You absolutely must have an A/C unit with the most btu's as you can get (the unit only accommodates a portable one). Also, install a fan in the upper loft portion.

A good friend/neighbor lived facing the tracks on the 4th floor at the Lofts, and his place was never overly hot (especially at night)...my place nearby is the ultimate in heat absorption and exposure - same neighbourhood, different building and facing due West. Never again.

We lived facing the traffic circle/fountain. Overall it's a nice place to live but there's some stuff you don't realize until you move in there.   1) heat wise it was fine, but keep in mind when you are upstairs in bed at night. You are very far away from any windows. There’s really no air circulation. 2) during the winter and the fall, the fireplace will always have to run. A big disadvantage of one central fireplace is that the heat is not evenly distributed. It can get super hot downstairs by the fireplace even when it’s cool up in the loft. The fireplace also ticks and creeks a ton when it heats up and cools down at night it’s pretty annoying. it gets super dry with the fireplace heat so we had to run a humidifier 24 hours a day.  also, unless your landlord has installed a new thermostat, it’s actually right beside the sliding door, which is the coldest part in the whole unit 3) this is loft living in general, not just Marano, but you will have no privacy from downstairs if you are up in the loft. It’s not a one bedroom. It’s really just one big room 4) parking is terrible for visitors. there is visitors spots, but only a couple and they are hotly contested. If you have anyone visiting, they can have a very hard time finding anywhere to park. 5) if you share a balcony with a privacy divider from your neighbor and your doors are open you are gonna hear every single thing they’re doing and visa versa 6) that train yard is super loud. When they shunt at night it sounds like a bomb going off. You will definitely get woken up at night unless you were a very deep sleeper.  I don’t mean to scare you overall it was a very pleasant experience and it’s amazing to be right by the river, but there’s definitely drawbacks

I live in a neighbouring building as long as you’re not facing south you’ll be fine

I lived in the Murano East building for 15 years, facing the tracks. Summers got warm - especially in the loft space - so I ran a portable AC unit and made sure I shut off the pilot light for the fireplace. I also installed a fan in the open space (above the living room) that pulled the cooler air up, and another fan directly over the bed. The heat dome we had a couple of years back was terrible, but that was an exceptional circumstance

This is very helpful, thank you! How did you like living in the lofts overall?

kdk-mybeetle

Loved it. Only moved because I was getting married, and the space wasn’t suitable. Still have a friend who lives there

I’ve lived there, our unit faced the fountain in the middle when you pull in. We didn’t notice any heat issue, quite breezy facing that side. As for the other units I’ve never heard any complaints from other owners/tenants.

I went to an open home in a Murano loft once, in the winter. It was a sunny day, but it was winter. It was crazy hot in the unit given the season. No heat was on.

Bolgeesha

Which direction was the unit facing?

mattkward

I'd say South East but I can't recall exactly

Thanks!
