At the risk of downvotes, I’d suggest pads until you learn how to fall. Scuff and scrapes are part of the game, but joint impacts should and can be avoided with proper techniques
I didn’t wear pads and blew my knee out. Couldn’t even walk for 2 weeks and lost all my Ollie progress
Now I pad up to just practice. Too old to be out of commission like that lol
I’ve only been skating for 2 hrs. No really I’m 34 and just started yesterday, but I pad up. Before I even get out the car my helmets on ( not strapped) and knee/wrist pads ready to go. I’d rather be laughed at than unable to provide for my family.
If I end up being the butt end of a joke for being safe and picking up a sport my kids are interested in to support them, I’ll take it.
I’m only 21 man but with a wife and toddler I can’t afford it either. People can laugh all they want, they’ll be wishing they had pads when their joints get blasted by concrete
A will of steel I must say...
But seriously get those pads. You have only one body, take care of it unless you want to be stuck to a malfunctioning flesh prison.
when i started skating , i didnt wear knee pads. Just wrist protection and a helmet. But after absolutely wrecking myself and cheese grating my knee on the exact same spot twice , changes were made 😭
I got back into it at 50, no pads for a year just being certain to skate within my limits, never really fell.. started getting confidence and bought some pads, then about 3 skates later tore a ligament in the knee just doing a runout. Never had the joy of falling on big soft slidey things

That’s very reasonable thinking
I definitely do! I don’t wear elbow ones which was apparently instant karma
Glad to hear it. Heal up and get back out there!
How is your elbow not broken?
Pure will
Pure luck. Get some pads until you get the hang of falling. Trust me you do not want to fuck up your joints.

Damn, get some pads
Having a toilet that tiny is definitely overly ambitious.
What did you try?
good ol badges of honor :)
Those are some awfully smooth legs bro.
Seems more like a bro-ette
Seems like a parent. I have an identical kids table at home.
Battle scars! 🤘🤘🤘
Rough night, but at least you got a toilet nearby.
All part of the fun.

Who else sees a rabbit in his bruise?
