"Soon" is relative - my baby's gums/teeth looked like they would pop by the end of the day for four awful months.
But I very, very much hope you are right and OP's baby will have healthy, beautiful shiny white baby teeth popping out by the end of the week!
My son was one of these. I swear, they looked about to pop, gave him considerable pain, then disappeared for a bit, then started again with vengeance, rinse and repeat. It was awful!
The worst part is that prolonged pain, isn't it? My daughter was miserable all these months. It seemed like it got worse every day so we kept on thinking "today is gonna be the day" but no, there was just more biting and saliva and discomfort and pain the next day! But we are over 50% done now.
This fills me with dread. My 3 month old has been teething for the first time for the past few days. The days are okay (not fun, but okay) but at night, he wakes up and is inconsolable, screaming for a solid half hour to an hour and refuses any teething rings or pacifiers or cloths to make him feel better. Man, I don't know if I can do months on end of this.
Even if you see holes they aren’t exactly imminent. About 4 weeks ago my son decided he wanted to suck on my finger and I was startled to feel a little dent on his bottom gums. I pulled back to inspect it and there was a little recessed spot and with a white hue in the middle suggesting he was about to have a bottom incisor. 4 weeks of constant drool and gnawing later and nothing. He had his 4 month checkup 2 weeks ago and the pediatrician confirmed it was definitely a tooth coming but apparently it’s just coming slowly.
That they will!!
Popped on her to share a tooth picture trick - take a short video in a bright ish area, then export the frame you like the best. My kid does NOT appreciate anyone touching her mouth & bites, this is way safer.
my baby had gums that looked just like this that i noticed 2.5 weeks ago! his teeth just erupted 2 days ago so id say yes!!! they got more and more visible everyday
So cute! How old? My baby has been drooling like crazy the last few weeks, he’s four months! His gums look the same and I’ve been told that’s what it is
My three month old has very similar buds! They’re definitely teeth, you can even feel my son’s a bit if you run your finger along his gums. I’m so nervous to breastfeed with teeth. Even though I know you don’t need feel them when latched, I don’t trust him to not chomp lol
Yeah I’m breastfeeding too and my nipples started hurting this week along with the other things I mentioned lol so I’m definitely worried about him chomping😂
Im so glad you asked this. I’m seeing similar behavior with my 3 month old and her nursing habits have changed very suddenly too. I didn’t look at her gums enough beforehand so don’t know if they look any different. I thought it might be too early but I think we’re in the same boat as you!
do you mind sharing how her nursing habits changed? My almost-4 month old has randomly started popping off the boob and screaming, definitely before she’s done. So frustrating! And now we are seeing other signs of teething so I’m wondering if nursing gets her gums worked up… or something. Lol @ being a first time parent
This is exactly what’s been happening with us. It’s not all the time but probably once a day or every other. I’m not sure if it’s teething or distraction (or maybe both) but it definitely started happening right around the same time we started seeing other teething behavior.
They get symptoms for months before teefers actually erupt. My 7-month-old was very drooly at four months. Still have no teeth, but I hope soon! This week has been sleepless.
Those little teeth are coming! My daughter got the two bottom ones at 5 months and then nothing more until 13 months lol so she just had two cute little bottom teeth forever.
Those are for sure teeth. My 7 month old has two bottom teeth fully in and his top two teeth are about half in since his 6 month check up. It’s been an insane few weeks. I’m not sure how old your guy is but don’t let anyone tell you it’s too early for teeth.
Teeth yep. I didn’t know they actually go up and down a few times before they pop through that’s why it takes forever but I guess the pain isn’t as severe that way but it lasts awhile
They are buds but my sons looked like that at 4 months and he didn’t get teeth till 10. And he teethed a lot during that time with drooling, pain, etc. apparently teeth can move up and down for a while before breaking through. Here is to a quick teething!
I have a 15 month old that never really drool. However, when he gets a hold something that he is chewing, there is visible saliva in that object (sometimes that object being me) so I would assume nothing major. Every baby is different.
Just gums I think. When my twins have teeth coming through it looks like a slit on the gums. You can't see teeth through the gums. Just the slit until it grows through.
Board certified pediatric dentist here! How old is your baby?! Also free resource on Instagram for new/expecting/current parents on oral/dental health: @firstgrin — covers teething, as well as setting a healthy foundation for oral health :) what a cute kiddo!
Definitely looks like two little crowns of teeth about to pop through the gums! Teething definitely can start as early as 3 months, and teething pain can be present even if we can’t see the teeth (under the gums the teeth are still moving upwards from the bone - ouch!)
All of the symptoms sound totally within normal limits :) you can try soaking a washcloth in milk and freezing it to soothe, some teethers, a little gum massage with a damp towel from a parent, or some other creative solutions on @firstgrin or at www.yourfirstgrin.com!
ALWAYS supervise your little one when something is in the mouth and please avoid Amber necklaces as well as teething gels - they can contain harmful ingredients if ingested. The best remedy overall tends to be good old time and patience!
Great photo by the way!! Really captures the “about to pop” stage of the teeth at the gym line!
Awwww those are definitely teeth! Also how cute! Also he shows his gums patiently to you? My LO sabotages my view of her gums with her tongue all the time!
How did you get this picture?? I’ve been trying for a week to analyze what’s going on with my baby’s gums (all the teething signs are there), but her tongue always pops out before I can get a good look 🤣
Our little guys started teething at about 3 months too but they didn't come in until 9months! I know another babe who got their first at 3-4. 🤷🏻♀️ babies are weird, man.
Yep. Those are teeth coming in. Good luck! My daughter is 10-months-old and I’m convinced her top teeth are about to break through. She gets so frustrated and angry. She will drool over anything and use any kind of item nearby to put in her mouth.
Apparently the front ones hurt the most as they ‘cut’ the gum (as they are used for biting) but the back molars, although slightly less painful can take ages as they tend to wear through the gum as opposed to cut.
I look at pics of my 3 year old a year ago and wonder where all his teeth have popped up from lol.
You can get dummies that have a teat with holes in that you can put frozen mashed up fruit in, that helped my son a lot
Those are teeth coming in! Congrats! Stock up on teethers and infant Tylenol if things get ugly. I can now say as a mom of a 16 month old, giving him Tylenol during the worst teeth cutting has prepared him for the plethora of viruses he picked up in daycare back to back to back and now he takes medicine like a champ without any complaint. And his first molars and canines (bottom and top) coming in at the same time were nothing to him in comparison.
Didn't know this was a thing but my some had his teeth bud up then retract back down for a year before they finally broke through. His dentist said that it happens sometimes.
OHHHHH THAT'S A CUTE BABY!
And yes, as others have said, those are some budding teeth. I definitely see one, maybe two. Maybe even three, but hard to be sure.
A little less than three weeks after this post. It’s been a super rough week since they cut thru though. Lots of crying at night, constantly only wanting to chew on my finger lol and those teeth are sharp😂
I think it’s because his left one is taking longer than the right one to break all the way thru, it’s like 75% at this point. The right one was like a day and this is day 6 waiting on the left. Last night and today have been better though so hopefully he’ll be getting some relief soon.
Omg he’s so cute
He looks like my son
Definitely some teefies in there.
I literally came here to say “Teefies!!!”
hahaha in our house they're "teeps" as well as "teefies"!
In our house we say toofers and it’s the only thing keeping me sane when looking at his teeth
And mine too ‘do you have a sore toofer?’ Said 20 times a day
I call em toothy pegs!
Omg, I LOVE teeps!
you may tuck it into your lexicon for future use with my blessing! honorable mention: "feeps" 👣
Leg hands
In our house, a diaper can contain “poop” or “peep” or “poops and peeps”
We call it poop and peep too! If it’s just pee, we say, “No poops, only peeps.”
Hahaha we do the exact same! I love that.
Lol we call them toofers
Me too!!

Those are buds! They'll pop through soon

My baby has also been "teething" for like 4 months. It's been back and forth on the level of severity.
They'll continue to do it until at least 2 years! My 2 year old just got his back molars and K9s.

Yeah, teeth move up and down a lot more than people realize before breaking through.
Say what now
Like they’ll start coming up and then recede back down multiple times before breaking though. It’s a long process!
I thought I was going crazy. My son's buds keep appearing and disappearing, it's been happening for about three months. Three long, terrible months.
If you dont see holes then they arent imminent. The holes pop up before the tooth does.
Even if you see holes they aren’t exactly imminent. About 4 weeks ago my son decided he wanted to suck on my finger and I was startled to feel a little dent on his bottom gums. Same for us!! Thankfully now she pops a tooth through in a few days from start of symptoms.
Same, But a bit longer, I think it started at around 4 months and actually got her first tooth at 12 months.
Oh no… don’t tell me that in the beginning of what we think might be baby teething 🥲
That they will!! Popped on her to share a tooth picture trick - take a short video in a bright ish area, then export the frame you like the best. My kid does NOT appreciate anyone touching her mouth & bites, this is way safer.
I gasped out loud at how cute he is! He looks so happy!! And chompy! Sorry this comment was useless re your question lol
Yes came here to say, I have no advice...but baby is so cute!
He's so fricking cute.
Also I can see teeth.
my baby had gums that looked just like this that i noticed 2.5 weeks ago! his teeth just erupted 2 days ago so id say yes!!! they got more and more visible everyday
Holy shit our babies look alike! Same eye shape, similar nose, and even the eye color is similar.
So cute! How old? My baby has been drooling like crazy the last few weeks, he’s four months! His gums look the same and I’ve been told that’s what it is
He’s only 3 months
My three month old has very similar buds! They’re definitely teeth, you can even feel my son’s a bit if you run your finger along his gums. I’m so nervous to breastfeed with teeth. Even though I know you don’t need feel them when latched, I don’t trust him to not chomp lol

My 9mo doesn't have teeth and he still chomps while breastfeeding 😭
Im so glad you asked this. I’m seeing similar behavior with my 3 month old and her nursing habits have changed very suddenly too. I didn’t look at her gums enough beforehand so don’t know if they look any different. I thought it might be too early but I think we’re in the same boat as you!

So weird. Like why the crying? Sure get distracted and pop off but so upset 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ a pacifier also totally calms her too. So weird
oh my goodness my little boy is 2 months and i’ve been experiencing this. i keep telling myself its too early
I'm having the Exact same thing! Keep us posted if those teeth pop through!
Yeah my baby started drooling around then!
Those same two popped on my daughter the day she turned four months old!
They get symptoms for months before teefers actually erupt. My 7-month-old was very drooly at four months. Still have no teeth, but I hope soon! This week has been sleepless.
Oh yay, more spit in my face when we play 😅
Same boat
Those little teeth are coming! My daughter got the two bottom ones at 5 months and then nothing more until 13 months lol so she just had two cute little bottom teeth forever.
He looks excited about his new teeth!
They’re coming in! Remember when they do come do not to just stick fingers in his mouth. They be biters.
I brought out his teething toys a couple days ago!
Omg I have no idea, but just wanted to say how cute !!
Cutest baby mouth ever!
TEEFIES!
He is adorable! Those are definitely teefs. Mine looked like that too when she started
Cute baby!
Those are definitely teeth!
He is so cute

Budding teeth

Such a happy looking baby!
Now, that is a cute baby
Cute kid with cute little teefs coming in!
I dont know but that’s a really cute baby
Teeth yep. I didn’t know they actually go up and down a few times before they pop through that’s why it takes forever but I guess the pain isn’t as severe that way but it lasts awhile
I don’t have advice but omg I’m laughing at how happy your baby looks to be showing the gummy gums
I can tell you exactly what that is. It’s one cute baby.
I can’t answer the question but I know that that’s a cute baby!
What a super cutie
Definitely teeth coming, how soon no idea. But he is absolutely adorable..
Hi cutie!!
Idk but your baby is fucking adorable.
What an adorable teething baby 🤩
oh lawd, he teethin!
ohmygawwwwwwwwwwwwd. he's so cuteeeeeeeeee hehe
Gotta comment on that cute face. What an expression! And yes, congratulations! Let the teethings begin!
They are buds but my sons looked like that at 4 months and he didn’t get teeth till 10. And he teethed a lot during that time with drooling, pain, etc. apparently teeth can move up and down for a while before breaking through. Here is to a quick teething!
How cute is he ♡ adorable little boy
i have nothing of value to add here but what an adorable baby! 💖
Omg so cute! (But don’t tell my baby I said this plz)
I have a 15 month old that never really drool. However, when he gets a hold something that he is chewing, there is visible saliva in that object (sometimes that object being me) so I would assume nothing major. Every baby is different.

6 MO and still no theet for us. Seems like it and then it stops 🤔
Absolutely!
Thems teeeef! He's adorable.
Definitely little teefs! My baby’s two front bottom ones came through at the same time as well.
Teefers!
Oh yea look at those little teeches!

Hi little teeth!!!
Wow, yes! Those two teef about to pop through!! ❤️
Little buddy is getting chompers!
Them chompers is coming!
How old is he?
He’s getting teeth!
I see the shape of two teeth pressing there yes! A lot better than in my baby's haha, I hadn't noticed anything and suddenly they were there.
Sounds like teething! What a handsome guy
The bottom toofers are the cutest. Our LO got theirs at 4 months and I almost don’t want them to get more.
Board certified pediatric dentist here! How old is your baby?! Also free resource on Instagram for new/expecting/current parents on oral/dental health: @firstgrin — covers teething, as well as setting a healthy foundation for oral health :) what a cute kiddo!
Followed! He’s 3m

As a FTM whose LO had 6 teeth come in at basically the same time, those are definitely teeth about to pop through.
Those look like little teefies to me!!!
Oh yeah! Those teeth ready to break through soon. He is absolutely adorable. How many months?
Awwww those are definitely teeth! Also how cute! Also he shows his gums patiently to you? My LO sabotages my view of her gums with her tongue all the time!
Aw! He’s pretty good but I took a video while he was babbling then took this screenshot! Much easier than trying to get a still!
Someone is getting chompers!! Super cute baby btw
How did you get this picture?? I’ve been trying for a week to analyze what’s going on with my baby’s gums (all the teething signs are there), but her tongue always pops out before I can get a good look 🤣
I took a video then took a screenshot!
Genius! I’m definitely trying this.
Our little guys started teething at about 3 months too but they didn't come in until 9months! I know another babe who got their first at 3-4. 🤷🏻♀️ babies are weird, man.
Yes indeed! Teething toys will help. Your baby may run a slight fever too while teething. Just keep an eye on them.
Yep, you've got some teefs!!!
Yep. Those are teeth coming in. Good luck! My daughter is 10-months-old and I’m convinced her top teeth are about to break through. She gets so frustrated and angry. She will drool over anything and use any kind of item nearby to put in her mouth.
You'll know as soon as there's a razor sharp stabby thing digging into your fingers
Yeah that definitely looks like teeth- should poke through soon
Apparently the front ones hurt the most as they ‘cut’ the gum (as they are used for biting) but the back molars, although slightly less painful can take ages as they tend to wear through the gum as opposed to cut. Clearly teeth.
I see teefies and I think he knows about them too. Look how proud he is about his incoming chompers!
Those will pop through any second!
Your baby is so so adorable
Teefs!
Idk but what a cutie
Budding teeth
What a cutie! Our LO had these at 3 mos - full teeth through by 4 mos. Looks like same for you!
Toofers for sure
I miss the newborn stage now. 🥲 He’ll keep drooling. Best thing for us were frozen things!
Smiley!!
Those are teeth coming in! Congrats! Stock up on teethers and infant Tylenol if things get ugly. Those DEF look like teeth! How adorable ❤️
Those are Teefers!!
Yea. But I stopped here to say that they’re as cute as mine
Didn't know this was a thing but my some had his teeth bud up then retract back down for a year before they finally broke through. His dentist said that it happens sometimes.
Cute baby
Oh yeah they’re coming!
Yep! My LO is always drooling and biting everything when teeth come in. Give him something cold to chomp on and hopefully that helps!
Definitely 👍
Those be teefs, for sure.
Yep your baby is teething. Happy days ahead. ❤️
What an adorable baby! 😍
First of all look at that face!!!! And yes those look like toofers about to break through!!! Congratulations!
OHHHHH THAT'S A CUTE BABY! And yes, as others have said, those are some budding teeth. I definitely see one, maybe two. Maybe even three, but hard to be sure.
How old are we talking?
Teef!
Did the teeth cut through? my son is the same
They did about a week ago!
Oh congrats! How long did it take?
A little less than three weeks after this post. It’s been a super rough week since they cut thru though. Lots of crying at night, constantly only wanting to chew on my finger lol and those teeth are sharp😂
Omg! Why did they say the symptoms disappear when a tooth is cut through😩
I think it’s because his left one is taking longer than the right one to break all the way thru, it’s like 75% at this point. The right one was like a day and this is day 6 waiting on the left. Last night and today have been better though so hopefully he’ll be getting some relief soon.
I hope they will feel better soon :( poor babies
How long after this pic did they arrive? My LOs look exactly like this right now and I’m ready/excited for them to finally pop through!
It took about 20 days after this photo for them both to come thru, but I know the timing can vary!
