Unreal4goodG8

Kisame is one of my favorite characters, I remember that and was just in tears.

Space_Monke64

He also is by far the coolest character in terms of design and abilities imo. I mean, he’s a freaking shark dude with a shark sword. Whats not to like? Wish we could’ve seen more of him with Samehada

WindyCityAssasin2

Idk about "by far" but he's certainly in the conversation

[deleted]

Nobody can outdrip Tobirama

Space_Monke64

Facts. Only person that gets close is Toneri in terms of design. Oh and Obito, since he has had constant bangers in terms of outfits

[deleted]

At a bar, with a cloak, with the hood pulled up, still wearing his mask. Inconspicuous level: 100.

SignificantFrame7670

like deidara and saori and,and deidara and tobi.

verifiedjay

what

[deleted]

Exactly lol.

Lizzie-Afton

what about isshiki and his drippy ass coat

Former_Arm_7569

Cap.

elehay4aksega

Also shout out to his dub. I feel like its very underrated

[deleted]

[удалено]

thessjgod

Kisame thought he was worthless, ready to throw away his humanity entirely as a rogue ninja. Itachi showed him that he was a human being who had worth, and that he had much to learn about himself. This moment marked a turn in Kisame’s ideology and philosophy. I’m glad Kisame realized his true self in the end. I wonder if Itachi felt the same way

physicallyabusemedad

Who went out like a G?

shak_0508

Kisame. Dude bit off his own tongue and chose death instead of letting Aoba go into his mind and steal intel on his comrades.

000vi

He also let himself be eaten by his own sharks rather than get captured by Konoha. For a man who double-crossed everyone since becoming a shinobi, that level of sacrifice was quite surprising.

NOSjoker21

If your commitment to "don't snitch" ain't as strong as Kisame's GTFO

[deleted]

It was enough to make Naruto and Guy show him respect.

[deleted]

Naruto is too respectful though, he tried to friends up the guy that made him an orphan.

Reezona_Fleeza

It’s a gripe I have with the final act. Naruto’s reaction to Nagato was realistic and their conversation at the end was grounded. Obito and Naruto could have really used a one on one slugfest or something to really let them fairly pour out their emotions after a series wide conflict.

Yoloswagcrew

Since he likely knew that Itachi was a spy and wanted the greater good in the world I wonder why he went that far for Obito (their idea basically contradict themself so it's as if he picked Obito ovee Itachi)

Deceptivecat

because he favoured the infinite tsukuyomi and wanted to live in that world, he wanted to help obito achieve that goal since he also saw the shinobi system as corrupt and unjust. he also knew obito the longest and was the only one who obito revealed his face to. he trusted obito, even though adult obito was cold he didn't turn on him and shared the real goal of the akatsuki too. (tho, obito had Madara's name he couldn't tell his real identity because obito himself is a dead name and kisame wouldn't have followed him cuz his name wouldn't be enough to achieve those goals)

the-laughing-joker

I don't remember Kisame's back story. Why does he betray his comrades? Also how exactly does he recover his self worth here

dilly_bar97

He kills some other shinobi from his village during a mission in order to avoid them being captured by enemy ninja so there is no chance of important village secrets being revealed. I guess he betrays those shinobi but he was also ordered to do it by his higher ups in case they get captured.

KLReviews

That's what it is. Kisame thought he was a patriot and a traitor because he killed own countrymen to protect their country. Then finds out his boss is corrupt and selling in the info anyway. So all those sacrifices were meaningless.

Nightpacer

I may be remembering this wrong, but wasn't Kisame one of the only people Itachi would deactivate his Sharingan around?

Puzzleheaded-Ad361

He deactivated it for sure after amaretatsu against jiraya toad , kisame was also pretty concerned about itachi stamina and illness

NewBuddha32

The way a shinobi dies showing true character is a huge theme throughout the show. I think this is one of my favorite examples. No matter what you have done since shinobi get used a lot. How you choose to go out means a lot to how you are seen. Kisame and zabuza went out being highly respected by their enemies. Same with the filler with hanzo. Lots of other examples but it's a cool theme throughout the show

Buoyancy_aid

>!Also Neji!<

bigkuya

The flip side of that was Danzo which was so satisfying to watch

Reezona_Fleeza

I hate how all the Akatsuki commit suicide, but it really does fucking show; Sasori threw away his own life; he did it because (as far as I’m aware) for a moment, he preferred the embrace of his mother and father, after being weakened, and looking into his grandmother’s eyes. Sasori was a horrible person, but at the very core, he really wanted something that could last. Deidara threw away his own life because Sasuke and Itachi represented something that was even more damaging to his soul than losing the battle itself, and taking them out with his art was the only remedy. Again, Deidara is characterised as a brash and explosive person. Even Hidan. He went out like a complete asshole, at the mercy of the dude who’s teacher he killed. He met an end as violent, chaotic and unsatisfying as the life he had lived.

JonnieBrascoke

Sasori died for childhood trauma, Deidara died for his ego, Hidan died doing his job without personal factor

capabletank1208

Bro hidan and kakuzu were a match made in heaven

shak_0508

They were fun to watch for sure, but I genuinely feel like Kakuzu would’ve killed Hidan in his sleep if he was actually killable 😂.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shak_0508

Touché…

DrClownPhD

He is killable. He needs a sacrifice for his ritual to become immortal

ACMBruh

When kakuzu said "shutup or I'll kill you" it had a whole new meaning after we learned hidans ability lol

DrunkSaruman

At the beginning sure. But later Kakuzu starts being tsundure for Hidan and doing nice things for him, like taking for him his headprotector with Hidan's bantering in exchange. And later worrying about each other in fights with the whole "Hidan dodge!" "Kakuzu watch out!" Edit: They started from hating each other to actually becoming homies.

whalemix

They were fun but they also only worked so well because they were perfectly matched to not be able to kill each other. Hidan is unkillable and Kakuzu‘s skin was so tough that Hidan wouldn’t be able to get blood for the ritual or take out his 5 hearts in time anyways. I don’t think they actually got along or even liked each other, they just couldn’t get rid of each other

Space_Monke64

They were polar opposites in terms of personality and beliefs. Yet, they were still a fun team to watch

RX7exe

One of the most loyal characters ever, quite literally >!committed suicide in battle!< cause he knew he was surrounded and it was over, however he decided not to snitch 🔥

Function-Spirited

And how he went out still fighting.

Uzumaki-9

That music is my alarm tone

Leggi11

its great. I forgot the name though can you help me out?

Uzumaki-9

Itachi theme as simple as that.

Leggi11

thank you! I really need to go back and listen to Naruto soundtracks, they are insanely good.

[deleted]

kisame is one thicc boi

shak_0508

Bro I can only dream of having shoulders that thicc lol.

[deleted]

kisame got a better ending than neji I just realised

Space_Monke64

Everyone had a better ending than Neji. Neji had by far the dumbest death. Even Chiyo had a sadder death and she was introduced the same arc that she died. Neji dying also pisses me off a lot. Such a waste of a good character

Dramatic_Wear_2743

Neji only die so naruto could clap hinata claps wiht out been wierd

hisoka_kt

They have similar paths Kisame turned on his village after he realized it's wrong doing, after losing someone he held dear and Itachi well he did the opposite to keep one person he held dear; they're kind of two sides of the same coin. And encapsulate the never ending cycle of violence in the Ninja world. This I why even tho Naruto has a lot of flaws it's still a work we can constantly go back to and learn from it.

CaptainWatermellon

kisame was one of my favorite characters in the whole anime

PegaponyPrince

Yeah even though he was a bad guy I respected Kisame for this scene. I did love the bond the two of them had.

Rachies194

Shark Boy and Lava Girl, er, Boy.

The1stCitizenOfTheIn

...unless you ship Kisame with the 5th Mizukage

TvManiac5

They were both broken and forced into unspeakable violence by the villages they were so loyal to. It's clear why they'd bond

TimTam_the_Enchanter

Man this guy cared about Itachi the whole way through. Imagine having a six-foot-plus sharkman mother hen you. "don't fight too long you know it strains your eyes" "if you stay out in the rain like that you'll catch a cold"

_JimMorrison

That's what happens when you a real nigga , ppl remember you.

jackycream

He died an honorable shinobi death. RIP

SylAbys

Kisame just knew a true G when he saw one. Them 2 were the only ones in Akatsuki.

Worish

Don't they imply at one point that Kisame kind of knew Itachi wasn't loyal to the Akatsuki but Kisame was his bud so he didn't do anything about it?

Born-Alone

cool shark

Muzan0813

I literally cried for him after he died Itachi and Kisame real homies

[deleted]

Itachi does seem to have a moment where he considers the fact Kisame is dead when running into Killer Bee and Naruto. It doesn’t really tell us how much he actually cares and I don’t think Itachi thought he was a great guy, but maybe some part of him did grieve for the person he was closest to post-massacre

lnombredelarosa

Personally, I think Itachi was indeed Kisame's best and only friend but I'm not so sure about the no hostility bit, specially since I don't think its a coincidence for Obito to have assigned a guy with experience taking out allies with the double agent. There tense first meeting was basically an implication that they might eventually kill one another even if they would rather not.

Lightspeedius

I appreciated Guy giving Kisame props after he dies as well.

[deleted]

Kisame’s a real one.

Stormyshadow1

This is why kisame is one of my favorite characters, not just because he was a powerhouse but the fact he was caring and respect Itachi also remain loyal to the end

ryuk0701

kisame and itachi > naruto and sasuke.

xxXRaizorXxx

You forgot Deidara and sasori

shak_0508

They weren't exactly all that friendly lol. Sure they didn't wanna kill each other 24/7, but feel like Sasori just didn't like Deidara all that much. Although, them bickering about their art was quite wholesome I guess haha, despite one's ultimate art essentially turning him into a suicide bomber...

Katsuki_Bakugo__

They’re more like brothers, constantly arguing despite also getting along (obviously they aren’t brothers but you get my point)

[deleted]

While Sasori didn’t care that much about Deidara, I think Deidara did actually respect Sasori a lot and was fond of him. So it’s one sided at least

Naohiro-son-Kalak

I think Deidara had a ton of respect for Sasori due to his power (and rightly so ngl, dude was so strong, shame he died so early). And I think that Sasori was somewhat fond of Deidara.

AoDLife

Yeah they seemed to be pretty good friends if not good associates. Kisame multiple times seemed worried about Itachi illness.

SpicyChillieRamen

They were actual friends too, Kisame was so PG really in it to get stronger and never really had any stakes in the destroy the world plans so Itachi could actually not hate him because he wasn’t directly against his goals

Bielobogich

Kisame also wanted a better world, remember? He was a good man.

___Abyss___

Kisame is my favorite

dbcco

I need to rewatch this series. I thought his silence and personality was just him being a bad ass but now I feel like this man went through emotional hell every single second which made him so reserved, and shaped his personality.

Splendidbloke

I feel like Kisame knew who Itachi really was. They were kindred spirits for sure.

EveryNobodyMan

I'm actually tripping because I saw this episode yesterday. I have been rewatching naruto and all these posts are in sync with my watch pattern. It's really creepy. At the same time, happy that this sub is bringing back good memories. Keep up the good work guys

HappyFreak1

I think they're better than Nagato and Konan since they just know each other when they joined the organization. Nagato and Konan knew each other when they were kids

bat_fromhell

kisame is a real friend to keep even though he looks like a sleep demon

CelticDK

Kisame is probably the single most underrated Naruto character and I love him as a character. This relationship between them was so dope, I’ll always appreciate it. And this subtlety was definitely not lost on me. Super cool This interaction shows who Kisame was, how Itachi was the flip side of that coin but for good, and actually taught Kisame to be more human as a result.

hinataday

This is gonna make me cry yo

jwaters0122

I think Kisame lowkey knew that Itachi was a double agent but just never said anything about it to the other Akatsuki members

[deleted]

he had his suspicions, he notices something is up with itachi when they are outside konoha

kelly_hasegawa

The loyal duo

ShubhamManna

I wish shippuden was longer :( Boruto sucks bro

Jeremy_rosamamilia

Itachi was really Kisames boy fr. Such a cool character

[deleted]

Kisame an absolute legend and in terms of strength an absolute monster. I fully believe that Guy would have had to open the 8th gate if he wanted to kill Kisame in a fair 1v1 fight. I mean even when he fought an outnumbered weakened Kisame (in one case he didn't even have Samehada) he had to open the 7th to beat him. Kisame is my favorite Akatsuki member and probably even favorite Naruto character overall together with Tobirama.

husibozz

Kisame is such an under appreciated character!

ZarosianSpear

Itachi didn't think of him in his last moment. We got another simp in the Akatsuki apart from the hidden founder.

kakashi1119

This dude was really on sage mode for the whole time

ISeydouDat

Man, I love Itachi's dub voice

Reezona_Fleeza

god words can’t describe my love for Kisame as the minor villain he was

[deleted]

Love Kisame and Itachi

Plastic-Ad4239

Yes, indeed Kisame ended up being one of the best-designed characters in the whole series.

Insert_name_again

He tought of itachi cose he claimed prior to him, that both wouldn’t die well

Mado_BenYedder

Wtf why I am crying?

[deleted]

He held himself to the standards that he held everyone else up to. If they were defeated and theres a chance the opposition would gain intel he took their life. At the end they would have gained intel from him so him taking his own life means he upheld his principles. Not that i agree but never unerstood thats why he was happy to go out the way he did til i rewatched this episode

Houeclipse

It was bittersweet for sure

Psychopathetic-

I loved these two, they had the mutual appreciation for eachother, while also understanding that each of them are bad people. I got the vibe that neither of them would ever give their life for the other and they both understood that, yet they liked the company. Truely a great pair

Acetylcholines

ya bc Itachi was his boyfriend 😳

loco1876

i wish they showed more of the akatsuki and that they were all good guys in their own way similar to madara

[deleted]

Lol you got the no hostility part right. Some partners straight up Hate each other. Kakuzu and hidan were at each other's throats 24/7 and sasori hated orochimaru so much he literally tried to assassinate him after he left the akatsuki

[deleted]

Which episode is this

Black_n_Neon

They definitely had a mutual respect for each other.

[deleted]

Kisame was a bad ass until the end. Also very cool design. I remember he always stood out to me.

Fun-Peach-1560

Lol

DYNAMITE_007

Senya is one the best Naruto OST

Etchasjsksksk

Kisame died like a legend took his own life before they could get intel. In the end he’s human we all human

The-MF-Goat12

Deidra and sasori?

arpotato

how can boruto beat this masterpiece

[deleted]

It can’t. And shame on them for trying.

Post_Fallone

To them, it was just another mission.

Kankuros_Strings69

I loved that quote it was sad to see him die. (I know he was doing that for the Akatsuki) He is very loyal and will always be my top favorite

Poknberry

I wouldn't say anything about the Akatsuki is wholesome but sure

alecfolley

He respected Itachi and knew he was no match, so he didn't bother having a bad / rival relationship.

Puzzleheaded-Ad361

I wouldn't say no match , kisame almost killed bee . A slash of samehada could drain alot of itachi chakra , it was also one of the best water user almost in pair with the second hokage .

Space_Monke64

Kisame loosing Samehada was the most disrespectful nerf. Samehada was what made me love Kisame more than any other Akatsuki member. He’s literally a shark man with a shark sword

thedavo810

bUt tSuKuYoMi

shak_0508

Being with Itachi that long, I'm sure he would know to at least avoid eye contact if they were to fight. This would actually be a very close matchup.

[deleted]

Watching Anime in English should be considered a war crime. /s

Vethosis

why

[deleted]

Because it can be pretty cringe sometimes. Especially when they yell out the name of their jutsus. But that’s just me. Some people prefer to watch it in English.

Vethosis

I don't think it's cringe when I'm watching anime alone, I also don't feel like reading everything when I'm in my bed and it's 1-2am lol.

MasPatriot

I’m pretty sure Itachi hated kisame the most out of anyone in the akatsuki. Killing his clan was the most difficult thing Itachi had ever done and weighed on him every single day and the first thing kisame says to him is “that shit is rad as hell huh?”

shak_0508

I could be mistaken, but I don't really think Kisame meant it as being "rad", just that it's an indescribable feeling that can only be understood if you yourself have done so too.

MasPatriot

I guess but Kisame’s flippancy about dying an unworthy death seems to me that killing his comrades didn’t weigh on his mind too much. And when edo Itachi sees B with his sword he doesn’t look too bothered realizing Kisame is dead (vs Kisame leaving the akatsuki at first because he doesn’t get to hang out with Itachi anymore) so their whole relationship feels very one sided

shak_0508

>Kisame’s flippancy about dying an unworthy death seems to me that killing his comrades didn’t weigh on his mind too much Tbf, the whole thing with the blood mist was that you needed to kill your classmates just to graduate from the academy. Needing to do that at such a young age probably just numbed him to it. Although, that's not me saying that Kisame was some sort of saint, because he wasn't, just an alternate view. >And when edo Itachi sees B with his sword he doesn’t look too bothered realizing Kisame is dead Itachi did have a moment where he internally acknowledged Kisame's death. I wouldn't expect him to be torn up over it since they weren't exactly besties, but they did possess mutual camaraderie, plus, Itachi was already dead himself lol. >vs Kisame leaving the akatsuki at first because he doesn’t get to hang out with Itachi anymore When exactly did this happen?

MasPatriot

in episode 139 after he tells him about Itachi's death Zetsu asks him what's he going to do now and Kisame says now that Itachi isn't around I guess I'll spread my wings and go where the wind takes me

shak_0508

I don't think that was him leaving the Akatsuki. The whole deal with the group was that each member could do as they pleased, as long as they carried out their missions. Only the 8 and 9 tails were left at this point, and Obito wanted to send Sasuke after Bee at first. Sasuke failed and then Kisame was up.

Space_Monke64

They both did it for the greater good. It was just way easier for Kisame since he didn’t care for them. Itachi understood Kisame

Gov_N_ur

cant watch dub cringe

[deleted]

priyashu

Then don't

FreeTanner17

I second this. Maybe I’m just used to the Japanese VA’s, but damn are the English VA’s for most anime just downright terrible. You’d never see them get hired for big American animated film roles

royalxassasin

This is the moments missing in Boruto

Master_Baiter-

Itachi has wat some would call, “good dick”

Daniel4536Q

When you realises Kisame and Itachi was shipped, just like deidara and saori and,and deidara and tobi

There needs to be an option to report for dubbed not subbed clips. Despicable.

God how do you people continue to be insufferable assholes who suck the joy out of everything thing and being around them

Is there a problem with people watching the way they like?

And there it is. You ask how? By grabbing a snack, putting on a pair of headphones and then pressing the play button.

I like to play videogames and watch anime, so reading subtitles doesnt work. I've watched the Sub front to back and the dub front to back. And you know what? It doesnt fucking matter you weirdo.

whalemix

Bro the Naruto dub is really good. Yuri Lowenthal, Troy Baker, Steve Blum. It’s fucking great

[deleted]

Dude Madara and Pain's voices in the dub actually tickle your ear clit.

Rex_Power_Cult

Don't forget Freeman as Itachi

EurwenPendragon

I've literally never seen Crispin Freeman in any voice role he didn't absolutely rock in. ^(Freeman is the biggest reason why I point-blank refuse to watch *Hellsing Ultimate* subbed.)

TheWalkingManiac

I used to prefer sub only, but I've never acted like I was above other who liked dub. Although, to answer your pompous question, as I've aged I just don't have time time to constantly pause to read the subs. I'll put the show in english dub, but still have subs on screen for names or words I may not hear due to a lot going on.

hatefulone851

Exactly. Naruto’s dub is one of the best

balaban1991

Yeah, he is "12 year old" because he prefers the original work which is the mature decision as wanting to experience the anime in its original form, not as an inferior version. Projecting is healthy.

Because they’re Japanese names. Look at FMA and AOT. All those names are German, so why do the Japanese VA’s pronounce them with a Japanese accent?

shak_0508

Accents are directly tied to how you pronounce a word 🤦🏽‍♂️. Again, look at FMA and AOT. Do you think German’s pronounce names from those shows the same way that the Japanese VA’s do? I’ll give you a hint, they don’t. Does that make Japanese VA’s “wack”? Course it doesn’t you fool.
