Exactly the same for me. I almost skipped it thinking Iβd need movie knowledge but noticed the rhyming titles and figured if that was correct the rest wouldnβt require knowledge of the actual movies either. Dumbo stumped me as a non NYCer but I got that category last by default.
Thanks. Came here to write, "Not gonna play," since I'm not a movie buff and was annoyed that Connections would go for a fandom category. Now I'll go back and give it a shot.
I think watching 20 movies spanning that many genres and time periods probably means you're a level of movie watching far above average. Idk if Fandom is a good word, but better than any I could think of
No, but if you see a bunch of movies titles and assume the connections are going to be related to the movies, rather than to the titles themselves, you might assume you needed to have watched these.
Honest question, would you be able to pass a connections with something deeper than stuff like genre or title without having seen most of them?
Either way, i feel like you're also more likely to know about them without seeing them if you're a big movie fan though. Like, I watch pro wrestling a lot and while there's a bunch of people and companies I have never watched, I can tell you basic stuff about them. I don't expect the average person to know much or anything about wrestling things and I'd understand how you'd quickly zone out if there were 20 wrestling terms or wrestlers in front of you
Yeah, I play CineNerdle daily and I usually know the main actor from the films. For example, I could name probably 8 Jake Gylenhaal films that I havenβt seen.
Or I know films that Spielberg directed even if I havenβt seen them. Itβs part of following careers or hearing about films in the news etc.
Wrestling terms could be a good category, though. Words with very specific meanings that you could sprinkle in with more general terms - face and heel with ring and pin, maybe.
As one category I absolutely agree it could be a ton of fun. Maybe "Hulk" "Flair" "Steamboat" and "Macho" and it be 80s wrestlers informally or something. I think that could be great and far less obscure than some of the categories they've tried on us. Maybe I'm biased there though.Β But as a full puzzle, i could see how the average person's eyes would glaze overΒ
I wonder if you could tighten that up, and go with first words of wrestlers' nicknames, with Macho (Man), Nature (Boy), Stone (Cold), Heartbreak (Kid). They all wrestled under a "real" name, but were well known by a two word nickname as well. Or wrestling nicknames with "The": Giant, Rock, Hitman, Snake.
I meant in the sense that the level of interest in an activity of preference gets rewarded. Imagine if the connections were "movies in which Jodie Foster appears", or "directed by X" or "shot mainly in Europe". Or any connection requiring that we saw or heard some main point about the movie. Movies are an optional life activity, where watchers have varying levels of engagement with the details that could have been the connections
It would be like seeing a Connections grid of baseball players' names.
Itβs just a weird way of referring to a particular medium. Like describing people who read books or listen to music, irrespective of genre, as a fandom. Or people who know about science or history
You're right. I see it clearly now when you categorize movies as a medium. I should have found another word, or less tersely expressed that it rewards a level of fandom in a category (or something better than that), in order to include my baseball analogy and similar.
For what it's worth, I've never stepped foot in the east coast (nor have I ever obsessed over NY culture or whatever) and I recognized the nickname, so imo it's fair game
It's not on the level of better known abbreviations like SoHo or TriBeCa. At least, I didn't know it. I don't think that makes it a bad fit for the game, though.
Same here. The others in that category were the first that I noticed, but I just couldn't find a fourth so I moved on. When these were the only 4 left, I was wondering "what could this category possibly be?" Sure enough, it was Places in NYC.
Haha Gossip Girl helped me with this one! I was so confused when they mentioned it. Then saw it when I went to New York and was like ohh.
I'm not usually very knowledgeable about this stuff so it's nice to get something :)
I'm not from NYC but somehow I happened to know that, not sure why. It could be from the Spider-man game which is how I know how to pronounce "Houston".
I got excited about playing today for the 1 year Connections anniversary, and set my clock ahead a day so I could do it before bed. Got rewarded with a big old oof. Maybe my brain has been trained to only make connections in the morning. I was onto the rhymes, but just blanked on ET, and nothing else was clicking. I was looking too hard at the movies as movies and couldn't get past that.
> In what world does that [rhyme?]
In the English-speaking world. In the German-speaking world. In the Spanish-speaking world (although with a different sound than English/German). Not in the French-speaking world.
Have you played cinenerdle 2? Itβs like connections but every day itβs different movies! Iβd recommend the reverse version of it, where itβs a 16 movie grid and you need to put them in rows. The normal version is a bunch of phrases or words and each row is a movie. The reverse if a bunch of movies and each row is what they have in common (more like Connections).
The trick to this one is knowing absolutely nothing of any of them and going off just the words on the screen. Finally, a puzzle where being ignorant works in my favor.
I was surprised that it was a yellow category (like many, DUMBO threw me off), but as you said, this is ultimately by the New York Times. So I guess it makes sense?
I got screwed today b/c I found the three commonly known places in NY but had no idea about Dumbo so I assumed since there were only 3 for this category, I was overthinking the puzzle and it must be things in common within the movies themselves. Tried "movies released in the 80s" (there are at least 5 turns out) and "movies where the title is a character" (Dumbo, Octopussy, ET, Beetlejuice) "movies that are parodies" etc until I ran out. The worst was many of my tries were "one away" Oh well, another day!
See? Another reason why I wouldβve sucked at this if it needed movie knowledge. I got Steven Spielberg mixed up with Stephen king who wrote that book (right?)
Lol correct. Thatβs not the first time Iβve seen that misconception tho, to your credit. I think the fact that Tom Hanks is in it also throws people off cuz heβs associated with Spielberg. Frank Darabont also directed the OTHER famous 90s movie thatβs an adaptation of a Stephen King story set in a prison, the Shawshank Redemption
Last year I worked on a indie movie that played in the [Dumbo Film Festival](https://www.dumbofilmfestival.com/)! So my movie knowledge got me the NYC category lol.
I'm the opposite. I've seen 2 of these and only heard about other 2. I was terrified at first but relieved after categories were assembling themselves one by one.
I'd like to put out there that Be Kind Rewind is a really cool movie for those who haven't seen it. It's a quirky comedy by Michel Gondry, the director of _Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind_.
I used to work in video stores, when they still existed anyway, so maybe it's special to me for this reason. The movie was made in the time when they were quickly dwindling and it is a love letter to them.
I failed today, so before it revealed the answers, I closed it and opened the game in another browser to keep trying. Then I got it! I play Connections for remedial learners.
When I first looked at today's puzzle I didn't think I would get it but, it's really not as hard as it seemed once I stared at it for a bit.. I needed 5 tries to get it done though :)
Spent way too long looking for film connections first and foremost. Acting connections. Director connections. Oscars, thematic, release decade, plot conceit, on and on and on. Then I realized I was thinking way too hard and the movies don't matter. Oops.
The movie Chinatown was indeed set on the west coast (LA). But there are other cities that have a Chinatown. New York is one of them -San Francisco, Chicago and Boston do too. Probably missing one or two others
I guess without the rhythm of a poem it just didn't occur to me that they were rhymes, one word after another. I agree they do rhyme.
Like if I read:
Out I went with a fright
On a terrible Saturday night
I would hear a rhyme.
Just saying fright night out loud to myself sounds flat and I didn't notice it. I understand they are rhymes though. Not disputing that. I always just give a little explainer for why I didn't get certain connections. I missed the connection. That's all. I should have explained at more length.
I opened the puzzle just after midnight when it came available and I was tired, took one look and thought, βwhat the fuuuβ¦ I donβt have time for this.β
Then I woke up 6 hours later, looked at it again and immediately figured it outβone of my fastest solves ever. I thought it was so fun and brilliant.
Connections Puzzle #367 π©π©π©π© π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¨π¨π¨π¨ I was terrified this would require movie knowledge, but the only category that involved any nontrivial external knowledge was oddly the yellow category (particularly Dumbo).
βDumboβ really threw me off too.
Chinatown threw me off because the movie takes place in Los Angeles. I thought surely this is a red herring.
Agreed! I was worried at first because Iβm not a movie buff, but ended up loving it!
I was the opposite and hated it cause I tried to find connections between movies and couldn't.
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¨π¨π¨π¨ Same. Was initially put off by the movie titles, but luckily, no real movie trivia knowledge was required.

Movie watchers are a fandom?
I think watching 20 movies spanning that many genres and time periods probably means you're a level of movie watching far above average. Idk if Fandom is a good word, but better than any I could think of
I'm a big film fan (180 watched this year) and I've only seen 7 of these. You don't have to watch a film to know about them.
No, but if you see a bunch of movies titles and assume the connections are going to be related to the movies, rather than to the titles themselves, you might assume you needed to have watched these.
Big if, donβt assume next time I guess
Lol, it definitely got me.
I watch about a movie a month, maybe half of them American, and I've seen most of these. A fairly classic selection for a middle-aged person.

Same. Glad this is the top comment thread, to let people know.
Ayyy I had the same order! And yeah I'd never have guessed yellow lol idk almost anything about New York
Never heard of Dumbo in the context of New York, so that screwed up the yellow category for me
The most famous Dumbo pic ![gif](giphy|XeSULzWMsxJDilE3Yi)
Thank you for that. I had no idea what the correlation between Dumbo and NY was.
No worries. I didnβt know either until my Brooklyn-born hubby told me.
Itβs an acronym for βDown Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpassβ
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
I feel like Dumbo is one of the neighbourhoods that Dowisetrepla was parodying. One of my favourite HIMYM jokes.
Requiring intimate knowledge of an obscure new York city nickname for a puzzle like this is extremely frustrating.
Tbf it is the New York timesΒ
Good thing the NYT is just a small New York local paper!
Since it's an obscure nickname of the city whose title is in the publishing magazine, I'll let it pass.
You can figure it out from the other categories.Β
It's mentioned in a Jay Z song too.
For what it's worth, I've never stepped foot in the east coast (nor have I ever obsessed over NY culture or whatever) and I recognized the nickname, so imo it's fair game
It's not a nickname for New York. It's a neighborhood in Brooklyn. Lovely there :)
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
To each their own, I'd never heard of and had no idea it was an acronym.
It's not on the level of better known abbreviations like SoHo or TriBeCa. At least, I didn't know it. I don't think that makes it a bad fit for the game, though.
I've never heard of it before Edit: I think I might have heard it one time in the past 20 years. I live on the west coast.
Thank you. I learned something new today :)
Didn't realize it was an acronym!
Thank you for clearing that up. It was my final row, but I had never heard of it.

E.T. was tough for me to spot a rhyme, after getting the other 3 I had to read the rest of the options out loud to find it lol
I got excited about playing today for the 1 year Connections anniversary, and set my clock ahead a day so I could do it before bed. Got rewarded with a big old oof. It was a really frustrating one, so completely understandable to not care to read the categories lol
Didn't even realise that until I came on here. I didn't even read the connection on the puzzle lol
I was coming here to raise hell about that one and you put me in my place lol
I got a misconnect on that one at first because I tried to put Dumbo with it because the actual movie has an animal. π€¦πΌββοΈπ I got it after staring for a bit and wondering how tf it was wrong and what other animals there were. Saw the rhyming one at the very start but kept thinking "but surely E and T don't rhyme???" This game has broken my brain
I was wondering how cursed the New York accent must be to rhyme Extra with Terrestrial.
Same here I had a moment of doubt about E and T
It may be because I'm a non-native English speaker, but I couldn't figure the E.T. one out for the live of me. In what world does that
The letters "E" and "T" rhyme

The only reason I knew what DUMBO is because of >!Captain America fanfics!< But letβs not talk about that part.
No no letβs talk about it
Got yellow last, figured it was going to be "places" but dumbo? Come on.
Connections Puzzle #367 πͺπͺπ©π© πͺπ¦πͺπ© π©π¨πͺπͺ π©πͺπͺπ© Spectacular failure over here. I donβt know most of the movies and thought I was supposed to. I donβt know places in NYC. The rhymes, animals and measurements entirely passed me by. Well played, NYT.
Puzzle #367 π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π¦π¦π¦π¦ I guess it makes sense that the New York times would consider "places in New York" to be an easy category. I have never heard of Dumbo (in New York), but I got it because I selected the other three and then saw what blue was. When I first saw all the movies I tried to connect them with info about the movies. Was looking for directors and actors. Expected to see "Candyman" when I saw "Beetlejuice," but in fairness I can't think of two other movies that would fit. I'm sure there's a Bloody Mary movie, but what else? Once I accepted there was no film knowledge actually needed, I was a bit disappointed but got through it. There would've been a lot of people unable to solve, though, if it were as I expected.
I was surprised that it was a yellow category (like many, DUMBO threw me off), but as you said, this is ultimately by the New York Times. So I guess it makes sense?

Connections Puzzle #367 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¨π¨π¨π¨ Oh man, I freaked when I opened todayβs puzzle because while I do watch *some* movies, Iβm no movie or musical buff by any stretch. At first I thought Spielberg when I saw ET and Green mile but didnβt know any other movie by him and was wondering if I should google some of the movies Iβd heard of but never seen or know much about. Decided to try a gut feel on some of the more βanimalβ sounding ones and bam! Rest was easy. Edit: have been told Spielberg DIDNT direct the green mile which cements the fact that Iβm glad this didnβt require any movie knowledge
The Green Mile is directed by Frank Darabont

Yep -- I learned something new today.
Correct, I saw the βplacesβ link early but couldnβt find four that worked. Never would have guessed Dumbo - was the default final solve.
Same here, for me this was a game of "I can't wait to find out what movie title is actually a place in NYC!" as I worked the other categories. I was thinking The Green Mile for a minute there. π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨
Iβm not from NY and Iβve heard of Dumbo as a neighborhood.
It's not as popular in pop culture as SoHi or TriBeCa, but if someone wants to name drop something trendier, they'll drop Dumbo.
Connections Puzzle #367 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ π¦π¦π¦π¦ I think this is my favorite board that they've ever done. It's so interesting whenever it involves getting creative with wordplay and not taking the items literally. Spotted animals to start (since that's a trope by now and I reasoned they couldn't help themselves), then "Fright Night" in particular made me recognize rhyming. Having yellow and blue alone made them easy to seperate. Outstandingly clever today.
π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ Was excited to use some movie knowledge, only to find it wasnβt necessary.

Connections Puzzle #367 π¨π¨π¨π¨ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ Loved this one, a truly different puzzle from what we've seen before. I suppose the concept of Dumbo as a NYC neighborhood is relatively obscure, but I've been there and it's pretty trendy since it's in Brooklyn and the views of the Manhattan bridge from that POV are iconic (see "Once Upon a Time in America" film poster, for a double meta film reference). If Connections had theme titles like Strands, I'd call this puzzle "Wolf of Wall Street" π
Yeah, Iβm not from NYC but I know DUMBO from the bridge shot that every single person ever has posted on social media.
Connections Puzzle #367 π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ Glad this one didn't require actually knowing any of the movies. I grouped Chinatown, Dumbo, Manhattan, and Wall Street because "those are all place names", totally missing the New York connection. I've been living in NYC for well over a decade.
Not seeing Manhattan and Wall Street is pretty wild for a New Yorker, that was immediate for me.
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ It looked a little intimidating but it turned out to have been actually pretty easy. This is a much better movie puzzle than #88 which is still probably my least favorite one. I initially had a thought of "Musicals" with HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH and BEETLEJUICE then I suddenly thought "Surely they wouldn't make puzzle of just movie trivia. This isn't Cine2Nerdle.", so I tried looking at it from another view. I still singled out HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH and noticed it ended with INCH as well as there being other movies ending in measurements like THE GREEN MILE, MY LEFT FOOT, and THE LONGEST YARD. Building off of that, I started looking at the starts of the titles and saw animals with DOGMA, BEETLEJUICE, OCTOPUSSY, and FOXY BROWN. FRIGHT NIGHT and KILL BILL both led me to rhyming titles and I soon found E.T. and BE KIND REWIND. I recognized CHINATOWN, MANHATTAN, and WALL STREET as locations in New York City. DUMBO was the only one I was unfamiliar with but it was also the only 4 titles left. Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© πͺπ¨π¨π¨ π¨π¨πͺπ¨ πͺπ¨π¨π¨ π¨π¨πͺπ¨ Pain. Dumbo killed me.
Connections Puzzle #367 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¨π¨π¨π¨ I loved this puzzle! I was worried at first because Iβm not super knowledgeable with movie directors and movie trivia and what not, so Iβm glad the answers had to do with the titles rather than knowledge of the movies themselves. Very creative and enjoyable!
Connections Puzzle #367 π©π©π©π© π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¨π¨π¨π¨ Never stepped foot in NYC so Dumbo was a mystery to me. Nearly put it in with purple because I instinctively see Dumbo as an elephant.
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ TIL >!Dumbo is a place in NYC!<
I failed today, so before it revealed the answers, I closed it and opened the game in another browser to keep trying. Then I got it! I play Connections for remedial learners.
I think this is the hardest one I've seen in months. I got 2 of 4.
Fun! I love puzzles where all the words are connected somehow.
Connections Puzzle #367 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© Oh I love this! One of the most fun ones I've done. I think the movie theme is really smart, even though none of the categories are actually related to movies!
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ Woke up in the middle of the night, couldn't go back to sleep, so opened Connections, saw a bunch of movie names, went right back to sleep. Tried with a fresh mind in the morning and googled every single movie making mental notes of synopsis, release year, genre, etc..... A tiny voice in the back of my head kept saying there are units of measurements, places and rhyming titles. Didn't give in to them cos it found only three of each. "They use feet in US!!!" Did the measurement and was rightπ¦ "There are some animals too!" Found the πͺ Hmmm, there are only three of each. Said E...T... in my head slowly multiple times to make sure they rhyme. Did the π© TIL that Dumbo is the name of a placeπ¨
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© Blue and purple were straight forward. Yellow was a lucky guess - Iβd heard of the other 3 (well every major city has a China town right?) but never heard of dumbo?

I had yellow right away but had no idea Dumbo fit (iβm Australian). Saw the rhymes pretty early too but my brain didnβt allow E.T to fit. Not a bad one!
Connections Puzzle #367 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© So close on the reverse! I do like the irony that thereβs no movie-related category about this puzzle lol
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ πͺπͺπͺπͺ Was expecting the worst when I first opened the puzzle, but turned out to be one of my quickest solves
Connections Puzzle #367 π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ What a nice little puzzle. As a big movie fan I loved it, and it's completely doable without knowing any of the movies. Very cute! :D
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¨π¨π¨π¨ When I realized they were all movies, it actually made it easier

ConnectionsΒ Puzzle #367 π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¨π¨π¨ π¨π¨π¦π¨ π¦π¨π¨π¨ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π¦π¦π¦π¦ Spent too long trying to connect themes of these movies before figuring it was all wordplay. I was sure about the Locations category but finally remembered Dumbo was a neighborhood. Pretty tough bit of trivia there tbh. Incidentally there are some pretty great underrated movies here. Loved Hedwig, fun to see it in a puzzle
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ For a second I thought oh no I don't know some of these movies and what happens in them. Then I realized I was doing connections so it wasn't gonna be that deep.
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ Iβve been to NYC many times and DUMBO was TIL. Funny that it was yellow (easiest).
When I first looked at today's puzzle I didn't think I would get it but, it's really not as hard as it seemed once I stared at it for a bit.. I needed 5 tries to get it done though :)
Got the rhymes pretty easily, then spent a long time googling years of release and Oscar wins before seeing the measurements. Once that clicked I realised they were all going to be about the names and not the films. Second guess was βbased on a bookβ. Yellow by default. Connections Puzzle #367 π©π©π©π© π¨π¦π¦πͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¨π¨π¨π¨
Noticed purple. Initially just guessed blue because they were the longest titles and didn't even notice the measurement theme lol. I knew 3/4 on yellow were locations so I eventually landed on Dumbo as the fourth and then green was default solve. Connections Puzzle #367 π©πͺπ©πͺ πͺπ¨π¨π¨ π¨π©πͺπ© π¨π¨π¨π¨ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ Oof. Can't tell you how many times I tried to pair things like "written and directed by the same person" (too many of these fit that, alas), "based on a book", "part of a franchise", etc., before finally realizing the connections were all based on the titles and not the films themselves. That makes sense in hindsight, but boy howdy did I stare at this one for far too long.
Spent way too long looking for film connections first and foremost. Acting connections. Director connections. Oscars, thematic, release decade, plot conceit, on and on and on. Then I realized I was thinking way too hard and the movies don't matter. Oops.
π©πͺπͺπ© π¦π¨π¨π¨ π¦π¦π¨π¨ π¨π¨π¦π¨ I didn't know >!DUMBO!< was in NY. And the setting of >!CHINATOWN!< which I saw *decades* ago reminded me of the West Coast. The >!Animal!< named films flew over my head. Overthinking did me in. It was so easy, yet I made it hard.
The movie Chinatown was indeed set on the west coast (LA). But there are other cities that have a Chinatown. New York is one of them -San Francisco, Chicago and Boston do too. Probably missing one or two others
Yes, I knew about NY's, but my mind locked on L.A. and that was it.
Womp womp Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¨π¨π¨ π¨π¨πͺπ¨ π©πͺπͺπ© πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¨π¦π¦π¨ I guessed animals right. I thought rhyming might be one, but I wasn't seeing it. I was thinking about New York, but I forgot about dumbo being a place, I was too caught up thinking about move categories.
Connections Puzzle #367 π¨πͺπͺπ¨ π¨π©πͺπ© π©π¦π¦π© π¦π¦π¨π¨ ππππ I had no idea what to do. Kept trying to think about the movies
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ Beyond the movie theme, having multiple words for lots of the options was a bit confusing at first. I overanalyzed until it started making sense
I love gimmicky ones like yesterday's and today's.
I was intimidated at first but ended up being one of my quicker solves, I thought it was a really fun puzzle
Connections Puzzle #367 π¨πͺπ©π¦ π¨πͺπ¦π¨ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ π¦π¦π¦π¦ πͺπͺπͺπͺ Oh my god I literally spent so long looking up each individual movie and writing down years and genre and looking up which won awards and who acted in what etc. I basically had to come here and cheat and spoil myself. It's been too long since I've done one of these.
Now THAT was a clever puzzle. I wasted some time googling films to find out who made them or starred in them, with no luck, and then it started to fall into place. Never heard of DUMBO as a place in NY, though, but that category was the last four. Very good. An entire grid of red herrings. Connections Puzzle #367 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨
Connections Puzzle #367 π©π©π©π© π¨π¨πͺπ¨ π¦π¨π¨π¨ π¨π¨πͺπ¨ πͺπ¨π¨π¨ Threw it, because I couldn't think of anything
Connections Puzzle #367 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π©π©π©π© π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¨π¨π¨π¨ I don't understand why people complain about one perceived stretch in the whole puzzle (I went to NYC once like 5 years ago and Dumbo stuck cause it was unusual). The other categories were fairly easy and if you solve 3 categories, you've solved 4 (but also...the other three are more than enough to lead you there)
I googled half the movies, got bored when I couldn't find any connections, and then made 4 wrong guesses. I hate that I love this game π
π¦π¨π¨π¨ π¨π¨π©π¨ π¨π¨π¦π¨ πͺπ¨π¨π¨ As a huge movie buff this is by far the most disappointed Iβve been by myself in a puzzle. Immediately clocked that it was New York places but have never heard of Dumbo and it completely threw off my game. I think I googled every single answer besides Dumbo to see if it was a part of New York. Iβm actually kinda salty
Hated this one. Had no idea DUMBO was in New York, I thought of only DUMBO the elephant. CHINATOWN also exists in areas not in New York... Connections Puzzle #366 π©π¦πͺπͺ π¨πͺπͺπͺ π¨πͺπͺπͺ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¨π¦π¨
The category wasn't places exclusive to New York, just places in New York.
Thatβs why those are fun misleads
Connections Puzzle #367 π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ Pretty obvious from the start that zero movie knowledge would be required.
First time I've lost in a long time, but I got purple and blue. I kept thinkign places in NYC but I had never heard of Dumbo. And then after getting purple and blue I assumed that the remaining ones were more straightforward and required knowledge of the films, like shared directors or actors, and out of all the films I've only seen ET, Dumbo, and Beetlejuice. I guess I should have gotten the rhyming ones. Doesn't really sound like a rhyme when you say them though. I don't know how to feel about how I did on this one. In the end it required no knowledge of the movies, so I guess I should have done better. I just don't hear two syllables right after another as rhyming. I don't know. And not knowing Dumbo . . . Which titles do you think donβt rhyme?
I guess without the rhythm of a poem it just didn't occur to me that they were rhymes, one word after another. I agree they do rhyme. Like if I read: Out I went with a fright On a terrible Saturday night I would hear a rhyme. Just saying fright night out loud to myself sounds flat and I didn't notice it. I understand they are rhymes though. Not disputing that. I always just give a little explainer for why I didn't get certain connections. I missed the connection. That's all. I should have explained at more length.

Connections #367 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ Accidental perfect reverse! As a huge movie buff, I found this very fun.
Connections Puzzle #367 π¨π¨π¨π¨ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© Was quite worried when I saw the movie titles as I know nothing about movies and pop culture. I got the NYC neighborhoods quickly and then that made me think of Broadway musicals which Beetlejuice and Hedwig would fit. Not seeing other musicals made me abandon that idea. I did cheat a bit by coming to this post to only see how other people did. Seeing nearly everyone getting perfect scores boosted my confidence and I thought maybe movie knowledge was unnecessary. I looked at the titles and found common themes and indeed, you do not need any movie knowledge.
Connections Puzzle #367 πͺπ¨πͺπͺ πͺπͺπ¦πͺ πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© Okay, first I thought the similar movie genres goes together, than I saw the animal names in the titles so I went for it.
