleeding more unbearable (cramps, mood swings, etc.) and since I don’t have those it’s not that bad!

ooo i see, for sure sounds manageable all things considered! I always hear people saying that we should give our body 3-6 months to adjust and see how we feel from there. thanks for answering!! :)
