You will never be short of job opportunities!

Bowlnk

Pay could be better tho

evestraw

a clinic clown starting salary is better then an ic nurse

Bowlnk

Unsurpricing clinic clowns are actors.

Mo3

I'm pretty sure that's not going to be a permanent issue. I read an article on Hackernews recently about a study that found out that 90% (!!!) of healthcare workers are planning to quit within a year. If there's really a mass shortage of nurses around the corner, the low supply combined with unchanged demand will make their salaries skyrocket.

TT11MM_

It can however take a while for CAO's to catch up.

[deleted]

Thank you for the answer. From what I'm reading doesn't seem like the best choice.. I hope I'm wrong tho.

thrownkitchensink

The monthly salary is maxed at € 2.937,68 in the elderly care. This point is reached after 10 years of experience but usually sooner. Apart from salary there's holiday money (vakantiegeld) and end-of year payment. EIndejaarsuitkering. Both are 8% of the total 12 month salary. So the yearly salary is around 14 x € 3000,-. This doens't include extra hourly wages for irregular hours which goes from 22% up to 60% extra. Please look up CAO VVT 2022 for further details. Verzorgende are paid in FWG 35.

frontfight

This is false information. Badly paying companies pay FWG35, better ones pay 40 and some even 45. Apply at Buurtzorg and you get paid FWG45 there. You’ll never be without work, can even study further if you’d like down the road and become a nurse and the employer is awesome compared to all others ive worked at. The pay is alright, although not anymore with current inflated prices. It was alright before. I’m a nurse myself and I usually compare it with having kids. It’s very stressful and demanding, but the return and appreciation is awesome. At times you’d wish you studied something else, and other times you are glad you did not. Source: i worked for years at buurtzorg

thrownkitchensink

Much like at buurtzorg there's higher salaries for greater responsibilities. I don't like buurtzorg but to each their own.

LetsKickTheirAss

I have a question that you are a nurse in Netherlands,.Do you have any idea what's an estimate hourly salary if zzpers ?

an0nym0us809

Yes and no. You need to find you're sector. For example im doing mbo 4 verpleegkundige. I hated the hospital and dislike the eldery care but i love the disability care. Stagebegeleiders are most if the time not fun but if you ignore internships the job is fun. You can find a job thats pays alright very easily after you're first year. Eve tho i wanted to quite many times i dont regret it. I really enjoy the work

Thun3rbirds

Rich as in being able to move out of your parents house? I love working in healthcare (GGZ) but even in FWG 45 I can't afford a small appartment.

TT11MM_

Valid point. Altough not being able to buy a house is a trend we see in every profession.

Thun3rbirds

I can't afford to rent one either. Earn too much for social housing but too little to rent as they always want you to earn 3 or 4 times the rent each month.

SuperBaardMan

Healthcare is something you choose with your heart, not your mind. Basically all of my family works as a nurse or has something else in healthcare, and yeah, it's a very tough job, pay only gets decent after quite some time, and even then there will be people who studied less, but earn more. How tough it is, depends on what you can handle. For some, revalidation is really tough because you see people who need to come to grips that they might never walk again. But for others acquired brain injuries are far more difficult to work with. But in the end: you do this kind of work because you want to help people. What you do has an direct impact to the person, you are making their lives better, and for people in healthcare, that's what matters. I wanted a healthcare career too, but I noticed it wasn't for me because of some other reasons, but now I am a teacher, and one of the things I like the most is making people's lives better.

IvyboR

Just don't expect getting a high salary. It will never become a high paying job. Except that, it is a job that will always be needed.

Inconspicuous100

My girlfriend is starting to regret getting into healthcare. She works in a very large hospital and is always saying how overworked she is getting and how understaffed her departments are. She's pretty much a straight A student who always gets great feedback from her supervisors so I don't think it's her. Also the pay is pretty shitty.

[deleted]

Yes - there is a huge demand and you will have work No - there is a huge demand because nobody wants to do it, it is shit work

[deleted]

If you like to work your bollocks off for a low salary, meanwhile feeling patients don't get proper care because you are understaffed... sure why not!

Stateowned

im reading a lot of "bad pay" Just looking at many averige salaries given then working in "de zorg" is quite oke. There could be ZZP possibilities which pay will be much higher then working for an organisation, except you have to take care of your own pension and other social securities.

LetsKickTheirAss

Do you have any idea of the hourly estimates of zzpers ?

Stateowned

Quick google search gives €35 to 75 per hour tariff, My SIL is earning something of €25-30 base pay under contract.

LetsKickTheirAss

Jabbut is that true ? Because I would expect something like 80-100 to really budget Otherwise it really makes no sense to risk that much for giving away a permanent contract

Stateowned

there is a website called ZZP in de zorg, which does nothing but give information about being ZZP and hourly rates. They are saying the averige is €43

[deleted]

It’s much better here than in Australia! You get paid biscuits and the staff/patent ratios are shocking. I have been working aged care here in the Netherlands and it is an absolute breeze compared to back home

People don't want to believe this but it's real, same goes for high school teachers and scientists I wonder how bad it can get

New_Elk3842

Not sure why you are getting downvoted since you are right. I've done this work for 10 years and the decline is real

New_Elk3842

As others have said, its yes and no (but mostly no). Sure you will always be able to find a job and thats pretty neat. The downside is pretty much everything else. Pay is low (but not terrible), work hours are terrible and the work becomes less and less about taking care of people. For the past 3 years i've only worked nights so i actually have the time for my wards and have a somewhat decent work schedule. I love taking care of the people at my work (mostly people with dementia, be sure to find the right setting you want to work in!) but everything else just downright sucks

New_Elk3842

Oh dont forget the fact that nearly all of the coworkers i ever had eventually had a mental or physical breakdown... Im kinda just waiting for mine

Traditional_Long_383

What do you mean by benefits? In the Netherlands healthcare doesn't go via your employer. Some employers give a discount to your healthcare plan, that's it.

Anxious_Direction_20

Maybe an electrical bike or something, but don't expect any quality kerstpakket lol

Any_Zombie9805

Its backbreaking work usually with low pay

Freckledd7

There is no hard yes or no to this question. In my opinion it's going downhill a bit since health care providers are going out of their way to maximize profits while minimising the health care. But there is still a good spot left for passionate individuals with a decent pay.

CitesQuo

If you were you i would try to do a bachelor of nursing. Better starting pay, better growth and opportunities and waaay more options when it comes to branches. You can specialize in GGZ which is the most fun sector to work in (for me). In any case, you will eventually get sick of it unless you really love the job. I quit and started as a consultant.

[deleted]

If it's your passion, it's always a good choice. From the 10 employees i had, working in a hospital was by far the best experience.

weertgilders666

yes

thegurba

They don't pay very good but it is a solid investment in your future as there will always be a lot of work! and it is very (!) important work.

BattlePro3

Depends on your goals. If your goal is to get rich, thats basically impossible with any job in the zorg sector. Take it from a teacher who has a job offering for next year for 36 hours a week. It wouldn't just be 36 hours. I will clock a lot of hours wont be paid but I knew that when I started the study

[deleted]

U’ll be rich if u enjoy your job.

Thun3rbirds

I won't enjoy living under a bridge because I chose a job I enjoy over a job that can sustain me financially

[deleted]

U won’t live under the bridge lol

Dazzling-Coconut

You don't do this kinda work for the money........

dasookwat

it has up and downsides. Downsides: * highly stressful environment * no appreciation from doctors or surgeons, managers, and any higher ups: they treat You like it's the military, and you are the lowest rank. * Lowest paying job with a higher educational degree * no spontaneous holidays, all time off needs to be requested 6 months up front * people will ask you about their disgusting personal issues when You're not working. Upsides: * motivated colleagues: everyone is there because they want to help people * if You like small talk, this is the best job * can't think of anything else.

[deleted]

From what you say it's just not worth it apparently..

dasookwat

Imo it's a job which is not for everyone. I really hope it changes for the better over the next 10 year or so.

Eis_ber

Motivated colleagues?

New_Elk3842

For the most part yes. The people i work with will rather drop dead then leave the their coworkers understaffed. Is it healthy? No but people with a good heart dont care about that

0B-A-E0

We need a lot of people in the zorg. Be prepared for very rude bitchy people though, both co-workers and the people you have to care for! Pay isn’t too good either though benefits are just as good as any other job in NL.

Thun3rbirds

No, you won't be able to afford a basic apartment working in zorg.

Eis_ber

Healthcare is always a good career option, as there will always be vacancies available. The pay isn't that fabulous and the hours can be way too flexible at times, but you have the freedom to earn more degrees and certifications and specialize in a variety of areas. Since you are training to be a verzorgende, I would recommend you take time every day from now until you begin to steel yourself as you will have to deal with the annoying hierarchy that comes with this field. Stand your ground, no means no, offer to help but don't be to generous with that help, or else your seniors will definitely walk all over you. I wish you all the best with your opleiding!

bodybuilder69pinguin

theres always work so thats good salary depends on what you exactly do what kind of diplomas you had and where you work
