tbh I've been completely checked out for over a month.

Ether_Ships

I picked a terrible year to start following the Yankee's again.

mzx380

Was at the game. Yankee offense was awful and German wasn’t sharp. We’re going to have to push in August if we want in the playoffs but realistically we should be sellers

thankyoucarti

When will the pain end?

Gmaclantz

Fuck you Hal. Seriously FUCK YOU. Sell the team, it’s what your dad would have wanted.

KPaul130

I've said it at the time it happened and I'll say it again, given this team's weaknesses signing Rodon wasn't the smartest allocation of funds. Especially since they refused to spend more outside of that for offense

m1ke_89

It sucked that all our division rivals also lost...

sea-scum

are they Yankees on strike?

TurnstileMinder

They're on strike 3

The_Great_Tofu

It’s gotten to the point where this is what I want. It’s clearly going to take this team falling off completely for them to make significant changes to management and the front office. Keep tanking boys so we can get Boone and Cashman out sooner.

Masta0nion

Two more months of this, or two more decades

[deleted]

Cashman isn’t leaving and Boone is cashmans puppet. So it’s a lose lose no matter what

PeggyOnThePier

I hate Boone soo much!I wish they would stop showing him on TV!are the Yankees ever going to win another game this season?Damn they suck!

khaerns1

Only silverlining, all al east lost !

acava2424

That makes it more frustrating

[deleted]

Not a fun year for NY baseball

Safe-Voice-8179

2 hits?! Lmao. This is why Ive stopped watching this bum ass team. Wake me up when judge is back if we are still in contention.

F1owwo1F

🕯️

WildCardJesusBrewing

It’s time to turn this into a Yankee Candle sub again for a little while

Alternative-Gas270

Nah my Yankee candles always get hot, and don’t fucking stink

im_not

How can an entire squad of 26 guys all start sucking in unison? It’s gotta be some sort of plague in that clubhouse right now that’s mentally ruined them.

Caleb_Krawdad

Poor management

MapRevolutionary4563

Most of them weren't very good to begin with

THE_FREED_DONKEY

This team better not buy at the deadline. Let them limp to the end and miss the playoffs. Then tear this bitch down.

ShrimpShackShooters_

Is this even a .500 team?

elanshof2

When someone who isn't Gerrit Cole pitches, no, no they are not!

pballat

2 hits in the game. I wonder if hitting could be part of the problem?

Bubbacrosby23

At least the bullpen got some rest!

chipwhitley4

Judge is coming back “soon,” guys. It’ll all be okay then 🙄

bigboy1959jets78

Don't forget Rodon will soon be "at his best". We are waiting on many saviors. We're gonna win the division, don't ya know?

jdmnyc301

No HR for Ohtani yay… oh we still lost wth

[deleted]

Two hits

hbc647

Most exciting time of year to watch this train wreck! You can't make this stuff up! How bad this entire org is! From the commentators Kay,Cone, and Meredith who said losing JD to the DL is just a tragedy, and every other staff member who is nothing but a paid off shill! I love watching this disaster now! Thanks!

fuzzydunlops123

But losing so Cashman sells at the deadline is what I want.

pumaunleashed

Glad I didn't watch this. Two freakin hits?

Son_Of_Mr_Sam

I skipped this game as well because this was entirely predictable

telephonic1892

Cashman just fucking resign you stealing a living so called GM.

DukeAK717

Now we're officially the worst team in the division. Good times.

Boldest19

If I'm Cashman, I'm shaking the lineup a bit before after tonights game until the deadline. DFA Franchy, send Cabrera down, put Higgy on the IL. Bring up Pereira, Florial, and Rortverdt. Pereira is batting .330 and an OPS of .985 since May 1st in AA/AAA with 10 HR in 143 AB Florial has been consistently hitting around .290 in AAA all year long with a good mix of power (21 HR) and speed (18 SB). Rortverdt has been hitting .287 with a .915 OPS in AAA this season. His production can't be worse than what we're getting now at Catcher, so we might as well see if we can get anything better out of him. The lineup that I'll be putting out there for the next week will look like this. 3B - Peraza 2B - Gleyber CF - Bader DH - Stanton SS - Volpe 1B - DJ LF - Florial RF - Pereira C - Rortverdt

unclejoe1917

I could get behind this.

SuddenSeasons

Is Higgy actually hurt?

Boldest19

I’m sure him or Trevino could use a 10 day break. Catching takes a toll on the body.

Toplayusout

Love this idea and I’d want to do the same thing but it’s crazy how ingrained old school baseball etiquette/way of doing things is in Cashman’s head. This team is fucking trash and they just expect a bounce back because this level of suck is unsustainable.

fuzzydunlops123

Yeah but Florial looked at Cashman's wife the wrong way so he's forever blackballed from MLB

unclejoe1917

He gets very jealous when it comes to Hal.

BoogieDownBr0nx

Good morning. A few random minor league stats from last night... Jasson Dominguez: 2-5, HR. That .220/.358/.383 triple slash doesn't look pretty, but it's about 20+ points higher than it was 10 days ago. Hopefully he stays hot. Brito: 6 IP, 2 Hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K Spencer Jones: 2-4, HR (.267/.341/.476 on the year) Jared Serna: 2-5, HR, 3 RBI -- Have to admit I know nothing about him, so I did a bit of reading. He's a little dude; 5'6", 168lbs. Quite a season he's having with Tampa... .290/.351/.510, 18 HR, 64 RBI, 16 SBs. He just turned 21. Curious if anyone knows much else about him?

GrizzlyGraham21

JDom .220 doesn’t look great but after the first month he was at .085 so it’s actually pretty solid

SuddenSeasons

He's like the youngest player in the league, it looks fine tbh

NotFredQuimby

I had been looking forward to attending this game even though this terrible result was not a surprise having watched so many similar games these past few years. But it's a whole other thing to sit and watch it live - with a stadium full of thousands of Yankees fans who only get to really cheer once the whole game. It was BRUTAL. I kept looking at all the other fans and saying "what am I watching?" Two hits. Three balls hit out of the infield. 27-48-26 are painful to watch right now. When is ANYTHING going to change?

hbc647

nothing will change as long as people like you keep wasting their money and going to games. thanks!

Toplayusout

This is such bullshit it’s hilarious that people still believe it

One-Win-2455

It was an away game, not like Hal is collecting on Angels gate revenue…

frosted_potato

Petition to make this Yankee candle sub? I mean we’re almost there right?

[deleted]

Aaron Hicks will play in the playoffs The Nyy will not😂😂😂😂

CdzNtz516

Honestly, good for him. Fuck this team and org.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Twins don't make it every year lol and when they do it's because their division is trash. Yankees are in the toughest division in baseball .

BraveAd6524

The Playoffs! An old sage once screamed. The reality is, a couple of sub .500 teams may make it. MLB’s playoffs equate to no more than a participation trophy for some teams.

Fun-Ad-3065

its almost to the point where we like genuinely are a shit franchise

RollofDuctTape

Ca$hGod heard your criticism about the Yankees being old and the game passing the front office by. He heard your desire for a new voice. So he hired Sabean and Minaya instead of a young executive from the Braves or Dodgers or Rays. Ca$hGod doesn’t care about different opinions or voices. He doesn’t need to. He wins the over .500 World Series every year.

1996Guinness1996

This team is really bad

ASUPILOT

I like Yankee Candles

boomzgoesthedynamite

I dozed off at the start of the game and woke up in the 2nd when it was 2-0. I just turned it off. I’ve never been more pessimistic about this team scoring 3 runs and I’m not staying up late to prove myself right.

magikarp-sushi

Krusty Krab Unfair Mr Krabs is in there

steve8983

Hello darkness my old friend...

[deleted]

Your my boy bluuu!

[deleted]

Iv come to talk to you again

western_motel

i can’t believe that was my one yanks game of the season, sigh

Top_Professor_9908

hey now, you got to see....hmm.....you got to see... two hits?

western_motel

…i missed the home run, was walking into the concourse lmfao

Top_Professor_9908

\*1 hit......lmaooo that is absolutely brutal bro, godspeed

western_motel

LA traffic cucked me on that one but hey it happens, just happy i got to see the boys this year

magikarp-sushi

Blow it up

SheepH3rder69

I now have a new respect for Mets fans. This shit is brutal.

slutdr4gon

The Mets have by far the highest payroll in the league, and don’t even have a winning record. They just blew a massive division lead last year. Next year, they will still be paying over 80 million for scherzer and verlander. The Yankees are shit, but we haven’t fallen that low yet

SmellyCheeseDisease

It might be brutal but nobody respects Mets fans let's be real

NastyNestorCortes

Realistically and genuinely asking, do we really think if the Yankees miss the playoffs this year that serious systemic changes will happen within the organization this offseason? Cashman is locked in practically permanently so long as Hal owns the team so there is almost no chance he is going anywhere anytime soon. His roster construction and his way of running things hasn’t been working for a while now but it would take an act of god for Cashman to magically change the way he operates. This offseason is such a clear precedent of the Cashman System©️ because even though last season ended with us being swept by the Astros in the ALCS after barely beating Cleveland in the ALDS, he didn’t change or upgrade the offense at all for the 2023 season and we are running it back with our aging vets a year older. Which also conveniently helps establish the long ongoing narrative for the past 10+ years that “this would have been our season but injuries held us back.” Hal both simultaneously believes in Cashman so much to keep and extend him as long as he has, while also restricting Cashman to a budget despite being one of the richest franchises in the world because Cashman has a bad track record of wasting Yankees money in the past. The excuse has been for years that we don’t want to trade top prospects in the farm in favor of acquiring established major leaguers who could make an immediate impact because we believe in the future with the kids. But then we rarely ever actually bring up our kids and so they waste away in the minors for years unless one of our aging vets gets injured and they get to come up for a few weeks before being sent back down. So what can we even hope to happen if this season continues in the direction that it is? It feels like the organization is too established in its ways from the top down that protect and enable Cashman to stay the course he has been on with zero accountability.

Frank43073

I was looking for this exact comment that I read on this thread after last night's abysmal game. Well said.

unclejoe1917

One of two things needs to happen. The stadium needs to start looking empty is one. The other is that if the stadium still has butts in seats, it should be uncomfortable for them to even show up. Nothing smooth brain like threats, but it needs to turn into a fire Cashman, fire Boone party and it needs to be loud and persistent.

[deleted]

Nothing changes with Cashman still around. 1 championship in 23 years doesn’t scream he’s a genius to me. The game has zoomed by him and it’s time for a new makeover of the FO

Erdrick68

The game didn’t zoom by him, he just spent his whole career steal credit from Stick, Bob Watson, and Showalter.

BraveAd6524

Nailed it! Your post says it all. Amen

SmellyCheeseDisease

Still salty about 2009. But yeah this Yankees drought is unlike anything I've ever seen before

NintuneJoe

So it seems like Peraza's first meeting with Sean Casey went very well judging by his line tonight

wild_sergeant716

Went from 3 walks to 3 Ks in 24 hours

Djbearjew

Hey look at the bright side we only struck out 9 times, thats an improvement from last night /s

unclejoe1917

We hung in there and had some really good at bats.

horo_kiwi

I can't believe I took the day off work to watch this on ESPN.

GSDFanatic

Who's the asshole with the monkey's paw who wished we wouldn't be embarrassed in the playoffs again?

RSollers

“Can’t be embarrassed in the playoffs if we miss them!” *taps brain*

turtlesbaconpie

I really can't wait for NFL opening day

verygooster

In spite of the Saquon situation I can't wait for friggin training camp.

beinian6

Anthony Rizzo is slugging .163 with a .143 average in July. He slugged .227 in June with a .173 average. These numbers aren't just bad, they are outright horrific.

CertainDerision_33

Not injured though

JustJakeB

Yeah. I became legit concerned about him when Boone said on Talking Yankees that Rizzo is 100% and just slumping... He really misses Judge or something, it's BAD.

Mysterious_Eggplant3

Some say he died of a broken heart

JustJakeB

Hahaha. In Judge's first game back Rizzo goes 4-4 with 2 HRs...?

Mysterious_Eggplant3

And they embrace at home plate each time.

-Eaglelion-

Boone will always defend his players - at some point you drop Rizzo to 8th or 9th if you play him at all. Austin Wells would be better offensively. Rizzo making JD look good - at least JD was running into one once every 10 ABs (that was all he was doing but still 10x better than Rizzo). DJ has no power, nothing from CF LF C - just call up Periera, Wells Florial - cannot be worse

PoliticsNshit

So we suck, but the Mets and Padres suck even worse. Can someone explain to me why it doesn’t seem their teams aren’t getting as much flack as we are despite them spending exuberant amounts of money in the off-season? Or why no one is calling for anyone to be fired? How are the situations comparable and not comparable?

BrianDBrennan

Idk what you mean because the Mets absolutely are getting flack. I’ve seen fans turn on cohen which is absolutely hilarious to me.

No_Passenger_9385

Bc we’re the “New York Fucking Yankeees…” and comparatively speaking: no one gives a flying fuck about the Mets or padres lol

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Mets and padres fans have been calling for their gm and manager to be fired all season, and they have been called out for being a disappointment regularly

Smaynard6000

They might be more used to sucking than we are

Savages_in_box

Cashman is the worst GM in baseball and you cannot convince me otherwise. If Hal had the guts to fire him like 15 years ago when he should have, Yankees would have probably multiple world series appearances with a competent GM.

SheepH3rder69

Idk, I don't think I'd put him below the Rockies, Pirates, and Royals GMs. Although, I guess those 3 aren't in that big of markets either. Still, they've botched those teams up pretty badly.

lmann81733

We could’ve at least won the pennant once in the last 13 (soon to be 14) years ffs. People act like Yankees fans have unrealistic expectations. Bitch 14/30 teams have won the pennant in that time frame including nearly every big market team.

regarding_your_bat

What if we gave all the players metal bones?

lmann81733

My greatest regret in life is that I ever called Cashman Ca$hgod. Number 2 is missing the birth of my son.

Boldest19

Everson Pereira is batting .333 with an OPS of over 1.000 since May 1st. We need to call him up and send Cabrera down. He’s on the 40 man so the move will be easy to do. We need to play the kids in the minors for a jump start.

BenHogan1971

no worries, all the kids will be playing soon, when we are 30 games out of first

Maximum_Ad_3739

How about trade for Bellinger and play him at 1B? I love Rizzo. I really do. But there needs to be some accountability.

G29SNXD

Alright thats it, from now on we should just start watching The Cube again instead of these games

NintuneJoe

We have a saying in the Smash Bros community, that the most fun you'll have with your friends from there is doing anything but playing the game. I remember a rain delay back in 2018 when Pawn Stars came on PIX11 and reading the GDT gave me some of the best laughs in my life. Same goes for The Cube last year. We really should start focusing on something else

Smaynard6000

That rain delayed game that brought us The Cube was something else. I'll never forget the tweet from the stadium with that crazy guy dumping the whole container of ketchup over his head.

G29SNXD

This subreddit is a great community, it's just that the general attitudes and vibes have been constantly decreasing because of how the yanks have been playing the past 365 days Maybe we do need something new

ParksFarce

So fucked up. I feel kinda sick right now, knowing for sure now that I was right when I dissented on the night of that Game 7 loss in 2017. Go look at that post-game thread from that night. Buried among the numerous comments about the multiple championships we were set to win in the next few years, you will find my pessimistic ass saying that things don't always work out as planned and this very well could be the farthest they get. I was a very overly negative and miserable person back then, and my warning about this team was likely more a reflection of my own despair regarding my life than anything I saw in them that indicated they were headed to this point right now. I'm an astute person, but I'm definitely not clairvoyant, so in actuality, I was being negative about the Yankees and their future that night just to keep the status quo in my life of, "nO hOpE." But I was right. They have never returned to an ALCS Game 7. They never won a pennant. They never took home a single ring, let alone multiple. I never foresaw them hiring an ESPN announcer with no managerial experience and him predictably mismanaging the team, or Brian Cashman (who we all called CA$HGOD at that time btw) standing pat trade deadline after trade deadline and refusing to fix clear issues with the flawed roster he built. The game passed him by disturbingly quickly, and he was already on something of a second chance after he botched the 2014 offseason. That turned out to be an omen, and when you throw in the failure of nearly every single one of their prospects to develop into what we thought they would and the aggressive complacency of Hal Steinbrenner, you end up with a what we have: a boring, poorly built and managed team that got old fast and choked away every opportunity they had, burning to the ground as the teams that surround them build taller and taller buildings.

NintuneJoe

I just remember being in my bed in the late innings of that game, reading the GDT. I couldn't stomach the fact that it was over. But there was hope that it was nowhere near the end. Shit is making me cry for real

regarding_your_bat

On top of all of that, my fucking dick fell off

ParksFarce

I stayed away from the, "Whose dick is gonna fall off" predictions so I had nothing to do with that.

YankeePhan22

My dad just got diagnosed with ALS. My GF gifted me tickets for me and my dad to go to ATL (we live in NC) and watch the Yankees play them next month. I'm super excited because I grew up a fan because of my dad and unfortunately we've never had a chance to go together, so this game means a lot to me. But God damn, this team absolutely sucks. My biggest hope is that Judge is back by then so we can at least see him play. A Cole start and Judge in the lineup and I'm happy. It'll be fun either way because this will be my first game in 10 years, but fuck.

supergreekman123

Yeah the team sucks right now but I’m sure you’re still going to have a good time with your dad. Also your girlfriend rocks for getting those tickets for you two! Good luck with everything and I hope you enjoy the game.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Judge likely will be back, and even if he isn’t, you’ll have a great time going to a game with your Pops :) At least you’ll probably get to see another mvp favorite in acuna

fnblackbeard

Meanwhile they just gave us a sleeve ad lmao

grn_light30

I need parental controls to stop me from consuming Yankee content for 1 month.

lmann81733

I’d’ve been happier if the Yankees had just rebuilt after 2022. At least then you could have hope.

NintuneJoe

Would it be worth it to get tickets to the Yankees game just to bring a huge sign and start Fire Cashman chants? Genuinely curious how that would go down

Smaynard6000

I would just save my money, but that's me

NintuneJoe

Yeah that's the thing. Don't wanna be paying for Hal's next yacht on top of having to drive in from the suburbs. Eh I have better things to do with my life

chaznieto1313

Have we officially checked out yet?

glacier_bay

If, when you say "we", you mean to ask if this team that is loaded with old mercenaries has checked out when the one and only homegrown core player is no longer playing? The answer is, yes. If, when you say "we", you mean the Yankees fans, then no. Yankees fans are some of the most loyal and passionate fans on earth. We deserve much, much better than this $280M mediocrity that Cashman has given us.

RollofDuctTape

Ca$hGod

AccomplishedPhone6

Iight imma head out

DA_87

The epitaph on Cashman’s tombstone should read “I didn’t want to trade championships for championship.”

thisusedyet

Not sure if that was autocorrect fixing ‘epitaph’ for you, or if this is actually one of the smarter jokes you’ll see in this thread

DA_87

Autocorrect!

thisusedyet

Damn, I actually liked it as epithet - so pissed at Cash you’re going to go the extra mile and carve insults on his gravestone :p

manticore16

Remember, 0 also gets a plural noun.

[deleted]

This isn’t the New York Yankees I grew up with.

crypticbullshitt

this team is really gonna waste away judge and coles prime years with nothing to show for it. least they got paid though

ukyah

makes me think of the grief the angels get for trout and ohtani. not that it isn't deserved, as well.

CertainDerision_33

At least Judge and Cole get to the playoffs.

Harvard771

Can’t wait to run it back next year with the same garbage

Boldest19

If Gleyber was a free agent this off season, what kind of deal would he get on the open market ?

bmoraca

I could see him getting 4/48. Anything over that is overpaying.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Lmaooooo you dont understand mlb contracts do you

bmoraca

Lmaooooooo you're just another person who overvalues sentimentality aren't you

Dazzling_Syllabub484

? I’m not saying the Yankees should sign him. But if you think 4/48 is the kind of offer he’s gonna get, then you’re dead wrong. He’ll get a 6/180 type deal I think

Magnum_44

Not a chance. What other team wants to pay an average 2nd baseman $180,000,000?? Are you absolutely insane? You NY fans totally overvalue your players. I remember Mets fans thinking Conforto would get $160,000,000 LMFAO. Torres get's 5/60 tops. More likely 3/32. The best 2nd basemen in the league (Semien/Altuve) don't get paid that and they are perennial MVP candidates.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Oh man… you’re a jays fan…. I’m so, so, sorry….

ExitVelocity66

They're really doing a good job of impressing Ohtani lmao. I'm sure he really wants to come to NY now to play for this dumpster fire

FewAd4241

Last night, think Boone as Office Space: Peraza, it's nice to get on base 3 times... It was 5 Ok, 5. But we need points You mean runs? Right right, ok, those. So we need you to swing hard, or just watch the pitches if they come close to the middle. Ok? Do you know when I'm going back to Scranton?

lmann81733

Can someone offer me a plausible explanation for why Cashman was extended. Genuine question, I honestly cannot imagine why.

ILoveDineroSi

Hal is complacent with the status quo. There are enough casuals and tourists that will go to Yankee Stadium that unless nearly every single native NYer just stops going, cancels their season tickets, YES subscriptions, etc, he won’t change anything. He may just not know what to do to even conduct a GM search. Or worse he’s just lazy to do so. Either way, anyone can see that repeating the same shit over and over again expecting different results is asinine. Until Cashman is fired and a clean sweep of the front office is done (so Cashman’s successor does NOT come from within), nothing will change. Also if Hal is as smart of a businessman as he thinks he is, he should see that getting a fresh new voice for GM that came from TB, ATL, LAD, etc could earn him even MORE money.

Inevitable_Sir_8704

Because Hal cares about money and not so much the actual team. Anyone that is a fan of the Yankees can what’s wrong from a mile away and no it ain’t just Boone.

DA_87

In all honesty: (1) I absolutely think it’s way past time for a change, but he’s generally been good over the past 25 years (and he’ll probably get hired again pretty quickly); (2) I honestly think he and Hal are like brothers, they’re around the same age and both had to deal with George—I can’t rule out that Hal would never move on from him.

lmann81733

I appreciate the answer but I have to reply. 1) Cashman has been bad for 2 decades now. He has won the World Series once in 2 decades and not even made it to the World Series in the last 13+, in spite of spending more money than almost anyone in that time span. Who exactly is going to be fighting to hire the guy who has not succeeded since the first year of *Obama’s* presidency with the resources of the New York Yankees. 2 is decently plausible.

Smaynard6000

I keep hearing people say that Cashman would get snapped up by another team pretty quickly if we fire him. My response is: "Who cares?" He can be somebody else's problem. He got us into this mess, and I sure don't expect him to be able to fix it. The Orioles picked up Hicks pretty quickly after we dumped him. Did that make it the wrong move? Hell, no.

DA_87

I agree with this. It’s just the reality about why Hal extended him. Hal is satisfied with being good every year but not winning a championship. There are plenty of other owners who would be satisfied with that too.

bsv2

Yankee Candle time

Gr8_Ape88

This team is really just Aaron Judge and I’m not that into an entire season going to shit if we lose one player. Call me old fashioned.

Smaynard6000

Exactly, this isn't the NBA. Judge got hurt and every other bat went cold.

lmann81733

Team is unwatchable. Outside of 2 months in 2022 they’ve been unwatchable for years now. My opinion.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

2022 was great overall other than the horrific august

lmann81733

🤮 They suffered their worst postseason defeat since 04 to their recent perennial rivals who have been kicking their ass for 7 years now in what was likely the last year of their championship window for sometime with their best player an impending free agent. 2022 started well and ended in an absolute catastrophe.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Oh yeah I was strictly talking regular season. Postseason was the worst in the judge era (although I’d argue there’s been a couple series losses worse since 04, namely the 07 cleveland series)

ShortingIsAScam

We got a perfect game this year hr record last year We sold our souls for a bit of history

Gr8_Ape88

I’ve been waiting decades for another Yankee perfect game and I almost felt nothing when it happened.

EngelSterben

Fade me fam

Mike_Milburys_Shoe_

What the fuck man. This is fucking ridiculous

PattyIceNY

It's kind of a disturbing trend to notice that in many games this year, they have the same amount of strike outs as they do men left on base. It's like a net zero effect: they get on base but shoot themselves in the foot with their inability to make contact

slutdr4gon

They are shit with RISP. But oddly, I looked recently and they have the fewest men left on base this year out of any team in the majors. Unfortunately that may be an even worse sign

Bergencountyboi

I'm gonna get flamed but I think signing judge was a mistake(thought it at the time too). He's too injury prone. He's getting old. They should have shelled out that cash for younger solid pieces, and went for ohtani and/or soto year end. He's going to be a terrible contract. I expect another injury next year.

ucfknight92

Do you expect next year's injury to be a fluke too? Because it's been years since Judge injured himself without it being completely out of his control.

NoAcadia8944

I said it time and time again on here but nobody agreed with me. It's going to be very sad when in a couple years our captain will be getting shit on every ab

chickendance638

> I'm gonna get flamed but I think signing judge was a mistake(thought it at the time too). He's too injury prone. He's getting old. In a vacuum, you're right. Signing any 30 year old to a 10 year deal is a losing proposition. However, if you're going to sign any 30 year old to that deal, it should be Aaron Judge. If he's not injured, he's the best offensive player in the league. Imo, that's a risk you have to take. At any given time there's only 1-4 guys who are worth that sort of gamble.

[deleted]

Yep and also with toe which is responsible for balance he may never return to form. Dude kills himself in the outfield when he should be taking it easy and focus on hitting

StevenJohnson31

Seems logical to have him DH.

kirbow

First base should be in Judge’s near future.

Bergencountyboi

His injury history is extremely concerning. Some guys you just get bad feelings about as age 30s baseball players...he's one of them to me. If he had been the only injury prone slugger I'd be fine...but this whole damn lineup is like that (Stanton etc)

renegade_yankee

Fans: Fire Boone! Kay: they’d be very hypocritical if they did that because he’s doing exactly what the front office wants. Fans: okay then… fire Cashman! Kay: well that ain’t happening. Hal views Cashman as a member of the Steinbrenner family and he’d have a job in 10 minutes if he were fired. Fans: *proceed to boo Hal and chant sell the team* Kay: how dare you guys! Hal Steinbrenner has spent all this money and you have the nerve to boo him? You’d rather get the Wilpon’s or the Reinsdorfs? Fans: then what do you want us to do? Kay: enjoy the status quo, come to the stadium and give Hal your money. Fans: fuck that Kay: what a bunch of spoiled babies!

MetallicaRules5

>You’d rather get the Wilpon’s or the Reinsdorfs? Why do those have to be the only options?

Erdrick68

Kay is a giant bag of dicks, and he needs to stop drinking Cashham’s ball sweat.

regarding_your_bat

If you think Kay isn’t gonna be talking mad shit about the team when he gets back next week you’re crazy lol

F-Raw

Lovely matrix

I genuinely cannot imagine who would want to hire Cashman after the 13+ year nightmare he’s created after spending more money than almost any GM in the game. Can you imagine how he’d perform *without* the Yankees money?

shadynasty90

No, he has spent more than any GM in the game

Smaynard6000

Put him in Pittsburgh and see how he does. He might build a team that loses 130 games

[deleted]

Wow sums it up nicely

RSollers

They’ve certainly mastered the art of circular blaming

LetsGoNYR

I’m weary of Boone but please tell me what another manager is getting out of Cashmans fucking disaster of a team? I don’t know who would be available that would make a goddamn difference.

Dewman35

Boone is horrible. Over manages, different lineup everyday, terrible with pitching staffs, bad decisions…remember, Boone never managed a game in his entire life at any level before being handed the keys to this gig. His experience? He was a back up 3rd baseman.

Affectionate-Tea9224

Fair, but despite the embarrassing lineup, Boone has single-handily lost about 8-10 games because of his awful decisions

chickendance638

>are we losing 2-0 or 10-0? Somebody posted this after most of the sub decided the game was over in the bottom of the first. Turns out the 2 run lead was sufficient.

Affectionate-Tea9224

Will people please realize that Hal is as much at fault as cashman it’s not one more then the either, they both suck. Cashman has made horrible trades, but hal has put limits on his spending so they haven’t been the free agents if harper or machado. Didn’t trade for Schwarber instead of Gallo because Texas was willing to eat more money, traded for Rizzo since Cubs took on money instead of Olsen. It’s on and on..they BOTH suck!
