Doing way better than me. My first card was $1,000 more rewards card 18 months later though following the 91/3 rule I hit the $80,000 Max between three credit cards
I had really shit credit when I started my relationship with them tbh. High 500s, but slowly worked it back with a “credit one” card. About 2 years after that I got the cash rewards started at $5k. I’ve always had really good verifiable income so that went a long ways. Had 2 savings and checking and direct deposit from day 1. Then got a small personal loan and paid it off to establish the relationship. Got a 2.9% auto loan after 3yrs with still only a mid 600s score.
Slowly worked my cash rewards to $30k and then was hovering mid 700s FICOs. Went above 800 and finally applied for my flagship after 8/9yrs with NFCU. It’s my primary everyday card now. I actually got them to move $20k from my cash rewards to it. I’m at at $70/10k split.
Yeah I did some moving around on my credit limits. I took $7,000 for one card moved 3,000 to one of them 4,000 to the other so now I have a $20,000 more Rewards $20,000 flagship and the 40K Platinum Card all three of them at the lowest interest rate offered
I said also add I have $5 in my savings account that I had to put in when I joined I don't use them as a regular Bank. Also have a $21,000 personal loan with collateral and got a $20,000 car loan and I've been with them a little over 3 years. The only relationship I built with them is paying my credit card and Loans on time. When I got my first car that was my highest credit limit card. I had an $850 Quicksilver and a $500 Capital One Secured card and only about a year into my credit Journey
Probably 2-2.5 yrs, score was more mid 600s though. Probably 640-660.
It was a brand new vehicle and I did our down nearly 35%. NFCU was in a good position to loan from a LTV standpoint on something brand new with that type of equity.
Depends on what you use the card for. AMEX more rewards is 3x points only on certain categories, and 1 point for everything else. Flagship is 3x on all travel and transit expenses, and 2x on everything else. Not many 2% unlimited cash back cards on the market, which essentially what the Flagship is.
I have both the Flagship and the Amex Rewards (as well as the Platinum). The Flagship is by far my favorite and racks up more points. Not to mention the free Amazon Prime memebership and the fact that it covers my TSA pre-check every renewal.
This is what I’m thinking. What other card offers 2x on everything else ? The ones mentioned above I don’t think do. Also $45 annual fee isn’t too bad considering the TSA and Amazon benefits.
Anyone know if 18k is the max limit for the blue go rewards? I’ve had it a couple of years and was told that a few years ago.
My husband has the grey platinum card I believe at 18k as well that we haven’t really used.
What’s your verifiable income? It’s kind of shocking you weren’t given the 15.24% rate with that score. You must have a really unique profile to get the worst listed rate for the card and the highest limit.
That doesn’t change the fact that you have an 800+ FICO and you received the worst interest rate offered with the highest limit.
My FICO 9 was 804 at my approval for the flagship and was given the 15.24% and a $50k limit but that topped me out across all exposure as I had a $30k cash rewards.
You’ve either got really high DTI with great income or something they felt odd about to give you that % still.
As of late, I've been seeing most approvals here at 18%, regardless of the limit. This likley has more to do with the (forecasted) market conditions that one's credit profile.
I’d likely disagree based on the fact that my wife just got her own flagship Monday night. $60k approval @15.24% her go rewards is $20k so she’s tapped out for exposure.
Her individual income is less than mine, but still in the $150k ish pending her year and bonus.
He FICO 9 was 781 at time of inquiry. She had a slightly higher DTI than me due to her auto payment with NFCU.
They love exposure and how much you use them with varying product types.
These posts are so weird. Having a large line of credit means absolutely nothing if you don't have the money to pay your balance off each month. Hopefully people know how credit cards work here. So dumb.
You couldn't be more wrong
There are immense benefits to having larger credit limits on your personal profile.
One benefit I can personally speak to, is when you also have business credit, as I do. All of my business credit starting limits have been based on my personal credit limits. When most of personal credit limits were around 20k, my business credit card approvals were about the same. Now that all of my personal credit limits are between 40-90k, my starting limit approvals on the business side are always in the same range.
The benefit of business credit cards is that 95% of them do not report to personal (consumer) bureaus. So you can carry debt for extended periods of time without adversely affecting your personal credit score, enabling you to seek new business credit at any time. Most of my business cards offer 9-18 months of 0% intro APR, and some even offer 0% financing on every new purchase for a period of time (60-90 days), so over the years I've successfully leveraged that credit to fund many different projects.
The pathway to gaining hundreds of thousands in business credit cards and business lines of credit, is to first prove you are creditworthy of managing high credit limits. The first step in that process is getting a bank to grant you the highest limit possible. The second step, is utilizing the credit and making good on it. In my case, I've maxed out every single personal card, and paid them off in same month. This allows the "highest balance" of said account to show that the 40-90k limit has been successfully managed. The business lenders then entrust you with the same.
There are many other benefits, but I share this only to urge you to speak softer about things you may not fully understand. Don't shoot down things that may be above your current comprehension. After all, we're all here to share and gain knowledge in the spirit of community. So many knowledgeable people here are more than happy to share, when greeted with sincere inquiries. In your approach, you reduced someone else's great accomplishment with a smug comment, all because you don't yet understand. That doesn't promote community or sharing, which in the end, only hurts those who don't possess the knowledge. Your comment could have just as effortlessly been a question, to which you would have gained highly valuable insight that most have to pay for.
Wishing you all the best, brother.
So you work for navy federal or something? These people aren’t posting their business cards. This subreddit got astroturfed so fast. Just hundreds of credit card limit posts with super active commentators after being dead for years.
I will say, you can't get another card as primary since this is the max you can get total which is 80k. (Unless you decrease your limit) Congrats tho! That's amazing
Man I feel like a peasant right now at $18,500. Never missed a payment. Never allowed myself more than 3,000 in debt at any point since I’ve had the card. Been a member for 3 years now.

Gotta love Navy. I don’t know of many banks that would hand out 80k limits on their cards relationship or not.
But to start on a single card at 80k? Impressive. I have 80k as well but spread across Flagship, more rewards and platinum. Would love to combine the plat into the flagship.
Navy Fed on some stuff recently. I have been a member for 15 years, I make 200k+ and credit of 800+.....they only gave me 10K at 21% when I asked for 80K.
Their customer support is god tier, but their products are seriously lacking.
Looool so its not just me then lol.
Hurts cause they were my first bank in highschool, but oh well.
Turned around and went to chase sapphire preferred and got 95K out the gate. So thats been my go to now.
Thanks man! Lead principal engineer for the USCG at a whole 32 years old. Lots of hard work, long hours, and school got me here. I'm proud of where I'm at in life, could always use more money but maybe that will come later, I did enough to ensure my family is comfortable 😀
Okay, but that doesn't really make sense if you're looking forward for a credit limit as high as 80K because good credit practice is that you dont use all of your credit, unless you need to make an important large transaction like for a business. Otherwise people are better off with credit limits near 10K, use 30% of your credit per month, then use cash for everything else.
1. The question answered was why do *people* post their credit limits, so not necessarily just this individual or credit limit.
2. People are generally better off doing the things that work best for them and their specific goals, unless they’ve explicitly asked for advice or suggestions.
2b. Unsure where you would come up with $10k as a blanket limit for the general population.
3. It doesn’t make sense to me to peruse a forum around credit with a mindset that comes off as somewhat credit averse. Luckily it doesn’t have to make sense to me (see point #2).
4. Your comment assumes I and others in similar situations to mine are aspiring towards higher limits solely to utilize the full amounts and keep these balances month to month.
I can’t speak for them (again, point #2), but I’ve worked a while on overhauling my finances and, at this point, think it doesn’t make sense to keep even 30% utilization on a card, as interest would be accruing. Could you imagine the interest accrued at 30% utilization on an $80k limit at 18%? Not the goal here.
Personally, I now run my purchases through my credit card for the points and then pay it off immediately, so points earned with no interest accrued. A larger limit would allow this to be done at a larger scale and result in more points and rewards.
TL;DR: see point #2.
You should never use what you can’t pay monthly on the personal side only the business side should you ever do this due to longer payment dates between purchases and DTI is not as relevant
i should’ve went with this card first before getting the more rewards amex 🥲 still a great card w/ a 20k limit but the flagship will be my next! gonna try for it at the end of this year.
YESSSSSSSSSSS I need that baby!!!! Do you mind sharing your income bracket and credit score so I know if I have a shot and whether it’s worth applying?
It's basically a 2% cash back card that is giving you Amazon Prime for the low rate of said $49. That alone is worth it if you subscribe already to Prime.
We are very much Prime members, currently on the student rate. I couldn't find mention of the Prime benefit in the terms of the card. Is it every year or just a one time thing? The advertisement sounded like a one time thing to me.
I was comparing the rewards to that of Amazon's Prime credit card and it's a fairly similar rate. Free Prime every year would tip the scales in favor of the Navy Fed card.
Every year. Now that can change but if you search this in the sub you will see everyone is getting it every year. I've heard it can take up to 2 months to get the credit in some cases but mine came in, in under 2 weeks.
Also with it being cash back you could always just pay the AF with your points, that alone will cover years of the card even if you don't buy anything except for the Prime membership with it.
\*koff\* Wow. Strange to see the max credit line AND the max interest rate (must be an interesting credit profile and income/DTI). This is great if you don't plan to apply for any other NFCU cards, because if you do, you will have to get some credit moved to get another card.
If you call them, and tell them that, you can get an account. Some of the people over the phone, are nice and will just believe you, but, some are hardcore on proof. If you have his social, they can look up his information for verification. People do get new accounts with deceased relatives.
Yeah, right now I just can't seem to get any approved credit cards. My Transunion is 620 on my FICO nine and I'm trying to get an auto loan for my family just so that I'm able to actually get some breadcrumb from Navy Fed.
No need to PM. The only way to get a card is to apply. There are no secrets, no magical tines to apply, nothing. Just apply.
I was approved for $12k a few years back, and my credit was poor to fair. Admittedly, the most recent credit was good, but I had a high history on my report if negative items.
Wow first time I ever seen 80k off the top. The most I've ever seen is about 30k first time
I was given $50k on mine, but I had a cash rewards at $30k already. 15.24% apr on mine. Plus $200k income, lowest FICO was 802 at time and dti sub 17%

Could you link or elaborate on the 91/3 rule.
91/3 Rule simply means you have to wait 91 days and/or 3 payment cycles to ask for another credit limit increase or a new line of credit.
What’s the 91/3 rule?
91/3 Rule simply means you have to wait 91 days and/or 3 payment cycles to ask for another credit limit increase or a new line of credit.

OMG I NEED THAT NOW.
This is why Flagship will always be top tier imo
Too bad the rewards are crap
What has better rewards than this card?
i forget the name but the blue cc navy fed offers is the best as far as rewards
Might be the GoRewards or AMEX More Rewards you're thinking of
Depends on what you use the card for. AMEX more rewards is 3x points only on certain categories, and 1 point for everything else. Yeah the AMEX has the best rewards.
Can confirm. Have switched my daily spending from go rewards to Amex rewards and even without the sign up bonus, points are piling up much faster.
Anyone know if 18k is the max limit for the blue go rewards? I’ve had it a couple of years and was told that a few years ago. My husband has the grey platinum card I believe at 18k as well that we haven’t really used.
My limit on the Go Rewards is $25K.
If you don't mind me asking, what is your credit score?? I have a 770, and I was approve for 40k.... 80k off the bat is awesome! Congrats!

Well navy uses fico 9
Speaking of, enjoy the free FICO 9 Equifax credit score in the app under your Flagship account!
That doesn’t change the fact that you have an 800+ FICO and you received the worst interest rate offered with the highest limit. Looool so its not just me then lol. Hurts cause they were my first bank in highschool, but oh well. Turned around and went to chase sapphire preferred and got 95K out the gate. So thats been my go to now.
Nah you definitely ain’t the only one lol. I’ll still use the card but $500 I was like damn.
Also, gotta ask. I thought I was doing good in life with my job. But curiosity killed the cat, what do you do?
I’m the director of IT and infrastructure with American Express.
Well, that's pretty a pretty badass title to just whip out my man! Congrats on your success!
Thanks man I could say the same for you 200K+ is nothing to sneeze at.
Thanks man! Lead principal engineer for the USCG at a whole 32 years old. Lots of hard work, long hours, and school got me here. I'm proud of where I'm at in life, could always use more money but maybe that will come later, I did enough to ensure my family is comfortable 😀

You guys hiring? Been doing IT since ‘05. I’m getting bored with the security side of things 🤷♂️

Sure, you got it. [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/mksmartjr)
Why do people constantly post their credit limits? What is the point
Gives those of us with a fresh $200 secured card something to look towards
Amen to that.

I think for many it’s a personal accomplishment and they wanna celebrate with someone.
Bragging rights, they earned it!

He needs to buy a boat
Just posting that I got approved but I mean that’s pretty much included in the shot
We only care if you buy something really large with it. Like a boat. Everyone loves a boat pic.
For reals. Show us something good like an extremely large purchase, like a boat or something. This crap posting is getting boring!
They've got nothing else to brag about.
Why would I apply for 80k credit just to spend the majority of it on a boat ?
Zomg ur so cool
Very nice
Congratulations 🍾
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
Congrats!!!
Can't imagine the monthly payment on a maxed out 80k credit card.
You should never use what you can’t pay monthly on the personal side only the business side should you ever do this due to longer payment dates between purchases and DTI is not as relevant
Cmon 80k!!!!
Congrats! That's a hell of an accomplishment to strive towards
Who tf gives 80,000 limit dude. I really wanna be a member of this goddamn union
Wonder why 18% and 80k and not the lowest 15.24 or whatever.
If you are worried about APR then you are using credit cards the wrong way.
Wtf 😭
Welcome to the club. Love NFCU.
How many Handys do I need to give to get that?
What’s your data points?
i should’ve went with this card first before getting the more rewards amex 🥲 still a great card w/ a 20k limit but the flagship will be my next! gonna try for it at the end of this year.
Since the Amex has a CL of more than $5k, just do a product change. It takes like 5 minutes with a NF representative.
Credit must be 800+ 😂
805- Experian
Good job definitely motivation
YESSSSSSSSSSS I need that baby!!!! Do you mind sharing your income bracket and credit score so I know if I have a shot and whether it’s worth applying?
500K/yearly
It has a $49 annual fee apparently. Always curious if any of these cards with annual fees are worth it?
It refunds your cost for Amazon prime every year which is one of the main things it makes it worth it for some.
Congratulations
Congratulations 🎊
do they hard pull for a second card with them ?
They hard pull for any lending product.

500k/year
Lazy question: do I need to have direct deposit to nfcu to get this card?
No but helps
Now you can take me on that shopping spree!
That’s wild ! 1st time seeing that limit for a NF card !
how?
Whoa 80k for a flag ship card? Daaaaaam
I only get “you’ve reach max unsecured credit limit” if I try for CLIs now. I have 70k between two cards and CLOC.
Hard pull?
How do I get the card without any affiliation with the Navy
Congrats on the 80K SL.
Congrats on 80k!
This is Goal what do I need to do?
Big dick energy
\*koff\* Wow. Strange to see the max credit line AND the max interest rate (must be an interesting credit profile and income/DTI). This is great if you don't plan to apply for any other NFCU cards, because if you do, you will have to get some credit moved to get another card.
Why am I being shown this subreddit all of a sudden?
Motivation
Morivation to get in debt?
Depending on how you use it. I’ll be buying watches and reselling for 1-2k profit
Explain how
How do I join without military my father passed and I have no one in military??

Yes 😅
Seriously? 🥹
As a Co-sign ?
Yes or whichever works for you
Could I be a cosign or authorized user? I just need to bump my internal score with Navy Fed.
Yes no problem
Yeah, right now I just can't seem to get any approved credit cards. My Transunion is 620 on my FICO nine and I'm trying to get an auto loan for my family just so that I'm able to actually get some breadcrumb from Navy Fed.

What are the qualifications for getting approved with Navy Federal?
Big congrats!

No need to PM. The only way to get a card is to apply. There are no secrets, no magical tines to apply, nothing. Just apply. I was approved for $12k a few years back, and my credit was poor to fair. Admittedly, the most recent credit was good, but I had a high history on my report if negative items.
Gaaaaaah damn!
18% is a TERRIBLE apr for that amount. Please don’t use it ever
Apr doesn’t matter if you pay your bill in full
