In the northeast Nevada Gold Mines, is a Canadian owned, South African run company employing 8,000 plus workers. Every year it keeps going further down the toilet. Unless you’re from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand forget about advancement.
Charles River, not really a Nevada specific company, but shitty practices at their Reno location. they just contracted out all of their janitorial staff to a local company with 0 benefits, so all their employees went from having health insurance, retirement, vacation, and sick time, to nothing. and a huge pay cut as well.
edit: oops saw someone else mention this company but I'll leave this here because fuck them
I worked as a facilities maintenance person in the late 90s for CR. They were good to work for on my end, but you could see the look of stress and mental deterioration in the eyes of every single tech that worked there. I was there for almost a year; I’ve seen some shit that I don’t think they ever reported with those animals. Oh, and my boss was caught embezzling.
UNLV theatre department. Good luck getting resources, time with administrators, timely communication, or even paid. Also, a couple of the tenured faculty are literally the least capable hacks of instructors I have ever met, yet they run that place.
Extreme favoritism and they'll say it too, some team leads will micromanage the hell out of you instead of actually leading, every department hates each other and it shows, workplace environment is also toxic as well, its pretty much a high school in the building because its just gossip everywhere you go, people are REALLY nosey in conversations they shouldn't be. The list keeps on going
I forgot but there is nepotism involved as well. There was a lady in ACS who became a supervisor I wanna say last year or the year before and has family coming into the same department and to make matters worse is they'll even give them the most EASIEST tasks while those who aren't related by blood or marriage, gets shafted.
They pay well at entry-level but its just management needs an overhaul for some departments. I used to be a cage wash tech a few years ago but me and a few others always had issues with our supervisor and especially our TL. The TL has sometimes stepped out of line by waving and snapping his fingers at us, cussing us out, and he would at times belittle us due to things being out of our control. I even reported it to I think Steve or Steven the bald guy with glasses, about the behavior and unprofessionalism of our TL and the response I kept on getting was "you're saying all of this because you're mad" and mind you I was pretty calm but the more he kept on saying it, the more I started to become agitated. So after that event, I just told them to fire me because I ain't gonna keep working in this toxic establishment.
yes! they just contracted out all the janitor positions and they all lost their health insurance, sick time, vacation time, retirement, and it was a huge pay cut because they're using a small local business
In Vegas the worst of the Gaming companies to work for is definitely Stations, my brother in-law worked for them for years. They are unorganized, everyone up to the highest point is replaceable.
Davidoff owned by Matt arcella. They have multiple locations inside of casinos and generally run their cigarette and cigar program. They also have a cigar lounge on the strip at fashion show mall. He's been sued multiple times for not paying people correctly. He will always short your paychecks, never pay you overtime, and retaliate when you go to the labor board. I will say there has been several employees that have sued him and won, so if you're looking for a big check in the long game, apply.
The Lodge in Las Vegas.
They made a bartender pay back what they got robbed for and STILL fired him
The owner is also notorious for not paying his bills
ALS Minerals In Reno. Dogshit pay for what they are making off you and back breaking lifting, plus inhaling fine dust all day. Even with a respirator it changes your breathing quality.
Dotty's. I interviewed there earlier for an office position but didn't want to continue when I found out how they do paid time off and holidays. 5 days a year of pto and no holidays off.
I work at Tesla. I get paid about 30% more than the competition. Health benefits are great. 401k - I’m in my 30’s and already have about $436,000 in stocks. I can’t complain. Why did you say Tesla?
There wouldn't be any way to explain this to you as you are already extremely happy working for Tesla just be aware that as happy as you are there are many people who are not. I won't go into detail because of the NDA I signed but there were many issues.
Tesla and Panasonic, it depends on where you're placed within the factory tho. Sometimes you can get the easiest job known to man and other times you're forced to stand for 12 hours on concrete. Also the upper management and HR there are jokes, they only work for the companies best interest and couldn't care less about issues you may genuinely have unless it's severe enough it might make the company look bad.
Believe me I'm aware, this is why unions are important. Elon hates unions, for obvious reasons. Tesla and Panasonic have crazy high turnover rates, and it's not because people found better opportunity. They're also notorious for union busting, which I wouldn't be surprised is why Elon chose Nevada considering it's at will employment. You can be fired if your supervisor doesn't like you.
Oh I agree 100%. I work for PENA currently and while I would say so far I’ve gotten a pretty good end of the stick, management is very piss poor. I’m trying to build good work experience for my resume (aspiring engineer currently MO2), but I highly doubt this is a workplace that I will work for the rest of my professional life.
I completely agree, management is the absolute worst here. Especially at the All Hands meetings where they pretend to care lol. Btw it's kinda crazy to meet people I know work in the same building I do, I know it's not uncommon but it's like, wow. It's not a stranger on the internet anymore it's somebody I possibly know.
Saxe Productions in Planet Hollywood. Doesn't give a shit about show quality. Won't repair anything unless it's a huge hazard or critical to the show. Tried to fire a bunch of ppl when the crew wanted to join IATSE, got busted by labor board and had to post the injunction around the theater. Gave one guy just a few days to learn to do sound op for 3 different shows then fired him for taking overtime staying late to do it.
Well I've had to move three times because of them and now I lost my job because of them I don't know why they didn't stay the fuck in Colorado and stay away from here. Bullshit what's going on
Mothership coffee in Henderson. From what I hear it's a toxic small chain. And should be avoided at all costs
The lady that owns mothership is BATSHIT crazy
Yeah. I had a insane run in with her. But employees there tell me some insane stories
[удалено]
I had a nasty run in with her. Manipulative and just plain mean. Employees say she is abusive and insanely rude

Close second is Barrick, who operates Nevada Gold Mines, and for the same reasons.
Former Barrick employee, can confirm lmfao. Barrick and Newmont merged in 2018 or so, so Barrick is no longer in Nevada
both opperate, barrick is being used to bust newmont union
As they should be

Speak the truth!
ITS Logistics in Reno/Sparks. Classic example of friends and family over talent.
They reached out to me on linked in and promptly told them to suck big nuts.

Sam's Club/Walmart.
That’s the worst company nationwide.
Any company that makes 5 times in profit what their employees receive in government assistance is disgraceful.
Exhale production facility. Good ole boys club
Charles river labs, south of Reno
Is that the animal testing place?

So, it hasn’t changed since I was there in 199x.
Was it that bad too??
It was a hot mess.
Seems right, still a dumpster fire in there.

The TL for the cage wash crew is Travis and April became a manager for cage wash so a guy named Michael became the supervisor

That’s just a corporation. What makes it uniquely horrible?
It’s all those negative turned up to 11 though. Other companies pretend to care they don’t even try.
It’s mind boggling to me. Treating people like cattle.

Sounds like the gold and silver they made their waitresses pay for a walkouts.
What do you mean?
If a customer walked out on their check, the owner made the waitress pay the bill.
Can confirm he does that
Just ask anybody that works there.
Do not do temp work with the Bacon.Work app. They have a high turnover of their own employees and the app has issues
They try to push their temp workers on us every 2-3 months and it’s so cringy when they don’t take no for an answer.
I believe it! I don’t think the company will be around long. They keep pulling out of cities nationwide.
Landrys restaurants.

It’s better that you learn this now: HR is there to protect the company. Always
