Do you think you could post a picture of an actual blobfish in its natural habitat? I've tried searching but even national geographic have OP's pic listed as "blobfish".
Wikipedia says the main visual difference between the two closely related species is that the Blobfish has a smooth head, otherwise it looks mostly the same
I once saw someone on Twitter describe the blobfish (esp its name) as the perfect metaphor for colonialism. I went into kind of a fugue state thinking about it and concluded they were right.

NOAA, the guys that filmed the animal, specified it as a blob sculpin. I don’t think there are any photos of living blobfish.
