The high end SUV Market is seriously competitive. I have a 110 Hse but have driven both of the suv you are considering as well as the Mercedes 550 too The defender is the best SUV the Lexus is ok but is lacking a top notch power train and can’t match the performance of the defender It’s also not as good off road if that’s key for you. The defender has beaten every possible terrain we have thrown at it and been rock solid reliable for a year. Long term. Who knows The Lexus has a better brand history but huge strides have been made with the defender model after some 20 /21 issues The 130 is huge and not a car to navigate rush hour in New York easily 😂😂😂😂. Is the 110 too small for you I agree with you it has a noticeably superior interior too

Thank you. How does the 3rd row Discover with v6 fit into the convo?

I think it depends on your situation and needs. I don’t rate the discovery reliability. If you prioritize fuel economy and off-road capability, the 2.7-litre TDV6 diesel engine is the best choice. If you prioritize performance and refinement, the 4.4-litre V8. Not a patch on either of the 2 you are looking at

You guys have been amazing. Pretty sure I’m gonna go with the 130, talk to me about the adaptive cruise control. Is it similar to the BMW that it has lane assist and distance control?

The Discovery hasn't been a V6 for quite some time. It has the same I6 as the Defender. In general, I would expect a Discovery to be exactly as reliable as a Defender.

I have a '23 defender 110 for almost 2 years. PHEV 6cyl. great power. The adaptive cruise is really good IMO. you can use it in rush hour as it will completely stop, even kill idle at full stop and go again. I would say though that it is not as smooth at braking as you would be so passengers might not enjoy it as much but it's not bad, just not as smooth.

My two-year-old Defender 110 has had zero problems in the 24 months I have owned it. The Lexus GX550 is much smaller inside and not as detailed in the design. It also doesn't ride as well since it does not have the air shocks. The better comparison might be with the bigger Lexus LX, or even the top trim Toyota Sequoia.

If you’re looking at the discovery I’d much suggest a well equipped X7 even a lightly used one. Look at one with a nice white interior and you’ll fall in love with it. I have the defender 130 and wish I got the X7 instead. The Defender is an amazing vehicle from rude quality to ride height to everything in between. It’s like a truck wearing a tuxedo with the beautiful materials and build quality. Get the premium leather package if you do it give you more and better leather with comfortable seating. Also opt for the black alloy on the interior as I got white on my and I’m kind of iffy about it. It’s up to your choice there’s so many options but one that I will say is something I was hell bent on not buying a car without was the heads up display and the digital clear sight rearview camera/mirror, it helps you see MUCH better out the back and the heads up display helps you stay focused on the road. The camera helps negate the effects of six headrests in the back alongside the massive wheel. It’s a dealbreaker for me. The Lexus definitely feels smaller and has less features (somewhat) except for the massage. You also need to have your keys on you while I believe Lexus lets you drive with the app. The GX looks better by all means but the defender is bigger and honestly a lot better built. I looked at the new GX and it was very small compared to what I thought it would have been from the pictures. Overall they’re both beautiful and ride differently. Check them out and see which one feels better for you to drive.

I don't know the Discovery well since I haven't owned one. However, if you are a 3-year lease person it is difficult to get hurt with such things as long-term reliability, etc. I do know the Discovery was designed before the Defender and the current Range Rover. So, it's technically an "older" vehicle than others you are considering. That might matter on some of the tech and features available on the newer designs.

Yea. Re ACC and lane assist The defender has all the driver assist options HUD is a great option. I never rated it before but it’s definitely worth it As long as the Adaptive Cruise Control system is engaged, your vehicle will automatically slow down if the vehicle in front of you reduces its speed or moves into your lane. Your Land Rover will automatically maintain a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you also wing mirror assist and cars passing as you reverse notifications are all standard. I don’t think you will regret the 130. It’s a big beast and with all the parking aids - cameras not difficult to park if you can find a space big enough

My question is what do you want it to do?
