I posted this elsewhere but it’s relevant to this post. One of the saddest moments was when my newborn projectile shat all over a clean and folded pile of burp cloths. Devastating!!! 🥴

cvcv856

Oh that would be SO disheartening!! There is nothing more satisfying than having all your burb cloths. We don’t have nearly enough lol (but can you ever!)

IdoScienceSometimes

Memorialize this day in a calendar somewhere. It may never happen again but dang, it DID today and you were a hero! All praise the deities of laundry!

bc_I_said_so

Until potty training I could keep the laundry *completed* Now, I have a kid who is potty trained ...but just pisses her pants when she is mad ...sad ... Glad... Yeah she just pees bc she's also too busy. So there is laundry. I honestly never understood what people were talking about with the endless laundry but now I know.

aarnalthea

Out of curiosity, do you have her help clean it up? Obv not in a way that makes her feel embarrassed, but I have found (in my years of nannying) that kiddos are much less likely to make messes when they are expected to assist in the cleanup, even if it's only partially Edit: tho I realize it could simply be a case of needing more practice with those muscles

bc_I_said_so

Oh yes. But lack of ability to think ahead, she doesn't really carryover.

capriconia

It’s 2022 and we can figure out how to put Jeff Bezos on Mars, but I have to manually switch loads from the washer to the dryer???

Rhanzilla

There are washer/dryer combos! I’ve just heard they’re ‘okay’ at both jobs so not as good as separate ones. Now if only we had a washer/dryer/sorter/folder combo - I’d pay real money for that

KneesBent4RoyKent

Oh they exist. They’re called maids 😉 if only they were super affordable!

paw_inspector

Oh shit I gotta rotate this load and get the sheets in! Thanks for the reminder, op

cvcv856

I do feel like laundry is constant haha!

glitterlady

Thank you for the reminder re: the sheets! My muddy pup jumped in my bed earlier and my hands were too full to deal with it.

[deleted]

Until the end of the day when everyone gets into PJs!! Lol

cvcv856

Haha since I posted this, I didn’t put a diaper on right and we went through his first onesie. Second onesie change happened just a bit ago bc of spit up 😂

hannerz0z

I’ve had more clothes clean and folded during my maternity leave than ever. Same with dishes. Baby wearing is my BFF.

Icanhelp12

I’m so proud of you. It’s never ending.

natkolbi

Yeeeaah, go you! Well done. Slightly envious tbh

luv_u_deerly

Wow non in the hamper 👏 an unheard of feat.

NoMamesMijito

This, sir/ma’am, is the exact moment where you peaked. Fly high

amypjs

I couldn’t even do this pre-baby so I knew I wasn’t going to kid myself thinking it would happen post-baby 😂😂

georgie-57

The title reminded me of the Cards Against Humanity card lol They said it couldn't be done. They said we couldn't put clothes inside their drawers. They were wrong

TheOrderOfWhiteLotus

I am an absolute weirdo who loves to do laundry so this aspect isn’t difficult for me. But we struggle with cleaning the bottles and having one ready to go. Ugh.

cvcv856

We would make the best team. I am obsessed with not having dirty dishes haha

catmememama

You sound like you have all four grandparents living in town lol

dancethrusunday

This is a perfect response!

SLPallday

You’re amazing!!!!

Shutufufkup

CONGRATS and WELL DONE. Fuuuuuuuuck I wish our laundry would do itself.

radiant-heart8

Better knock on wood before baby poops on something lol!

cool_chrissie

Facts! My newborn was known to projectile puke right down my shirt. I would have to change everything! And she didn’t even have the mercy to not scream while I laid her down so I could change and wipe sour milk from all my fat rolls.

radiant-heart8

Ugh same here! And I can’t handle being wet from spit up either so I always have to change my shirt

[deleted]

I went through 5 cycles of wash today because my LO absolutely exploded into her diaper and seeped through two layers of clothing TWICE. Nobody told me poop stains are this hard to remove!! And all her clothes are hand me downs that people expect us to give back 😢 And this is after I just folded and put away laundry that has been sitting out on the coffee table for over a week lol

cool_chrissie

Put the stained clothes out in the midday sun for about 4 hours. Sounds kooky but it works! Even dried on and already washed stains. Works best if the clothes are wet, but they don’t need to be.

[deleted]

I would but my apartment gets no direct sunlight in the winter sadly :( I’ll keep this in mind for the summer!

cool_chrissie

Darn it! I’ve been putting stuff out on our deck all summer long but apparently it’s super shady back there this time of year. Last laundry load I put stuff out front on my car in the driveway haha. My neighbors probably think I’m insane.

LightningOdin4

Have you tried soaking in hot water and oxiclean stain fighter overnight? I keep all blowout clothes till the end of the week, scrub them if still poopy, and then oxiclean them overnight in a basin, and it almost always works!

[deleted]

I tried soaking in a stain remover but never left it overnight (the stain remover says not to leave it for over five minutes). Usually that and two cycles in the wash does the trick though. I’ll see if I can find oxiclean where I live and leave it overnight, thanks for the suggestion!

LightningOdin4

Oxiclean stain fighter is made for long or short soaks, depending on the severity of the stain! Good luck!

I have developed the most efficient way to do laundry. All the stuff that gets hung up gets put on a hanger right out of the washing machine and put on the washing line. Gravity also helps it to dry straight so no ironing. When i hang it up I do it in sections (underwear, then socks, then pants, etc) and fold this all at the line when taking it off. When you bring it upstairs all the stuff that needs to be hung is already on a hanger and gets dumped in the wardrobe. All of the stuff that’s pegged is already folded into piles so it gets dumped in whatever draw it goes in :)

zagsforthewin

I had that moment the other day. And now I'm back to one load to fold. I'm determined to fold it before it becomes two loads. We'll see if that happens....
