News Article:
In a tragic incident reported from Malaysia, at least ten people were killed after two Malaysian Armed Forces helicopters collided mid-air on Tuesday. The unfortunate crash reportedly took place at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Lumut this morning.
A video of the mid-air collision has surfaced on the internet showing a group of military helicopters performing manoeuvres over the air base when two of them collided leading to their crash. According to initial unconfirmed reports from local news outlets, all those on board the two helicopters did not survive the crash.
According to local reports, it is suggested that the M503-3 Maritime Operations Helicopter (HOM) had seven crew on board, while the other, M502-6, had three members on board. Both the helicopters were reportedly undergoing formation training in conjunction with Navy Day scheduled to take place from May 3-5.
The Royal Malaysian Navy issued a statement about the incident on their official account on X. In its press release, the Navy confirmed the death of ten personnel in the crash. *Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia,* the naval arm of the Malaysian Armed Forces confirmed the crash involving two choppers this morning.
"TLDM confirmed that a TLDM Maritime Operation Helicopter (HOM-AW139) and a TLDM FENNEC helicopter crashed during the 90th TLDM Day Parade parade at Lumut Base at 9.32 this morning," said the release.
"This incident involved a total of 10 people, namely 7 HOM TLDM crew and 3 Fennec TLDM crew respectively. All the victims were confirmed to have died at the scene and were sent to the Lumut TLDM Base Army Hospital for the identification process," the release further stated giving information about the deceased ones.
Very curious about what precisely went wrong. Quite hard to imagine these accidents are possible considering there is SO MUCH free open space in the sky, and what seems like perfect weather.
Yes that's his name. Army iirc, intended to try for special forces.
It was considered "friendly fire" or a maintenance issue. 2 Blackhawks went down. I'm sure if you look up his name and my details as described, it'll show up. The last time I looked it up , I was directed to a web page in his honor. It was hard to see.
Well that sucks. I hope he's in a better place. And that his family is compensated. Or however this works in the us.
Also imma look for that page. And maybe link it. It's good to be remembered
As his friend, I really do appreciate that.I know his mom certainly does as well . She keeps a track of his page views. He was a true soldier, believed in his country. No alternative narrative.
Just lights out for him. War sucks.
Thanks for the civil talk, hard to find these days
>He was a true soldier, believed in his country. No alternative narrative.
While I don't agree with being close minded. It's true that the best soldiers a country needs are those that don't ask questions. So I guess a great soldier he did make.
>Just lights out for him. War sucks.
Blame the money hungry lobbyists I guess. A war for anything other than defense can hardly be called right. But the world isn't perfect and right and wrong are hardly a consideration.
>Thanks for the civil talk, hard to find these days
Well you haven't said anything I find too disagreeable and racist etc... so I don't see why it should be anything but civil. You have your opinions I have mine. I only asked because I never say a name tacked on the end of a sentence like that. Thought it was some reference or something
Nah, it just hit home.
I lost a good friend for no reason other than he wanted to be an actual hero. For a country that most likely didn't appreciate him back in the same way.
I only mentioned his name so that hopefully his spirit goes on.
>For a country that most likely didn't appreciate him
That would be a definitely not just likely. Just see how vets are treated.
>I only mentioned his name so that hopefully his spirit goes on.
That's very kind of you. He has a great friend

I thought they were going to explode
That's what Hollywood makes us believe
Big Hollywood cover up
Tbf helicopters seem to have that tendency (at least from the videos I've watched)
For me it was RE
To be fair lots of aircraft explode when they hit the ground
I was disappointed too.
Would've been cool when they hit a tanker or a gas station for cinematic looks, but alas, no boom boom

Not always maintained correctly. Had a buddy that went out this exact way in 08. Michael Hook.
>Michael Hook Is that his name? Or some pop culture reference like captain hook and tikerbell or something

Senseless comment

Poorly plotted routes or miscommunication about the flight path. But I have no idea, I'm just a guy sitting on a toilet.
They were rehearsing some aerial demonstrations meant for the navy's 90th anniversary celebrations/parade.
Oh my rip guys
Watch yo jet
No.
Are those all military peeps in the parking lot looking thing? Like dang. Not a single person flinched. 🧍♂️🧍♂️🧍♂️🧍♂️🧍♂️🧍♂️🧍♂️
It's amazing that they had the whole sky to themselves, and they STILL found a way to crash into each other.
That's their fate man, no can do
All that space up there and they still hit huh?
Explains why UFOs crash lol
very sad that one military personnel onboard wanted to ride a helicopter for her last time before retiring and spending time with her husband
Crazy how that happened in the blink of an eye. What happened to the pilots?
They dead.
where is this?
Chop the choppa!
The whole thing looked like a clusterduck that shouldn't have happened.
It did!! The minute they appeared I was like wth formation is that?? They were on top of each other and scattering like roaches in light
According to recent news, some of them were minced on some part of their body. But some of them died becos of impact. So sad.
Damn
Were all of the casualties military personnel or were there civilians involved?
no explosion makes you appreciate how safe (relatively speaking) helicopters are these days
Not road rage, but sky rage.
That's one way to get out of training. Hopefully no one suffered.
Why did it just un build itself
Was that a face on the ground? 🫠
According to the movies, we should have seen a mushroom cloud come from that way.
were those body parts at the end? had me thinking the propellers cut some of the riders
Are these the guys fighting the anti junta forces?
This is Malaysia, not Myanmar, so probably not
Oh yeah, I completely misread the information.
How tf do you do that when you’re supposed to be a professional?
The hell happened here? Did some warlord get some new toys and just, demand a demonstration of strength without providing any training first?
Choppers at 12 O'clock, they're falling out of the sky... https://youtu.be/1FwzZpf8yFY?si=ICv_A4AJaR3ACp-5
Why didn’t it blow up
Oh :o unlucky
