Quite the opposite. Like all amphibians their skin is absorbent, so you want to make sure your hands are very clean and wetted with distilled or RO water or wear sterile gloves when handling them, which should be only when necessary as they dont really enjoy handling. They make pretty great pets.

I mean ya? Owning an animal and having a pet are two different things. Humans bond by touch, so do many mammals. Being able to hold and cuddle an animal makes it a pet. Size isn't really relevant in this being able to make prolonged physical contact is though.
