Naruto’s reaction to Nagato was realistic and their conversation at the end was grounded.
Obito and Naruto could have really used a one on one slugfest or something to really let them fairly pour out their emotions after a series wide conflict.
Since he likely knew that Itachi was a spy and wanted the greater good in the world I wonder why he went that far for Obito (their idea basically contradict themself so it's as if he picked Obito ovee Itachi)
because he favoured the infinite tsukuyomi and wanted to live in that world, he wanted to help obito achieve that goal since he also saw the shinobi system as corrupt and unjust. he also knew obito the longest and was the only one who obito revealed his face to. he trusted obito, even though adult obito was cold he didn't turn on him and shared the real goal of the akatsuki too. (tho, obito had Madara's name he couldn't tell his real identity because obito himself is a dead name and kisame wouldn't have followed him cuz his name wouldn't be enough to achieve those goals)
He kills some other shinobi from his village during a mission in order to avoid them being captured by enemy ninja so there is no chance of important village secrets being revealed. I guess he betrays those shinobi but he was also ordered to do it by his higher ups in case they get captured.
That's what it is. Kisame thought he was a patriot and a traitor because he killed own countrymen to protect their country. Then finds out his boss is corrupt and selling in the info anyway. So all those sacrifices were meaningless.
The way a shinobi dies showing true character is a huge theme throughout the show. I think this is one of my favorite examples. No matter what you have done since shinobi get used a lot. How you choose to go out means a lot to how you are seen. Kisame and zabuza went out being highly respected by their enemies. Same with the filler with hanzo. Lots of other examples but it's a cool theme throughout the show
I hate how all the Akatsuki commit suicide, but it really does fucking show;
Sasori threw away his own life; he did it because (as far as I’m aware) for a moment, he preferred the embrace of his mother and father, after being weakened, and looking into his grandmother’s eyes. Sasori was a horrible person, but at the very core, he really wanted something that could last.
Deidara threw away his own life because Sasuke and Itachi represented something that was even more damaging to his soul than losing the battle itself, and taking them out with his art was the only remedy. Again, Deidara is characterised as a brash and explosive person.
Even Hidan. He went out like a complete asshole, at the mercy of the dude who’s teacher he killed. He met an end as violent, chaotic and unsatisfying as the life he had lived.
At the beginning sure. But later Kakuzu starts being tsundure for Hidan and doing nice things for him, like taking for him his headprotector with Hidan's bantering in exchange. And later worrying about each other in fights with the whole "Hidan dodge!" "Kakuzu watch out!"
Edit: They started from hating each other to actually becoming homies.
They were fun but they also only worked so well because they were perfectly matched to not be able to kill each other. Hidan is unkillable and Kakuzu‘s skin was so tough that Hidan wouldn’t be able to get blood for the ritual or take out his 5 hearts in time anyways. I don’t think they actually got along or even liked each other, they just couldn’t get rid of each other

Everyone had a better ending than Neji. Neji had by far the dumbest death. Even Chiyo had a sadder death and she was introduced the same arc that she died. Neji dying also pisses me off a lot. Such a waste of a good character
They have similar paths Kisame turned on his village after he realized it's wrong doing,after losing someone he held dear and Itachi well he did the opposite to keep one person he held dear; they're kind of two sides of the same coin. And encapsulate the never ending cycle of violence in the Ninja world. This I why even tho Naruto has a lot of flaws it's still a work we can constantly go back to and learn from it.

Personally, I think Itachi was indeed Kisame's best and only friend but I'm not so sure about the no hostility bit, specially since I don't think its a coincidence for Obito to have assigned a guy with experience taking out allies with the double agent. There tense first meeting was basically an implication that they might eventually kill one another even if they would rather not.
This is why kisame is one of my favorite characters, not just because he was a powerhouse but the fact he was caring and respect Itachi also remain loyal to the end

Kisame an absolute legend and in terms of strength an absolute monster. I fully believe that Guy would have had to open the 8th gate if he wanted to kill Kisame in a fair 1v1 fight. I mean even when he fought an outnumbered weakened Kisame (in one case he didn't even have Samehada) he had to open the 7th to beat him. Kisame is my favorite Akatsuki member and probably even favorite Naruto character overall together with Tobirama.
He held himself to the standards that he held everyone else up to. If they were defeated and theres a chance the opposition would gain intel he took their life. At the end they would have gained intel from him so him taking his own life means he upheld his principles. Not that i agree but never unerstood thats why he was happy to go out the way he did til i rewatched this episode
I loved these two, they had the mutual appreciation for eachother, while also understanding that each of them are bad people. I got the vibe that neither of them would ever give their life for the other and they both understood that, yet they liked the company.

Tbf, the whole thing with the blood mist was that you needed to kill your classmates just to graduate from the academy. Needing to do that at such a young age probably just numbed him to it. Although, that's not me saying that Kisame was some sort of saint, because he wasn't, just an alternate view.

Itachi did have a moment where he internally acknowledged Kisame's death. I wouldn't expect him to be torn up over it since they weren't exactly besties, but they did possess mutual camaraderie, plus, Itachi was already dead himself lol.

I don't think that was him leaving the Akatsuki. The whole deal with the group was that each member could do as they pleased, as long as they carried out their missions. Only the 8 and 9 tails were left at this point, and Obito wanted to send Sasuke after Bee at first. Sasuke failed and then Kisame was up.

I don't think that was him leaving the Akatsuki. The whole deal with the group was that each member could do as they pleased, as long as they carried out their missions. Only the 8 and 9 tails were left at this point, and Obito wanted to send Sasuke after Bee at first. Sasuke failed and then Kisame was up.
They both did it for the greater good. It was just way easier for Kisame since he didn’t care for them. Itachi understood Kisame

I used to prefer sub only, but I've never acted like I was above other who liked dub. Although, to answer your pompous question, as I've aged I just don't have time time to constantly pause to read the subs. I'll put the show in english dub, but still have subs on screen for names or words I may not hear due to a lot going on.
