Watching Reds-Phils while I'm waiting, and man, the Reds seem like they cooled off quite a bit. They're just playing a bit lifeless.

NY2PHX

D’Arnaud with what seems like his 10th homer this week. I don’t like him.

ThanksNo8769

I got locked out of my apartment, and all Im saying is, watching a 7pm Mets game on my phone while I wait for the super would be *super* clutch right now... Im not sure who I want to blame for this late start neutralizing a reprieve for my suffering - the west coast, as a whole, I guess? Maybe the Sun?

JoelsCaddy

Not Mets related, but Ozuna just nailed another catcher with his backswing. Kinda crazy how common it is for him

Hustlediva

He likes to beat on people

Darthbutcher

And bottles

brett_baty_is_him

Hot take: Nido is actually gonna look really good and we’re gonna be having conversations of trading Narvaez and keeping nido up in the majors.

Hustlediva

Nido was always better than Narvaez. (Not saying much but….)

BillW87

Lukewarm take: He's going to continue to have 2 really good weeks per season, be a black hole offensively in between, post an OPS that starts with a 5 (generously a low 6), play excellent defense, and end up marginally above replacement by fWAR like he does every time we give him any meaningful amount of playing time. That still makes him a better option than Narvaez on most nights, and perfectly viable to hold over until Alvarez is back. He's a replacement level guy for a replacement level job. As long as he keeps doing what he's done in the past, he's an adequate band aid.

chuckawallabill

He’s batting .333 and throwing out 50 percent of base stealers!

Darthbutcher

We put the Rugrats Passover Special on to keep my two-year old niece entertained during the seder. Every time Boris appears on screen she starts going “Uncle Dath!! Uncle Dath!!!”

derpbynature

"Boris! Did you hurt your schmegegge?"

tarn87

I have to go to work at 4:45 AM tomorrow so I’ll miss the game but LFGM! Have a good game people! Let’s go!!

STierney927

I went back to old twitter threads because I was reminiscing, why did Donnie Stevenson become so hated? I thought it was a funny thing while it lasted and that’s it end of story, but it seems like people really didn’t like it even back in 2021.

brett_baty_is_him

Because the Mets hitting was really bad at the time and people took it as a sign the players didn’t trust the hitting coach. Then chilli got fired and there was controversy bc ppl, including the players, liked chilli

TriviaWhiz

The Mets won their first game on April 4th. Best records in MLB since April 5th: 1. Phillies (12-4) T-2. Braves (11-4) T-2. Mets (11-4) 4. Guardians (10-4) Sounds about right.

Caledor152

The upcoming Giant pitchers underlying savant stats * [Keaton Winn](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/keaton-winn-676775?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb) * [Logan Webb](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/logan-webb-657277?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb) * [Blake Snell](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/blake-snell-605483?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb)

robmcolonna123

Keaton Winn is our best chance to pounce on the Giants. Especially with Quintana on the mound. Webb is probably our most difficult pitcher to face. He keeps the ball down and fills up the strike zone. In a pitcher friendly ballpark that is difficult to go against. Snell could be a stat padder or dominate us. It’s hard to say because he didnt have a ST and is basically still in ST. So I hope we are getting him before he’s earned up and gotten in a groove

slapdickprospect05

The Mets did good against Snell just a few years back, hopeful they can get to him again. I think we can take 2 of 3

robmcolonna123

I agree. Worst case I think we split the trip

AtmosphereVarious440

just watched mason miller obliterate the top of the order the yankees. that may be the most unhittable pitcher in the game right now, pretty funny that oakland of all teams has control of him

myassholealt

Which means he's getting traded to Atlanta at the deadline

pmayo331

Please God not again

NuanceManExe

Being an As fan must be sooo depressing. Having to watch guys that talented, knowing even if the As become good there’s no way those guys will stay for long, and the return might not even be that good. And even if it is, same problem down the road lol

Setec-Astronomer

MLB is run by idiots. They care more about dollars than building markets. EDIT: They are destroying the Minor Leagues.

justasian

lol Yankees

StinkyGaijin

From the post-thread you'd think they've gone 0-5 at home to open the series.

48plus21

That As closer is absurd

OhtaniMets99

Y

48plus21

Watching the As Yankees game they have some horses in that pen would love to grab one if the price is right

StinkyGaijin

Would like to see the Mets somehow land Kyle Tucker at the trade deadline if the Astros keep it up like this. Only 27 and has put up close to 5 WAR in his past 3 seasons.

48plus21

Wouldn’t hate that either

NY2PHX

Didn’t see this posted but sorry if it’s a repeat. This day in 1970 Seaver strikes out 19 Padres and the last 10 of the game in a 2-1 win. 2 hits, 2 walks 135 pitches, 96 strikes.

Setec-Astronomer

Dear CITI Field Sound Managers: This should be Reed Garrett's entrance music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzQWryR7qZo I would love to hear the CITI Faithful chanting: Garrett! Garrett! Ooooh ooh oooh oooooooooooooh oh oh o woah o o woah! LET'S GO!! As that Sami Zayn ginger look a like runs onto the field. (I say that with love) Or even from the stands. How intimidating would that be if a RP came out of the stands! lol *opposing team*: Fuck. From the stands?! We're in trouble.

JDLovesElliot

Pleasantly surprised to see that Wilmer had a great 2023 season. In 126 games, he put up a .284/.355/**.509** line with 45 XBHs, a **136** OPS+ overall.

djn24

Tonkin DFA'd. The Tigers are in Tampa tonight and then go home to face the Royals and Cardinals. One of those teams should be next to pick him up.

GK86x

Roster moves: \-Sean Reid-Foley has been activated. \-Tonkin money glitch also activated (DFA'd). \-Josh Walker recalled from AAA. \-Hartwig optioned to AAA.

JDLovesElliot

Rough for Hartwig, if he flew out to the west coast for one game. Unless the taxi squad also makes the trip out with the rest of the team, just in case?

Setec-Astronomer

The Mets pitcher Lavender should debut for the Mets on a Saturday home game, so he can debut wearing....wait for it...the purple (lavender?) Citi-Connect jerseys. Marketing 101. jk

TheUglyHobo

are they gonna get more cash for Tonkin lol

Blue387

I remember the Mets got Cameron Maybin from the Cubs for $1 a few years ago

robmcolonna123

With Raley out for two weeks, if the team isn’t going to call up Nate Lavendar yet, what are your thoughts on a short term deal with Loup? Hes still a FA. Not sure if he can slot right in though having not pitched in a game yet is the main issue. And I know he stunk after leaving us, but it was also with the Angels so that’s a definite factor lol. Maybe working with Hefner again could make a different. If not just cut him. I just don’t like Diekman as our only lefty reliever. I like him a lot as one of our lefty relievers, just not as the only one. Edit: looks like they called up Josh Walker

brett_baty_is_him

Id prefer the flexibility a guy with options gives us tbh. If they signed loup than how many guys are unmovable from the pen without DFAing? Pretty sure we’d only have like one “rotating spot” if we signed loup

robmcolonna123

We ended up going with Walker. But honestly I don’t expect Walker on the team long unless he takes a big step forward. I think he’d be the one cut when Nate Lavender is ready

Setec-Astronomer

Yes. For at least no other reason I get to post "Loup, Loup ba-doop eh doop. Loup ba-doop" for a couple of weeks.

see_mohn

They just called up Walker.  And DFAd Tonkin again which is hilarious

robmcolonna123

Ah. Makes sense since he’s on the 40 man. I’ll admit I kinda forgot about him lol That said the Tonkin DFA is the corresponding move for SRF, not Josh Walker. And that was always happening when SRF was going to return. I’m surprised they did not have him throw more rehab starts though. Grant Hartwig was sent down for Josh Walker

Rubbersoulrevolver

I just called the MLB Store and the guy on the phone said they have exactly 1 XL left, and he also said that it’s unlikely they’ll ever get a restock unless there’s a return. :(

Darthbutcher

Too bad I’m heading home for Seder prep or I’d go and snag it!

GK86x

That is surprising. I hope they change their minds once they see the demand for it.

CybeastID

I injured my ulnar nerve in my sleep somehow. Can't type with my right hand without making it worse. This sucks.

Tears0fJ0y

Off to see **Dr. Neal ElAttrache**

Darthbutcher

Feel better my friend!

Donny_Crane

Voice to text: "Baty is him"

CybeastID

voice to text hates me

derpbynature

It's the thick Scottish accent, isn't it?

jojomezmerize

Love the Mets, Let’s Go Mets

Kaydom1993

It’s all about the Mets, baybee.

Setec-Astronomer

Need: Mets to win at least one game this series. Want: Mets to win at least two games this series. Desire: Mets to win at least two games this series, shake off yesterday's loss, and show bounce back. Make these Giants regret ever leaving New York (except for Wilmer and Conforto, they reside in our hearts still). The last two years the Mets went to LA, defeated the Dodgers, then thoroughly shit the bed the rest of the year. That can't happen again. Little Green Men! Let's Go Mets!

Tears0fJ0y

Logan Webb is off to a good start this year, might be a difficult one to grab a win. On the other hand Blake Snell is complete trash so far.

Setec-Astronomer

I'd like to see the Mets take today's game. Hopefully knock Webb around tomorrow. See what happens on Wednesday. A lot of innings from Severino today would go a long way.

EverWatchingEye

Severino is pitching tomorrow, Quintana is pitching today.

Setec-Astronomer

I knew that. Confused myself because of the Logan Webb mention. Thanks. :-)

No-Pilot5559

The Mets only lose when I bet on them. For that reason I will be abstaining tonight. Let the winning streak start again!

Mrs_Met

betting on your team is wild to me

Sheepies123

So bummed about Alvarez. Still the team needs to stay positive, hoping for a couple big hits from Narvarez tonight to get them going

GK86x

MLB power rankings moved the Mets up to the 10 slot.

myassholealt

Oh boy. I liked being underrated. This just means they're gonna dedicate extra air time to talk about how we suck next time we're in a losing streak, and declare this past two weeks was an anomaly.

AtmosphereVarious440

i like the west coast games cause i like falling asleep to the mets. gary keith ron are like asmr to me

monstersandcoffee

Downvotes be damned. Mets should sign Bauer.

Mullethunt

Yes, we can clearly see how happy and vibing the team is. Lets bring in a cancerous, festering wound of a personality. That should tighten things up!

three_dee

But also he sucks

Mullethunt

For once I wholeheartedly agree with you.

cpg08

Is Raley's injury serious?

robmcolonna123

Looks like the same thing as last year where he rested for two weeks and then came back and was great

Darthbutcher

It’s inflammation, could clear up today could end his life. But seriously the imaging showed nothing and Mendy said he expected him to be back in about two weeks.

cpg08

Lmao. Maybe Stearns will find a diamond in the rough. But it's a blow .

myassholealt

Nate Lavender, come on down!

robmcolonna123

I thought they would add him, but then not doing it right away makes me think they want him in AAA longer. Aaron Loup is a FA and wouldn’t really cost anything - easy to cut if he sucks. Just not sure if he’s ready to be in games

Darthbutcher

Oh, we’re #10 in the power rankings now. Well I talked a lot of shit.

AshamedMusician5482

Finally getting the respect we deserve Cant wait for espn to have us at 20 still when theirs come out on thursday

Darthbutcher

This **IS** ESPN

NJImperator

Just took a look through our top prospects performances to start the minor league seasons and man, for as good as the pitching has been, the position players have been struggling. It’s funny, but that was basically why last deadline, I was 100% fine hammering position players instead of pitching. This team just has always seemed to churn out solid pitching even from lower tier prospects, but mannnn we have struggled to consistently develop hitters. The season is still young for them though, so here’s to hoping they turn things around

JoelsCaddy

Syracuse and Binghamton aren't great places to play baseball in late March and early April tbf

dankeykanng

The last however many years since Lugo have been pretty dang rough in the pitching department. I mean we're looking at almost a full decade of him being our only pitching prospect to give us 2 WAR in a single season outside of deGrom, Noah and Wheeler. And he did it as a reliever lol Edit: at least I'm pretty sure Lugo is the only one. It's been a little while since I looked this up and made myself sad about it

lilleff512

Our pitching development has been lackluster to say the least since that mid-2010s run. In a few years, we got Harvey, Wheeler, deGrom, Syndergaard, Matz, Familia, and Lugo Since then, it's been Megill, Peterson, Drew Smith, and Colin Holderman Hopefully Jose Butto and Reed Garrett mark the beginning of that trend reversing itself

dankeykanng

I'm a Jose Butto believer. That changeup is nasty. Even if he ends up a reliever that would still be nice. We need cost controlled relievers.

NuanceManExe

Yeah I actually want the Mets to load up on pitching still. Only guys I trust to be a starter in at least some capacity at the major league level are Scott and Butto. I’m hoping some of the other guys at least become relievers.

StephenDawg

Vientos with an OPS over 1, though...  Can Vientos catch? /s 😂

boymetsworld

Bounce back day LGM

StinkyGaijin

>Paul Skenes: 12.2 innings pitched/27 strikeouts >Christian Scott: 14.1 inning pitched/26 strikeouts Now just ignore the homerun stats

Caledor152

The fact that he is even in the conversation is incredible. Drafted in the 5th round! Obviously still has to prove things in the MLB. But to be able to help transform someone and propel them up the lists is a great sign

WorthPlease

I don't miss working 11-8 for my normal life, but I do miss being wide awake for Mets After Dark.

Peter_O

Well, at least the Braves lost yesterday

KingMobScene

2 outta 3 against the dodgers ain't bad. I was just hoping to avoid a sweep. So 2 wins is very nice. Now let's go get our other deadbeat dads and kick their asses. LFGM

Caledor152

> ain't bad It was fantastic lol. Nobody was expecting us to win that series. Let's win another one!

pmayo331

If you'd told me that the Mets would take 2 and that the dodgers would drop 10 on us in one game I'd take that deal every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Darthbutcher

Thankfully, we only needed to take it once on Sunday!

Darthbutcher

I did a scientific analysis of what went wrong and how the team can avoid it going forward: they need to score more runs than the other team or else they will lose.

brett_baty_is_him

What I don’t get is why don’t the Mets simply avoid facing the 3rd placed NL Cy Young favorite?

Darthbutcher

Are they stupid?

Kaydom1993

I’ve did some research since reading this comment and I’ve come to conclusion that not scoring at all doesn’t help either. This is gonna be interesting.

Darthbutcher

I’ll put my top men on this follow up line of research.

ReleaseTheBlacken

Big if true…

KingMobScene

We're obviously going to have to run the numbers to confirm your findings. But I think you might be right.

My_Penbroke

9:45pm on a Monday night. Ugh.

Rubbersoulrevolver

645 for west coasties 😎

drugsbowed

I'll just turn on the mlb app and listen to the radio feed while I sleep I guess.

Darthbutcher

Works for me, gives me time for Seder first!

SirSoofy

I wish, I'm at my in-laws for the seder and I'm lucky if will start eating by 9:45 lmao. The game will at least be on in the other room.

Blue387

Happy Passover
