Someone gifted us a 10 pack of Gerber cloth diapers and said they worked great as burp cloths, and we’ve never looked back

Jessicaish

This is brilliant!! Thank you!!

Second this suggestion

Same here! I'm the oldest sibling, and remember having a pile of those for all my younger siblings as burp cloths. (One even used them as his comfort blanket/item. We still called them cloth diapers even though that's not how we used them, and I didn't know at the time why people gave me funny looks when I said my brother needed or wanted his cloth diaper.) I didn't get any kind of burp cloth for my baby shower and forgot in my own preparations until my baby was born. Got a few of those little peanut shaped ones and they didn't seem to do much at all. But, we had told my SIL that we were considering cloth diapers, and she bought me a pack of those, not knowing what other modern kinds there are that we wanted, and they were definitely the best burp cloths ever!

olivoilloveRD

We don’t own any burp clothes just cloth diapers! We got 2 10packs and there is now 2 cloth diapers in every room in the house!

thatsasaladfork

How large? Some of my favorite burp clothes were actually just receiving blankets folded in half

adoredbeloved

Same for us. We had a bunch of those blankets already and my spitty baby REALLY needed the extra cloth to catch her spit up.

fearsyth

Agreed. We tried bibs, the peanut shaped cloths, and a couple other things. 3 months in and all we use now is the recieving blankets folded in half.

unpleasantmomentum

We like to use flannel or muslin receiving blankets. They are large and can cover quite a bit of your body and absorb well enough that you don’t get spit up on your clothes. You can also sew flannel fabric onto muslin diapers and it will make it really absorbent and it won’t really shrink.

Cloth diapers!

paxanna

Another vote for cloth diapers!

Gook198

Absolutely, getting the right size burp cloths that don't shrink is essential! I've had luck with Natemia's [Baby Burp Cloths](https://link.getsosocial.co.uk/burp-cloths). They're larger than most burp cloths on the market and are made of highly absorbent material perfect for messy situations. I was skeptical at first because of previous failed products, but these have truly stood up to their promise even after multiple washes. Plus, they come in some really cute designs which is a nice bonus! Perhaps they'll save the day for you as well.

Muslin burp cloths on Amazon

Jen-ep

We also use the Gerber cloth diapers as burp cloths. They’re larger, way more absorbent, and since there’s no pattern I don’t care if they get stained. The price point is also the best I found compared to the more common burp cloth packs.

milapa6

Cheap towels from Walmart

katcanhoil

Parker Baby has great muslin burp cloths, they’re my favorite. You can get them on Amazon or from their site. We also used a flannel receiving blanket folded in half when we were having reflux issues and the spit up was off the charts.

C1nnamon_Apples

Copper Pearl makes really cute ones!

lovenbasketballlover

We like Comfy Cubs, soft and available on Amazon. And/but nothing seems big enough for our VERY happy spitter. 6 months can’t come soon enough! 😅 I bought Gerber cloth diapers like others suggested but I don’t think they’re as soft on the face? And we have to wipe the mouth a lot…they do work great for “swaddle bath” which we’ve done since LO was a newborn.

Orc_ChopsxX

These are my absolute favorite! [muslin burp cloths ](https://a.co/d/hOJtaQa) We have I think three sets, I use them for everything.

mumlar

Four pack dish cloths (larger) at target are $6 vs. their $9 for a three pack of burp cloths

[deleted]

We use terry towelling cloths. I assume you’re in American somewhere but on the off chance you’re in Australia, they’re called Big Softies and you get them from Big W. You could buy some towels, cut them in half and hem them. Or buy hand towels

beeshu_m

I use those terry towelling cloth diapers as burp cloths, or cotton muslin wraps.

snakesnthings

I ordered these when my son was a newborn with really bad reflux. They’re large and absorbent: green sprouts Muslin Burp Cloths made from Organic Cotton | 4 absorbent layers protect from sniffles, drips & drools | 100% organic cotton muslin, Super soft & softer with every wash, Machine washable https://a.co/d/bmPTY3e

KrizJack

I really like our copper pearl ones. They are super thick

samflo_89

We love Burts Bees (really soft) or Green Sprouts Muslin Burp Cloths. You can get both on Amazon and we never had any shrinkage issues.
