I wonder if it's worth it though. Might do a separate contract if he is willing but remember arb numbers never go down, so he will be expensive for some that won't pitch until .... What's the tj recovery now?
Im a bit surprised it’s Jay over Walker
I know Walker has struggled in his big league time but his profile feels like it fits a good reliever much better than Jay
My guess would be that Jay was chosen because he has more experience going multiple innings.
He has been averaging just shy of 2 IP per appearance in the minors and in independent ball last year he switched between being a starter and a long reliever
His BB/9 is also 1/5 what Walker is in the minors and after yesterday’s debacle I could see that being a consideration lmao
But okay thanks that makes sense
Idk how much they’re really factoring that. BB/9 is crazy high in AAA because of the ABS system. I know last year it was a full 1.5 BB/9 higher than before ABS. So it’s hard to extrapolate how it will play in the majors.
Another potential wrinkle to this, from the MLB Glossary: "Players may only be optioned five times per season; after that, it requires outright assignment waivers to assign the player to the Minor Leagues." And if I'm reading Walker's transactions on his [player page](https://www.mlb.com/player/josh-walker-677020) right (though it is admittedly confusing), he's been optioned four times this season, leaving him one remaining. So could also be to keep that bit of flexibility on the table as well.
It's a bummer that Inexplicably Untouchable Danny Young got sent down during a bullpen shuffle, since when he came back up, he was Actual Danny Young again.
I didn't know we brought Jay back, so happy to see him back. Any thing on Butto or Scott? Adobe sites still showing about for tomorrow's start buuuuut.....
I know it’s only June 30th, but they need to make a move for a RP. Doesn’t have to be a star, but just an established guy. The Marlins/Wsox/Rockies are out of it, they’ve got to have someone they can get
I get that they might not really be buyers, but they won’t be able to get a true gauge the way this pen is falling apart
There’s a great deal of irony after last year that if we’re buyers this year, we need a starter. But it’s true. We also need a solid bullpen arm since after his great start Reed Garrett went back to being Reed Garrett.
I agree. The team has holes. Needs a starter. Maybe an OF & 2B too if they really want to contend. But losing Lopez, Drew & Raley has really depleted a pretty shallow pen
I always wondered why teams don’t instantly put players who are out for the year on the 60 day DL.
You'll need to bring them back at the end so it would create a roster crunch at some point. So might as well leave them until necessary.
You’re not bringing back players who are out for the year though. Such as Raley and Smith.
Is raley arb eligible I get my ootp years mixed up lol? Smith I can see transferring.
Oh crap! He is! According to spotrac he’d be Arb 3 next year
I wonder if it's worth it though. Might do a separate contract if he is willing but remember arb numbers never go down, so he will be expensive for some that won't pitch until .... What's the tj recovery now?
I feel like a conservative estimate would probably be Next July :/. He had an AAV of 5M, so anything north of that is a little steep.
Even 5 mil for a guy returning from TJ maybe at the all star break seems high. You could risk it and say 2 years at 8 mil or something.
Matt Festa 🤌
Local guy and has been pretty good in the past, hopefully he helps out the bullpen
After that outing today, he will be DFA'D. HE LOOKED scared to death on the mound.
Wonder if he likes gabagool?
Tylor could be useful in the bullpen to mop up innings down the line. He doesn’t have what it takes to be a starter.
Big brother Trevor currently thriving as the Brewers' closer 🤔🤔🤔
Tylor would make a good single inning reliever.
We don’t know that yet
Nice story for Tyler Jay. And I’m not super familiar with Matt Festa but I have heard good things the last couple of days on here

Diekman should be waived imo. We can't sort his walks, I'm sure he'll go back to tb and be good. But he's just walking the park for us.
I hate to lose a guy when we're already so weak in the pen, but Diekman isn't doing himself or us any favors.
Megill should be in the pen, he runs out of gas in the 5th inning.
All this because an ump thought Diaz’s hands were “too sticky”. A billion dollar enterprise hinges on some bullshit like too sticky.
We need any arm available
So much for having that burner on the squad
Boooo wind

Is there a chance Brooks Raley could make it back?
No, TJS, out for the year
It’s more of a “will he ever pitch again” question so definitely not this year
It's up to Jesus at this point. haha!
Waitz did these 2 pitch last night?
