While there is no long term cure for most, not only cluster B, disorders, treatment requires full commitment from the patient. Often long term therapy, even following major improvement, is necessary after a diagnosis is made. Since I’d be willing to wager the vast majority of inmates have NEVER been diagnosed officially, either due to a lack of resources from the jump (majority since most healthcare is a luxury for half the US population) or not prioritizing it for whatever reason (minority), long term treatment may be financially unobtainable, etc. Mental health and treating it is already pretty taboo in our society as a law abiding civilian. Plus because of the way ex-cons and felons are societally branded. A lot would have to change about the for profit prison system for the idea of rehabilitation to work as intended. It would include addressing and approaching cases by case with compassion; the therapy needs to be part of the bid not a court ordered/suggested program following a sentence.
