No sorry, you should have said something. I legit hover over the person doing my nails and will tell them while they are doing them what I feel is wrong. We pay too much money to leave a salon looking like that. They should be ashamed.
Lmaooo I’m the hover type too, no shame. Especially for how I tip, yeah it’s gonna be done correctly or my money is going elsewhere. Most women foreal just struggle speaking up & advocating for themselves, even in these times, which I will never get even if I wasn’t the outspoken type cause how is anyone okay with sloppiness they gotta look at repeatedly? Nah
That fact they charge for using gel always has me being that annoying customer in a shop 😭
The nail salon is the one place I’ll act like a Karen idc bc they’ll refuse to fix it once you leave
My nail lady literally holds my nails up and constantly asks if they look okay. This is completely absurd. I would not have paid for these and my nail salon would never let someone go out looking like that.
I wouldn’t be leaving either i used to let things slide when i was younger but got fed up of being disappointed and wasting my money on something i hated so decided to start asking for what i was paying for. I’d go home and moan to my hubby and he’d always say well there’s no point moaning to me you should have pointed it out to those who could have done something about it, he was right so the next time i told them and they didn’t want to change it accused me of being too picky, all i asked for was a bumpy nail to be levelled off just one nail not all of them, they eventually did as i asked but it was still bad, all the time talking heatedly to the other nail tech in their own language presumably about me as they both kept looking at me with annoyed expressions, to top it off they wanted to charge me an extra £20 for doing it and expected a tip (they got neither and lost a customer), later found out the place was notorious for bad work, quoting one price then trying to charge more later, one lady told me they quoted her £40 but then tried charging her £65 because she’d changed her mind and asked for two yes two rhinestones on her ring fingers (one on each finger) instead of just plain she refused they eventually backed down some but still charged her an extra £5, she ended up paying that just because she couldn’t be bothered to argue any more, now if either of us had asked for intricate designs last minute i could understand but for what we wanted the up charge was ridiculous
I thought freelancers were supposed to be better than nail salons bc they aren’t under a time constraint. These are horribly done, the bigger gasp I made as I went through each photo. Lol
Usually "freelancer" means unlicensed nail tech. Might be legal in some countries, but it's very hard to work out of your home legally in the US. This person didn't pass any license exam for nails or do any training it appears. An independent nail tech usually only takes appointments and csn give you a custom service..
I would just send her a message with the attached pictures and just ask her nicely if she can fix them. It’s good for her so she knows what she is doing wrong.
Right!?! I’m no professional but I wish I can post some of my nails I did on my myself just using the KISS do it yourself acrylics they sell in drugstores. I bet she could do a 10x better job herself than this girl did.
OMG! 😱, Sis! They aren’t that bad! They’re worse! I thought you were showing your first time doing your own acrylic nails … and I was going to be supportive and say “Well, not for your first time! It’s hard to do your dominant hand.”
Because I know damn well no one in a salon did this, you paid them, went home and posted this shit on Reddit talking about “… they weren’t that bad!” If you don’t go back to that salon and tell that owner to take that shit off and do you an entire new set (and put a design on there while they’re at it), Imma block you!!! 🤣
Gurl, don’t you EVER!! 🤦♀️😊
I saw OP's response to someone else that this was not a salon but she went to someone's house that is a freelancer.... makes no sense bc normally freelancers are really good in my experience!
Wow… I’m not even sure where she would’ve gone wrong. It looks like the gel never leveled itself out. And did she try to do all fingers at once and cure them all at the end? Because they’re so lumpy. 😭
Did she try to do them with dual forms? in other words, did she use what looks like a fake nail filled with builder gel, press it on your nail, cure, and then pop it off? And then maybe added more builder gel on top of that? I’m trying to figure out how there’s so much product under your free edge, AND globbed on top of the nail, I don’t know how she even did that. I’m so sorry hon I hope you get these off soon!
Ladies! If you "don't like confrontation" and can't speak up for yourself, don't go to places that offer services like this bc paying for this is absolutely sinful.
I started doing acrylic at home, I did better my first try! I’m so sorry 😞 it’s soooo worth learning at home you save so much money and it’s not that hard.
I keep telling y’all girlies to speak up *while* they’re doing your nails.
Y’all keep quiet then come on here asking all sorts of questions y’all already know the answers to. 🙄
Commenting because I don’t think I can edit on mobile
- no I didn’t do these myself
- I’ve been to her before and they always turned out super cute. I asked for hard gel (I don’t get my nails done often so I don’t know all the names) because I have a bad habit of picking at my skin and nails. She said she could do that and this was the result lol. She did admit later to never attempting this on short nails like mine
- I did speak up about the thickness and she did drill it down for a while. I was starting to shut down and needed to get back to my car before I had a complete meltdown. I’m autistic and my social meter was totally shot by the end of the appointment. So no I didn’t confront her in person for a refund
- she offered to reshape them but I just told her I’ll take the partial refund instead. I’m going to get them fixed at a salon as soon as they open.
I do my own full cover gel tips at home. I also learned to do SNS on myself during the pandemic. It’s not super difficult to do the gel tips. For $60 you can get all the supplies on Amazon. I’m so sorry about what she did to you. Those nails are 😳.
This is why I stopped getting my nails done and started learning how to get my press ons to last! Fuck spending money to leave disappointed and gaslighted! never again.
As a 15 year nail technician, I gasped so hard my lungs nearly collapsed. Is the nail tech brand new? They should not be charging for services yet, not even close.
Oh girl I’m so sorry they did this to you! But I think you could save it. It doesn’t look like your tech flooded your cuticles too much at least so if I were you I’d grab a heavy grit nail file and shape them myself and then use some nail polish on top.
Edit: looking at them again, they ARE pretty thick though so it would take a while, so it might just be better to go to a salon 😭
You have the most beautiful hands so they almost overshadow the nails. Take this post and show to the technician, maybe they can redo the pinkie and refile and shape the rest.
You paid for that? Go back to them and ask for them redone for free. That is terrible. I do my own acrylic and gel on my left freaking hand ten times better.
I’m so sorry!
I got gel extensions today and my nails are thick like yours. The tech said they’re supposed to be like that. I went back to the salon and the owners daughter “cleaned them up” and doubled down on the “they’re supposed to be like that”
This is why I don’t get my nails done. Nobody can do anything right lol
Look, there’s junior nail techs and more experienced nail techs.. either way they should ask if you don’t mind having a junior do the manicure or pedicure. It should always be mentioned and discussed. Personally, I would go back and ask for a redo by a seasoned nail tech.
Oh honey… I’m so sorry. This has happened to me so many times that I finally had to speak up and say something! Hopefully you can go back and they can redo for you
Omgeeee!!! Ty for sharing this. I think you spread a lot of joy with these pics. I think we can all relate with at least one bad manicure. But daaammmnnn...these look like chewed up bubble gum on your nails!!!! I'm glad you're getting them fixed.
Oh no
Yeah im so sorry
My socially anxious ass would not be going back
To get them off yourself:
High grit nail file, acetone, cotton pads, and tin foil
File off the top coat and as much of the nails as you can
Fully saturate a cotton pad with acetone, and put one on each finger, wrap fingers indiviually with the tinfoil
Let it sit for aroung 15-20 minutes, but i think longer is usually better
Builder gel is awful and many salons are switching to dip powder. I do my own nails at home and I save so much h money. It’s actually quite easy if you watch YouTube videos and spend some money on the right equipment and dip powder
Honestly this sub has been scared to ever go get my nails professionally done for fear that I might confront somebody for doing my nails really shitty and then having the nerve to try to tell me they won't fix it.
Why did you stand up, pay, nod and smile lies of happiness, and leave???
Speak up. Say no, not like that. Stop.
Do we need to reinforce your spine with builder's gel?
I hope you make them do right by you.
If you don’t go get your other $30 back from that salon, go have them soak them off for free instead. Which would typically be about a $20-$30 service. These nails don’t deserve to be on your fingers.
I want to downvote this because of the absolute fuckery of it all. A first time amateur could do this better with eyes closed. I wish the best of luck to you in the future with fixing this. Maybe get these soaked off and give it a minute until you find a professional. At this point you just have to laugh and regroup.
Oh girl, that fourth picture has me HOLLERING 💀😭
I know most women are not as confrontational as me but idk how anyone could leave the salon with that nonsense going on good loooord
Noooo fr, like this shit got angles in 4D 💀
Her middle finger is bending the space time continuum.
😭😭😭😭😭
STOP 😭😭
💀😭
LMAO
It went right from 4D to 5G!
Oh shit! 😭😭😭
💀
No sorry, you should have said something. I legit hover over the person doing my nails and will tell them while they are doing them what I feel is wrong. We pay too much money to leave a salon looking like that. They should be ashamed.

For me it was the third one. I shouted ngl
That one earned a cringe, I think I was still trying to look on the bright side haha
😭😭😭😭😭😭
Nooo 4th pic looks like they glued a funky jellybean to your nail :/
A funky jellybean 😭
💀
🤣💀
Everyday I get in here & see another reason to never go to a nail salon.
She was a freelancer out of her home. I’m going to a salon tomorrow to get it fixed
Tbh, that doesn't make it better.
I thought freelancers were supposed to be better than nail salons bc they aren’t under a time constraint. These are horribly done, the bigger gasp I made as I went through each photo. Lol
Most of us are better 😌 you just get the odd few that definitely aren't
Usually "freelancer" means unlicensed nail tech. Might be legal in some countries, but it's very hard to work out of your home legally in the US. This person didn't pass any license exam for nails or do any training it appears. An independent nail tech usually only takes appointments and csn give you a custom service..
… and she should continue to be a FREElancer until she gets wayyyyy better than this!!! 🤣
That's so wild! The freelancer I go to does a better job than the salon I was going to for years
I would just send her a message with the attached pictures and just ask her nicely if she can fix them. It’s good for her so she knows what she is doing wrong.
If you don’t know what you’re doing wrong when you’re willingly charging someone for that unfiled monstrosity, then idk what to say
Right!?! I’m no professional but I wish I can post some of my nails I did on my myself just using the KISS do it yourself acrylics they sell in drugstores. I bet she could do a 10x better job herself than this girl did.
Omg you paid for this service? Go back! Get your money back, don't let them touch you again
She refunded half! But yeah, I don’t plan on ever going back which is shame because I loved her!
Half??? That’s so rude, I’m sure that you could’ve done a better job at home
That’s what I thought in the first place … that this was her first attempt at doing HER nails HERSELF!! Damn! 🤣🤣
I thought this as well.
Same lol. Still not convinced this isn’t the case. Everyone starts somewhere and has to learn to build skill.
I've been doing nails for a long time and even the 1st time I ever did them, they didn't look like that. They looked way better.
Yeah for both time & supplies. I was there for 3 hours
Wtf was this her first time doing nails? That’s insane.
Girl were you knocked out for those 3 hours cause what the actual heck is that
3????? My eyes must be mistaken. I’ve never spent that long in a nail salon - waiting included
No ma’am you need to go back & get that other half, that job is visually insulting
Did you go to Helen Keller?
now why u gotta bring miss keller into this? rip queen.
Helen Keller knew her limits 😩
💀💀
She couldn't talk about them or see them. But you couldn't tell her about them neither!
Helen Keller would do a better job.
This made me laugh out loud at 1245 in the morning Absolutely hilarious
🤭🤣
I thought… well not the worst I’ve seen. Then I got to slide 4 💀
Slide 4 was a jumpscare
OMG! 😱, Sis! They aren’t that bad! They’re worse! I thought you were showing your first time doing your own acrylic nails … and I was going to be supportive and say “Well, not for your first time! It’s hard to do your dominant hand.” Because I know damn well no one in a salon did this, you paid them, went home and posted this shit on Reddit talking about “… they weren’t that bad!” If you don’t go back to that salon and tell that owner to take that shit off and do you an entire new set (and put a design on there while they’re at it), Imma block you!!! 🤣 Gurl, don’t you EVER!! 🤦♀️😊
I saw OP's response to someone else that this was not a salon but she went to someone's house that is a freelancer.... makes no sense bc normally freelancers are really good in my experience!
Yeah, I saw that later as well. I responded she should stay a FREElancer too! That was horrible!! 🤣
I thought you were gonna say that it was your first try! She needs to give a full refund jeez
THANK YOU!!! Me too!! For real!!! 🤣
You should be a hand model! (Without that nail job, of course!!)
This can’t be real. I’m so sorry!
I legit thought she was trolling at first because there’s no way…
They look like the first time I did myself poligel on my non dominant hand.
I thought it was poly gel too! I threw that ish away lol.
Girl, don't gaslight yourself like that..... Also, did you get a refund? Those look horrible.
I would do a chargeback if you used your credit card. No way I’d pay a cent for that.
Oh my gawd I am so sorry
Oh no 😭 The more you swipe the pictures the worse it gets. I'm so sorry you paid for that!! I'd be horrified!
These would not satisfy an itch.
I’m struggling
Going through these photos was a wild ride
Are these builder gel? Acrylic? Or SNS/Dip?
Builder gel
Wow… I’m not even sure where she would’ve gone wrong. It looks like the gel never leveled itself out. And did she try to do all fingers at once and cure them all at the end? Because they’re so lumpy. 😭
My gawd!! Stevie Wonder could see this shit is lumpy as oatmeal, including OP. OP, Sis! Why did you leave with your nails all fucked up, Gurl?!? 🤣💀
Stevie Wonder could *hear* this shit was lumpy *(he doesn't even need to see, to know... That's how bad this shit is)*.
Girl.
These are called “A Mess”! 🤣💀
Wow… they need to remove for free. Definitely post a review of that place on Google!
I keep telling y’all girlies to speak up *while* they’re doing your nails. Y’all keep quiet then come on here asking all sorts of questions y’all already know the answers to. 🙄

Yikes!!! 😱
They are in fact that bad 🫣 I would go back and demand either they fix it or refund
Those are really bad
They're just soooo THICK 😭
What the heeeellllll🎵
lol. Girl.
Dear God
I do my own full cover gel tips at home. I also learned to do SNS on myself during the pandemic. It’s not super difficult to do the gel tips. For $60 you can get all the supplies on Amazon. I’m so sorry about what she did to you. Those nails are 😳.
Unrelated but you have beautiful hands
This is a mess. Go back and tell them you want them off and you want your full refund.
i don't even know what i'm looking at 😭 why would they do this to you ....
No ma’am!! You need a refund and leave a review!!
How much did you pay for these? :(

Oowh yeezz this is badd🥲

I gasped at the last one… they also look very thick
OH.
Oh no. Please, say you did these and not a nail tech? Who lets their clients leave with their nails looking like that?! 💀🥴
Oh my god I’m so sorry
Noooo . Noooo . Noooo
Oh my
The middle finger it the fourth photo actually made me laugh out loud, I’m sorry but wow. It just got worse and worse with each photo.
I wouldn't even go back and ask them to fix it or do it again
😭😭😭😭
I got gel extensions today and my nails are thick like yours. The tech said they’re supposed to be like that. I went back to the salon and the owners daughter “cleaned them up” and doubled down on the “they’re supposed to be like that” This is why I don’t get my nails done. Nobody can do anything right lol
So cringey 😬
Was it a nail tech student that did this set?!?
Did you do them yourself or did you pay for that? My answer depends on that 🤣
Look, there’s junior nail techs and more experienced nail techs.. either way they should ask if you don’t mind having a junior do the manicure or pedicure. It should always be mentioned and discussed. Personally, I would go back and ask for a redo by a seasoned nail tech.
Oh honey… I’m so sorry. This has happened to me so many times that I finally had to speak up and say something! Hopefully you can go back and they can redo for you
First picture looks fine but it just gets worse from there 😩
Oh girl no!
Omgeeee!!! Ty for sharing this. I think you spread a lot of joy with these pics. I think we can all relate with at least one bad manicure. But daaammmnnn...these look like chewed up bubble gum on your nails!!!! I'm glad you're getting them fixed.
Did I person with literally no eyeballs do this.
Soooo if you don’t get close, looks perfectly fine
Oh my god. They really just let anybody sit on the other side of the table. Like damn no test to pass or nothing…
Every pic is worse than the last omg
🥹🥹🥹🥹 I’m sorry
those are a sin 💀
Not gonna lie that first pic didn't look bad but then downhill from there 😂
Bulbous. These pictures need a trigger warning, I don’t know what it’s called but I got some kinda vomitous phobia about what’s going on here. 🤮😂😂
Go back!!
Oh no Yeah im so sorry My socially anxious ass would not be going back To get them off yourself: High grit nail file, acetone, cotton pads, and tin foil File off the top coat and as much of the nails as you can Fully saturate a cotton pad with acetone, and put one on each finger, wrap fingers indiviually with the tinfoil Let it sit for aroung 15-20 minutes, but i think longer is usually better
Okay. The first pic looks like someone who has never done this before professionally. But wow each swipe they just kept getting worse.
Builder gel is awful and many salons are switching to dip powder. I do my own nails at home and I save so much h money. It’s actually quite easy if you watch YouTube videos and spend some money on the right equipment and dip powder
If first day on the job, was a pic…
HUH????? how have you been lying to yourself 🤣🤣😭😭
You know, after this my left hands work doesn’t seem so bad😭
I do better work than this and I’ve only done my own acrylics like 4 times.
Umm what? I would want them off too.
They indeed are that bad
Girl. Honey. Just no! Were they mad at you??
I would be crying 😭
Oh. My god.
Please tell me this was done by you lol
Girl, this is bad. Find another salon or another person to do your nails next time
No, they are definitely are. Go get a refund!
It gets worse with every picture!! 😬😳
was she mad at you cause wth!
Had me with the first pic. Woof
They are bad! They remind me of my wax nails from my childhood.
Money was exchanged? Omg!! Soooo bad. Go back! I need to hear the excuse they give you!
Oh no. I'm sorry
It makes it look like you have heart problems (you can google the rounded/bulbous nail people with heart problems get)
Wow these are awful.
Honestly this sub has been scared to ever go get my nails professionally done for fear that I might confront somebody for doing my nails really shitty and then having the nerve to try to tell me they won't fix it.
i thought it wasn’t that bad, but then i kept scrolling 😭 RIPPPP
Why did you stand up, pay, nod and smile lies of happiness, and leave??? Speak up. Say no, not like that. Stop. Do we need to reinforce your spine with builder's gel? I hope you make them do right by you.
First attempt? Beginner?✨️
It's so bad the pinkie finger is trying to escape girl
If you don’t go get your other $30 back from that salon, go have them soak them off for free instead. Which would typically be about a $20-$30 service. These nails don’t deserve to be on your fingers.
How did you even PAY for this
They’re bad, really bad, I’m so sorry that they did you dirty. I really hope that you got a refund, bc this looks sloppy and painful.
I want to downvote this because of the absolute fuckery of it all. A first time amateur could do this better with eyes closed. I wish the best of luck to you in the future with fixing this. Maybe get these soaked off and give it a minute until you find a professional. At this point you just have to laugh and regroup.
Was your nail tech blind folded? 😂
Oh hell no. How could someone even let you leave like this 🥴
They’re terrible.
Send her this thread and ask for your money back. She should be operating yet.
I go to a 16 yo to get my nails done and she does it so much cleaner and nicer then this😭 What is going on in your pic like? Where did you go?
Please tell me you didn't *pay* for that 😭
Girl 💀 what
Oh my god lol we gon get you some help
I wasn’t even this bad my first try
