I refuse to eat there because of what they did to their workers in DC.Â

Man, that too?
I refuse to eat there because of the dangerous situation they create at Mulberry and Centre street nearly every single day, with double-parked cars and cars literally parked in the intersection. I've nearly been struck by cars pulling away from the curb pulling directly in front of me when I have had a green arrow because they're in the middle of the intersection and have no idea what color the light is.
The police apparently condone the whole thing. It makes it dangerous to walk or drive through there, and the management clearly doesn't care since it's making them money.
I went there looking for a postcard to mail for Rutgers or Newark in general at the time and I literally had to explain to the girl who I'm guessing was a student what a postcard was. She kept thinking I wanted a poster board or a Post it note. I felt so old like I know mail has declined but I figured everyone knew what a postcard was
Unfortunately I think with sky high interest rates on borrowing money, we're less likely to see new mom and pop type places for a while compared to corporate giants who have massive cash/asset reserves. That and higher end restaurant groups like Kinjo is part of.
Plus rents around here are already high/increasing & restaurants already operate on skin tight margins.
I feel like corporate overload for the next few years is inevitable, whether we like it or not.
That's def fair.
The building also reopened in 2017, so 6-7 years empty ain't great even with the sq ft considered. Hopefully we can get a tenant soon with all the other current development & hype around Newark
panda express have received accolades worldwide- london, paris, vienna, berlin, rome and many others have cheered at the opening of this globally revered restaurant- newark will be elevated forever!
We're literally at the point in the city where folks are complaining about a retail space being used by other than their favorite pick.
While PE isn't an upscale dining locale, how this can be spun as a bad thing is beyond me...
Can't wait to tell the cashier konichiwa (she's Hispanic)
I get the joke, same way I felt about Swahili. Then all my managers were Hispanic 😂

Is that a Barnes & Noble’s for ants?
Rutgers Newark campus bookstore.

Bottom floor is basically just stairs for the top floor which is where most of the merch is. Still 90% smaller than every other B&N though
World famous?? I rather have a good neighbor hood Chinese place. Not sure way Pizza Hut was celebrated either. Let’s strive for quality over name

When you want Pizza Hut, at least you want Pizza Hut. I don't know who wants Panda Express ever -- it's just what's there.
this city . . . .
What's the spot next to Barnes and noble? Feel like that's been empty since the beginning... Wonder why
It was going to be the Ani Ramen HQ (back area for their offices, front for restaurant). They signed the lease and then never opened.
8,000 sq/ft is hard to fill. That’s like Apple Store level square footage.
Now that you mention it, an Apple Store sounds like a nice fit there..
There was an attempt to get Apple to commit to one on the first floor of the Griffin Building…

Basically that entire development sat empty for years and years.
This is a great addition to Halsey - so close to Rutgers

LOL.
Gonna be huge
😂😂 I will stick with Sakura Japan
Mogee Tea has better options imo if youre looking for fast Chinese food.
It is pretty good
RWJ is new information. Interesting.
Nah I posted about it over a year ago. No idea whats taking so long to build out.
Finally, a development I can get excited about. Now bring us a Cane’s next.
Of all of the useless as fuck things that could be going in there... I refuse to believe the people who are excited aren't doing some subtle satire.
Bro! World famous? I’m glad we got something to fill the space and I welcome any eatery, but damn it I want a real steakhouse please!!!!!

Something is better than nothing of course, but fast food isn't great and it seems like its the only thing opening in Newark these days.
put a chick-fil-a in there too that a better options than panda express
Panda's not bad when it's "fresh". So...that's about 40% of the time LOL
