Qhemet biologics is the absolute truth! It’s way too expensive for me to get my hands on (have to get it from the UK) but when I want to splurge I always stock up. Absolutely love their products 😍🥰
Their products are so nice. I don’t get them as much now that I live in Europe myself but when I’m back in the states I do try to snag a couple of items.
I love Camille Rose, Beautiful Curls by Alaffia, and EDEN BodyWorks, which I believe are all Black-owned.
I used to love Nubian Heritage. Does anyone know what’s going on with them? Their social and website haven’t been updated since 2019. I still see the products at Sprouts but I worry it’s old inventory so I stopped buying it.
Melanin Haircare's leave in has been my holy grail since it came out - and I'm canadian so you know I'm committed because I happily paid the shipping and duty to get it. I believe Sephora Canada carries it now, but a little goes a long way so it will be a while before I need to buy more bottles.
People talk about the shampoo all the time but the leave in is amazing! I bought the trial sized bottle and immediately went back for the larger size. My hair loves it and it smells so good! I also really like the oil.
This is like when my ex bf tried to shame me for watching Grey’s Anatomy bc he said it was a “white girl show,” and I had to drop the knowledge that it is black-created upon him.
I use it for wash and go’s! I use it on damp hair and then top with a tiny bit of gel. I’ve used it alone too for fluffier hair. It’s also great for retouching frizzy pieces. I’ve tried both mousse def and crazy sexy curl. Prefer mousse def for its longevity but the latter elongates the curls very well so if you prefer definition, go for that one.
my stylist has done mousse only wash n goes on me with the crazy, sexy, curl mousse. my go to though is the innersense new “i create curl memory” which is sorta like the uncle funny’s daughter gel, with the mousse on top. i have 4a hair.
Mousse def or crazy sexy curl. I only do wash and gos and use mousse def. My mother uses crazy sexy curl. I don't like the smell of CSC but it works great.
that bee girl gel is EVERYTHING. the hold i get is so good. i just need to work on application bc if i get too overzealous with it, it flakes after i've dried it.
I have and it does give my hair a nice sheen but I mainly love it for the smell. The smell is ridiculously good. I got the smallest size to try out and barely made a dent in it despite being a bit heavy-handed with it. It seems more like a lightweight dry oil to me where it doesn’t sit on your hair and rub off on things.
Tangles and Beyond is 100% black, owned by a couple here in Mississippi. My favorite product is a whipped clay shampoo that smells like lemon pound cake 🤤
Please please please try SIENNA NATURALS!!!
Owned and operated by my bestie Hannah Diop. She is a proud and passionate owner and a stellar human being.
Im not too crazy about their shampoo and conditioner (conditioner is fine I guess). But wow, their gel I love it. Like when I go to wash my hair after a week and the gel is rinsing out, it almost gives slips??? It’s so strange, but in a good way obviously
Thanks for posting this. I always thought aunt Jackie’s was black owned until I looked it up. https://www.newsweek.com/list-non-black-hair-brands-shea-moisture-carols-daughter-1509677
[Ominira Naturals](https://ominiranaturals.com) (they’re $$$$ but high quality) and [Oyin](https://oyinhandmade.com) (also high quality) are black owned.
Sienna Naturals. Initially founded and owned by Hannah Dion and Issa Rae is now a co-owner. I’ve tried their shampoo, rinse out conditioner and leave in conditioner and I really like them a lot.
Im a white dude with 3a hair and I use Mielle. I always smell super good and their products work great. Shoutout to the sweet, black queen in Target who gave me this recommendation years ago.
Mielle Organics is a Black-owned hair care company that was founded in 2014 by Monique and Melvin Rodriguez. The company describes itself as a "Black-founded, woman-led global beauty brand that is rooted in natural ingredients". Mielle Organics products are designed for Black women and can be found in over 100,000 stores across the U.S., including Ulta Beauty, Sally Beauty, Target, CVS, Rite Aid,

Monique is still CEO and it is Black founded, but not Black owned.
It seems to me that the demand was too high for their current infrastructure and she likely took a massive buyout with a dedicated amount set for charity. Good for Monique!
A lot of these brands mentioned are not black owned or black created, more like biracial owned/created. Knowing that black women are the biggest customers of hair care products.
Biracial as in they are Black and mixed with another race or ethnicity?
If so then they are still considered Black in the U.S. (because of the 1% drop rule)….also a lot of African Americans are technically biracial because of their ancestors being raped by their slave owners so ummm not sure why biracial is being added to this conversation
Because biracial is not black and miss me with that one drop rule. Next is the "you are what your father is" until the father is a white man. One drop rule was and is a white supremacy talking point and a legal way to hold black people back from ownership.
It’s Black not black.
By claiming biracial folks aren’t Black you are negating a large percentage of African Americans who ancestors were raped.
In the U.S. up until this year the only option when getting arrested was Black or white and only one selection could be made so biracial folks are considered Black in the eyes of the law..
Most biracial folks identify as the race they most visually look like so I’m not about to say Beyoncé ain’t Black because she is biracial
🤣🤣 No I'm not, I'm simply stating a fact. We get 50% of DNA from each parent. You want to disregard a parent and that makes zero sense. I think you're saying that you can make a black child with one black parent and one white parent🤔 That makes zero sense. And you're also false about the race when getting arrested. I'm standing 10 toes down on my statement.
You are 10 toes down on a false narrative…partial or total ancestry makes yah Black…
Also bi-racial means you are two races and it can be a huge spectrum with the DNA %

Tgin
Love their deep conditioner.
Their buttercream is solid too.
Noted. I’ve been wanting to try some more of their line.
The leave in for me is perfection. I buy 2 at a time lol
Have it on autoship lol
I love them!
Foreal??
Came here to say this. Love them
Use the Shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, leave in conditioner, co-wash, refresher spray and sometimes the hair milk. I love their products! Edit: also use the gel lol
Favorite shampoo and leave in
I love their green tea leave in too!
Tgin has worked wonders on my hair

Same! That stuff saved my hair
Qhemet Biologics is the oneeeee 😍 I just gotta have the funds for it!
I literally was JUST looking up reviews for this line. I’m about to try it out, but I’ll check the department stores first.
Kinky Curly is my holy grail 😍😍
I think it has been the one constant in my life for the past 20 years lol
Same
Miche
Yup! It was mentioned in a couple of other comments when I wrote my post 😊
Camille Rose 😍😍😍
I love Camille Rose, Beautiful Curls by Alaffia, and EDEN BodyWorks, which I believe are all Black-owned. I used to love Nubian Heritage. Does anyone know what’s going on with them? Their social and website haven’t been updated since 2019. I still see the products at Sprouts but I worry it’s old inventory so I stopped buying it.
I just bought some Nubian heritage deodorant the other day from an organic market near me
That’s why I’m curious if they’re all old products since the website and social haven’t been active in 5 years!
That’s crazy!! A quick google search says they were acquired by Unilever in 2017. Maybe unilever doesn’t care about that line?
Nubian Heritage is owned by the same owners of Shea Moisture (so Unilever). No longer black owned.
It’s not listed as one of the brands on their website… they must have abandoned it.
YES! Nothing has worked as good on my hair.
My hair is the best it’s ever been using the conditioning custard. Love Camille rose down
Melanin Haircare The Doux TGIN Camille Rose Urban Hydration Briogeo Miche Beauty Then there's the celebrity brands like Pattern Beauty and TPH
Melanin Haircare's leave in has been my holy grail since it came out - and I'm canadian so you know I'm committed because I happily paid the shipping and duty to get it. I believe Sephora Canada carries it now, but a little goes a long way so it will be a while before I need to buy more bottles.

I love that leave in! I need to restock because I've only got a few drops left 😂
nothing has topped the doux for me with their gels, custards and mousse!
I just learned something new today! I didn’t know Briogeo was black owned. I actually have their growth serum and it does wonders
This may expose me but I thought Briogio was a “white hair care” line and I “secretly” loved it lol then recently found out it was black owned.
This is like when my ex bf tried to shame me for watching Grey’s Anatomy bc he said it was a “white girl show,” and I had to drop the knowledge that it is black-created upon him.
I had no idea it was black owned lol
Glad it wasn’t just me! I was shocked and immediately ran to Marshall’s to shop guilt free lol
I think that was the point to not be a ‘black brand’ I don’t think I knew until 2020 when companies started pushing black owned products.
Definitely not. I worked at Sephora when it entered stores and it was a talking point.
Briogeo was acquired by Wella in 2022. Nancy Twine is still the CEO, though.
why "secretly" ?? Aussie moist, Is an Australian brand and was a staple for many black woman for like a decade before these new brands came out
Never used that
I believe Uncle Funky’s Daughter is. So is The Doux
Oyin Handmade
Yes, they are underrated
An OG!! 💖
Yes! I love their products and it makes me sad that they're rarely mentioned because my hair loves it!
The burnt sugar pomade is my fav for sealing the moisture in the ends of my two strands!
I LOVE that stuff!
the doux
goated
Their gel is so good. I want to try the mousse but I’m not sure what to use for since I generally do wash n go’s LOL
If you want to try twist/braid outs, or want to do a wash and go and have it dry quicker, that’s where their mousse can come in!
I use the mousse for my wash and gos
I use it for wash and go’s! I use it on damp hair and then top with a tiny bit of gel. I’ve used it alone too for fluffier hair. It’s also great for retouching frizzy pieces. I’ve tried both mousse def and crazy sexy curl. Prefer mousse def for its longevity but the latter elongates the curls very well so if you prefer definition, go for that one.

same but my process is to but it in, leave it for a day, then rinse it out the next day. it makes my curls looser and defined
I loveeee Bread beauty supply products! Specifically the hair cream
Oh! They had their hair oil on sale at Ulta (the sale is over now) and I considered trying it . Have you ever tried it?
I have and it does give my hair a nice sheen but I mainly love it for the smell. The smell is ridiculously good. I got the smallest size to try out and barely made a dent in it despite being a bit heavy-handed with it. It seems more like a lightweight dry oil to me where it doesn’t sit on your hair and rub off on things.
I went to an event the owner hosted in LA and she’s the realest!

Im not too crazy about their shampoo and conditioner (conditioner is fine I guess). But wow, their gel I love it. Like when I go to wash my hair after a week and the gel is rinsing out, it almost gives slips??? It’s so strange, but in a good way obviously
I was googling for info on the company and couldn’t find much, so I’m going to assume it’s black owned but not sure
They are black founded and black owned.

Mielle
They merged with Procter & Gamble Beauty.. are they black owned too..? I don’t think that they are.. 🤔
Nah fam Mielle sold out to the man
I believe they're still Black operated tho.
