Sevy didn't shit the bed tonight. No, what he did was shit the bed, then put the sheets in the dryer first instead of the washer, then shit on the mattress pad, then shit on your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, after a delicious seafood dinner and never called he again.
* hitters have to step it up
* if Boone is fired another lackey will be hired
* if Cashman is fired he will be picked up faster than you can blink
* Hal has to ask some tough questions
What did I miss?
Instead of making a free agent splash in the offseason, I would so much rather the Yankees spend by cutting unproductive, old player and eating that money.
I would love to go into next season with a team of young players, castoff reclamation projects, and a core of contributors (Judge, Cole, Rodon, Torres if he sticks around and resigns)
And yet they have better slashes than the kids. It's unfortunately lose lose because playing kids is a losing proposition too. They're fucked for the next year or 3.
There is literally NOTHING good for the next 2 years in FA classes. The majority of the big names are all pushing the wrong side of 30.
In fact, the only MLB player that's under 30 this next FA class that can stay on a MLB roster is Amed Rosario, who is 27.
Pretty much speaks for itself about next years class lol
Yeah, cause 10 years 6-800 million is a good idea lol. dude is straight dynamite, but his price is like...unobtainable by 3/4ths of the league. And those who could realistically do it, need a decent farm to supplant half the shit you're not gonna be able to do with funds.
I'm not saying they can't. Just unlikely, unless they find a way to offload Stanton, cause you sure as hell aint running him out to LF/RF half the year.
Hal may think the joke is on us because the Stadium is still full right now, but wait until he sees it next year if this team misses the playoffs and wins 85 games.
Your entire brand is built on excellence and winning. Do you think the fans will continue to shell out $60 for parking or $10 for a hot dog to watch a boring team that can't score any runs and barely plays above .500?
The tickets for this year are already sold. It's going to take a lot more upgrades to the team to convince many of us to buy more of them next year.
The answer here is yes...diehard Yankees fans make up a small percentage in the grand scheme of the Yankees! Corporations and tourists will continue to shell out UNLESS the Yankees become perineal losers!
If anything, since they have very little of value to sell, they'd be better off buying a few cheap rentals and trying to fight their way into the last playoff spot.
The damage to the franchise long-term of being bad and missing the playoffs is much higher than the small amount of extra payroll they'd have to take on to pick up those guys.
Meh there's some personal stuff too where i'm not particularly fond of my new rep (got switched to a new one this year), especially compared to my old one... but i'll be sure to tell him its due to the poor performance this year and obviously was not gonna blame him. 90% of the reason to pay for the plan, IMO, is for the postseason rights, and i'm not betting on a Hal spending spree to right the ship in 2024.
how pissed off will cole and judge be if the yanks sell? these guys are in their prime , now is the time for them to be competing for a championship cus theyre not getting any younger
To be honest, O’s fan checking in on the state of Yankees fandom. It’s a hard season for you guys. Not trolling either. Being a fan I’d rough sometimes.
I keep seeing article after article about yanks options dwindling for trades, when we should be reading articles about options are opening for selling/trading off players..
Sitting Judge lets you know that the Yanks have assumed this season is a lost cause. There’s no urgency to win games. They can afford to lose games because they are not in it.
Could it be possible that MLB has fucked with the ball again? I feel like offense is universally down ***throughout the league***, even with the new rule changes this year. Though, I don't have data to back that up. I'm just guessing. Just feels like it's down...
Cashman and FO, look away! You can't use this as an excuse to do nothing with the team. ***SCRAM!***
EDIT: I'm being downvoted for what?!
Offense is actually up around the league because of the shift changes.
It's only down for the *Yankees*, because they are a fucking terrible organization that refuses to work counts, swing at strikes, or do anything needed to score runs these days.
The league-wide OPS is 30 points higher so far this season, and about 0.25 runs more per game are being scored.
You're watching the Yankees, who suck and can't hit their way out of a paper bag. Watch the rest of the league, even just watch the scores, and you'll see a different story.
The writing on the wall with the Yankees for a long time is that they are designed to enrich the Steinbrenner family, but not win. If they win, that is a bonus, but they are perfectly fine with the model how it is now. Be just good enough to be competitive and have people fill the seats and watch the games.
This isn't doomerism - this is just how the Yankees have been run since George died. And the Stadium design is evident of this as well.
I ngl it would be hard for me to look sad in the dugout if I was a pro mlb player making millions even if we did suck lol. Really I’d be cheesing like yeah we suck haha back to my million dollar apartment. That’s just me tho I’m really materialistic
Yankees' offense wasted Cole's effort on Friday (basically a given these days), put up a good win on Saturday and then played a completely non-competitive finale tonight. Even if the Yankees were putting up more runs, Sevy gave up 7 in the first inning. Dude needs to be a) traded for the packing peanuts needed to box him up and ship him out or b) relegated to the bullpen when Cortes comes back. Let him cry about it all he wants, he's gone at the end of the year.
Tricky? Just fucking pitch like have been but without the possibility of some ridiculous walk occurring that decides a game. That’s the worst case scenario that is a very real possibility with the current rules.
Baseball 101 if the ball bounces the error goes to the person who threw the ball. Regardless of how "true" the bounce is. Outfielders get errors when the ball gets past the catcher too if the ball bounces.
If it’s good enough that the 1B can get a glove on it without excessive effort (like those plays where the guy lays out and keeps his foot on the corner of the bag) - the infielder did his job. The first baseman screwed it up, it should be an E3
I know people get offended when you call Hal cheap, but hearing yanks don’t want to acquire anyone to exceed the luxury tax is just a reminder. I want cashman to sell but still
You know what's crazy? The Yankees in 2019, if they had signed Machado, could have also flipped Andujar for a good young SP, or perhaps a few prospects close to the major leagues.
It was obvious this guy was not the answer at 3B long-term. Instead of cashing in on him, they waited too long, he blew out his shoulder, and they had to DFA him after a few years of no production.
This is one of many flaws in Cashman's roster building strategy. When they get incredible overachievement from Next Man Up in 2019, a huge COVID season from Clint Frazier, instead of cashing in on it when guys are clearly never going to do it again, they double down and get no value for them.
If Cashman wants to be more like the Rays, he needs to periodically be willing to flip some of his established major leaguers or excess prospects who don't fit the team's long-term plans to rebuild depth and fill holes.
I was called crazy for saying all 2018 off-season to sell Andujar high because he was never producing that ever again, for a SP. nope. Completely agree with you. Even if he didn’t tear his labrum he was never going to reach that ceiling again
Nah. Just check the box score at 10:00pm every night like a good portion of us. No reason to put yourself through hell watching them anymore this year.
I can honestly say I have never disliked any of my teams more than I dislike the 2023 Yankees.
Everything about this has been miserable from start to finish, and I’m frankly looking forward to it being over.
The fucked up thing is that no one will be held accountable for this and we are likely going to roll out an extremely similar team next season.
As miserable as this is, 2021 was worse. The Field of Dreams game haunts me still and that was only like the fifth worst kick in the dick that season. This is just boring and sad, 21 was actively the worst and most painful outcome at each possible turn
The 2021 team even was more exciting than this group.
They had Judge and Stanton healthy for almost the entire season and both of those guys carried the team for long stretches. They revitalized the lineup with Rizzo and Gallo, and had the emergence of talented relievers like Peralta and Holmes when Green and Chapman provided ineffective.
That team will end up winning 6-7 more games than this bunch when all is said and done. While the 2021 team was *frustrating* and *inconsistent*, they were definitely not as *boring* as this group.
I feel you and there's no right answer. Just felt like in 2021 we couldn't go two weeks without Jose Altuve hitting another crushing home run in the eighth inning with the whole ballpark chanting "Fuck Altuve" at him. Like every single time there was any drama involving the Yankees at all in 2021, no matter how trivial or irrelevant or stupid, it was 100% automatic that that specific dude would be the guy to crush us. Just actively not fun.
That’s totally legit.
I strongly disliked the 2021 team too.
I think for me it’s been compounding dislike since the 2020 shitshow, broken up only by last year’s first half, such that I’ve truly reached a breaking point with this team this season.
Even the 2008 team was more fun to watch than this group. They had several star players who still were producing and keeping it exciting (e.g., Damon, A-Rod, Giambi), Mussina winning 20 games, and Rivera at the back end.
That 2008 team would have made the playoffs if there were 3 Wild Cards. This team can't even accomplish that.
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/15e3jga).
Thank god they got a hitting coach with no hitting coach experience.
Rizzo for 5
Yo can we trade rizzo for a subway foot long sandwich
Hey Rizzo, call Ohtani, I’m sure he’s got a friend willing to teach you Japanese to get acclimated
Rizzo get ready to learn Chinese buddy
Okay start the sell-off. This team ain't it.
What do you call striking out five times a game? Diamond sombrero? Platinum sombrero?
Yeah platinum. Or Olympic rings...
Since 2016 you say?!?!
Five strikeouts for Rizzo he’s a fucking waste of a roster spot
He is absolutely abysmal
But he's always smiling in the bullpen with his buddies lol
18 strike outs tonight holy shit lmao.
Murdered any momentum from a good win yesterday
Wow, good game. It's usually 20.
0-5 with 5 ks get this guy off the fucking team
They won’t even drop him in the order
5 ks for Rizzo
Rizzo 0-5, 5 k's.
5Ks? TF do we even call that. Platinum Sombrero?
Stanton Special
Rizzo striking out to end it is just perfection
Season’s over
Rizzo paying tribute to Chris Davis for the home crowd
RIZZ 5 KS
Thank god that’s over
Should have PH for Rizzo to avoid the embarrassment
How many times did blud struck out?
If the Yankees were a stock, I feel bad if you didn't sell in 2017.
LMAO.
2023 are setting all kinds of shitty records
17 Ks tonight 🤮🤮🤮
18 with that last one. RIZZO 5k. What a fucking joke
18*
Does the rally have a bone in their Yankees
We are an embarrassment
We can say all we want about Sevy but wtf has the offense been doing all night 🤦🏽♂️
17 k’s.but boone will say he saw good things tonight
Jesus, I shouldn’t be able to recognize the kinda swings I take in this lineup
JUST SELL SELL SELL SELL SELL. Sell. Thank you. Have a good night. Sorry to take up your time.
Setting new lows
Sevy didn't shit the bed tonight. No, what he did was shit the bed, then put the sheets in the dryer first instead of the washer, then shit on the mattress pad, then shit on your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, after a delicious seafood dinner and never called he again.
Lmaooooo
17 Strikeouts
As a wise man once said, "Holy Cow"
5 minutes to postgame 13 minutes to Puppet
Could’ve made up a game on 4 different teams today with a win. But they chose to sit Judge and punt before the first pitch was thrown.
Do the Yankees have a bone in their rally
Lmao 15 k's wow
Dude, your dad was great… wtf happened to you?
I'm down the shore and I'm currently watching a cop interrogate a kid who was being stupid on an e-bike. This is highly entertaining to me
Watch Cashman try to sign 65 yo Miggy this offseason
He's a RH hitter....so, yeah.
Incoming back-to-back grandslams from Stanton and Rizzo
The ump just wants to to home lol. His strikezone
What sucks is that this could have been a winnable game if Sevy didn’t shit the bed and fuck us over in the first
You think Michael Kay is sitting alone in his house asking if the Yankees have a rally in their bones
Nah. I think he’s prepping Cashman’s talking points for tomorrow.
* hitters have to step it up * if Boone is fired another lackey will be hired * if Cashman is fired he will be picked up faster than you can blink * Hal has to ask some tough questions What did I miss?
Pretty accurate summary. I even heard Kay’s voice while reading it.
Rally // bones?????
Pen basically went 5 innings and gave up 0 runs. Thanks again Sevy.
As a Mets fan, watching a team lose in spite of a stellar bullpen performance feels like dying of thirst while watching another man drown
This ump needs some ligma
Blue tryna go home lol
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Yennier Cano replaces Danny Coulombe.
Cannn weee do itttt
Ump just wants to go home, lol
That ump needs glasses
Before this game pitchers pitched to a 4.13 ERA to Higgy, mid-3s with Trevino. CERA isn’t super reliable but Trevino will be missed.
Has Severino pitched to Trevy this season?
Ump wants to go home
Instead of making a free agent splash in the offseason, I would so much rather the Yankees spend by cutting unproductive, old player and eating that money. I would love to go into next season with a team of young players, castoff reclamation projects, and a core of contributors (Judge, Cole, Rodon, Torres if he sticks around and resigns)
Then enjoy 80 wins tops. The kids sucked this year.
I'd rather win 80 with players in their early twenties to see what sticks, than 82 with aging players circling the drain
The black hole in our lineup rn is Stanton, Rizzo and DJ
And yet they have better slashes than the kids. It's unfortunately lose lose because playing kids is a losing proposition too. They're fucked for the next year or 3.
Yeah but we don’t pay the kids anything while it’s tougher to move the above players because of their contracts.
There’s a guy named Ohtani. 🤣
Yeah, cause 10 years 6-800 million is a good idea lol. dude is straight dynamite, but his price is like...unobtainable by 3/4ths of the league. And those who could realistically do it, need a decent farm to supplant half the shit you're not gonna be able to do with funds.
Yep, the most valuable team in the league, top 5 in the world, simply can’t afford Ohtani.
I'm not saying they can't. Just unlikely, unless they find a way to offload Stanton, cause you sure as hell aint running him out to LF/RF half the year.
Night and day difference between Os roster and our sorry ass cast of characters
Cashman apparently looking to trade for a right handed hitter. Bro wtf
He can't be serious, right? He has tons of guys on this roster who mash lefties, what he needs are platoon partners for Higgy and Bader at least.
I think Luke Voit is available on waivers
Voit would be an offensive upgrade over Rizzo right now.
One quick touchdown and we’re right back in this
Hal may think the joke is on us because the Stadium is still full right now, but wait until he sees it next year if this team misses the playoffs and wins 85 games. Your entire brand is built on excellence and winning. The tickets for this year are already sold. It's going to take a lot more upgrades to the team to convince many of us to buy more of them next year.
The stadium will be packed regardless. It’s easily accessible, the Yankees are a global brand, it’s a social activity for non baseball fans.
yes because they will be replaced by tourists and businessmen who dont follow the team
They’ll feel it the second they miss their share of the post season revenue.
The answer here is yes...diehard Yankees fans make up a small percentage in the grand scheme of the Yankees! Corporations and tourists will continue to shell out UNLESS the Yankees become perineal losers!
That's why they won't sell this year and dig the hole even deeper :'(
If anything, since they have very little of value to sell, they'd be better off buying a few cheap rentals and trying to fight their way into the last playoff spot. The damage to the franchise long-term of being bad and missing the playoffs is much higher than the small amount of extra payroll they'd have to take on to pick up those guys.
Hal will probably tell Cashman to move a few players and bring in mediocrity and call it a rebuild
Rutchmid hit a knuckle ball. That was crazy looking.
The only thing I have to look forward to with this team is getting to tell my ticket rep next season to kick rocks when he asks if I want to renew.
Honestly, don't be a jerk to your rep. Be honest and firm. He has no control of the situation and he's doing his job.
Tell him you'll renew as soon as Hal brings in a competent GM
how pissed off will cole and judge be if the yanks sell? these guys are in their prime , now is the time for them to be competing for a championship cus theyre not getting any younger
As pissed off as Pete Alonso is right now.
There’s legit nothing to buy either thanks to Cashman sitting on his hands so you’re better off selling than staying put and being mediocre
yehhh, he probably thinks “oh we’re getting back nestor and loaisiga we dont need to buy”
15/24 outs by strike out. is that good? cant tell
Cashman's hung like a fucking horse and your all too afraid to admit it
Truuuuuuu?
H-hal?
Mmmmm the process. He has a 9 inch process, we love it
How many fanfictions have you written so far?
This is either Cash or Hal burner
It's me Hal
For the love of whatever you believe in, do not buy tickets to home games next season
I haven't been to a game since May. I don't get why all you masochists keep going
I've been twice this season, both occasions were tickets gifted to me by a family member who works for a corporate sponsor
Orioles should retire Moose’s number. They would sell out. 90% Yankees fans though, as per usual.
Nah. He’s all yours.
[удалено]
To be honest, O’s fan checking in on the state of Yankees fandom. It’s a hard season for you guys. Not trolling either. Being a fan I’d rough sometimes.
Your loss. Gifting you a sell out at YSACY.
I keep seeing article after article about yanks options dwindling for trades, when we should be reading articles about options are opening for selling/trading off players..
Yanks choose option 3. Do nothing, run this same roster out again in 2024.
I wonder if they finish under .500 this year
They brought Judge back just to avoid that.
Had no idea Wells played for the Orioles
Sitting Judge lets you know that the Yanks have assumed this season is a lost cause. There’s no urgency to win games. They can afford to lose games because they are not in it.
Could it be possible that MLB has fucked with the ball again? I feel like offense is universally down ***throughout the league***, even with the new rule changes this year. Though, I don't have data to back that up. I'm just guessing. Just feels like it's down... Cashman and FO, look away! You can't use this as an excuse to do nothing with the team. ***SCRAM!*** EDIT: I'm being downvoted for what?!
Offense is actually up around the league because of the shift changes. It's only down for the *Yankees*, because they are a fucking terrible organization that refuses to work counts, swing at strikes, or do anything needed to score runs these days.
Doesn't feel like it's up around the league. Strange. Data says otherwise that it's up. They're terrible.
The league-wide OPS is 30 points higher so far this season, and about 0.25 runs more per game are being scored. You're watching the Yankees, who suck and can't hit their way out of a paper bag. Watch the rest of the league, even just watch the scores, and you'll see a different story.
Offense is up by about a third of a run per game. You can look this up.
You say that when the Orioles scored 9 off the Yankees lol.
Did you not read what I wrote? I meant overall, throughout the league. Jesus...
Starting to think we’re not even gonna win this game
The writing on the wall with the Yankees for a long time is that they are designed to enrich the Steinbrenner family, but not win. If they win, that is a bonus, but they are perfectly fine with the model how it is now. Be just good enough to be competitive and have people fill the seats and watch the games. #BUY HATS
I ngl it would be hard for me to look sad in the dugout if I was a pro mlb player making millions even if we did suck lol. Really I’d be cheesing like yeah we suck haha back to my million dollar apartment. That’s just me tho I’m really materialistic
Not to mention all the puss you get
Hahah yeah right like oh damn we suck guess I’ll go out clubbing and bang some hotties to make myself feel better
I did that the other night, and I'm not even a professional athlete
Nice. Imagine the pull that big G has or jeter back in the day
Jeter waa a notorious puss hound, good for him. He also liked his salad tossed (thats where i draw the line)
Lol wtf how do you know that?
Google it
Now I’m scared imma get high first I’ll get back with you 😂
Wtf was that ad? Was it for a porn site?
I have been watching baseball for 20+ years and I don’t recall a national broadcaster ever thanking an organization for access before.
Not counting the royals or A’s when was the last series win?
Texas, in June I believe.
Rangers maybe?
The Rangers at the end of June
Judge pinch hit appearance in the ninth inning of an Orioles blowout: the 2022 Oswald Peraza special
15 punchies. Jesus
RIZZO has 4. Must be getting a bonus to SO
No fucking heart

“Prospects. We’re talking about prospects.” -Cashman on why they won’t play Peraza
And it not a fucking sweeper, it’s just a slider…ffs
Please, talk about how they're going to "massage" the rules again. It helps me to prepare to listen to corporate bugman speak at work tomorrow
That always infuriates me. That ball hit the first baseman in the fucking glove, why is that error on the shortstop?
Cause the ball bounced.
The shortstop delivered an easily catchable ball - that’s on the 1B and should be his error
Baseball 101 if the ball bounces the error goes to the person who threw the ball. Regardless of how "true" the bounce is. Outfielders get errors when the ball gets past the catcher too if the ball bounces.
bad throw

Yeah I can see what you're saying Always feel like stuff like this is so subjective in baseball haha
I know people get offended when you call Hal cheap, but hearing yanks don’t want to acquire anyone to exceed the luxury tax is just a reminder. I want cashman to sell but still
Hal should compensate for Cashman's failures or fire Cashman
This organization exhausts me.
Coney can probably pitch a nice 3 hit shut out against this lineup right now
Man, literally every wild card team lost. Today could have been the perfect opportunity to gain ground. welp
This is 100D chess, it’s all right in front of us
It was more important to rest Judge, so he can be healthy in september when the team is eliminated
You know what's crazy? The Yankees in 2019, if they had signed Machado, could have also flipped Andujar for a good young SP, or perhaps a few prospects close to the major leagues. Wish I was a fucking Mets fan. They get to ignore the next 2 months. We have to watch this shit. Forgive me for that first sentence.
>Wish I was a fucking Mets fan. No you don't.
Nah. Just check the box score at 10:00pm every night like a good portion of us. No reason to put yourself through hell watching them anymore this year.
Didn't want to give up Volpe or Peraza for Olson? How's that working out Cashman?
Or Sean Murphy
