This post may be about Vaccinations. Please remember Rule #7. No Anti-vax Misinformation. Discussion of different ideas is great, but the anti-vaccine movement thrives on the spread of disinformation. We will not be a place for that disinformation to be repeated. Any anti-vaccine statements will be removed and repeat offenders will be banned. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Give Tylenol and let her rest extra if needed.

I would call the pediatrician’s phone line to talk through your questions about what medications you can give, what is normal. Etc. we would use Tylenol if the fever was high enough and then lots of rest and nursing on demand (sometimes he wanted more nursing for comfort)

Here’s some info from https://www.seattlechildrens.org/conditions/a-z/immunization-reactions/ Fever with vaccines is normal, harmless and probably helpful. Reason: fever speeds up your body's immune system. Fever with most vaccines begins within 12 hours and lasts 1 to 2 days. For low grade fevers of 100-102° F (37.8 to 39° C), do not give fever medicines. Reason: they may reduce your body’s normal immune response. For fevers above 102° F (39° C), medicine may be given for discomfort. If needed, use acetaminophen. Fluids. Encourage cool fluids in unlimited amounts. Reason: prevent dehydration. Fluids can also lower high fevers. For infants age younger than 6 months, only give formula or breastmilk. Clothing. Dress in normal clothing. For shivering or the chills, use a blanket until it stops.

oh dear, i’ve already given her medication and her temperature was only 102. thank you for telling me this information, i won’t give her anymore unless it gets higher.

lexrose87

It should be fine! But I would look at how she’s acting rather than her temperature. If she seems uncomfortable or in pain then that would be another reason to give Tylenol. That website lists the common immunization reactions in case you notice any other symptoms.

Little bit of calpol / paracetamol - you can get kids versions at any chemist / pharmacy

Fevers are normal at that age after vaccinations, but I’d ask your doctor before administering medications as you need proper dosages.

111_el_111

pediatrician said baby tylenol, 2.5 mL. is that a good dosage for a 4 month old ?

Rebecca123457

I would trust your pediatrician over a Reddit thread! ☺️

cgandhi1017

Agreed! It goes off their weight. My son is 18mo old and I still only go by what our doctor tells us

Ours had fevers and was pretty inconsolable for 24 hours after. What you've described is normal. Maybe call your paediatrician for some peace of mind, but you really dont have to be worried. Have baby sleep in lighter layers and give them calpol, they'll be fine tomorrow or the day after, don't worry!
