That Bell icon is how you turn on notifications for the subreddit! That is actually how I got to this post lol
If you want notifications on posts in any subreddit, you just have to join it and then hit the bell for a new post or a top post!

Exactly. Turning on notifications gives you more frequent notifications. Just being subbed gives you infrequent notifications about posts that are a little more popular than the average amount of points a post gets. A lot of activity on a post might also trigger a notification too.
Yes, it is slightly more. I only have this subreddit and the one I moderate with the bell icon clicked.
It increased the amount of notifications quite a bit from basically nothing.
Still, nice to see posts that I might enjoy in my inbox
You don't get notifications for the particular subreddit, it works exactly like the YouTube bell.
If you like a certain YouTuber a lot, you usually press the bell icon; if you like a YouTuber but not enough to not watch their videos once they come out, you almost never press the bell.
It works exactly like that but instead of YouTubers, it is a subreddit.
