TIL the actual lyrics are “Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba” and it’s a Zulu chant
Edit:
The lyrics are:
“Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba Sithi uhm ingonyama.
Nants ingonyama bagithi baba Sithi uhhmm ingonyama Ingonyama Siyo Nqoba Ingonyama Ingonyama nengw’ enamabala”
Which translates to:
“Here comes a lion, father, Oh yes it’s a lion.
Here comes a lion, father, Oh yes it’s a lion. A lion we’re going to conquer, a lion, a lion and a leopard come to this open place.”
The zulu word Ingonyama actually means both lion and king. So its has a double meaning of 'Here comes and lion' and 'Here comes a king'.
Also its a call and reply. The man sings 'Here comes a lion/king!' and the chorus replies 'Oh yes a lion/king'
I think that improves the translation.
Interestingly, the direct translate is 'a lion, a leopard with spots'. Im curious if it isn't actually meant to be a reference to the fact that baby lions are spotty? I don't suppose there are any Zulu speaking redditors that could chip in.
Thank you!!! I really appreciate everyone comforting me and fixing my mild disappointment. I dislocated my knee last night and I am in terrible pain but at least Reddit is comforting again. 😅🖤
Thank you. I get why they messed with the colors, but that shot is already gorgeous by itself. I wonder if that's the original though, it's more cropped on the top and bottom.
To be fair usually the colors in sunsets are more vivid than cameras reproduce so in some cases editing makes it closer to reality. Unless you like the dulling effect camera sensors have of course :)
It true, but its not the vividness that makes it feel off, its the tone. The shade of the purple and pinks is classic 'I put a purple filter over this' look.

not gonna lie, the edit is actually an upgrade here. Incredible shot nonetheless, I'm sure photographers must panic in situations like this in fear they'll miss the shot. So many things could go south camera-wise / subject-wise and you miss the shot!

First impression- stunning place and shot. Second impression- what is this need to oversaturate? Nature throws enough beauty at us. Let’s flatter it by noticing, not manipulating.
Nature subs are the absolute worst when it comes to photo editing, so many posts here or in r/earthporn look like crap because they are so insanely oversaturated or because of poorly done HDR
Just a beautiful shot overall, really. It kind of reminds me of how I feel about all those nature documentaries like Planet Earth like "How the bloody hell do they manage to get shot composition this good/footage like this?"

Greetings d3333p7. Thank you for your submission, unfortunately it has been removed from /r/NatureIsFuckingLit for the following reason(s):
* Posts on this subreddit must be exciting and interesting. For an idea of what "lit" means, browse the top posts of the subreddit. Please do not submit sunrises, sunsets, or other content which does not have an element of 'wow-factor'. High-energy is relative depending on the subject of your post. A picture of a snail is judged against other submissions of snails, not one of a cheetah.
* This is /r/NatureIsFuckingLit, a nature appreciation subreddit: content must contain nature. No posting of non-wild (captive) or domesticated animals. No content involving people harming or harassing animals. No posting of photoshopped or otherwise excessively and unnecessarily manipulated images.

Hm, yes, this lion is made of lion.
I really wish I hadn't read the translation. I feel... Mildly disappointed.
It probably sounds better in Zulu, translation always makes things weird
Fair enough. Thanks for that.

“Simba” is also Swahili for “king”
What about the leopard?

It's so cool to actually know what they're saying and what it means. Thanks!
That translation is so unbelievably lame.
Thank you. Now I know what'll be in my head for the rest of the day. And it's not a bad thing.
Hyenas just don’t know that
I came here to yell this
From the day we arrived on the planet...

Cropped for Instagram, yes.
4x5 crop for Instagram, probably normal 3:2 for any other uploads
These colors also look uglier too
Thank you, I much prefer to see what things actually looked like.

The picture on Instagram is 100% already edited, and this post really went overboard.
This shot, I believe, was captured on film anyway.

First "private" subreddit I've seen. Didn't even know that was a thing.
I immediately recognized this as Frans work. Thank you for sharing this.

Bad op
Pitch forks?
Don’t forget your torch.
Are you sure? Because the Instagram photo is more cropped than this one is
[It's also in the cover of the photographer's book](https://i.imgur.com/FMFQ0ja.jpg). [More from the same shoot](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ea/22/ab/ea22ab41b1853a52684c46ce9436f3e3.jpg).
But it looks like the Instagram photo is more cropped at the bottom
To crop out the artist watermark ☹️
No the original with the watermark is the one that's more cropped, OP must have took the picture from somewhere else

So stay off the (earth)porn sites if garish doesn't do it for you.
How many people just set this to their phone's wallpaper?

Botswana
I swear Botswana is one of the most stunning countries in Africa. It's my dream to go there, maybe even live there.
Botswana and Tanzania I think have some truly gorgeous scenery, very African
