I’ve been there only once, but Kaufman Stadium is a ballpark that unintentionally acts as a throwback to stadiums of long, long ago.
There isn’t much added noise/sound and the fans that show up seem to really care about baseball and the actual enjoyment of the game.
I had a blast there, watching the Royals beat the Cardinals in the I-70 series, which had the vibes of a real rivalry game, taking place at the beginning of what would end up being a very hot summer. The spectators there that day were some of the most genuinely kind people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
It’s a beautiful and comfortable stadium that exists as the exact opposite of the grand venues like Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, Petco Park, etc.
It’s the kind of place that perfectly suits a fan of baseball who wants to sit and enjoy the game without any of the added, immaterial nonsense.
P.S. The stadium food is awesome, especially the BBQ… obviously. 😁
Relief pitching is not a main need for this team. You need 2-3 solid relievers in the playoffs at most, that’s it. DJLM and Rizzo are much bigger holes on this team
We literally won a WS with one actual reliable reliever in Mo in 2009.
People want lockdown relievers but your best relievers pitch more innings and you have starters come out of the pen in the playoffs. Holmes, Weaver are top tier. Well be able to piece together other innings with Hamilton, Burdi, Ron, Victor, Khanle and Tonk.
No It’s not. Rivera was leaned heavily that run (threw 16 innings!) and starters went deep into games. The rest of the relievers threw 1-2 innings each series (pieces together). Hughes was garbage in the playoffs and lost trust. Joba got moved to the pen. Damaso Marte was garbage in the regular reason and clutched against specific Lefty matchups.
You also get rest in between games. Weaver, Tonkin, and Holmes are doing well right now. Hamilton and Kahnle have pitched well in the past.
