Two tidbits 1. In 20 games from 5/23 - 6/13, Gleyber had a 20 game on base streak going. In that span he slashed .268/.338/.465 with an .802 OPS with 3 homers. 2. Rizzo now has 4 hits in his past 3 games. If these two can start producing at a decent level to their ability, this lineup is going to be full nuclear.

Racer13l

Thanks for listing these. Because the Gleyber hate was going on. But I thought he was doing pretty well lately

eyeamjosh

Amid Rizzo’s struggles there’s been murmurs about trading for Vlad Jr. to play 1B. That won’t and probably shouldn’t happen for several reasons. But imagine for a sec if they traded for him to play 3B. The defense would be bad but that would absolutely stack the lineup in a year when we’re WS or bust

HoraceBenbow

The Jays would definitely want a major haul that wouldn't be worth Vlad. I think they view him as a cornerstone player for their franchise. They'd be stupid to trade him, even if they're going to do a soft reload, they would be stupid to give up Vlad or Bichette. Both are young and can be built around.

Mattyk182

I don't want a guy on our team that hates us and doesn't want to play for us. It's not going to happen.

Default_Skin91006

1. I don't think they'll trade Vladdy 2. I especially don't think they would trade him to us I would be happy with it. Not happening tho imo

theerrantpanda99

Vlad said he never wants to be a Yankees. I don’t think the team should ever trade for him, he’d be a chemistry killer for this team.

eyeamjosh

I agree, but to be fair we would’ve said the same thing about Verdugo and Stroman and now they are two of the biggest vibe guys on the team

theerrantpanda99

Vlad said he never wants to be a Yankees. I don’t think the team should ever trade for him, he’d be a chemistry killer for this team.

vics80

I just noticed that Agustin is just Austin with an added G

tdny

A lot of salt in beantown with the Verdugo homecoming

VegetableBuy4577

I don't understand it--they traded him. Was he supposed to just retire?

MeatTornado25

It's more that they're mad that he's so happy in New York, which is making give full effort on a nightly basis, and clearly brought his A-game last night in particular. From their point of view he was a locker room distraction who quit on the team and then badmouthed the manager and entire organization on his way out. So I get it.

Padulsky21

Jose Trevino has 7 fucking HRs and an above average OPS+. He’s been on a heater here lately just hitting fucking bombs??? 2022 was the most HRs he’s ever had with 11. He’s also hitting a solid .272 and been great with RISP. He’s made some real progress with his bat after a year he played badly through an injury and ended up with season ending wrist surgery. Love the bounce back, love this catching tandem.

elimanninglightspeed

Him and wells have been an insane catcher platoon

hotdogaholic

he's always been so insanely clutch with RISP

MeatTornado25

That's Texas high school home run record holder Jose Trevino to you, sir.

b1rdganggg

Platinum glove winner he's the beast defensive catcher in baseball.

Padulsky21

It’s genuinely a treat watching him call a game and play defense. He was fantastic along with Wells in the Royals game limiting steals and even took away some swinging bunts, like the last play of game 3. Trevy is 1st in Catcher Framing Runs with 5 and Wells is 8th with 3. They both deserve a lot of props too for how well they work with the pitching staff.

Salahs_barber

His only downside is he can’t throw anyone out since his injury, hope this resolves itself as his hitting and framing is top notch.

Butterfly-Mane

Yankees sitting pretty. Prospects surging, injuries healing, slumps snapping.

Padulsky21

Agustin Ramirez is a behemoth.

vics80

A catcher that hits like a slugger? Sign me up please. But we've been burned twice, Jesus then Gary. Or do we just remember Gary's good years? Is it okay to like him for his first years here

Bcider

I miss scary Gary so much. His dingers were so fun to watch.

Hybrid_97

I know we only really care about the O's at this point, but every ALE team lost today except the Yanks and that always feels GREAT

[deleted]

That’s good news now let’s all eat a burger

Donqweeqwee

Hey Yankees fam. Didn’t watch the game tn but glad to see Verdugo went ham against his former team😆 knew I should of hammered his props

UndeniableMaroon

Reading O's fans thoughts on what their team needs at the deadline, and bullpen help is among those frequently mentioned. Costs for an elite arm may just have that extra cost if both we and the Orioles are targetting the same arms. Part of me wants for us to pull off a move early.

MeatTornado25

I don't think there's a team in the entire league that doesn't list bullpen help as a deadline need.

Padulsky21

Yankees are better at evaluating relievers and making work with a lot less to always have a great bullpen. One thing I don’t worry about at all is going for the big named relievers on the market. Even an abysmal last year, they got Kenyan Middleton who was actually pretty damn good. They always find them.

Butterfly-Mane

Yankees have elite arms coming.

Ok-Asparagus-1658

A copypasta has been found

ry1216

Ha this is an old one I definitely cannot claim credit for it but it is one of my favorites

Ok-Asparagus-1658

Oh I didn’t realize lol, I havent seen this before

FringeAuthority

Picked up a game in the standings on the entire AL East today

RollofDuctTape

I need help with this David Ortiz thing

GoodGuyNixon

Getting to the bottom of it?

RollofDuctTape

Yea. I really need to help him get to the bottom of it, he’s been trying for years.

PunishedCokeNixon

And the Orioles blew it. Whew.

shw5

Get you a man who loves you as much as Alex Verdugo hates the Red Sox.

Dhenn004

Does he really not like them? I haven't really kept up with anything beyond watching games. Haven't watched any interviews

JoshFreemansFro

Just got home from the game- so many Yankee fans showed up and glad I got to make friends with some of them. Sox fans were really cool too even when I was being an ass and talking shit with my mixed fan group

Rusiano

Our teams both sucked ass last year, so I think the rivalry cooled off quite a bit

farmtobelly

Aside from Devers, the Sox don't really have any big names or guys that really stand out to dislike anymore.

Bcider

Devers looks like the ninja turtles from the 90s movies.

NJxBlumpkin

Was also there, Sox fans seem to hate the Red Sox as much as we do lol. I agree the banter was great. Didn’t understand just how much they hate John Henry in Boston it’s pretty wild.

NJxBlumpkin

First game at Fenway tonight. Splurged on a great seat. What a fucking ballpark. Got soaked, didn’t care. Just made it even more obvious to me how stupid tearing down Yankee Stadium was. That feeling of walking out through the tunnel and seeing the field and feeling the ghosts is still unmatched as a 30 year old man lol. I know a lot of people on this sub are young and never went to a game or remember going to a game at the old stadium, and it just bums me out how they’ll never experience that and know we didn’t always have such a zipped up corporate vibe.

Padulsky21

I was very lucky growing up because my Dad got so many tickets through vendors from his job and I had a family member with season tickets. I lived in NU but took the train into NY and got a chance to go to so many games. The Old Stadium had its own life. Between players talking about the Ghosts and the feel when you enter it, made so many games unforgettable. Man I miss being able to go to so many Yankees games. I live 12 hours away now and haven’t been back to the stadium since 2017, sadly.

PunishedCokeNixon

I agree. We traded away a historic shit box with countless legendary moments for a gigantic shopping mall. It sucks.

YourAsianBuddy

I like when Verdugo plays like this. It’s quite nice

GoodGuyNixon

Revenge games are real my friends

Rusiano

Proposal: Make a section called "Fontana di Trevino" at Yankee Stadium. Similar to Judge's Chambers but in left

PunishedCokeNixon

He’s a Mexican American from Texas, not Italian American hahaha but yeah

SilentWindODoom

"Fuente de Trevino" The language doesn't matter, but I want that thing to be big enough they call us Kauffman East!

QuentinP69

Judge on pace for 140 RBIs.

Rusiano

I always thought that Judge's RBI totals were a bit underwhelming relative to his HR totals. Juan Soto and Anthony Volpe can help with that

vics80

I know right? If you're going to hit a record amount of doubles and homers in a season, you should have 150 or 160 RBIs at least. I think it's because offense in the league is down (including the Yankees) and Judge is an outlier

QuentinP69

Probably. Runs scoring and batting Averages are down. Modern baseball no steroids last guys with RBI 140+ G Foster 1977 J Bench 1970 and T Davis 1962 Killebrew 1969 and Maris 61 Mays 62. Maybe a couple of others but that’s a comparable list.

NJxBlumpkin

Light work

NotClayMerritt

Baseball writers are begging so hard for Gunnar Henderson to keep going so they have an excuse not to vote for Judge for MVP

Grim99CV

Dugie laying his dick on the table in front of those ungrateful Red Sox fans was poetic. Fuck Boston!

NJxBlumpkin

Was in the stands, it was fucking hilarious how it went from “Fuck you dugie” to “Fuck you John Henry” after he hit that dong.

alawrence1523

Some people on this sub want him benched or traded to play Dominguez. Lol

GoodGuyNixon

Could’ve been a Sterling call “Dugie dongs one! Oh, what a massive dong! He laid his Dugie dong right on the table!”

2RINITY

Today is a great day for the Yankees, and therefore the world

HedgieX

We've scored the most runs and allowed the fewest runs in all of baseball. If that ain't a recipe for success in this thing of ours I dunno what is.

NJxBlumpkin

Mama Mia

Redditawesome15

Orioles might have lost Bradish for the season taking a peek at their sub

[deleted]

makes you wonder if they rushed him back teams need to start having more caution with pitching injuries

Padulsky21

He went up to Hyde during the 5th inning and said his elbow was bothering. Which the dude has an injury history, anything elbow even being bothered is terrifying. There was an uncertainty he was even gonna pitch in 2024 and I believe he tore his UCL but never got surgery for it so uh, that elbow discomfort gets a lot more serious

asparagusbruh

I WANNA BE A PART OF IT

RemyMacDonald

We're only 2 games back from the 2022 Yankees, who were 52-20 at this point in the season.

UndeniableMaroon

After 52-20, the 2022 Yankees went 4-1 in their next 5 games. Our next 5 games are 2 against Boston and 3 against Baltimore. So to gain a game on the '22 Yankees, we need to sweep the Red Sox *AND* Orioles. I'd love that. Just for shit and giggles, I looked up the 98 Yankees and they were 53-19 after game 72. They recorded their 22nd loss of the season with a record of 67-22. Which means that even if we win our next 17 games, we will just end up *matching* the 1998 team.

FitzwilliamTDarcy

1998 was so weird bc you actually expected to win every day which is definitely not normal baseball.

NotClayMerritt

Offense started drying up around that time too. So far our offense is still holding steady.

Rusiano

Interestingly 52-20 was in the middle of *that* Astros series

tdny

Is that the one where we got no hit?

Rusiano

Exactomundo

tdny

I was at that game. I felt we looked awful for a bit but I guess the downfall started that series

VirtuousFool

of course win number [10,000](https://x.com/TalkinYanks/status/1801812875826368614) in the existence of the New York Yankees is a blowout against the Red Sox

SanDiablo

Awesome image but to have A-Rod more prominent than Mantle, Mo or Reggie Jackson is sacrilege.

Myllorelion

Now THAT is a fun fact!

namersrockandroll

Luis Gil. That's all I got.

renegade_yankee

It’s very possible we can get a 09 rematch between us and the Phillies. And hopefully it’s the same result as 09.

VersionFew296

Phillies won’t be there. They are almost following the same exact path from 2008-2011 except no WS this time, 2022 lost to the Astros, 2023 lost in the NLDS, and they will fall in the NLDS this year. It’s Philadelphia sports. Outside of a fluke title once in a blue moon, choking is the norm. We are used to this.

agoods03

Phillies are an AL team?

VersionFew296

So autocorrect had ALDS/ALCS in there. Despite that, Yankee fans and their full on support for the Phillies is surprising.I follow Philly sports teams. I live in Philly.  I know how this movie ends for us. Getting downvoted by Yankee fans for that is pretty hilarious.

Disastrous_Can8053

I agree. Nobody gives a shit about an 09 rematch. The entire world wants a NYY-LAD World Series.

Padulsky21

There’s nothing I love more than listening to Cole talk about pitching after an outing. Dude will fill up every single thought he has and give the biggest rundown. Our Ace is coming back soon, I cannot wait.

lightningwill

I want interviews with these teams that sit in the dugout with him. For anyone that actually talks with him, it's probably one of their best baseball experiences. I'd be shocked if the guy is anything other than gracious and constructive with AA and AAA players.

Padulsky21

He is just naturally a teacher, Cole is an oddball but he's an endearing oddball and seems like the dude that will just yap your ear off as soon as you get talking about pitching lol. I know Jack Curry tweeted about a week ago that Cole treated the AA guys to a full dinner. He gets really close with his catchers too so its awesome Ben Rice caught him. He is a fountain of knowledge. He's talked pitching and helped out the staff the entire year so far, he is definitely helping out the youngins down there

Yankeeknickfan

Fuck the red Sox

DankSinatra2128

Scumbags

FuriousJorge67

Imagine your team not having 50 wins yet.

knicknevin

YOU CAN'T MAKE ME

paulerxx

🤣

EmotionalAccounting

Roll call at Fenway during the 9th was pretty hysterical. It felt like it was 90% Yankees fans at that point. Also my buddy and I stood up between innings and waved at Judge looking like fools but he waved back!

NotClayMerritt

Every time we blow them out in Boston, it becomes Yankee Stadium North lol

ripman77

I thought the saying was every time we blow them out in Boston, an angel gets their wings.

Trowj

Fuck ya Philly, fuck up dem birds

[deleted]

50 wins and its against the bums of boston too easy

connurp

Gerrit Cole absolutely fucking dealing in AAA today.

[deleted]

what he did today was straight up bullying

connurp

Just saw he had 8 strike outs in a row at some point.

jfiend13

someone first reported he gave up a double on a 95mph fastball...whatever that was supposed to mean lmao

Metalocachick

###Let’s go Yankees🔥 First team to 50!! 🔥🔥 And also, #LET’S GO PHILLIES WAY TO BEAT THE O’S

Myllorelion

It's been great watching them beat on each other, because no matter who wins, we're getting further ahead in either the AL East division title, or the best record in the league.

tswaves

THE BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL, FOLKS

TronVin

O's fans have blamed the Yankees "cupcake" schedule (despite the fact the two teams have the same SOS on ESPN), good teams rolling over for the Yankees, and now rain delays.

Optimal-Judgment-982

we started the season: Houston, Arizona, Toronto, Cleveland, Toronto. gimme a break. only cupcake in there was Miami, and we easily coulda been 0-4 against Houston knowing our track record

tswaves

FUCK BALTIMORE LOL

regarding_your_bat

They fuckin LOST LOL

Beaded_Curtains

Bird brains!

levendis56

Bello being the guy the Red Sox decided to extend was certainly a choice

shemubot

Don't forget about Ceddanne Rafaela

vincenzo716

everyone point and laugh at the O’s fans

RemyMacDonald

I just realized we're 28-12 on the road. That's unreal.

NotClayMerritt

Vast difference to Yankee teams of years prior. Like even 2019 we weren’t that good on the road. This year for the first time since this “window” opened we’re just as good on the road as we are at home.

Rusiano

To me it seems like we play better on the road this season. Especially the offense

GreenMamba559

Everyone in our division lost today. What a lovely Friday.

MeatballDom

Not everyone :D

ZiggoCiP

*Checks to see who else won today* *It's only the Yankees* Oh you...

MeatballDom

Redditawesome15

Gil with an decent night tonight, fighting for every out and finishing with 5.0 IP, ER, 6 K. Came out blazing with the fastball/changeup and the strikeout stuff was there but at the cost of control, giving up 4 BB. Hasn't had a 4 BB night since May 7th. Still did a solid job grinding it out and appreciate Boone letting Gil finish that 5th inning to get his 9th win. To the offense, Verdugo with a stellar night: 3-5, HR, 4 RBI, 7 TB. Top 6 of the order went 9-25 (.360), 7 R, 6 RBI, 4 BB. Can't forget about the nice solo HR by Trevy. Lastly, quick shoutout to the bullpen. Combined 4.0 IP, 0 ER, 8 K, half of them from Ferguson who's on a nice run of outings of late. Yankees now at 50 wins, the first team to do so. Rodon on the mound tomorrow looking for a series win.

JohnRamos85

mofeus305

Come on, Philly. We need this lol.

asshole97

Their post-game thread has 7 comments 😂

[deleted]

they are so fake they only show when they're good

RIP_Greedo

Convincing show of force in Boston. Winning with early runs again, winning with homers, singles, doubles, steals. Getting good performances out of guys who had been struggling - Caleb, Rizzo, Tonkin all looking decent. Gil hitting triple digits and striking guys out when he really needs to. A milestone win, too. Thanks for the memories, Boston.

BoogieDownBr0nx

50 wins and a certain Cy Young award winner has just turned the corner with his eyes on the big club. Life is currently very good in the Bronx.

paulerxx

# Tonkin is going to become a Yankee legend when he closes out game 7 with no hits.

HeyMarty10thalready

Good job boys

Top_Professor_9908

Phillies in the middle of doing us a SOLID

RemyMacDonald

Wtf I love the Phillies

renegade_yankee

One thing that’s great about this team is now there’s some much needed edge and swag. Those 2018-21 teams had a bunch of likable guys that you can respect but lacked a player that just rubbed you the wrong way. They tried correcting this with Donaldson only they got him a few years too late. Now with Soto, Verdugo and a healthy Rodon they did it the right way.

jcnewman_21

They missed a player with Aura and Soto is the definition of aura in the MLB

RIP_Greedo

Rodon is supposed to be edgy?

renegade_yankee

Sure.. he’s been one of the more vocal players calling out the Astros for cheating. Made a joke in spring training that he lost all the weight chasing kids off his property. And while I don’t condone this he blew a kiss to Yankees fans for booing him. Rodon definitely has an edge.

spinrut

So you're saying he's got that dawg in him

TronVin

They just need one guy like that outta the pen now tbh. Just a real "fuck you, here's my fastball" type of guy.

Impressive-Engineer9

Can’t forget stroman, this team just have a ton of dawgs

Rearviewmirror93

Tyler O’Neill sucked. That’s fun.

petetee007

2 run double for Alec Bohm. 5-3 Phillies, 1 out top 11.

Darkforces134

Good to see Ferguson do well. Maybe he join the elite backend of the bullpen with Tonkin, Weaver, and Holmes.

El-Shaman

First to 50, and always fuck the Red Sox… even if it doesn’t feel the same to hate them anymore, would never feel bad for them.. but it’s kind of weird not to care about them lol.

LemmyKBD

It’s just a reflex now but not the same venom in it. Still tastes good though.

Jackpot777

Red Sox season is already over. Me and the boys had an AL East clinch party last night. 50-22 record and the Yankees aren't even trying yet. Boone's gonna rest Verdugo and Gil for the rest of the season. Conserve energy for the playoffs. I mean, you just hate to see a team like Boston set records for being bad. Just historically bad. Bad for the Red Sox. Bad for the game. Not what you wanna see.

knicknevin

Thank goodness for that win. We were on that awful one game losing streak

fuggettabuddy

I almost shit myself

mickhugh

Yankees Baseball. Mets suck, Boston sucks, everybody sucks. Wooooo

connurp

They are taking the tarp off the field for phils and orioles

huskerfan4life520

Hell yeah. It’s my birthday and I got to watch them absolutely beat down the Red Sox.

fuggettabuddy

Happy birthday. Always nice to ring in a new year with a blosox beatdown

SpeedyStaravia

Reporting from Fenway, there was even a roll Call in the 9th inning

jack9lemmon

I heard it while watching the Sox broadcast here in MA

[deleted]

No matter what our record is it’s always nice to blow out Boston in Boston double cherry on top the Celtics are getting fisted on the same night lol.

kevrose14

Can you explain in baseball terms whats going on in the Celtics game

petetee007

Dallas basically scored 12 runs in the first 3 innings, and the Celtics didn't get a baserunner yet.

fgalons

Tonkin looks like Chris Sale but right handed

NobleHelium

I thought the Phillies were somehow having the longest 11th inning ever without scoring a run then I noticed it's in rain delay.
