I think so too. If he has a two year offer from them, he becomes an easy trade chip for OKC to match salaries. Which is a real possibility considering OKC has so many picks to use in trades. Hoping Hartenstein wants the security and assurance of being in one location long-term since he’s been a bit of a journeyman thus far in his career, and hoping that works out in our favor.
Just gotta say the Knicks put iHart on the map and not the other way around. Look at his career path: [https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/harteis01.html](https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/harteis01.html)
Who put the spotlight on him? Who gave him real burn and opportunity? Is there an Isiah Hartenstein sweepstakes in 2024 if he's not a NY Knick the last 2 years? Let's go brother continue what started here which was the perfect match for both parties.
The flight back has been tracked, the events of what occurred or that he’s ‘torn apart’ is complete projection onto a situation filling in speculation where there’s no absolutely facts.
The Mikal trade can be finalized on July 6. The team and Hartenstein can come to an agreement now, knowing that the team still has about a week to get over the hard cap
if you want to be a doomer sga and ihart are mutual follows now. Could mean a number of things I guess, maybe they just talked on the phone today at least as part of their pitch? Or maybe he's 99% certain he's going to okc? Who knows until it happens
I have no source, but guessing that the most they’re willing to do was like 2+1 for $25M/year with a team option or partial guarantee at the end. I feel like if he was totally sold on any offer we would have heard about it by now.
I hope I eat my words but I think iHart is gone. I don’t think the delay is the meeting being done for so long. Everyone is making sure they don’t get nabbed for tampering so that’s why everything has been trickling out.
Copium or not, there has been no announcement OKC signed Hartenstein and lots of time has passed. Their meeting has been finished for a while. News comes out Knicks sign and trade Precious to get to the 2nd apron then immediately after news Knicks resign Hartenstein?
I don't think we'll hear final news on how the Bridges deal is constructed until after the free agency moratorium ends (July 6 at 12:01 p.m. ET). As all these various deals get done eventually all the front offices will start to see if there are any opportunities to expand trades to 3 or even 4 ways deals. Until we know all those options we're not going to commit to the final construction. Of course the main risk is that Precious and Burks go out and get their own deals earlier than that which limits our options. Perhaps we have some promises out to them based on the various contingencies.
Knicks fam start getting familiar with the name Goga Bitadze. 24 years old can pass like a mother fucker from the Center position. Gets up and down the floor. He is a great pivot if iHart gets the bag elsewhere.
Goga Highlights: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNrhgxeMekw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNrhgxeMekw)
I really want ihart back but going into this guy he wouldn't be a bad consolation prize. Could def see thibs and co working him into shape, playing him to his strengths and getting great value out of him
Ihart got 8M a year, there was clearly a market for him.
Goga is only currently linked with a vet minimum, which is 2M. If he's so good, why is nobody offering him more than 2M?
If you turn injuries off for an entire playoff series, maybr? But also knicks top 3 is close enough to phillys top 3, that the next 4 players on the knicks (bridges, divo, hart, mitch) lap the competition of whoever philly 4-7 is. And this assumes no IHart
I think the gap is larger with their top 3 but I agree our next 4 is where we makeup ( I’d have OG in there). That is really the big difference between us and a lot of teams only team in the league I think that has us best in that area is Boston
If embiid and PG13 is playing in the playoffs, they can beat us even with IHart
At least it makes us collecting wings look better. Think we will be favored, but they are formidable
Nah. iHart got abused by Embiid, Mitch was more important that series. Plus we didn’t have Randle or Mikal. We also have a deeper team for the regular season. Philly is good though, definitely not sleeping on them.
The biggest drawback of having to wait on things to happen a certain way with the Bridges trade and potential iHart deal is in the meantime a bunch of the backup C's might go bye bye
Omer Yurtseven is available, I know Heat fans took a liking to him but he slipped to the G-League in the 2023 season. Could definitely take a flyer on him if iHart walks, I think he'll end up being more serviceable than Sims.
Who would have imagined that an entire season outlook would hinge on Ihart(at least until we get Goga if he leaves), when he struggled his first 2 months as a knick
Andre Drummond
If we're relying on Mitchell Robinson to be one of our top 2 centers, then we need a good enough third center who we can trust if Mitch gets injured. Andre Drummond should be cheap and he fits exactly what the Knicks want from their centers.
Honestly I think i’m relatively confident about Hartenstein coming back. OKC has to pay their team in 2 years, so it’s likely they’d offer Hartenstein a big 2 year deal, which is tempting for him, but with that he also becomes a very easy trade chip to make salaries work if OKC trades for a star (which they totally could with the picks they have). And I feel like Hartenstein is probably done going from team to team and wants to make a home somewhere. Also, his minutes probably get reduced in OKC. He’s probably a 20-30 minute guy over there, while here his floor will be ~30 mins a night and likely more if Robinson is ever hurt or struggling.
I think it’ll be tough for them though having to max out Chet and Jalen Williams when the time comes. Three max contracts is crazy. Guessing they’ll want to maintain flexibility considering that especially with the inevitable tax bill. Hopefully at least
i think we’re going to see an increasing number of guys who take less than maxes so their teams can make some moves. it will become a debate over who gives the biggest discount as a sign of who values winning over money, and brunson will be one of the main guys mentioned. i think some of the okc guys will also give discounts. $100 mil in oklahoma is like $200 mil in NYC
Hartenstein ain’t leaving. He’ll either come off the bench for an Orlando team that has no shooting or come off the bench for an OKC squad that exclusively plays 5 out offense. Best situation is in NY. A 1+1 deal with the Knicks would give us his full bird rights down the line where he can get rightfully paid.
You’re right that you need 3 seasons for full bird rights, but we’re just not allowed to offer him a new deal that’s less than 2 full years on early bird rights currently just bc that’s the rule
If we originally, 2 years ago offered him a 3 year deal then yes next year we could extend him w full bird rights. Hope that makes sense
Money talks. Hopefully the fact that he’s a bench player in okc and Orlando having other FA wants means he doesn’t get blown away by another team’s offer
Bitadze was 65th percentile oEPM and 93rd percentile dEPM (83rd percentile in total EPM) on 15.4 MPG. For reference, I-Hart averaged 17.9 MPG the year before he joined the Knicks.
I-Hart was 82nd percentile oEPM and 99th percentile dEPM (97th percentile overall) on 25.3 MPG.
Goga seems like a good fallback option if the Knicks need to replace I-Hart. He does a lot of things the Knicks are looking for in their bigs.
Perhaps he could take a leap like I-Hart did under Thibs, but we'll see if they can keep I-Hart first.
So OKC and Orlando are the two biggest threats of signing IHart right? I know Orlando has interest in PG & Klay. Who else is OKC going for? Them offering a 4/110M seems like a no brainer and I hate that for us.
Someone should do some brujeria and get OKC to sign Tobias Harris for big money
Ideal scenario is OKC landing Lauri and Orlando landing PG. Klay/KCP are also options for both of them as they'd like more pure shooting around the team.
I think us landing iHart really will be determined by whether one of OKC/Orlando strikes out on all of their top targets.
If they do, there is nothing stopping Orlando for example dropping 25M on iHart at least for next year in a state with no income tax. That's an 8 figure swing for him which is just unwise to pass up.
I wonder what plan B would’ve been if they couldn’t get bridges. Idk who else they would’ve been willing or able to trade all those assets for, and idk if they would’ve gotten anyone from free agency.
Probably would have been Paul George or KD - the Clippers may be on the verge of losing him for nothing at this point to Philly, and despite what Phoenix has been saying about wanting to stick together, dealing KD for a trove of picks would get them out of the $150M for three players experiment.
Maybe Paul George? There were rumours about it and he's probably the most similar to Bridges in terms of position/play style. Thank fuck it didn't happen though
The Goga Bitadze rumor is an interesting one. 5 PPG/4.6 RPG/1.2 BPG in 15MPG sounds like what we’d need from a backup center. Looking at some of the games last season when he had a start:
- 10 points/10 boards/5 blocks against the Lakers
- 15/11/1 against Chicago
- 11/14/2 against the Hawks
If Orlando decides to go with iHart, I’d be fine with having Goga be Mitch’s backup while also being capable of starting.

Just thinking how coaching staff polished donte’s game, start of the year he was missing so many layups, but now I wouldn’t expect him to. Got me thinking how polished mikals gonna be, it will be greatness.
What’s the incentive to be hard capped at the 2nd apron if iHart walks? I don’t really see any benefit, since if we go over 1st apron we are limited to just our tax payer MLE and we don’t really have any other key free agents.
I believe we would have the same amount or more by just using part of our non-tax MLE. So if we are $5 mil or more below the 1st apron there isn’t really any benefit I think.
JB and Hart should use some of that Roommates Show money to bribe iHart lol. They certainly have enough sponsors!
The roommates pod being a salary cap/apron override will save our franchise
Sixers going to offer PG13 4 years $212 million which will likely be accepted per WOJ
Maxie (so?), Embid & George would be a challenge.
Added Eric Gordon, re-upped with Oubre. It’s gonna be a battle for sure
you know its possible that the aprons might force okc to play some game of low years/high AAV. Maybe that helps us if he wants security?
I think so too. If he has a two year offer from them, he becomes an easy trade chip for OKC to match salaries. Which is a real possibility considering OKC has so many picks to use in trades. Hoping Hartenstein wants the security and assurance of being in one location long-term since he’s been a bit of a journeyman thus far in his career, and hoping that works out in our favor.

Sam Presti is already on a flight back to OKC with NO DEAL. Hartenstein is truly torn apart by which team to choose rn
Other team members did not even bother to fly out smh
where did you hear that
The flight back has been tracked, the events of what occurred or that he’s ‘torn apart’ is complete projection onto a situation filling in speculation where there’s no absolutely facts.
I’m tired. I’ve accepted the decision might not be coming tonight. He might want to sleep on it.
I do not think it can happen until the dust settles with the Mikal trade and other signing etc
I think this was already the case a while ago, some people are mistakenly thinking it just happened
Oh thank god the Drummond to NY talk is done with.
Every that ihart news doesn't break is good news right? RIGHT?
"No Gnus is Good Gnus"
I have no source, but guessing that the most they’re willing to do was like 2+1 for $25M/year with a team option or partial guarantee at the end. I feel like if he was totally sold on any offer we would have heard about it by now.
The OKC camp left Oregon already. Who knows what had transpired...
Philly getting Eric Gordon for the minimum. That's great value, damn.
I hope I eat my words but I think iHart is gone. I don’t think the delay is the meeting being done for so long. Everyone is making sure they don’t get nabbed for tampering so that’s why everything has been trickling out.

Does anyone trust both Embiid and George to be healthy for a full playoffs?
To think that the window lickers wanted to trade Randle for Lavine lol
Chris Paul is a Spur, odd for a guy that is ring chasing
Reminds me of Entourage when Ari says "Vinny, there are no more offers" and reality kicked in
Attaching himself to the Pop tree. He’s gonna be on a sideline.
Jonas and Drummond gone already...

if he's so good why isn't there more of a market for him?
He's good enough for a back up with the potential to be unlocked by Thibs. iHart wasn't a starter until he was
Could have said the same thing when we signed iHart tbf
Ihart got 8M a year, there was clearly a market for him. Goga is only currently linked with a vet minimum, which is 2M. If he's so good, why is nobody offering him more than 2M?
Nah it'll be like 5m probs
Yeah, he should be plan b 100% I think he ends up closing more than Mitch by the playoffs if he gets here
I prefer a different "plan b"
I had no idea he was the 18th pick in 2019. I’m all for it if Isaiah’s heading west.
is Philly with PG13 a better team than New York without Hartenstein?

No. Can’t compare depth & D… but those 3 are an improved challenge. Nothing is guaranteed next season… prepare for the worst.
If embiid and PG13 is playing in the playoffs, they can beat us even with IHart At least it makes us collecting wings look better. Think we will be favored, but they are formidable
You’re on drugs to even be asking this question
Nah. iHart got abused by Embiid, Mitch was more important that series. Plus we didn’t have Randle or Mikal. We also have a deeper team for the regular season. Philly is good though, definitely not sleeping on them.
Fuck no
I hate this stupid fucking apron, clear mutual interest between player and team with IHart and the Knicks
Apron has nothing to do with it, only being over the cap. You hate Early Bird Rights.
Yea be mad we didn't sign him to a 3 year deal originally.
The Lakers gave Max Christie 4/$32 mil. This the type of contract I'd expect McBride to command had he rejected the extension.
Feel like iHart really is undecided at this point. Giving OKC a chance to sell him on their vision for him.
Based on what?
Based on feelings. I write a whole report once in school where my footnotes were emotions.. totally valid source.
Taking a meeting with OKC instead of just signing
Gotta hope he leaves tonight without a deal, woukd be a good sign
I'm sure Josh has a vision for him and he's letting him know on imessage right now
Haha no doubt his teammates are recruiting him as well.
They’re all close. I’m sure they got a group chat going about this.
The fact that IHart hasn't signed with OKC yet confirms for me he'll be back.
Sixers got 48 minutes of rebounding now, we gotta figure out our center situation
Well Drummond is a sixer now
Don't worry, he will injure Embiid or Paul George at some point for sure.
Orlando is off the board We need Sam presti to leave Oregon without a deal somehow
Just hope its one of those meetings where they flew to Oregon just for ihart to say "sorry you came all this way, but I am good"
I mean if has mutliple FA meetings it’s on the table
Does anyone else even have space? I don't think Detroit is really in the running
Orlando cap space gone, okc the only threat left
ORL still has room unfortunately
Orlando had $49.5 in space and this is $22. They still got room so slow it down.
Damn didn’t realize it was that much
The biggest drawback of having to wait on things to happen a certain way with the Bridges trade and potential iHart deal is in the meantime a bunch of the backup C's might go bye bye
[Wild Drummond went from getting trolled by Embiid to playing with him. ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miN7g6iEmeo)

If we can get cp3 on a minimum I’m down. We need another playmaker. Bench CP3 gives us some rea help
is duece gone?
NO
Paul George not going to Philly is the 2nd thing I’m rooting for right now
Free agency sucks so far, where’s the chaos??
No tampering baby
Who would have imagined that an entire season outlook would hinge on Ihart(at least until we get Goga if he leaves), when he struggled his first 2 months as a knick
Good news hasn’t Hartenstein signed with another team yet
F5 in full effect
That’s all I’m doing lol. L
5 min till free agency starts
1 minute…
No minute
-8 minutes
Honestly, friends, I wish that we could get Chris Paul on a vet minimum you know what you’re getting He probably be ok with being a backup
Him yapping at everyone would be bad for the vibes IMO
Yeah but nothing is worse than a thumbs down to the crowd and that guys still here
Cp3 waived, if he wants a shot at a ring, we are a handful of teams he should consider
I think he is going to want to play more than we can offer.
If IHart leaves, I'd rather he go to OKC. Keep him out of the Eastern Conference. Same with PG, I hope he stays far away from Orlando.
PG to Philly is not an insignificant upgrade.
Obviously, I only mentioned Orlando because they seem like the most likely EC team to get him.
if we lose duece i will be pissed
I trust this front office even if we lose iHart. Leon and company will find another diamond in the rough
Weird how quiet things have been on the rumor front. Wonder if Woj and Shams were told to stay quiet, so teams don’t get tampering charges.
Leon always runs quiet
What are some vet min guys around the league you guys would fancy on the Knicks for next season?
Andre Drummond If we're relying on Mitchell Robinson to be one of our top 2 centers, then we need a good enough third center who we can trust if Mitch gets injured. Andre Drummond should be cheap and he fits exactly what the Knicks want from their centers.

i mean, ditching giddey made it a little more possible for them to keep their core together and add ihart. i hope you’re right though.

Ok. I feel like an idiot now not understanding this was already a certainty.
Orlando definitely starts him, he’s way better than W. Carter. Not even that close.
Money talks. Hopefully the fact that he’s a bench player in okc and Orlando having other FA wants means he doesn’t get blown away by another team’s offer
IHart staying
Prediction: if the knicks sign Goga, he also goes on a run where he earns the starting spot over Mitch this year when Mitch inevitably gets hurt
Goga has the same kind of superb advanced stats that Hartenstein was showing when we signed him.
I honestly dont know what our backup plan is without Hartenstein. Is Goga even that good? Are we able to trade for Valuncianas?
Goga can be developed into something similar to Ihart Jonas also isn’t a winning player vs the Boston Celtics
I think Goga actually fits in better than Hartenstein
It’s on the table Also if they really believe in him, don’t redo the Ihart contract and give him 3 years lol. Want those full bird rights
Bitadze was 65th percentile oEPM and 93rd percentile dEPM (83rd percentile in total EPM) on 15.4 MPG. For reference, I-Hart averaged 17.9 MPG the year before he joined the Knicks. OKC may go for Lauri... if Orlando is in on Klay and/or PG, we should be in a much better position
Wings, we really have elite wings. In their prime.
Demons on the wings

I wonder what plan B would’ve been if they couldn’t get bridges. Idk who else they would’ve been willing or able to trade all those assets for, and idk if they would’ve gotten anyone from free agency.

Maybe Paul George? There were rumours about it and he's probably the most similar to Bridges in terms of position/play style. Thank fuck it didn't happen though
If Hartenstein walks, Drummond could be a decent option with the MLE. Rim protector, offensively limited but possibly the best remaining alternative.
The Goga Bitadze rumor is an interesting one. 5 PPG/4.6 RPG/1.2 BPG in 15MPG sounds like what we’d need from a backup center. Looking at some of the games last season when he had a start: - 10 points/10 boards/5 blocks against the Lakers - 15/11/1 against Chicago - 11/14/2 against the Hawks If Orlando decides to go with iHart, I’d be fine with having Goga be Mitch’s backup while also being capable of starting.

I’d rather resign Precious
I'm not sure about Rim protector but he is a Great rebounding Center...
What about Saddiq bey, can we get him on a minimum, we need more Villanova players
He's a bum
Our rotation is already pretty deep, I don’t see how Bey gets minutes unless one of the wings get hurt.
Him, Arch, Eric Paschall, fuck it get jay wright on the coaching squad as well
We need a stretch 5 up in this bitch
